They have a much larger "lightweight" and "light" threshhold, which lets them move faster, obviously the effect is lost if you dont stay in the threshhold. heavier character have a smaller light and lightweight threshold, but much larger of the others, depending on how youve made your character.

Don't get your hopes up too much. So far, no current gen release that didn't run at 60 fps on consoles had good PC performance. Even if it has a good PC port, most people on Steam don't have the hardware that could run this game at max settings and 60 fps. I'm not sure why PC gays always pretend that everyone has top end hardware when according to Steam hardware stats, the vast majority of people will be lucky to fit the minimum requirements.

If DD runs at 60 fps on console, it runs at 60 fps on all consoles, but right now it looks like it will be locked to 30 and frankly I'd prefer locked 30 fps over the unstable 35-50 fps in games like Forespoken or FF16.

It's held back on X because all the dev time went into making it actually run on S. There will probably be a 60fps patch SX in the future, but having 5 times more SS in the market than SX hurts the more powerful console as the higher user base gets all the attention.
Microsoft never had an issue to release a 30 fps version for the Series S and a 60 fps version for the Series X. The Series S doesn't hold back anything you console warrior freak.

I think they genuinely want you to consider using carts and shit as means of travel other than just sprinting all over the place. Which is especially true when taking into account all of the various dynamic events that can supposedly occur based on how you're traversing. Honestly I'm kinda into it.
Travelling by cart had better fricking be faster if they want everyone to do it. Being real though, it'll probably be slower than travelling on foot and also lock you into the whole trip.
You can just close your eyes with a button prompt and you'll just arrive at your destination (or get woken up partway if the cart gets attacked), you don't need to watch the entire trip, though you can if you want to.

I just don't understand why they are reverting back to something they already figured out was shit in DD1. I mean, Capcom themselves added the eternal ferrystone to the game because they realized the original system sucked. You can still limit the fast traveling by only giving players a select number of port crystals, or get rid of port crystals entirely and only allow fast travel between a select handful of places. But consumable ferrystones was objectively a shit design choice that Capcom themselves decided to fix with Dark Arisen.
The hope is that they're making adequate changes to the movement, world, and quest design such that it will be stay fun rather than get tedious. Though it doesn't appear that will be the case.
Well the cart system is entirely new. There are wandering npcs and carts now that you can just hitch a ride with to a location, they will sometimes be attacked but its still something that feels a bit more organic and in world than just Skyrim fast travelling wherever whenever. That shit would make the world feel tiny.

That's because the games with fast travel are so poorly designed (precisely because they were built around fast travel) that travelling from A to B is inherently poor and worthless, they are games where no interesting choices have to be made when travelling.

You do realize that the ox cart is a type of fast travel, right? While you can just ride the cart the whole way, you can also just close your eyes, and it fast travels to the destination (unless it gets interrupted by a random event).
Plus ferrystones are still in the game too, why does it matter that they are single use convenience items?

I'm telling you, moving from vanilla DD to DDDA almost ruined the game for me since I don't have to manage my ferrystones anymore. The whole sense of exploration kinda just went out the window. There are moments where I forgot to pack an extra ferrystone and have to track back while low on curatives, dead party, no healer, and pretty much fricked that got me some of the most gripping moments in the game.

monster hunter style healing. you can eat grass while walking but you're open to attacks. standing still heals faster. the more damage you take the more hp loss unless you rest at a camp.
