All the problems with Dragon Age: Inquisition and the one that pisses me off the most is the only desire demon in the entire game just looks like a regular guy.
origins was shit though, moronic story, unlikable characters, shitty furry jumping puzzle sections. people only liked origins cuz of le heckin sarcastic sideboob waifu
2 was lowkey the best Dragon Age
I loved DA Origins, but no way, not even close. DA Origins was already moving the way of making things more "contained" because there's no way they could do the expansiveness of a Baldur's Gate 2 with modern graphical expectations/budget (they said at the time).
Baldur's Gate 3 is so damned open and allows so much variation on how things can progress and how you can solve quests.
Is it frick, consolegay. It was a decent game but not good enough to replay. I'll still play the OG Baldurs Gate and Neverwinter games and fully intend to do a couple more playthroughs of BG3 but Dragon Age is just a memory.
Ok, so BG led to DA:O right down to the real time combat, and the ability to set if:then actions and such. BG3 is turn based, little more than a Divinity reskin, is nothing like BG or DA:O yet... you say so? I am sorry, but I do not even take you make-believe gender seriously, let alone mental gymnastics like that.
they will never be able to compete with Larian, and crpgs can't be successful if they are slop, as opposed to action rpgs who can be slop because the audience for these games aren't really exacting, as long as it's consoomable they will buy it.
Bioware did the right choice
They can easily compete with Larian. They can take their turn based combat and improve upon it so it's not such a slog, but BioWare is just completely incompetent at this point
>hey can take their turn based combat and improve upon it so it's not such a slog
It's called RTwP. Baldur's Gate pioneered it exactly for this reason. Larian are literally 20 years behind the curve because their engine cannot do it. It was never designed to.
It's an improvement in every single way. Only zoomers hate RTwP because it makes their brains melt.

Zoomers specifically hate turn based. It's the main complaint among new people to the series.

Yeah dude, they totally hate turn based.

no zoomer like BG3 because it's shitty combat, it's only millennials who like it

Real time games are an improvement, using fake turns is absolute garbage design. >I cast spell >I queue up my next spell...which goes off 6 seconds later arbitrarily

Oh no...you can't cast your spells without any drawbacks or punishment making casters extremely OP like in BG3? What a shame....

Melee users would also be able to swing more than like 2.5 APR which is what BG2s limit is IIRC.
You're genuinely an idiot
Explain. Why do RTwP games, especially adaptions of table top system, need to keep turns? I thought we were real time?

