I finally finished Bitterblack Isle and I don't understand Daimon's lore at all.
He fricked a dragon? And a pawn too?
Or the dragon was his mommy?
And everyone you fight in Bitterblack is a former Arisen too?
Did Kojimbo write this?

He's a big guy.
bump
Big enough to get manhandled by holy rocks.
dragon offered daimon the usual beloved deal and daimon basically told the dragon "frick this shit"
then the dragon smiled and said "a deal's a deal' and transformed him into something that could actually frick everything up by drawing arisen to die at his place instead of going to kill other dragons
For me, I always took the reasoning being that refusing the Duchy isn't a legal choice, so it's not so much of a trick of fate or a vindictive curse as much as Daimon just straight up broke the rules. Chances are, Daimon rejecting the world and the cycle meant he couldn't be kept within it lest he might accidentally become dangerous, which was why he was cut out of reality and sent to Bitterblack Isle. As for his appearance, I dunno, it's clear they show part of it is just the nature of the Arisen, but he also seems to allude to some gathering of power that has allowed BBI to reveal itself in the first place
That's fricking moronic and goes against the narrative of the whole game.
no it doesn't. nothing says that every great dragon has to behave the same way Grigori does
No. The Dragon granted his wish, just like ours granted Edmun's.
Monument of Remembrance 13 has Grette's version of the story.
>But his wavering gave voice to a new wish. That the world, its gods, and he himself be damned. My role was set. My actions bound.
>I existed in that moment solely to give his wishes form. And so I did.
>I answered his desire, his cry of despair…
>And his love, my former shadow, was the price.
That’s not 100% what happen. He refused to make any choice including leaving which created a paradox that made everyone involved meld into a nightmare horror that you face in the end game.
i thought his words at the time were used as a monkey's paw type wish though
Daimon originally was a poor boy whose village got destroyed and was taken in by Arisen Grette and her pawn Olra. Grette eventually defeated the dragon but became the next dragon. During this time the boy and Olra fell in love. In somepoint The boy was made into arisen and the dragon (grette) took Olra away. Daimon was not able to choose between the two loves and cursed the situation and the world and dragon took that as the answer so Olra was sacrificed and something something curse the Daimon the demon guy was born.

For augments, yes, but minmaxing doesn't matter too much; skill and equipment matters most. Pic related.
List them in a .txt file. Nothing else you can do anon.
there is a couple of augments that do matter immensely for classes
for example the ranger the stability augment makes it a lot more difficult for sorcerers to get knocked out of casting a spell, which is something no amount of stats can replicate
Where did I imply augments don't matter? I've completed DD multiple times and have unlocked all skills and augments from every class anon.
So how do augments affect this? Do shit like +% magic augments just affect the innate stats or the total?
They add to your current total. E.g., the warrior strength augment adds 200 to player strength; the sorcerer magick augment adds 200 to player magick, etc..
That's not how the augments work you ninny. They stack multiplicatively and affect your strength after your weapon is applied. If I use vehemence with 300 base strength and a weapon that gives 100 I get 40 extra strength total. If I use a weapon that gives 400 I get 70.
https://dragonsdogma.fandom.com/wiki/Vehemence
>Total strength is increased by 10%.
This is correct
I stand corrected.
>For augments, yes, but minmaxing doesn't matter too much
This is correct, but
>goldforged bbi 3 weapon
Would you kindly stop posting this bait, you'll have maybe a Grigori weapon, maybe a silverforged BBI 2 weapon when it matters, and every bit matters when progressing BBI.
Not to mention defense differences, but then this was made by an MA moron.
You don't need to minmax to the max, but saying "durh it doesn't matter at all" is the most disingenuous bullshit. Just kind of stay in your lane while leveling, get augments from relevant vocations. You don't need this absolutely dishonest image.
>but minmaxing doesn't matter too much
Yeah cool, tell that to my autism. I really wished they would let us spend the stat points freely.
>games should cater to a minority who suffers from mental illness
no they should not
You can go frick yourself.
incorrect take
I played the game back in 2016 but never beat BBI. Just progressed to Daimon for the first time last night. I think this is up there with Old Hunters, Shivering Isles, and Artorias of the Abyss in terms of peak vidya expansion.
I am completely at a loss on how to kill Death as a Red/Yellow. I’ve tried holding his aggro and letting a team of Sorcerers try to DPS him down, but they just don’t process him and walk over to me instead. Also, despite having Scather, my pawn seems to be really stupid about how to attack him. I watched them just walk around underneath and inevitably get clipped by his swings.
I also switched to Magick Archer and tried 4 Demon Periapts – still no luck on harming him. Am I missing something? Is he supposed to be post-Daimon when I have better gear?
Thanks for this. I haven’t read all the Recollections yet but I had misinterpreted the phantom’s lines as I progressed to understand that Grette was Daimon’s literal mother, and didn’t make the connection that Grette failed against the Seneschal and became the dragon he faced. I did notice that Daimon’s dragon was female but that didn’t click. What are the odds that two Arisen would be so closely related?
he's Matt Daimon, famous actor and director who went insane after not winning the emmies or grammies or whatever the frick it is and he got drunk on hell power to kill hollywood

Ah the ol rat ball.
A favorite past time in Gransys.
>Or the dragon was his mommy?
yes
>He fricked a dragon? And a pawn too?
he wanted to frick his mom, he did frick his moms pawn (who looked like his mom now)
>And everyone you fight in Bitterblack is a former Arisen too?
not everyone. death is and the pope might be. don't think the rest are.
the story is pretty awful.
Everything except a handful of the monster types are former Arisen. That's why those moaning corpses are lying around, they're immortal.
it's literally just death and probably the cursed dragons. eliminators and living armor are undead which, as you stated, means they can't be arisen since they don't die.
To become a dragon, and thus a cursed one, an arisen needs to die
What? Arisen die all the time. Or is that not what youre saying?
Honestly the story of BBI is someone interesting but not really that well thought out. I would be surprised if it's either retconned or just never mentioned in Dogma 2.
Should i max out strider and ranger in addition to warrior and fighter to have a good assasin?
It's nice having all the augments at hand so yes
Thank you very much for the advice!
