Whats your dream RTS? For me it's a RBT set in the Fallout universe. With Fallout factions in the style of C&C.

I hate his Planetary Annihilation so I don't have much hope for whatever you're talking about, the increased dimension with planets was nice, but the game's pace was too fast to manage so many perspectives compared to the smaller scope and slower supcom.

I took a look, are you talking about Interplanetary Space Empire on Kanoogi.com?

A complete rework of the concept of Crusader Kings, turning it from an open sandbox to a series of campaigns covering key historical moments in Western Europe and the Near East. These campaigns would be at its longest 100 years and while dynastic play may be important, it wouldn't be the main focus.
Rather, the core aspect ought to be a close historical simulation of the government and social dynamics of the periods covered, making the player incarnate specific noble houses without arbitrary tier-limits. He may find himself playing as El Cid and his household during the taifas in Iberia, or at the head of the Angevins during the Second and Third Crusades. No matter the character or family, the important part is that the period must be recreated as close as possible giving long and short-term objectives related to the theme of the campaign.

I'd like to have a early cold war era naval combat rts with properly implemented beach landings/assaults. Something that'd let me play out battles like the battle of the Paracel Islands in 74

blizzard innovating and re-creating horde an alliance as ai controlled mega factions that constantly fight back and forth for territory in azeroth.
Then allowing high ranking players to control small garrisons in a new warcraft 4 esc game that borrows heavily from their established rts.
This would be rts integrated into an mmo environment where matches would occur in border regions between horde/alliance players.
As mmo players (whether rpg or rts) push the borders of one side vs the other the difficulty of taking the territory of the factions trying to defend its territory its territory exponentially increases.
The complexity of which should not be limited to a stat buff but to a multifaceted defensive bonus
This allows for numb nuts to constantly bash their heads against the AI and lower pop faction and the lower pop faction to get wins still. Eventually the lower pop faction will win back territory and the bonuses reset.
This would be correct world pvp and a good rts to revive warcraft 4 and revitalize the pvp community. Allowing for EVE online type stuff to go on and for a true MMO RTS to be born.

I just want to make an updated version of the Combat Mission games, but with a lot more QoL features, rolling back the scale to company sized elements, and giving the AI units more autonomy so players don't have to waypoint every little thing to avoid pathfinding issues.

a land of shifting landscapes and faceless people.
    random jumps in time.
    sometimes theres random nonsensical words.
a real palpible sense of tension.
but you always wake up before the height of it.
maybe sometime feelings that might not make sense.
sometimes theres certain unspoken understandings that seem way more complex than they could be.
the action almost seems to embody the people instead of people embodying the action.

This thread would've been better if it was for strategy games in general and not just RTS.
Also, my dream RTS would probably require decades of AI advancement before it can be made. I want something that is fully immersive where I can actually have real conversations with my virtual delegates who carry out my orders.

      Anonymous

      why bother with that.
i heard bill gates hires an assisant to click on starcraft 2 whenever he wants to play it. he just issues orders to his assistant.
have a moba/mmo style rts where one person builds buildings, one controls each branch of military. and the generals issue orders and have special meta sffects ala black and white spells, 7th legion and 40k strategems.
or an rts with an invasion mechanic where players can take over micro

For an RTS it would be dumb.
For actual mil sim games like Combat Mission (but more advanced and not a clunky piece of shit) or even grand strategy games, AI delegation would be great.

          Anonymous

teach people teamwork, delegation just streamlines the gameplay, add bots later.
better to have players blame each other than blame the company for poorley implimented or nitpicked ai.

I think the idea of full scale wars conducted by human teams is a cool idea, especially in a competitive setting, but most people would rather play single player.

              Anonymous

theres alot of people that enjoy moba.
they turned warcraft into a coop game.
the best they have for coop rts is playing teams.
for all the shit moba gets, people like specialized roles meta.
is pve hedging out pvp in mmos?
cooperative board games have been the biggest development in strategy games imho.
rts pc strategy and sim still have to flush out all the cooperative aspects.

if competitive rts main complaint is asiaticclick then it seems like easing the load by spreading out who does the clicking where.

people like playing single player rts becuase its more comfy than competitive rts. and theres no social aspect to it other than shittalking your opponent.

Are you talking about persistent wars between teams that can last several days/weeks or just team vs team battles that can last between 20-60 minutes? If the latter, what is different in your concept compared to games like Steel Division for example that already offer team vs team warfare?
The biggest problem with persistent campaigns is that it's easy for one guy to be a mole and just leak all the plans to the enemy team. Just one of the reasons why people would prefer to delegate to AI in that case.

                Anonymous

ill have to check out steel division.

but im just talking about mil sim type games and theory sstuff. in which case players playing double agents would be part of the game, that would probably be involved in metagames with guilds and such. like you can betray your team , but the guild would penalize you.

that would be cool to offer a persistant battlefield where players rotate out to maintain agression. like you play as your naval commander until you get flagged to rotate out or you tag someone when youre done playing.
as far as managerial shit goes scheduling is a skill that is horribly lacking.

                Anonymous

The spy/double agent stuff is more interesting in real life wars than it is in video games in my opinion. Too easy and requires virtually no effort in the online world, especially in games that require no vetting process to weed out the potential spies.
But I wouldn't be surprised if in the future we see "virtual wars" become a new sport/competition between corporations. Double agents would be more interesting if the corporations were hand picking their "players".
You might also want to look into the game Foxhole if the idea of persistent wars interests you.

                Anonymous

                foxhole looks cool.

if players want to cheat as part of their strat why not incorporate it into the game itself?

Espionage in real life requires talent and effort, and has security risks for the agent being caught.
Espionage in a video game doesn't really require any effort. That's my problem with it.

Combined arms Code Geass RTS, with full use of conventional units augmenting the Knightmares from the first season (minus the later power creep of the Gundam ripoffs)

You could have the three major factions:

    Chinese Federation as spammers
    EU as the technical/subversive faction

    lots more potential to elaborate
