Gen 10 won't be until Fall of 2025, and will go until Summer of 2028.
    >people will need a 12 year old console to participate in VGC

      >they'll only take 1 year to make a new Pokémon game for a new system, instead of waiting the usual two for Nintendo to produce the kid-friendly model
If Gen 10 was going to be 2025, Nintendo would have the Switch replacement console on sale already.

No, I just know how to count.
        >Gen 5
        Fall 2010 to Summer 2013
        >Gen 6
        Fall 2013 to Summer 2016
        >Gen 7
        Fall 2016 to Summer 2019
        >Gen 8
        Fall 2019 to Summer 2022
        >Gen 9
        Fall 2022 to ?

Pokemon is a multimedia franchise. Everything has to be planned out years in advance. The the movies, the anime, the toys and merchandise; they all require a constant stream of new Pokemon from new games to fuel sales. Like yeah, MAYBE THIS TIME IT WILL BE DIFFERENT, but considering they make money hand-over-fist on a strict 3 year cycle, there's no reason to think they'll do anything different this time around.

There's a replacement unit coming next year. Gen 10 2026 on said new system.
No, there will never be 3+ Gens on a Nintendo system, as it's subject to the wider console sales projections. And when console sales start falling by double digit projections, console makers generally look to replace the current unit with a new model. Thus Game Freak get contracted to produce a new gen Pokémon game for the new gen console system.

Gen 10 is surely already in development, so unless you think the next console is already finished enough to work with, it'll be on the switch.

      >unless you think the next console is already finished enough to work with
It is. Companies start their new consoles years in advance. The Switch is already the oldest console Nintendo has ever made. Its successor was finalized years ago and at this point they're just sitting on it waiting to start production.

I dont know, but the thing that I know is that when the new console comes out, Pokemon will be like 1 or 2 years late to launch a game for that console and it will be a half-assed piece of shit that will sell millions more than other better games.

    Like always

Considering this gen is streched as much as possible and the little girls anime is slow as balls, I am thinking the new console is coming next year and has back compatibility

This kinda makes sense because the leak that leaked terapagos said that SV was gonna get a performance upgrade in the new console

Paldea is going to last the usual 3 years even if the last dlc comes in this year

We have 5 gens on Switch (based on HOMEKs internal data).
    7 (LGPE), 8 (SWSH), 9 (LA), 10 (BDSP), and 11 (SV).
Even the fan definition of a generation still includes 3 gens. Gens 7-9

      LGPE is a gen8 game

If we're going by looks, then BDSP isn't gen 8

By one-way transfer, I meant can't go into other games and return to LGPE, not like GO

Does it really matter? We can now move pokemon with home between generations for free. like transfering a haunter from SV to evolve in PLA and then level it up to 100 in Sword and Shield.