I terms of augment importance it goes Warrior>Strider=Fighter. Assassins lack good augments except one or 2 but make it up with their glass cannon stat growth.
Max out vocations if you think they're fun or want their augments. Stat growth autism is moronic.
Warrior and fighter give 10 and 20 percent strength augments, strider gives one for jump attacks.
So what's a good way to streamline your curatives to minimize bloat? Right now I'm running Spring water x20, Panacea x10, Placative brew x5 and wieneratrice liquor x5.
Also since everything seems to be buyable in unlimited quantites, is it safe to discard shit like food and herbs from my storage? I really dont want to scroll through obsolete single cure items when a panacea does the job.
0 curatives really and scavenge what you can after a fight is over.
Alternatevely just a trip to BBI for Kingswarish
Is there a way to save your sliders?
I kind of feel like just using that metamorphosis scroll on myself and my pawn instead of starting from scratch.
Pen and paper
I'm kind of sold. How does the Seneschal fight change if I decide to use the scroll in NG+? Do I fight my old self? I remember playing it on PS3 and starting over on a clean save after a clear and the seneschal was my old guy.
>Do I fight my old self?
yup
you write them down
Why does he look like Pazuzu?
he doesn't?
Itsuno has a fascination with Pazuzu.
I always thought Beowulf was inspired by Zodd.
Could easily be both since DD had/has some clear Berserk references.
Makes me wonder if Miura ever gave the game a try.
>game about killing demons
>pazuzu is a demon
>draw pazuzu
>call him beowulf
he doesn't
beowulf however is just straight up pazuzu
Itsuno has to pay tribute to the one he sold his soul
he doesn't he looks like a medieval demon
I don't understand how such a mediocre game captivates Ganker's attention so much. must be a terminal shit taste thing.
No other game like it.
I've yet to see a single person tell me a game that's similar enough to rival DDDA's uniqueness.
A game that's open world, has companions, has multiplayer-but-not-really, lets you climb monsters, lets you choose from 9 different classes and freely switch between those, has monsters that are completely immune to X so you need Y.. I could go on, but the point is, there is literally no game like DDDA (or just DD).
>my e-girl is the only small enough party member to get into goblin caves
I kind of skipped this one over despite having a e-girl pawn in my playthrough. How do you get small pawns into the goblin holes? I always assumed only the player could access these.
there's only one hole and it's when you get to the fortress overrun by goblins
if you stand there long enough they can wander down into them
I don't know if they'll ever actually collect the loot or go open the doors to the room that's only accessible from there though. Maybe if they're Pioneer/Acquisitor or something.
It's a flawed diamond of a game. It's flawed but it has soul.
Elder scrolls if it was made by weebs.

Because it's not. You're just a contrarian Black person.
>He fricked a dragon?
He got fricked by the dragon because he found another way out and incorrectly broke the cycle so the dragon got mad and cursed him
>And a pawn too?
Dude fell in love with his pawn instead of whoever the dragon stole, when he went to fight the dragon he told the dragon to frick off and left with his pawn
Since he did not fulfill his role as Arisen and to deter others from choosing the same path he did the dragon cursed him
>Or the dragon was his mommy?
You could say that, since the curse slowly warps him into the half demon half dragon you fight
>And everyone you fight in Bitterblack is a former Arisen too?
Correct, the island attracts Arisen who also decided not to fight the Dragon, the Arisens would eventually be drawn to the island due to the curse so there wouldn't be a bunch of Arisens running about, think of it as Arisen hell where they eventually go mad and lose themselves just like Daimon
I'm astounded how you managed to get every single point so wrong. Are you Grigori's PI guy?
I'm like 70% sure that's the gist of it
I think you might just be moronic, anon
The only anon who got it right is
.
He's not completely wrong about incorrectly breaking the cycle, but that's about it. Grette's account notes that she has no will to fight back against the dragon's innate functions which led to her interpreting Ashe's hatred of the cycle and what it's cost him as him taking the bargain, and it's hard for her to care too much because she's an emotionless dragon-slash-genie now, but she left her account on the monument anyway so that hopefully someone would learn of their tale and use the information about how the cycle just sucks for literally everyone involved to find a way to break it.
completely wrong
Anon I don't where you got most of this from but it's the opposite of what the game tells you.
I don't know shit about the lore, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are a bunch of Arisen out there who never progressed as soon as they got their pawn.
I bet they sort of just worked long enough until they could buy the reusable metamorphosis scroll and just fricked their always-consenting idealized-partner meat holes until they died of old age.
If pawns don't age I bet that the ones that wander about are those exact types. Its probably why they appreciate that the player is actually trying to get shit done.
My pawn hasn’t received anything from yesterday’s thread and today. Probably the anons took it on a big ride and going around I assume
Post your pawn. I'm level 54 so if they're under that I can take them.
>pc
Was she level 46 when you last rested?
Yes sir
Found her.
Thanks bro.
wtf, mystic warrior?
dinput cheats. little overboard but whatever.
dinput8 hooks lets you equip whatever gear on any vocation. Like for instance my warrior pawn has a shield. She even parries with it. I think if you try giving them hybrid weapons though they don't use them.
Amaaaazing a generic child pawn
Excellent snake bait. Somehow made it through both a hydra and an archydra fight without getting eaten once, despite basically living in their mouths for most of both fights.

I'll hire it if you post

Wish there was a BBI upgrade for Fracture
That's weird, splitter is supposed to be there
I'll try rehiring. also I would suggest dazzle blast but I dunno if that actually does much on hard mode.
nope, same skills
Did you switch her to ranger at some point? That would unassign strider specific dagger skills
I'm on switch. He's gone through full warrior proficiency, and is circling back through fighter now
I started getting a lot more hires at lvl 70+
because people do BBI around that level. once you reach 80+ or so the hires will dry up because people will have beaten BBI and not bothered with NG+ or the second run of BBI.
oh wow I hired your pawn in the rift last night. like just randomly. didn't search for her or even specify sorcerers. she just walked up as soon as I entered the rift. she's in my party still.
I bought the character editor thingy from the merchant, I placed a ! to make it easier to search for. She just came back and someone gifted me a pilgrim’s charm. She’s a good pawn!