>2.5 APR which is what BG2s limit is IIRC.
It's 10
Despite the ugly visuals and backlash that Dragon Age Inquisition got, I still enjoyed the hell out of it. I put well over 100+ hours into it and even attempted to replay it.
i've played through the entire franchise (though couldnt manage to finish DA:I) and i think all of the games are shit in their own unique ways and the entire series as a whole sucks compared to other fantasy games out there
No, you lost to your own flaws.
Inquisition was a disappointing game following an already disappointing sequel. And since then, Bioware also managed to make Andromeda and Anthem.
Seeing Ganker praise BG3 for many of the same reasons it used to give shit to dragon age has been bizarre. Really just goes to show how much the userbase has changed in the last ten years. This really is a reddit and discord colony now
I genuinely enjoyed it, but mainly because I like telling games to frick off and playing them in ways I'm not supposed to. >solo mage, second highest difficulty
Becomes a pretty fun action game. Had I needed to manage 3 morons I didn't care about, I doubt I would have finished it. Also some of the environments looked really nice.
>Also some of the environments looked really nice.
legitimately the only good thing to come out of the Frostbite engine. Environments and weather effects were superb. too bad everything else sucked
DA:O sucked
I remember the hype it had behind it but the game itself was a slog. Only memorable sections are memorable because how awful they were like fade or deep roads. Soundtrack was mid and even obnoxious at times and the game looked like a vomit with rather ugly art direction.
BG3 will be forgotten, it will be one of those ironic highest rated game ever played that is never recommended 10 years from now. It's a mid RPG, poorly executed gameplay mechanics, actually awful story and characters. It's like watching a Critical Role stream in 480p that buffers every 30 seconds.
Human Noble, Dwarf Noble, City Elf, or Circle Mage. Human Noble probably has the most overall impact on the story, but the other 3 are fine as well.
All classes are viable. When you get to the first town called Lothering after the prologue, make sure you fully explore it. There are 2 missable companions that are easy to miss. Make sure you enter the tavern so you don't miss Leliana. YOU CAN NOT RETURN TO LOTHERING ONCE YOU LEAVE
Mage is the most fun class but the most boring origin. Human Noble is probably the best for a first play.
Make sure to get the mod that fixes the content that wasn't implemented by mistake
dont miss Leliana and lean hard on either good or evil behaviors whenever you are with her
level up Coercion (?) asap if you care for social encounters.
Trap making is fun.
Leliana/Alistair/Morrigan is the canon party as far as I'm concerned, but that's not a tip
I appreciate that the HUD alone is a strong enough red flag to write off an entire game nowadays. This kind of game design school "best practices" minimalist horseshit clearly indicates that nobody working on the game has a shred of creativity, never mind the agency to use it. Not a single person involved in the making of this product gives the slightest frick about video games or understands anything about what makes them good or not. This may be more readily apparent in other facets of the game, but the HUD is the surest and most consistent giveaway that you're looking at something made by people who hate you.
>Not a single person involved in the making of this product gives the slightest frick about video games or understands anything about what makes them good or not.
And you do, having this much of a hissy fit over a UI that's perfectly fine in practice?
While I respect your opinion, I believe we differ in our views on what constitutes a well-designed HUD. Minimalism doesn't necessarily equate to lack of creativity, but rather focuses on clarity and ease of use.
In Dragon Age Origins, the HUD provides essential information without cluttering the screen, allowing players to immerse themselves in the story and gameplay. Additionally, the game's combat system relies heavily on tactics and strategy, so having clear indicators helps players make informed decisions. As for hating the player,
I disagree entirely; BioWare has a reputation for creating immersive worlds and memorable characters, and their attention to detail shows in DAO. Perhaps you could elaborate on what specific aspects you found dissatisfying beyond the HUD?
>Dialogue still boils down to good/bad/neutral/quip most of the time >Sex scenes are still fade to black
Amazing how little has changed over two decades. I guess in DA:O I couldn't make my grey warden a futa and frick Morrigan while she's in spider form, bit of a missed opportunity there.
>Not playing DA2 because you've heard bad things but not skipping DA:I
For all the shit 2 gets, I'll say that it's closer to Origins than Inquisition so you'd probably like that one more
I liked DA:I way more than DA2
DA2 memes were all true, it truly is that bad and the only good thing about the game is the trainwreck of a plot that is periodically entertaining for all the wrong reasons
But in reality nobody should play either
I don't know how you can compare DA:0 and BG3
BG3 is newer and by default has better graphics and animation. Significantly better. BG3 has some of the best facial emotes I've seen yet.
BG3 has infinitely more depth in combat and interacting with the environment.
The writing quality is basically the same, but BG3 has significantly more mechanical depth when it comes to exploring and/or fighting the world.
You literally have to be moronic or really, really overvalue MQ story to put DA:O over BG3.
Even being mad over the fact that BG3 is better is moronic. If you like this style of RPG you should be fricking ecstatic that the best in class just dropped.
BG gays are the kind of basedjacking normalBlack folk that think 5e is an amazing in depth role playing system because of how many options there are for adding 1 damage to your weapon attacks each level
this is one ugly hud
looks like a flash game's
The entire game is ugly. Ugly characters, ugly animations.
tghis
no, dragon age origins is still miles better than bald gays 3
no
yes
lol yes
SPBP
Thought about this today as well. Nothing that came after origins comes close to it
Not in a million fricking years, biodrones are absolutely delusional
True
Haven’t played BG3 but it would be hard to beat Origins in terms of overall
BG3 does look better than sharts of pissternity tho
I like both a lot but can honestly see myself preferring Baldur's Gate 3 by the time I'm finished with it.
i was in the same boat until i finished the game and found out that the endings are pure shit while DA:O had good ways to conclude the story.
Indeed.
I like Baldie's 3 but this is 100% tru and real in every way
ya
dont forget your meds schizie
True and real
He's right you know
All the problems with Dragon Age: Inquisition and the one that pisses me off the most is the only desire demon in the entire game just looks like a regular guy.
would
That's a really bad idea

