Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen or Kingdom of Amalur Re-Reckoning? Platform: PC + Controller. They look really similar. You can also recommend another standalone action RPG if you think it's better than both.

definitely dogma over amalur, no comparison
Dragons Dogma is fricking great, never played the other one.
Both utterly shit singleplayer mmos
I don't understand the hate for MMO type quests. I don't want to read an hour of dialogue inbetween gameplay passages to have some deep, intricate, murder mystery mission. Sometimes I just want to kill 15 ogres and get a nice piece of armor for it. At the end of the day, video games are entertainment, nothing more.
They're boring and add nothing. No story, no characterization, no cool set piece, just pointless busy work. Go play a Diablo game if that's all you want out of it.
That's the problem with KoA though. The quests are all boring shit but you ALSO have each npc with a novella of text, all of which is so boring you could use it instead of an anaesthetic. Diablo does it better where the quests are simple but so is the accompanying lore, dialogue etc.
There is nothing wrong with MMO type quests if they are voluntary extra content.
>just pointless busy work
It's called focusing on gameplay.
>It's called focusing on gameplay.
No, it's called being lazy. Stop being a homosexual.
Stop being stupid and uneducated. Adding content to the game is not lazy. The crucial part is that content of this nature is extra content.
Go watch Netflix, you don't belong on a video game board.
"go kill 8 spiders" is not adding content you fricking moron. It's the pinnacle of lazy design. Actually have a nice day you waste of semen.
You must be some young student or something. Adding content is by definition activity and hence not lazy. Similarly when developers add simple weapons with no lore behind them to the game they are adding content. I assume you believe adding weapons to the game is lazy as well if the weapons in question don't have at least three paragraphs of lore text written about them? Not every content needs to aim for the same goals but they serve different purposes and for different audiences, this is common sense for anyone with more than two braincells.
All in all, your opinion is simply stupid and naive.
You are the dumbest fricking person. I seriously hope you're just trolling.
Dragon's Dogma is lightyears better than KoA. Amalur's a shallow action game with a trash story and a million MMO style quests.
>shallow action game with a trash story and a million MMO style quests
So is Dragon's dogma.
Are you pirating?
Yes. Kinda spooky that you know, not gonna lie...
kek just wondering since I think Dragons Dogma is known for its online interactions with its community pawn system.
Both have GOG versions in that case, try gog-games.
Half of the fun in Dragons Dogma comes from the pawn shenanigans, which requires playing online. Play Amalur if you're pirating.
But it's unanimous, Kingdoms of Amalur did not got a single anon voting for it, so I will check out Dragons Dogma
Both are overall solid games with good-not-great combat.
Dragons Dogma more like Dragons Sugma
Kingdoms of Amalur more like Kingdoms of Chadalur
Think of DD as a great action game more hampered by inclusion of RPG elements while KoA is an action RPG with decent action part.
Dragon's Dogma all the way
They both suck. Try Kingdom Come or Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, Horizon Zero Dawn, Nier: Automata, there's much better games out there
Dragon's Dogma is especially stupid, the story is absolute dogshit with cringe dialogue and shit writing, I tried it and all I did was throw people off of cliffs, like wtf, why would a game even let you do that
You almost had me until
>why would a game even let you do that
Horizon was also a slip up
I found Amalur fun but DD >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Dragon's Dogma and it's not even a contest. Dragon's Dogma is a game anyone who enjoys gameplay and exploration in games will enjoy meanwhile Kingdom of Amalur is a literal singleplayer MMO that is 7/10 at best, I would give it less.
Interestingly, the pawns you hire from other players in DD make you feel like you are not playing alone, kind of like an MMO. Meanwhile in KoA you feel like you are playing an MMO alone.
DDDA is still the best ARPG ever made. Anyone who says otherwise is a tastelet moron.
Kingdom of Amalur has way better armor/weapon design
Depends if you like high fantasy fashion, or low fantasy fashion like a sort of junkyard knight
are you for real?
Yes. The weapon&armor you posted look like the most basic, generic set ever. I like my stuff a bit more high fantasy and not just 1 to 1 copies from real life middle ages.
>a bit more high fantasy
>posts literal WoW cartoon shit
yikes bro
High fantasy does not equal to American Blizzard/Disney cartoon graphics. Classic high fantasy is realistic.
>Functional, tastefully decorated equipment? Nah bro, give me Warcraft pauldrons!
Tasteless Black person.
>Re-Reckoning
Is this particular version worth it over the original, though?
The only complaint about it I heard was that it's "not enough of a remaster". Apparently they slightly increased graphics but that's it. I guess if you played the original its not really worth it but other than that, I don't see any reason not to play that one over the original game for first time players.
Both are good