I gave a silver idol to madeline but she still wont sell me barbed nails. I don't get it.
Have you waited for her inventory to refresh or did you give it to her and immediately try to buy something?
Give her some stuff to boost her Affinity and she'll start selling the nails.
She's max affinity.
It's been a few in game days and I've done some more quests. She's selling them now. I feel like I waited long enough before but whatever. Thanks mang.
Bitterblack Island is a metaphysical trap for all Arisen across all worlds. This is a callback to the original plan of having all worlds linked through the moon take note of how ONLY Bitterblack has a moon. Daimon is fueled by his hatred of the eternal cycle of the Arisen, and has made it his goal to destroy all cycles.
so you've met him
Is there a way for me to dragon forge pawn gear that isn't switching to their class and killing a dragon?
Nope. Only the arisen can DF.
Nope.
you can get it gifted to you as long as it's not in a purification loot table
free dragon forging
Worst part is you have to do a sex change to be able to dragonforge your cute female pawn's feminine gear.
No.
The lowest effort way is to keep an eye for Ur-Dragon grace period, then equip your pawn's stuff, two-three hits, and all your gear is dragonforged.
Still surprised there doesn’t seem to be a mod for this.
He was too b***hy to kill dragon with mommy voice or waifu so the dragon killed her waifu and vored on his chest

Selene.
The she-goat.
I found out in this scene symone actually has the vampire fangs mouth
In this scene are the characters actually voiced by their respective voice or is it just one guy and one woman?
she didn't say anything, just smiled and the scene ended.
Only the blonde mustache guy and Daimon himself are Arisen
The rest are pawns. The human enemies you fight inside are corrupted pawns, they even talk about how they miss being with their Arisen
And Death, and the dragons you fight.
Only the corrupted pawns in the room with the corrupted pawns are pawns. Cursed Dragons have to be arisen by definition, the bodies that litter the floor are arisen, the dark bishop is likely an Arisen but that's not confirmed or deconfirmed, Death is a former arisen and Barroch theorises that many of the stronger enemies are likely arisen that have been utterly warped by the isle
olra is also an arisen. she's just being possessed by a pawn who's also called olra.
BBI's story is so trash
yeah it's a b***h of a stretch and I don't know why they went with that
Probably all of it were leftover assets that were lazily pasted together to squeeze out a few bucks. This was 2k10s capom, the ones who kept trying to sell you SF4 over and over and tried to scam you by paywalling half the cast and selling microtransactions in SFxTekken.
I mean, they are and always be greedy fricks, but they were the greediest during those years.
>New enemies, dialogue, areas, items/gear, abilities put together for a fun dungeon crawling experience
>Was "lazily pasted together" because uhh it just was
The story was told almost entirely through dialogue and the monuments so it would be utterly divorced from left over assets
>New enemies
Cut content.
Dialogue is the cheapest shit to record. You could just get some wannabe VAs in fiver or someshit.
Ok moron.
Bootlicker
>the first time you encounter Death
Kino
Can I just keep her forever?
It's sort of an answer to the fan question of: what if I don't accept the dragon's bargain or the responsibility of being seneschal.
Is Barroch an Arisen? Where is his pawn?
he literally tells you he is in dialogue you gay
Doesn't that mean he should disappear as soon as Grigori dies, like the Dragonforged?
you missed the huge part where the place is pulling arisen from different worlds not just yours
barroch doesn't exist in gransys, he never met grigs
BBI is a nexus like the everfall. Barroch is from another world.
I think he mentioned that but I wasn't paying attention. Are people stuck in BBI? I'm not really sure if exiting is just a gameplay consideration than actual lore.
>Are people stuck in BBI
bro the FIRST ROOM IN THE DUNGEON HAS A VOICE WHICH SAYS LEAVE NOW WHILE YOU HAVE THE CHOICE
do you not pay ANY FRICKING ATTENTION to what you're doing in game?
P. much, I really enjoy mindless grinding. Normally I'd be all over monhun but I'm also into magic shit.
not stuck so much as stubborn or stupid. barroch is just a lazy grifter. really shits on the arisen as a concept but as keeps being said BBI is just meh in this department. may as well be fanfiction.
>really shits on the arisen as a concept
How does it do that?
arisen are supposed to be fonts of will, heroes that spring forth from adversity. we see one whose will faltered in the Duke and it shattered him. making them a bunch of shifty or weak willed schmucks is dumb and pulls the whole group down. neither olra nor barroch seem the type to face down a dragon. how did they get picked?
>Olra
She literally died in Bitterblack. What we're seeing of her might not be the full extent of her personality.
>Barroch
He's stubborn to a fault. I could see him facing the dragon out of spite.
>stand up to dragon because you think you're going to die anyways
>get picked as arisen
>realize you're immortal
>frick off because you're selfish
this is what I meant by shits on them. makes them 2 dollar prostitutes.
How does that shit on them? The prerequisite for being an Arisen is having a load of will power, that doesn't make you a good person, as the duke demonstrates
some arisen ending up prostitutes makes it more special that yours sticks to the path of being a 'true arisen'
Notice how there's been many, potentially hundreds, of Arisen since Savan and you are the only to kill the dragon, let alone actually become seneschal. The others
>Took the dragon's deal because he was scared, went mad, and tries to sabotage the next arisen because he might lose his cosy position
>Failed to beat the dragon, gave up on it and can now only hope that he'll be a bit of help to someone else trying to beat the dragon
>Selene's Arisen, which we know almost nothing about.
>Selene's Arisen
Died of old age, implying she killed the dragon and could not reach the Seneschal's domain at all.
She may have also fricked off to do her own adventures until another arisen killed the dragon. If Selene was truly bestowed of spirit and looks like Sofia did then she must have become an arisen very young
>arisen are supposed to be fonts of will, heroes that spring forth from adversity
Yes to the former, no to the latter. They're fonts of will who have the potential to be heroes, but nothing makes them innately altruistic. Every single arisen who meets the dragon is given the option to pussy out of it with the bargain, it's expected that some of them will do it at the very least. Barroch decides he doesn't want to die pointlessly running around the isle, so makes the most of his position. He clearly still has a great deal of will and strength because most who enter are either killed, corrupted or both
>olra
She's literally a pawn until pawn-olra is freed post-daimon, at which point she is literally someone who was killed before
every other arisen in the game is a failure except for Savan. most of them don't seem to end up being viable.
the only reason you as the player manage to kill the dragon and Daimon is because you get to load a save file after dying. otherwise you'd be equally as shitty as everyone else
I don't care about your self-deprecating pseudish interpretation. I just think it's gay.