You were so close to having decent bait and you got too greedy.
im 100% serious
i have one playthru in DA1
done 6 playthrus of 2 on different builds and difficulties

BG3 is a modern DAO, it improves on it in pretty much every way.
Especially affirming LGBTQ allies!
Damn that hud is so close to being straight up phone game tier. Even the icons are done in that simplified, moron proof modern style
They're never surpassing DAO, as flawed as it was, so what's the point?
not really, name a single thing bg3 does better
story, combat, dialogue, companions.
though thats not a high bar. DA:I sucks ass
BG3 doesn't lean on fantasy racism for the whole plot for starters
I was actually surprised by that
But I love fantasy racism
>comparing dragon age to Baldur's Gate
zoomers are truly are moronic species.
BG3 is more similar to DAO than the original BG games.
BG3 is BG2 but in 3D
Ok, so BG led to DA:O right down to the real time combat, and the ability to set if:then actions and such. yes
inquisition loses to everything
LMAO even in dragon age you trannies play as a woman JESUS CHRIST
>dwarfson's pass
>Dreadwolf is copying God of War instead of trying to be CRPG king again

tbh I like inquisition for the same reasons I like xenoblade 2

no
I fricking hate Dragon Age at this point, Origins was the only good game and they've raped it.

wqhy
dragon age origins was the only good one.
Despite the ugly visuals and backlash that Dragon Age Inquisition got, I still enjoyed the hell out of it. I put well over 100+ hours into it and even attempted to replay it.
I don't understand the rehabilitation people are trying to do on Dragon Age, a franchise that hasn't had a good game in over a decade.
i've had DA:O sitting in my backlog for almost 10 years now, maybe it's time to finally try it. not getting BG3 until it's on sale cuz im cheap.
i've played through the entire franchise (though couldnt manage to finish DA:I) and i think all of the games are shit in their own unique ways and the entire series as a whole sucks compared to other fantasy games out there
lose what? DA shot itself before homosexual gayte even did anything.

Yup, I only enjoy breaking the game mechanics and destroying everything on nightmare.
it was kind of fun, similar to ME3 in some ways
DA:O sucked

yes
You can't lose if you never competed
yes unfortunately
I can’t afford bg3 atm so I’m playing dao. What origin and class should I play as and any tips for a newbie for this game

Baldurs gate is goated with the sauce unfortunately
Baldur's Gate 3: Keeping it 100 edition
>oated with the sauce
why do you zoomers speak like that
Maybe da4 will play like dao again. I don't understand why they forced the shitty action rpg gameplay over the old crpg lite system.
>Dialogue still boils down to good/bad/neutral/quip most of the time

Amazing how little has changed over two decades. I guess in DA:O I couldn't make my grey warden a futa and frick Morrigan while she's in spider form, bit of a missed opportunity there.
I feel a sense of mournful nostalgia from this picture
ive never even heard of baldurs gate
liar
What MMO is that?
I love Baldurs Gate 3 but goddam even that hasn't dethroned Dragon Age: Origins for me. Will there ever be a CRPG as good?
I'm going to play Inquisition after I play Origin, I read only bad things about Dragon Age 2 and I also can't pirate it

It's been 15 years since dragon age came out
its taken 4 hours to unpack bd3 from fatgirl...its stuck at 2.8%...help.....
HOWEVER
More like Highever
God the armor looks so fricking weird in this game
It looks AI generated before AI existed
warrior is the most boring class in dao
Dual sword warrior is fun as frick though
dual sword rogue is better
But then you don't to the heavy armor fashion.
inquisition lost to origins
Baldurs gate doesn’t have chad male hawke unfortunately
he sounds like the gayest fricking twink if you try to play the humorous options
That is…not what a twink means
What does it mean then twinxpert
you cant be serious, dragon age is mid on its best day.
BG gays are the kind of basedjacking normalBlack folk that think 5e is an amazing in depth role playing system because of how many options there are for adding 1 damage to your weapon attacks each level
