I like passively collecting them as little memories I can look back on remember different parts of the games. Never go out of my way to unlock any though.
Same
If I really enjoy the game and I'm looking for reasons for another playthrough or to keep playing, I'll work on whatever achievements are left (assuming they're not pants-on-head stupid to get)
I enjoy in-game challenges that give in-game rewards kind of like how halo MCC handles it where you can get certain cosmetics for completing certain challenges.
No.
They're annoying when they pop up.
And they mock you for not having done something, or they hide items behind certain achievements that you'll never be able to get.
No-one should add this gay bs to any game/platform.
Not in the sense of unlocking them for the sake of it, but I do like when certain games use them in a fun way. Achievements/trophies that challenge the player to go through a game in a unique way, or complete a task you normally wouldn't, or explore mechanics you didn't even know existed, are great.
A good example is Dishonored. There's an achievement called Speed of Darkness that asks the player to travel 30 meters in 1 second. So you essentially have to figure out what combination of powers will allow you to do that, which pushes the player to explore what they have on hand in ways they might not have. Another one is Well Mannered, which asks the player to finish the big party mission without "spoiling the party". So that means you have to properly investigate who your target is, explore the environment thoroughly for clues, talk to npcs (which you rarely do during missions), and deduce who you need to assassinate without causing a ruckus. And, of course, there's an achievement for getting through the game with no one killed as well as no one seeing you. Which you may have already wanted to play that way, but it's another bit of encouragement to try it out.
I enjoy unlocking achievements and trophies when they're fun to do. When it's shit like Collect All 200 Notes or Play For 100 Hours, then I don't give a shit. But some achievements can add another layer to the game, even providing some sense of replayability. I'll absolutely go out of my way to unlock achievements if they're fun to get.
>Collect All 200 Notes
I don't have the patience for this shit anymore, especially considering text guides are a dying art. If it has collectibles that are clearly marked and aren't missable then fine but anything else is stretching the limits of my patience.
used to actively do them but now i just get through the games and if i really like it i'll consider doing some of them.
I find achievement stats more interesting because you can immediately noticed just how little people actually play games.
SA1 for example. only 70% of players got tails which you unlock after beating the first stage. knuckles you unlock only 2 stages after tails and the achievement for knuckles drops to 40% unlocked.
that's just sad and you can see it in every single steam single player game.
How do Nintendo users do to play without an achievement system? They will never know if they are leaving stuff behind and they will never know if they 100%'d the game. I am genuinely asking.
No, achievements are just a way to psychologically manipulate you into playing bad games or giving games artificial longevity because it gives you more "gamerscore" or "trophies" in lieu of actual unlockables or interesting content, or actually fun gameplay.
We went entire generations before an achievement system, when the most you got was a new costume or an infinite ammo weapon, or you could go see Yoshi on the roof of Peach's castle or a save file with a full arsenal of heart containers; nothing but the self-satisfaction of exploring what a game actually had to offer, and it was great.
Not anymore. It's just boring grinding.

only when i give enough shit about the game

Don't really care too much about my gamerscore
Yes
Didn't ask
No.

I cared about it until my xbox account got banned indefinitely, losing my entire "career" and had to make a new one.
Now I don't care.

I used to, but too many bullshit achievements ruined it for me.
Yes, but I wish I didn't. How do I stop?
No. Never have. I find it annoying to be constantly seeing this icon pop up.
no, unless it's one of those
>0.01%
ones then maybe
If it's one of those easily obtainable, but obscure ones I might do it just for fun, otherwise no.
Gamescore culture is for genuinely mentally ill people, it's only not useless if it involves Microsoft Rewards
i was an achievement prostitute on the 360 for a long time. i would rent shit games from one of those mail rental services just to get them
Game Pass would have been a god send for you back then. So many easy games get added.
If you didn't get all achievements, you didn't beat the game.
/thread
No.
They’re just bullshit head pats for morons that require no skill.
I liked it when they had cool icons or wallpapers for them. Too many games are doing this now for me to care about them anymore
>They use the Sonic 3 sprite.
Woah... It IS the best...
I used to care about them in the 360 era but stopped giving a shit when I switched to PC.

I do care about them but Steam does nothing to capitalize on it.
No, I get banned a lot.
What a cuckold

Yes, I like the dopamine hit and to challenge myself with dumb challenges the developer thought (being 100% real here)
No, but it's nice to see it show up whenever I play a game, gives me some sort of engagement.
nope
no one looks at your profile unless they think you're cheating, so whats the point
No. I have games with thousands of hours that I never 100% because most achievements are tedious shit you need to go out of the way to get.