I'm sure in your first playthrough you died dozens of times to bandits and harpies. you're as shitty as the shitty arisens that died in the first room of BBI
>can't safeload
>just farm goblins untill you overlevel everything
>kill dragon at level 70 with a maker's finger
if the duke knew Fournival was stocking instakill arrows powerful enough to kill Grigori, the story of the game would've been quite different
Exiting is both. The monument lines and Barroch's lines all heavily imply, if not outright state, that exiting isn't possible and that people are normally trapped within. It's acknowledged that you, the player, have a sort of special position in that you can leave. It may have something to do with Olra bringing you to the isle instead of it "naturally" luring you in and trapping you.
apparently he mentions he lost them wandering the isle
he's just like me
Ranger or Magick Archer? Single class up to level 200, no minmaxing. What's more fun?
For me I had a lot more fun playing Ranger (albeit playing with keyboard and mouse for maximum accuracy)
Ranger is more interactive but Magick Archer has more versatility.
>Ranger is more interactive
I'd say the opposite. MA has less universally applicable skills, you're apt to stand around and spam as a Ranger
never liked MA to be honest. ranger is powerful, but if you end up preferring daggers to your bow then I suggest playing strider instead.
Magic archer is severely overrated. Ranger is both fun and very strong.

Is it impossible to redo quests?
Mercedes just collapsed out of nowhere during an escort quest and her quest is no longer on the board.
Pls respond.
I think you're out of luck
should've kept her safe, anon. if you can't load a save before you started it, then it's gone. thankfully escort quests aren't that important. the shield you get from escorting Mercedes is unique and pretty powerful, but you can get something better eventually
We weren't even fighting anything, she just collapsed and the quest failed.
>magick archer in ddon got to shoot chinese knockoff maker fingers as a skill
do you prefer fighter pawns with devilsbane, cursed light/ascalon, or rusted sword
Cursed Bite
i've barely even gotten level1/2 gear, just been farming daimon for 3s
yeah i asked because i noticed a strider pawn with rusted daggers was doing skull splitters that were actually super helpful on the cursed dragons i was farming
non-enchanted, got it thanks
thanks
other vocations are better at torporing with rusted weapons, and enchanted weapons are a meme 99% of the time
rusted shield bro. pawns perfect block all the time anyway. it's very effective
>Fighter
Go for damage.
Only strider/ranger pawns should use rusty weapons
I havent played in a long time and I think I picked a shitty trait for my pawn at creation, when do I get the ability to change? I'm going sorc/sorc
They don't matter at the start that much, just keep fighting and the inclinations will get better.
Later on in the same tent you got your pawn from, there's a bearded guy that sells inclination potions if it's still a problem.
>favorite all the pawns i hire from here or who hire me after posting
>see all the anon's pawns regularly in gran soren
this is nice
I should start doing this, last year I remember bumping into some pretty good/eccentric ones from Ganker and /vrpg/.
Even if people start new games, you know their new pawns are generally better built than any random one.
i use the gran soren inn a lot in post game for general resetting/getting forgeries from montebank so it's very nice

Same. DDON has some great shit:
>non-shit Warrior vocation
>Alchemist
>Spirit Lancer
>Better climbing attacks
>Sorcery minigame that multiplies your damage as you charge a big spell
Arc of Deliverance needs some I-Frames midswing. After I spend all that time charging it up and getting close to the enemy and finally release, it's annoying as frick to get knocked away half a second before contact
it pains me to say this anon.... but git gud
I'm doing all I can but fighting two condemned Gorecyclopes at once as a warrior is nothing but pain. Especially since they have really shitty physics where they do no damage or stagger to each other, but their attacks can push each other half way across the room, right as I try to attack. No I-Frames on arc is bull and I'll stand by that
I won the fight anyway, but it took a hefty chunk of my curatives and 3 wakestones because I was also fighting the corrupted pawns and 3 garm showed up too
warrior in general is just pain in bbi, wish they had a non-charged skill as good as dragon's maw or brain splitter
Stagger and knock down resistance are both stats you can get to 100%.
I've heard that even if you get them to 100% they don't actually give you immunity
feels nice
I should make my pawn a ranger. Considering how much she stays back when I want her to go in I might actually see that RC number... one day
How do you do it bro? I wish I got that much RC from hires
>How do you do it bro?
Didn't play for years, that's how, hue
But now that I look she still has 2 stars in some monsters knowledge, so if anyone still playing go ahead and educate her
I had no idea what I was doing when I made her
Can you farm pre daimon bbi by never fighting him and just sleeping a couple ddays and still have everything respawn? I need to farm lv 1 armor.

'Neath a faulted sky; cross loamless plains, and watered blight
Ah! Where gone those days, once Glory shone so bright?
Fallen 'neath baleful wings dark as night.
Ah! A moment give to me
Hark! Shall none hear this soul's tale,
Of a land, benight?
Pitiful man whom death has undone,
Leaned upon a broken blade, looks too, skyward.
Prithee above (Almighty One) Be this thy word?
Cried out, begged for truth but no answer's sound be heard.
Yet, now he sees the dragon's dogma,
Unbound by time; all-binding, grand design.
Land and skies, and seas yearn,
Finish the cycle of eternal return.
Finish the cycle of eternal return.
superior title screen coming through
That's beautifull music.
it's from the original version of the game. they had to change the title theme in dark arisen due to licensing issues.
