It's very likely that is going to be a nostalgia bag. I really doubt they are going to give each character, uniques and distinctives skills like they did back in BT3.
The small details of these games made all the difference.
Each character gets their own transformation cutscene now. I think that's a good indicator that an effort will be made.
Most main characters had moves like “full power energy blast volley” and “high speed rush.” I’d just be happy if more characters got actual named moves or shit they actually did in the anime

I want King Piccolo. He was in BT3 so I think it's possible. I want the game's story to start with the 23rd Tenka-Ichi Budōkai instead of Raditz showing up too, if there's a story mode.
They could even start at the 21st and have a shitload of og db characters included. Its such a goldmine for unique characters bo other game has but they’ve never approached it in depth in any of the fighting games, which is a shame
Thoughts on Shueisha losing the anime and game rights to Dragon Ball? CC Tokyo has the anime/movies and game rights now.
I was excited last year when I first heard of this, but seeing as how he turned the cast into toddlers, I'm thinking Shueisha wasn't so wrong after all.
Daima is still under Shueisha's trademark and as such, Shueisha is the one who started the work on Daima. It is what it is. Daima should have only 20 episodes, so Iyoku will probaby announce a lineup after Daima.

One of the central themes in DB is strength through personal growth and hard training. Dialing the characters back to 0 is just a bad idea that goes against what the audience wants.

They take literally every opportunity to show he's stronger than ever. The only thing Goku lost by becoming a child was instantaneous movement.
Making them children is not an inherently good or bad thing (except fricking over Goten and Trunks yet again), only what they do with it. And if all the other stuff they've said about Daima turns out to be true, it'll turn out well.

Iyoku didn't like how there were big gaps of nothing between the end of the anime and the movies that have come out since. He was one of the people who helped pushed for both Broly and Superhero too, so if it weren't for him, we probably wouldn't even had the movies. Shueisha dug the knuckles in the ground with Dragon Ball despite the manga still chugging along, and Iyoku felt that if there's no anime, then the franchise will loose steam again. When he went to Comic Con to promote the Broly movie, it was first time he and some of his co-workers saw how big Dragon Ball was outside of Japan.
As far as we know, Daima (which is being made for the 40th anniversary) is the last anime being produced under Shueisha, whatever comes after that (including anime, games and movies) will be with Iyoku and Capsule Corp. Also, to get such a company made and license bought, you have to cooperate with the creator, so I'm pretty sure Toriyama is a-okay with the whole situation.
