Ferrystones and fast travel are the antithesis of the adventure DD can provide. 1 suffered from a lot of issues so the world suffered because of it. Because of this, traveling did get old fast. Things look a lot better now. More dynamic world, more exploration, more encounters, quest givers you will bump into on your journey, camping to regenerate lost HP. All of this and more ties into the feeling of a party adventuring out into the world. Fast travel has to be limited to preserve the potential kino.

dd1 but with more content is basically exactly what i want though. DD1 had good core mechanics but it was pretty barebones in terms of content especially in vanilla without bitterblack. Better quests, more towns, and more dungeons is exactly what i want.
It's like BOTW in a sense. But unlike TOTK, it looks like DD2 is going to actually be the greatly expanded experience that I want, the game that DD could've been.
Every sequel should be the previous game but better. If I wanted something different I would play a different game.

V in DMC 5 plays wildly different from any other DMC game ever has or probably ever will play since his playstyle was very hit or miss for people.
The only problem with V's style was that it felt underdeveloped compared to Nero or Dante. I felt like what V needed to get working as to be able to cast more major spells on his own as the summons do their thing. Griffon and Shadow's movesets are terrific and it's fun junctioning their skills but that's all you can do besides read book, poke dudes, and maybe parry an attack sometimes.
If you could cast slow, confuse enemies into attacking each other, have some sort of technique to mix in more offensive attacks yourself so you have three fronts of assault the game would have been terrific.
It's clear that it's made by the DMC team, but I wouldn't say it's like DMC.
I wish there was a summoner vocation that played like V

Was the first one anything like Elden Ring? Elden Ring is pretty unique among open world games in that it actually has stuff in the world, unlike stuff like RDR2 where the most you can find is a two story house.

I've played Dragon's Dogma 1 so I get the appeal, but I can also see exactly what you mean. I get that exact feeling with Shadow of Mordor. It's just something about the UI looking generic and nothing looking very flashy. Like it's clear there's going to be some mechanics that have to be learned to play this and it looks too generic to be worth learning it.

it varies from game to game, and it's dependant on the CPU
denuvo is only painful on your hardware if you are already barely reaching recommended specs
if you have up to date hardware the hit to performance is generally negligble, but it also differs game to game, RE engine games are known to be very well optimised
Denuvo itself causes additional load on CPU and sometimes load times, but Capcom's other DRM has caused all manner of performance issues. I'm just going to wait until it's cracked. I want to give them money for it but they can frick off with their, what, 4 layers of useless DRM now? 5?

As long as the vocation quests aren't senselessly hidden, I don't mind. Guide players early on to some small questline like joining the wizard guild to unlock specializations and it's perfect. Also, considering you started with 3 vocations in 1, this is more options.

Based on the image you posted? Surcoat and mail are pretty much guaranteed; the first game had like 4 surcoats off the top of my head. The helmet's distinct but I could believe we'll see at least one in that style. It's also likely we'll see a kite shield in that shape as well, though it's not confirmed whether we'll have larger MK-style shields yet.
I'm interested in the Germanic spectacle helms of the Dark Ages, I think I saw one in the vocation screenshot but I cant be certain because image quality was so shit

No grounded up-close class has any chance of being fun Anon. It's just way too much of a visual clusterfrick since DD is based around large enemies so your vision mostly becomes that monsters textures and lose track of what exactly it's doing.

This is what I've wanted them to do for MH's Switchaxe's wild swings move: add a timed input at the end of each set of swings so you can continuously swing faster and faster. It gives nuance so that skilled players can attack faster while people less familiar with the weapon can still just mash through it at reduced speed.
Should be how the entire Axe mode works and not just for the standing still attack tbh

Core abilities are unlocked, kinda like passives that you can't adjust, right? I'm still not sure if I'd like that. I think because I enjoy games more when I can test different builds rather than having only one way to play a character.
But I don't really know much about the game besides the first interviews. I've trying to get as little info as possible in order to enjoy the game.
You would have to spend discipline points to unlock them and I imagine you could disable them if you don't like them or find the inputs wrong.
they're aditional moves to your basic moveset. like the archer can kick off of an enemy to jump high in the air. it's basically a skill that doesn't take a skill slot. Tusk Toss and Anodyne from the first game, for example, are core skills now (for fighter and mage, respectively)
In theory you'll have more than ever. Warrior especially is winning big. Going from just the basics and three skills to four skills and a heap of extra moves means it will play a hell of a lot better. A lot of skills from 1 have been moved into the core skills so now we have DMC inputs for more moves.