It also fits way less for the game honestly. It's not a bad track, but DA's is much better.
nah
Nah. It's too upbeat, too rocky for a game that's actually very sombre and philosophical in it's nature. It doesn't fit the tone of the game itself.
you act like the story is the only thing in the game, even though it's a pretty miniscule aspect of it
Nah, but for a main menu theme of a Single player RPG. It should be befitting of the story the game wants to tell.
bullshit, the story doesn't even matter until near the end of the game
But that's why it works so well. Because the simple story of "Go get your heart back from the bad dragon" turns into something much greater than yourself that you're forced into without much in the way of say-so. The cycle story works because you truly are, until near the end, just another part of the cycle.
I mean it's a nice song but it doesn't fit the game at all.
if you think Into Free doesn't match dragon's dogma you didn't get dragon's dogma.
'Neath a faltered sky, cross loamless plains, and watered blight.
Ah! Where gone those days, once glooooory shone so bright?
Faaaallen 'neath baleful wings dark as night.
Ah! A moment give to me
Hark! Shall none hear this soul's tale,
Of a laaaand, beniiiiiiiiiiiight?
my brother
Fricking love that webm.
Go fight a Gorechimera, Grigori or Daimon right now and have that play in the background.
what are your ideas for new vocations in Dragon's Dogma? here are my thoughts about a new "green" branch of vocations
>Forager
can use curatives and combine materials more efficiently, and lay traps. fights with a pole
>advanced: Beast Master
specializes in laying traps, and is able to capture creatures to use them in combat. fights with a spear
>green+red: Martial Artist
specializes in staggering and knocking down foes. fights with a pole or bare-handed, and is able to evade attacks using dodges or parries
>green+yellow: Hunter
creates unique arrows capable of debilitating and entrapping opponents
>green+blue: Alchemist
combines magic and natural resources to create unique curatives and tools (such as throwables) that heal/buff allies and damage/debuff opponents
If they're adding non-European things, I want a fast-draw heh kid katana vocation with lots of ridiculous
>10 second charge
>teleporting attack with full invulnerability
>enemy explodes
And I don't even want to play one, I just want to giggle at how edgelord the summoned pawns get
As a Capcom tradition, add a judgement cut too
MK could be replaced with a spellsword or something if paladin is too similar
I would play any of those hybrids.
As much as I appreciate DD's attempt to make a Battle Cleric work in an action game, I really expected more magical fencing and less cast times and aoe blob spells when I thought of red/blue hybrid.
I saw someone suggest a shapeshifter and I really like the idea. If you make it a druid in terms of flavour it still fits the European Fantasy aesthetic. In terms of abilities it could
>Primary is a set of transformations to choose from, each with their own passive abilities. You cast them and they have a charge up time like a spell
>Secondary is different unarmed attacks
Unsure how to handle this one but either you have some basic skills that get enhanced by your transformation or (much harder to implement) each transformation has its own set of secondary skills
Also they get a small number of mage spells to use with staves, like MA and MK
>shapeshifter
>druid
Jesus, please no.
Why do you hate hippies, anon?
Because they're hippies.
Is there something wrong with shapeshifters? I find the archetype rather underrepresented in vidya
There's definitely something wrong with them in DD, they absolutely don't fit in.
I honest-to-God don't see why they wouldn't. Not to say they're a necessity, but I don't see it as out of place either
How would you design a shapeshifter for a game like DD (genuine question)?
It's hard to keep their role and abilities coherent, concise and grounded in scope when, in theory, they should be able to do and be literally anything.
>How would you design a shapeshifter for a game like DD (genuine question)?
Likely some sort of versatile direct combatant, like a melee sorcerer. Have to spend time changing but once you've done your charging you can get good damage or access to different elements/delibitations as the enemies require
>It's hard to keep their role and abilities coherent, concise and grounded in scope when, in theory, they should be able to do and be literally anything.
Can't you say the exact same thing magic users/sorcerers/mages and them, in theory, being able to do anything?
>magic users
>able to do anything
Classic mage archetypes are well-established though, and they're fairly well represented in DD as it is. Black Mages, Elementalists, Healers/White Mages, Necromancers, etc. all have very old and defined roles and a simple list of expectations that any regular RPG player will understand immediately. And none of them have god powers or literally infinite potential or anything like that.
I guess what I was asking is to be more specific in the definition of "shapeshifter" and what it can do. Are we talking something like a lycanthrope, or a polymorpher or what?
>Classic mage archetypes are well-established though
Right, but magic is limitless in theory. So if magic users could be limited, why couldn't this be? Could be a DnD-esque shapechanger where you get scaling forms with defined abilities, or it could be something like
this anon suggests, but there's no reason it couldn't exist just because there's a lot ways it could be implemented
>scales with beast knowledge
>1 star is a basic attack that morphs a limb
>3 star is you just get to be a goblin
I like this idea, Only without full transformation and just partial transformation for some abilities, It can be like blue mage where you need to see certain enemy attacks to unlock them as skills
MESMER
>shadow greaves are only in the original version of the game not dark arisen
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
no? unless you mean you can't get them in BBI
Wiki says so. Are they in the game?
where does it say that? also yes they are, I use them all the time
Well that's good then.
>only in everfall
Frick.
>n
good luck with the rng
Got it at the chamber of resolution after 7 or so godsbanes.
It says that the 13% Cursed resistance at 3* is only in the original, not that the Greaves don't exist in DA.
But will they get Troy Baker as Troy Baker to voice every character? Is he too expensive now? Will it affect his NFTs? Or will they actually hire more VAs?
I GOT THE BASTARD THIS LOW THEN THIS HAPPENED AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH
I want DD2 to have a huge swamp biome but not dark souls kind of poisonous shithole, just ominous muddy forest with creepy abandoned houses and churches, with wisps flying somewhere in the corner of your camera and creepy noises all around
Every time I see this little fricker he goes flying headfirst into the everfall.
Eyes on the prize
I kneel.
Why doesn't capcom release the online DD game for single player, no server shit
>kill maximilian in one hit
>continues talking
>shows up next week
God I fricking love my pawn
She needs a better longbow, she is not hitting very hard right now for her level.
whats an ideal bbi pawn team
3 Striders raised in vocations that have better attack growths.
and then this shit happens
That's why you carry Sapfire Daggers and Heaven's Key, anon. And magic items.
