You do realize that about 50% of the assets in this video are FROM Doom2016, right? The models, the environments and sounds are recreations, and the actual tech demo for Doom 4 looked like complete ass. Like a gears of war rip off, complete with strong female protag right out the gate.
It was never gonna be kino. You're just projecting your ideas of what it was gonna be onto it. It would've been a disappointing shitfest. An unreleased game is whatever the audience imagines it to be.
In an ideal world i would have liked to have both products. Perhaps they could've made a DLC for Eternal from the POV of a UAC Soldier or something like that. I just never grew out of monster invasion stories ok?
Doom 4 was looking to be exactly the same generic grey and brown dogshit that plagued the genre between 2008-2015 and that Id already dipped their toes in with Rage
While 2016 wasn't perfect it was a phenomenally well made AAA FPS that had the shocking sense to be a straight FPS with no frills attached.

Actually 2016 had a lot of pretty pointless frills. I kinda enjoyed it after all, but it's pretty fricking obvious the game was going through an identity crisis, and there was a LOT of doubt about whenever it's going to find it's audience. To a point where Bethesda nearly burried it before it was even released.
Doom 3 has to be one of the top 3 monster redesigns ever made.
>Slower more cinematic shit
No thanks
but muh tactical doom kino
looks like ASS

>can only enjoy platformers
It's okay anon, shooters aren't for everyone
2016 reeks of having d4 leftovers though.
Rage already exists for you
It looks like a mod for Rage. Frick off.
Doom 4 looks horribly generic and slow
Glad they scrapped it.

Danny O'Dwyer is a homosexual.
Id is implementing some of those ideas in the Quake reboot
Literally doom cod. No one liked this and no one at ID liked it either
>DOOM 4
>Most of it is early 2016 stuff

bump
>cancelled games are always treated as if they'd be 11/10 masterpieces
I'm so sick of this mentality.
I actually think this looked pretty decent. It the game wasn't named Doom, it would have been even better.