Quest boards help make the world actually feel alive. It doesn't even have to be just a quest board, The Witcher 3 made the notice board an actually notice board where villagers would just post random shit or actual notices. I personally don't have a problem with kill quests, bounty hunts or fetch quests either, as long as they aren't the main type of content in the open-world, but just something you can do alongside quests with actual narratives or during exploration.
I think they're talking about games like Valhalla which had a ton of quests, I think the open-world part makes that clear

If the map is mostly empty again and has predetermined identical enemy spawns again then this isn't a good thing. Nothing says boring like seeing the same group of Gobbos and Bandits every time you pass by an area.
I absolutely hated that the only notable things in the overworld were the large monster spawns/areas. The wyrm, the chimera, the cyclops, etc.
And if you're expected not to fast travel too much this time around that just sounds like a slog. I

The tower is also much further from the gate than it makes your brain think it is, there's the outer wall, inner wall, and then there's still a walk to the main structure. Inside it's hard to tell how high up you go.
And once we get to the top where the arena is, the ruin extends above still.

If they keep the garbage stamina system from DD1 I rather just have infinite fast travel. I like the first game but you spend more time waiting for your stamina to recover than exploring or doing anything else
Nothing garbage about it. You can run forever, just carry more mushrooms and lose out on the carrying capacity for other things. It's a choice you'll have to make, like a proper RPG and not some casualized Skyrim dogshit that just hands you everything.
It is garbage. Compare it to Elden Ring. When making the jump to a large open world, they changed the stamina system to not consume stamina when sprinting UNLESS you are in combat. Dragon’s Dogma ALREADY had this system in place in the first game to an extent, with cities and safe areas giving you 0 stamina consumption. When you are out in the world, you already get the “combat mode” as indicated by the music changing when enemies detect you. All they had to do was marry the two systems to reduce the tedium.
It's not. Running out of stamina is a choice you made, and if you run into a pack of enemies and are low on stamina it puts you at a disadvantage. It's a risk you take, and it also directs gameplay at the early levels. Forcing you to slow down and look around the world to see what you might otherwise miss if you're sprinting everywhere. It's also largely a non-issue late game because between inflated stamina pools, bonus from gear, reduction augments, and port crystals all over the map, you stop caring about stamina altogether outside of a few fights.
But that doesn’t match reality.

It’s needless, thoughtless tedium. At zero point in the game did I think to pack mushrooms or other stamina restoring curatives for TRAVELING, because that’s a complete waste when they could be used during combat where they are infinitely more useful instead.

Ferry stones aren't even a resource that you'll ever run out of with any degree of foresight. And the real fun of Dragon's Dogma was optimizing placements of port crystals.
Anon the original DA had one ferry stone outside the two major ones. A singular fricking one. It was on in DA that they gave you I think either 2 or 3 more bringing the total up to either 3 or 4 which given the game map is far more adequate.
It doesn't help movement is generally slow in DD and yes the other anon's complaint about the stamina system is valid.
Oh, to clarify
Not ferry stones, port crystals. Meaning that you only had 3 fricking quick travel points over what was frankly a far too big map especially due to the fact the southwestern edge and norteastern were as remote as they were.
I remember specifically having five or six that I could place through the overworld. There really never was anything out of the way.
For BBI I don't remember having any issues traveling around either for one reason or another.
IIRC the game only gave you a few of them, the rest of the portcrystals you had to buy.
Then Dark Arisen came out and they railroaded one into like every dungeon

I think the quote wasn't so much about Itsuno wanting to restrict fast travel, just about not having it being the main way of getting around, so many games these days feel like they're designed around always having access to fast travel, so it feels refreshing for a game director to mention this, and I agree, I do expect DDDA levels of fast travel availability.
Hopefully Itsuno will manage to make travelling the slow way enjoyable, going by what IGN said about the world so far, that seems to be the case.
Honestly DDDA was the perfect balance. You could strategically place the port crystals as required and by preference and you'd still likely have one in the bag to place down for a quick return to a city in case you needed to, and then returning back to where you were and collecting the crystal you'd just placed down. That's how I did it
I used to have one in the camp by the goblin forth down in the southwest, one by the castles near the old ancient drawings up north, and then one at the fortress right before Grigori. Least that's how I remember placing them.

Got a bit further and the main quest took me down into a dungeon in the city, halfway down and started fighting a cave troll that took almost 20 minutes to beat, but for most of that I was just running around picking my useless teammates up.

The ox escort is widely acknowledged by fans as the worst part of the game. If you're having trouble with an enemy there's no shame in fleeing.
Ignore the fake fans, actual cultist behaviour. The game does get better after that section, but also be mindful of enemy weaknesses. That troll for example writhes around when its on fire, allowing a big window to attack freely. Also trolls hate women pawns so try and have male pawns.

Black Knights were supposed to wonder around the world, rather than have set a location. They couldn't get it to work, so they just spawned a couple in different locations to simulate the fact that they traveled everywhere aimlessly.