Honestly I find it less of a hassle to carry myself to the neares exit doors instead
you're forced to kill one on the first run through BBI
Well yeah, but all the optional ones get the middle finger
There's a summon stone in the same room, you can just get a sorcerer for that one fight
I laughed pretty hard at that guy considering you can do the quest to kill 2 in the catacombs before hand. the single homie had no hope.
>mfw four at once in the Fallen City
>Thunderwyvern casting torpor AoEs everywhere if you ignore him
>he fricks off into the stratosphere if you don't
>pawns trying to fight the wyvern will inevitably fall off into the streets below and get gangbanged by the armors
>death may just randomly show up if you somehow do well in this fight
the layout with the armor through the city is aids tier. the eliminator one is manageable.
in this playthrough I only ever get the armor layout, it's insane
I'm going to personally find and skullfrick the chucklehead who designed these things.
gold dragonforged heaven's keys pierces through their magic defenses
there's literally nothing that Strider doesn't trivialize
>using nothing but fighter pawns and watching them fight
People sleep on hindsight sweep, the pawns know exactly when to use it, Ive even seen them dodging deaths scythe with it.
Hindsignt, maw and burst strike are my to-go fighter skills. Such a fun class, probably my fav after strider
>90% of high level fighter pawns I find just have blitz maw and nothing else
PUT HINDSIGHT SWEEP ON YOUR FRICKING PAWN
IT'S SO GOOD
Don't yellow classes have some knockback shots? Just throw him in the bin
It's not even their resistances that are the problem. Is the fast, hard-hitting strikes. "haha i'm behi-" and suddenly i have a sword in my face and his shield is back up. Good thing my pawn actually seized the moment and attacked from behind when that happened
I wonder how many startup frames their FMS has. It feels nearly impossible to react to.
There's a reason one of them gatekeeps the entrance to the city before Daimon, first phase.
Not a dragon, not a hydra, not a bunch of eliminators, but a single glowie.
I've gotten pretty good at dueling Living Armors with sword and board, but I just hate how stupid Compass Slash's hitboxes (well, Living Armor hitboxes, really) are. Like you have to play real cautious when attacking because they can just use that one move and from certain angles it's practically instant. I don't even try perfect blocking it anymore because depending on height, angle, and distance the first hit can just clip you while you try to PB the second.
Ok, so what do you hit them with after you crack their armor off? Surging Light Tomes aren't exactly just laying around everywhere...
fighter or warrior can toss them in a pit. still dumb though.
probably cursed light
I just bop em with Cursed Light a bunch. Spam Antler Toss and normal strings because I'm a mere Assassin to knock em down. Before I get Cursed Light online I just rely on tomes and magic pawns and plinking with a Dragonforged Dragon's Ire for next to no damage.
Shattered Earth is more common than Surging Light so I use those more often. Also, they don't do fantastic damage, but you can at least craft Sundering Spear scrolls so I mule those around too.
>I used MA last. I just really didn't like its skillset.
See, and this makes sense to me that MA wouldn't be popular if you were new at the game because it, like Sorcerer, takes more than one brain cell to figure out but eventually proves itself in usefulness. I thought MK was the same way though; most new players need to be told about GC setups with other skills.
OTOH Assassin is really straight forward and until you unlock hybrids the yellows seem to be the most popular with new players. It seems like most new players would naturally evolve from Strider/Ranger into an Assassin at some point. I'm not really sure that what
said is the main factor because most new players wouldn't know about that anyways unless they're all guide-reading chumps, which they probably are.
I was dreading the moment I'd had to fight this piece of shit in my current warrior playthrough but my pawns just cast Fulmination and I absolutely fricking destroyed his shit in less than 2 minutes, it was frankly embarrassing.
He wished to tear it all asunder, since it was such a mockery.
Noticed that when you throw npc into the everfall they do actually spawn a couple of times on the top to fall down again.
Warrior/Fighter/Mage/Strider is the correct team composition
>but you'll be in trouble but not in real trouble
That's the point
I’d rather have a sorcerer then a mage, otherwise one of each is the way to go
Has anyone managed to make a proper dwarf?
I've seen some before. shouldn't be hard to make.
Always looks moronic when you switch vocations and see your hideously deformed body.
Never made one, but seen a ton of short stacks.
We need more shortstack goblins in this game.
Isn't one of presets just straight up dwarf?
Here, take this (virus)

ITS SIMPLE AS ONE TWO THREE ITS WRITTEN IN THE SAND I AM THE FRICKING DANGAAAAN
I actually look through them and nothing in them matters because at the end she recommends using 4x periapts for everything anyway. this is the type of shit that turns people off and for good reason.
4 periapt and blast arrows break the game.
it's also super gay and boring.
Good for helping other arisens. I've stormed through BBI with Ganker pawns to gift them BBI gear etc all the time.
Then don't use em. Single player game.
I don't and I judge you for doing it so how about that?
And I judge you for posting an ssj3 ugoo
>she recommends using 4x periapts for everything anyway
sad
I genuinely thought IC would be more based than that.
>She
could call the thing it for all I care. her vids aren't awful but I don't care for youtube """"culture"""" or meme shit.
what endgame healing items do you guys use?
or rather how da frick do i farm kingwarish
>what endgame healing items
Wokestones, fully heals hp, stamina and debilitations.
Stock up on on Sauces
Hoard Salubrious Brews
Bottle as much Spring Water as I possibly have the patience for
Yes. I agree.
I remember seeing someone on here or /vg/ with a dwarf pawn.
Based goblin enthusiast, that's a fine crew right there.
Hoping I can find someone who made a goblin mage/sorc and then my team will be truly complete.
How in god's name do you make the game less tedious. Every time I want to give it another try, I inevitably give up 10 hours in because everything feels like such a slog to do.
Then who was Daimon II?
me
Daimon
the cursed body of Ashe that became it's own entity after killing so many arisens
Apparently there's more than one
Remember, if you kill Grigori fast enough you can save Gran Soren
In 300 hours.
This is fine. I'm fine
if you had put those 300 hours in a year ago you'd be lucky to get half that tbh.
A year ago I'd be around 200 hours and around 35 hires
why is BBI an island wouldn't it make more sense for it to be in the everfall? and what the hell happened to grette?
