do you wish nintendo expanded on the OOT version of Hyrule and the lore behind the temples?

No it’s more fun to speculate
No
A TINY bit. But is right. Halo imploded itself when 343 started shattering the mystery that made players think. Narratively, you WANT the player to think for themselves. You can have a basic framework pointing to a few directions, but filling the gaps is something the player can do. It's also easier to not spend a million years writing little stories sane people don't care about. It's a video game, you're not trying to manufacture a religion (If you are, stop making games and consider suicide ASAP.).
>Nintendo
>Lore
gave me a chuckle
No need anymore. BotW and TotK have essentially retconned any past Zelda lore building and is the new basis going forward.
Not sure how they would expand the lore further in OoT anyways. I still think OoT has a certain atmosphere to it's areas that newer Zelda games have just never been able to recapture.
>Not sure how they would expand the lore further in OoT anyways
>Here is gathered Hyrule's bloody history of greed and hatred...
you mean a story that subverts expectation where hyrule is evil and ganondorf is the hero?
That actually sounds amazing. A story of early Hyrule's corrupt royal family that took their political prisoners to the torture dungeon that became the well/Shadow Temple.
The Sheikah helped as their secret police. This isn't even conjecture.
are the sheikah chad or cuck?
Well, they did go extinct. They might have been TOO chad and were exterminated like bugs because they were viewed as evil, willing to do the dirty work of the royal family.
This. Do people really want the new lore to be retconned into the older games? Particularly Hylia, whose origin reads like some tumblr girl’s fanfiction from 2007?
They really should never have gone any further than brief mentions of the three goddesses.
No, Nintendo is fricking awful with lore.
They couldn't even keep shit consistent between BOTW and TOTK.
WW hyrule is supposed to be OOT hyrule by the way, and it looks nothing like it.
eh reh
>No, Nintendo is fricking awful with lore.
This.
>LoZ
>Lore
No, Nintendo is ass at writing. They can barely even stay consistent with sequels.
Modders can do everything you want and more.
Ocarina b3313 will be insane.
no but I wished such for Twilight Princess and Wind Waker. to this day TP has the most realized version of Hyrule and I want to go on another adventure there
an empty overworld is realized?
sounds like you didn't explore, and discover. happens to the best of us, champ.
Go read the manga if you haven't
It was boring. There was potential but it felt like they didn't really commit to one direction.
Best part was the ghost town but getting to the town was also pretty lame
that's bullshit
eh reh~ eh reh~ eh..... reh~
dododoodo
eh rehhhhhhhhhhh dododoodo
Yeah, which is why I was disappointed the 3DS version was essentially a 1:1 remake, I was hoping for SOME additional content, otherwise what’s the point?
this sounds like a great idea on paper but did you play TotK? they would handle it with all the subtlety of cracking open an egg with a sledgehammer. do you want OoT raped full of tired surface level anime tropes and braindead cutscenes?
all OoT needs is the 3DS models and textures ported to the PC version, colour corrected and decensored to match the original. then it's perfect forever.
I just want more N64 style zeldas
No, because Nintendo can't write for shit. Leaving things mysterious worked out better than when they tried to write a fleshed-out setting. Just look at MM.
Maybe a decade or two ago, but they would completely bungle it nowadays. Either that or get another development studio to handle it, but even then it probably wouldn't turn out too well. You're better off waiting for modders to make fan sequels
A COLLY JOLLY ENERGY
>lore
Reminder that a concrete explanation is worse than speculation 99% of the time.
I feel like I’ve seen way too many franchises make this mistake.
The longer they go on the more fans ask for it to, or the devs feel compelled to, explain every last corner of the world. It never pays off. If the explanations aren’t outright divisive, they’re usually just received with "oh, okay" and then nobody cares. But the wonder is gone.
I think this is because Koizumi left. You can really see the quality of writing take a nosedive after WW.
I like the approach that Discworld takes where there's plenty of detail but the underlying logic is all "idk man we're just having fun here"
Try Discworld MUD.
Of course. It was easily soulful beyond all reason.
Earlier today I was playing the PC fan port and realized the lilypads in the fishing spot moved around if fish disturbed them.
No? I wish they made more games in that style though, especially the dungeons.
>I wish they made more games in that style though, especially the dungeons.
You want more dogshit?
If I wanted dogshit I'd just buy totk
Ah, I get it. You want movies and not games. My mistake. Didn't know OoToddlers were also Goy of Slop fans.
I'd rather take intermittent cutscenes in a game with actual design than "make your own fun xD" empty field horseshit yes.
>I'd rather take a shitty moviegame over a actual game
Nice to know casuals are everywhere on this board.
A simple search and you'll find totk has more cutscene time than OoT either way. I'm over this.
>A simple search
Like the one where Miyamoto calls OoT cinematicshit?
A 2023 game should have more cutscene time than a 1997 game with 10 minutes. It's not madden. It's a game with a story and characters with voice lines.
>Goy of Slop
I have no idea what this could be
Game of thrones?
God of War reboots. It carries the design philosophy as OoT.
No, stories are best when they have exactly as much world building as needed and allow you to use your imagination to fill in the rest.
No but I wish they made more shit like them. Nothing else in the franchise comes close to the Spirit Temple.
Anything you can imagine is probably going to be better than a fleshed out, explained story. I've never been so impressed with what they've cemented in lore that I need them to try with these side details.
no, i dont want any more zeldaslop
this game looks very incel
what does that even mean brother
Link clearly goes on adventures because he has zero sexual market value
Leave world building to long rpg games where there's room to throw it in. Making an action adventure game run to long runs the risk of losing the appeal of a properly paced game (which is an issue many take with TOTK for being too bloated with things to do).
>appeal of a properly paced game
Oh, so not OoT.
No, like many other stated, speculation kept things fresh and interesting. The very moment they did shit like that Hyrule Historia nonsense, it hamstrung the potential and mystique of the Zelda franchise. Even now, you have fans trying to piece BotW and TotK into the same timeline that Nintendo never gave a frick about.
I always found the forest temple scary. even as a kid. too bad the 3ds version ruins it
I don't remember asking you TO read it.
interesting reads, and just more evidence that election tourists, zoomer normalgays, and morons have ruined this place, because you don't get quality posts like these anymore.
>election tourists, zoomer normalgays, and morons have ruined this place
True, there's more OoToddlers then ever pretending some headcanon about a shit game is "interesting".
Exhibit A
>OoToddler can't even reply right
Amazing.
Well that and people desperately trying to shut down any and all discussion about certain games.
it wouldn't work if people would just ignore them like we used to
>thread about subject
>post about subject
>post whining "you can't talk about that"
>everyone chooses to reply to the whiner
>"wtf why aren't the whiners leaving when we give them the attention they desperately seek? I called them a mean name!"
Those were actually from a topic from Gamefaqs, I just saved and reposted them.
Guarantee that whoever wrote this is probably big into the Souls games now
EH REH
A lot of the best writers try to make their world's feel lived in by just ambiguously mentioning stuff for the readers to guess on. Explaining every detail is better for works without a story driven narrative.
