I don't think I've ever met a single Meganium fan. Is anyone out there ride or die for Meganium?
It's entirely believable that they haven't met any Meganium fans. Pokemon is a zombie franchise so most of the real fans left. Unfortunately Meganium doesn't appeal to the current fanbase.
It's not from GENWUN so fakefans and shills who larp as real fans hate it.
It's not a creepy fursona or a sexualized humanoid so coomers and fujus hate it
It's not a heckin' hashtag relatable mon like leCHONK so zoomers hate it
Like the vast majority of Gen 2 Pokemon, its worthless in competitive so VGCshills and Smoggies hate it. (Please note Gen2 Pokemon used to be just as good as any other Gen 2 being decently represented in OU play https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/gsc-ou-viability-rankings-mk-3.3633233/. However, Game Freak hates Gen 2 and Johtofans so they keep making everything else completely overpowered gimmicks, broken movepools, and special snowflake forms, while Gen2 Pokemon get practically nothing, but f you DARE suggest buffs for Johto Pokemon (especially the starters), vp throws a tantrum because if Johto Pokemon were no longer shitmons, 90% of the Pokemon Fanbase's "humor" would die
>tantrum
That's a funny way to describe people rightfully shitting on pathetic johto whiners. Imagine crying like a little b***h that your favorite cartoon animal isn't able to compete in a "competitive" children's game you don't even play.
When I was a kid I was obsessed with the Chikorita line because they were so cute. They were my favorite pokemon for a long time. I begged my dad to buy picrel for me and convinced him to buy it for me as a reward for getting top grades in exams. It’s very scratched and worn because I’d bring it out during recess to play card battles with the other kids. I became a cyndaquill bro after playing hgss
frick, congrats on getting one of those. Hold onto that and never let it go, those tins in are basically impossible to get now. what made you convert?
>what made you convert?
Whenever I play a game I’d restart it to try out other pokemon. I think playing with it made me realize cyndaquil’s actually really cute too, to the point it became my favorite. It being pretty good in-game might’ve helped too. Meganium didn’t fare well and kept falling behind the rest of my party, even the ones people consider shitmons. I’m still fond of it though.
I am a grass type starter lover but Meganium is a stretch. All the Johto starters are kinda meh for me, but Meganium is kinda cool looking as a grass dino. Unfortunately it's kinda girly looking and has bad usage 🙁
Ride or die? No. It's my favorite gen 2 starter and I like it more than most other pure grass types. I think Oddish and Bellsprout being available so early is a big reason why people think it's bad.
It is still one of the most novel starters stat wise, while people rightly run it through the ringer on the boss type chart a bulky dual screener than paralyzes is going find a role in a battle (possibly even moreso in difficulty hacks where screens are even more useful). I do wonder why it backed out of Bayleef's darker colors and head leaf, was it just going through a phase?

design-wise, I like it a lot. I just wish it could actually DO soemthing. It's kinda bulky, but grass sucks defensively. It wants to be a support mon, but it gets frick-all support moves. It just ends up being a shittier venusaur without a worthwhile attacking stat, no leech seed (lmao egg move, frick you), no stun spore, no sleep powder.
I'm planning on using one once Drayano *finally* releases his new HGSS romhacks. I'm assuming it'll be Grass/Fairy and be given some moves to make it actually have a niche. Hopefully.
It had more than enough attack and special attack for in game, learns several good support moves by level up, and has good bulk. Grass doesn't suck defensively either.
screens suck. No leech seed and no powders make its movepool a fricking joke. Oh but I guess I can have it do toxic even though that's learnable by literally any other pokemon in existence. But hey, at least I can hit people with razor leaf's whopping 55 base power, assuming the match-up isn't against the half of the type chart that resists grass.
It being a shitty venusaur doesn't mean it can't do anything and screens suck as much as any other support move ingame. It's the only gen 2 pokemon that learns body slam at a decent level, so the movepool is hardly a joke. Since you want to bring up TMs it also learns EQ and giga drain. Its movepool is more than fine for playthroughs.
Eh?
It's cute and bulky mono-grass with slew of support moves and surprisingly solid coverage between just Grass and Normal moves makes it interesting choice.
People are pissing themselves over "bad matchups" in Johto composed of fricking early game bugs and birds, things that are dying to grass and things that you can kill with Geodude and forget that Chikorita has best shot at dealing with some of the scariest bosses in Johto like Whitney or Clair.
Also again, it's fricking beautiful. One of my favorite Pokemon designs.
>Fight clair >Never had lost because Meganium is always reliable, it's bulky enough to stand hits and can also resist stab from kingdra and gyaradoss
Yeah, sometimes I think it's too OP for a run.
It also has poison powder to mitigate irritation with Kindra's smokescreen spam. You know - it's less of a pain in ass if you don't need to constantly attack it and instead can focus on staying alive and waiting for poison to make it work.
I think it's fine. Not offensive in any way. I at least like it better than most of the starters from recent gens. Don't know if that's good enough to count as "liking" it.
i would ride it alright
It's by far the best looking starter in Johto, the fact that is a shitmon (even by Johto standards) makes it so unlikeable.
ROM hacks do what Game Freak can't: buffing shitmons
That's because ROM hacks actually value Pokemon outside of CHARIZARD and the other shillmons
I like it but prefer the other two.
Shittiest taste and autistic anti-johto trend hopper.
Love its design and concept but its stats fricking suck
It's a cute dinosaur, hell yer I like it.
Dinosaurs are great.
Stat wise, crap. But that's most jotomon.
You've never met anyone with taste in your life?

sup cosmos
hi 32

This isn't exclusive to gen 2 Pokémon.
fair point
i accept your concession

You are like little baby
she cute
the stats and movepool of it are fine for what it is
I love her both sexually and legitimately
I always liked the design and also it gets easy wins against whitney too
I miss cute simple monster pokemon.

I know someone who used to have Chikorita in their username, some people like the line.
I really enjoy Meganium. In-game, it is definitely a support ‘Mon. I get for a starter that’s somewhat underwhelming but it does carry in its own way.
The child in me wishes Petal Blizzard was in HGSS because Petal Blizzard/EQ/Iron Tail would be valid asf.

One of my favourite Pokemon of all time, alongside Vaporeon. I think its shiny is extremely underrated.

It's just a shitty venusaur.
he's right you know. if it got sleep powder or even stun spore it would be much more bearable

I dont like it at all. Bayleef is cuter and has a better color palette.
Eh?

yes but I feel like it needs the earthquake tm which kinda feels like a waste

I just run reflect/giga drain/body slam/return|synthesis
Never had any issues, but yeah if you drop poison powder it's even faster
Giga Drain is not available till Kanto tho. I think that you meant Razor Leaf :V.
Probably magical leaf, i forgot exactly
I think it's fine. Not offensive in any way. I at least like it better than most of the starters from recent gens. Don't know if that's good enough to count as "liking" it.
my first pokemon. has been and will always be my bro.
I love himmmm
When I'd try the other starters in different play thrus I didn't feels so happy
I kinda like it as I have a weird preference for some shitmons over more optimal, powerful mon. Still wish it had better abilities and moves.
I DO! Only thing I'd change is give it a longer tail to drive home that Sauropod look.
Its kinda cool. I always pick the grass starter, and I like dinos