I was told it's in the Rift and that makes sense since it has a moon but I don't think that's ever stated.
good game
What's the point of minmaxing? Do you need to be level 200 to actually finish all content?
>Do you need to be level 200 to actually finish all content?
lol no
You'll finish dd + da way efore hitting 200
So why even bother? Just to re-do it but better? Is there any gain?
>So why even bother?
Because the game is aeons old and sweaty try hards need something to do.
you will kill Daimon v2 slightly faster. that's pretty much it.
I wish there was a way to lock your level, being 200 just means your pawn is also 200 and it cuts down on random rentals
Minmaxing is used for getting past enemy defense values earlier and with less gear. After that, it's just so that you can kill things half a minute quicker. You don't need to be level 200 though, even for the second run of BBI.
Its not needed at all. Current / top end gear + proper damage augments get you past every defense break point in the game easily, and you can still use attack buffs, enemy debuffs and abuse elemental weaknesses to enhance your damage a shitload. Min maxers just wanna speed run kills and the thought of not fighting something they lock eyes with like an NPC pokemon trainer drives them crazy.
Assassin. Max dragon forged bow from chest after whacking Damion.. Whacked Damion with everyone carrying around 30 blast arrows. After that, the game is permanently easy mode. Hell, before that it is with those damned blast arrows. Go all out with those crazy armor items with wild enhancements that you get in those cases after whacking Damion over and over again, hell I can't even remember the armor set name, there were two versions, one slightly bluish but the other was extremely flat black. You had to go through dozens of them to find the enhancements you wanted because it was random per piece. Framace blades.. Forgot which sword made you crazy deadly. Those crazy augments.. Damn, been like 3 years since I messed with that game.. Forgot a bunch of little details. Had pawns that all had High Bolide. Just sat back and watched them nuke everything. Cute game, especially when I'm high and don't feel like trying to hard. The climbing monsters thing was damned good.
Mystic Knight seems to be the most popular job nowadays, but for sure THE most popular used to be Assassin, right?
Am I remembering correctly, or is that my mandela effect talking? I think it fell out of favor because casuals kept getting filtered by ghosts.
assassin got nerfed in DA.
unsure MK took its place though, Strider and MA are the other easy mode classes
>Strider and MA are the other easy mode classes
Buddy, you don't even know how tough it is to have iframe dodge, mobility and both melee and ranged options + outstanding dps. Life is hard for us yellows.
>MK fighting a boss
Abyssal Anguish
elemental riposte
great cannon(multiple times)
have to time your attacks so you're not stuck in animations when an enemy attacks so you get your perfect parries
>Strider fighting a boss
jump
brain splitter
>Strider fighting a boss alt edition
eat 4 periaps
equip exploding arrows
blast boss face with fivefold
Ah, forgot about the periapts.. Demon was it for those blast arrows?
>warrior fighting a boss
only took you 6 minutes to respond, still shorter than your charge time
gotta give them a chance
satisfying to use against garms. To give it a (now seemingly outdated) term: Yeet
it's really just gorecylopes that it doesn't work on, and the guy who decided they didn't need a hitbox under their armor needs a punch in the mouth.
For me it's climbing on their heads and giving them a pommel in the nose
You sure showed them boss toes.
tickle tickle
>Strider and MA are the other easy mode classes
All I was getting at is that MK seems to win the popularity contest among new players.
IDK if they're reading guides or taking people's advice from YT or what, they just seem to gravitate towards it by sheer instinct. Maybe they want to cast but Sorcerer is too hard?
And for some reason I remember that Assassin had that most popular spot originally and then suddenly everyone decided to switch over to MK.
Personally I used MA last. I just really didn't like its skillset. "explody arrow", "set self on fire", "icy arrow", "blitzy arrow that only works inside". It just did not convince me that it is fun. My opinion has changed by now though, love 'em all
In terms of skill multipliers and stat growth, or are you talking about the 1.8x damage cap?
Both the cap and its actual augments got nerfed. A solo assassin running the solo augments could get some crazy numbers
>Autonomy
>originally 1.7x
>now 1.2x
Frick pawns, post Assassin builds.
>Sword
Blink Strike
Powder burst
Clairvoyance
>Shield
Shield Storm
Showdown
Shield Drum
>Dagger
Hundred kisses
Gale force
Masterful Kill
>Bow
Whatever lol
>Clairvoyance
I really wanted to like it but it does nothing.
>Sword
Dire Gouge
Antler Toss
FMS
>Shield
Shield Drum
Really wish that Assassins got Shield Onslaught for the 8x shield damage build
>Dagger
I'm just a Fighter with a bow
>Bow
Fivefold Flurry
Lyncean Sight
Mighty Bend
Thinking about using dinput8's skill sets option to dynamically swap out Dire Gouge for Great Windmill/Intimate Gambit so it can be a little more like Hundred Kisses.
I wish stone forest was better cause I love how it looks
why are pawns hail hitler-ing me
What are the best inclinations for a Strider pawn if I want max damage output from them?
No such thing, but Challenger/Mitigator
something like scather/utilitarian I guess
Scather can make them climb more than you want, and if your pawns don't have max bestiality rank utilitarian is pointless
>guardians
>acquisitors
>sorcerers without voidspell
>sorcerers without any nukes
>sorcerers with high maelstrom
>mages
>striders without skull splitter
>rangers without tenfold flurry
>rangers with great gamble
>fighters without dragon's maw
>fighters with dragon's maw but literally nothing else
>fighters with shield skills other than shield summons/drum (cymbal onslaught is acceptable if the shield can inflict status ailments though)
>warriors with any charge skill
shield springboard on a pawn is fun though
>fighters with shield skills especially shield summons/drum
Fixed
I hire Maelstrom pawns either intentionally or by accident. Ask me about anything other than my eyes.
Pawns with base, unupgraded Maelstrom are good. I wish there were more of those.
>hire pawn with maelstrom
>uses it on golem
>cant see shit and its not damaging the weak points
worst part is it was a pawn from these threads so I didnt want to give it low stars
>fighters with dragon's maw but literally nothing else
ok so the rest of your post is about shitting on bad pawns but now you're also shitting on good ones
I was being cheeky with that one but I firmly believe fighter pawns have much more to offer than dragon's maw spam
They're very good at only using blink to close distance
And few talk about the real secret sauce: double barbed nail Antler Toss spam
antler toss is a beast of a skill that's so slept on it's almost criminal
hindsight strike/antler toss/dragon's maw as a set will stagger literally everything. monsters can't help but kneel
Absolutely soulless behaviour
pawns don't have souls
I just don't hire yellows. I don't even really know why. I only do it if it's one pawn from a random anon hire, but otherwise I don't deliberately do it.
good strider pawns are insane. you're missing out.
>voidspell
just carry 1 panacea per trip, you're not fighting wieneratrices that often
you're coming across a frick ton of leap worms though
What speech patterns do you have for your pawn?
I don't want to tell my secrets
All reticent
Stop telling our secrets
Arrogant/confident for my tall big titted elf.
Aggressive/Confident on everything except Timid on getting hurt because it makes her go "Ow!" and that's pretty cute. She's a big brown woman.
Are offline pawns worth it? I'm not sure if 2 badly built morons would pull their weight as ablative hp.
your exp gains are divided among your pawns, so the more you have the less exp you get. so I'd rather have no pawns than keep dead weight around.
If nothing else, grabbing two offline Sorcerer pawns in the 45-50 range for reliable Suasion access is handy if you ever want to sell something. But the further you go, the more their gear gets outclassed. I think Fighter pawns at 200 are capped at unupgraded Cursed Light/Carnation and some of the prebuilt skill sets don't have Dragon's Maw or have some obvious bad combination of skills, for instance.
>come arisen, i have aught really important to tell you about your current quest
tis work well doing in these trying times 😀
'ELLO 'ELLO
>*breathes in*
THE WIND IS PUSHING MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Well I finally got back to my pc and I can start to slowly level up
How's hardmode? Is it actually more fun or is it just a straight hp boost?
https://dragonsdogma.fandom.com/wiki/Hard_Mode#Overview
no HP boost
That's misleading. No hp boost but increased stagger/knockdown resistances means monsters will live longer and deal more damage.
It mostly gives a stat boost to enemies but it also increases you rewards. If you're able to get past the early game on hard mode then you may actually find it easier as you zip through levels and a frick ton of gold.
>Spend most of the game as fighter/warrior
>Switch between red and yellow vocations for the latter half of BBI
>Despite both using weapons in the same tier yellows just melt things
What the frick? An arc of devastation to weak spot doesn't feel like it does as much damage as a hundred kisses spam to a weak spot. It does feel more satisfying though
framae blades are broken fwiw but yes BBI becomes a bit tiresome against anything but eliminators on a warrior.
>framae blades are broken
My 2* (now dragonforged) helmbarte daggers feel stronger than my silver dragonforged twinpaler. Haven't done many fighter comparisons because the game absolutely refused to give me any swords whatsoever until I finally rolled a cursed bite post daimon
>My 2* (now dragonforged) helmbarte daggers feel stronger than my silver dragonforged twinpaler.
because it is. only a few hundred less damage but spammable. the BBI guys seem like they were insulted at the thought of red beating their monsters.
Do people dislike Maelstrom on sorcerer pawns?
melee players
I prefer to see.
t. fighter main
When you need to see it's annoying so people don't hire pawns that use it. But since I play on pc and know how to mod the blur away I don't mind it.
Base Maelstrom is fine. More than fine, actually -- it sucks people in, it throws people up, it deals decent damage to big monsters, it goes away before too long. But High Maelstrom overstays the frick out of its welcome, and like
so eloquently put it, I prefer to see - and not being able to see can be annoying at best, but very dangerous at worst.
>can't play the game blind
Pathetic
>hire normal pawn
>has helium voice
into the brine with you
He bascially one arisen that completely refused the dragon's deal. Kill the dragon his mentor/relative of some degree or sacrifice his pawn. Fueled by other arisen's hated of the destiny placed on them. This why he calls you a slave to a broken order. The first fight is definitely with the essence of that arisen, but the second time his moves/spells are different also well...obviously the 2nd phase as well. BBl is an place of pure evil and regret. You can make the meaning as complex or simple as you want.
>spec my fighter pawn for massives knockbacks and shit
>gets possessed
>tosses me around like a sack of shit
welp
at least they don't deal any real damage to you because physical melee damage from possessed pawns is reduced to a fourth of its original value, while ranged and magical damage aren't
possessed yellows and blues are VERY dangerous whereas reds are just funny
yeah it did 0 damage to me. just kept tossing me around.
>Beat Dragon's Dogma
>Never learned how to one-shot enemies
>Just kept eating herbs when I was weak.
How do I get good without being autistic?
unironically go out alone, no pawns, so you learn enemies better
buy a bunch of periapts for the damage type that you deal and use 4 of them before fighting a strong enemy
that's like 80% of it
I hate that there is no option to just reload. You always have to go back to main menu and re load from there. And going back to checkpoint usually means going all the way back to Gran Soren or something.
you get an item to do exactly that
>Reload? have a nice day
Bro?
Did she died?
>see what your shit rolls do to me, Orla??
pls redeem this ma'am
>max level
good luck having anyone be able to find her. I couldn't
search for level 199 pawns. it brings up both level 199 and 200 ones. searching for 200 only brings up offline pawns.
I wish you could just blacklist pawns because all of my steam friends' pawns (except for one) are total shit but they pop up in the rift every time
I keep buying shit from Reynalds and I still cant get him to give me his quest
Do you buy it one by one? As in, buy one, exit dialogue, repeat?
yes
Then do it more.
The more missed quests I go through the more I hate the ending
What's the best way to setup a sorc pawn??
Challenger and then Utilitarian works well
>fifth weapon BBI chest that contains a fricking sorcerer weapon for my main pawn
>still have the first longbow in the game that sucks huge dicks
>my pawn REFUSES to cast any spell, even the short casting ones, for no reason at all, always interrupts herself mid casting out of nowhere
How the frick am I supposed to progress in this shit? Outside of stacking 1000 throwblasts?
If you want a bow you both need to be yellow vocations. Staves shouldn’t even be in the pool.
>2 gorecyclopes, 2 eliminators and 2 garms in a single room
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
