Dying Light

This is my favorite game of all time. I have played it 6 times and I'm about to play it for the 7th time. The soundtrack is amazing and I regularly listen to it. The story is corny but it gets the job done and at times it feels like a cozy 90s action movie. The parkour is great. The combat is very visual, breaking bones, cutting of limbs and the way the ragdolls work doesn't get old.

We don't talk about the sequel.

Is Dying Light 2 that bad?

      Anonymous

No, its fine, its not a bad game, its just really underwhelming and didnt expand and improve on the first game, it was more like a lateral and even downslope in some parts. They made combat "balanced" and removed the fun of the first game because of it.

Something that pissed me off with it
      >zombies now die in sunlight
      >people live on rooftops because of this
      >when in game when you go out in the daytime there are completely empty streets, as in, there is not a single zombie
What the frick are you doing game, not only does this make the world less dangerous from a writing perspective yet everyone still acts like it is, it makes the game run into times when there is not a single zombie anywhere to be seen, you only run on rooftops because there is loot, not because you have to as there are wall to wall zombies on street level, you can just run on street level perfectly fine because theres so few enemies now. Pic related, they made the maps more vertical, but reduced the amount of zombies to the point where its basically just a freerunning game first, rather than having it be an aspect of the game like the first game. This game was such a dissapointment, but its not technically a bad game.

Yeah, this is correct. They also somehow downgraded the combat visuals/ragdolls. There's probably a video on youtube comparing the two and first games combat looks and feels very different and way better.

Dying light 1 is an instant cult classic that deserves praise, the second game doesn't go unrecognized in the fact that it is also incredibly fun but somewhat lacking, in dying light 2 you are more akin to playing at night due to the difficulty levels in the game that make night in 2 so much easier 2 be in as opposed to 1. 1 makes you afraid of going out at night, the second you leave a safe zone you are greeted with the feircest enemy of both games. The volatile. In 1 they walk around prowling and looking for you while also gaurding the bolter feeding grounds and nests. The dark zones in 1 are practically volatile breeding grounds that make you terrified to even look in the direction of. While in 2 you have dark zones with biters and virals, which while annoying, are not as challenging or scary as the dark zones of dying light 1. Dying light 1 also has more gamemodes that need to be brought to the second game or at least need to inspire new gamemodes to allow a more diverse fame design. While the city map (central loop) of 2 is vast and in depth in both design and size, the slums are more diverse and chaotic looking for the apocalypse style that was demonstrated of both, the highway leaving the city crumbled down and destroyed with a area across the broken part of the bridge into one of the greatest concepts of the game. The infected military medical blockade. One of the most in depth and cared for designs of the game. Dying light 2 has incredible building designs that involve indoor puzzles that beat out the first game but in overall difficulty the second game is childsplay in comparison to the first. By far 2 of the greatest zombie games ever made but the first is better than the second 9 out of 10 times.

The problem with DL2 is: Once you see the flaws you will realize the wasted potential. The major reasons why I prefer Dl1 over DL2 is the environment, atmosphere, better horror vibe, better side quests, more rewarding exploration, less grinding, better visual art design, soundtrack and much better nights.

Not him, but I like both, I enjoyed DL1 and I don't I got to play more of the same if only slightly worse in some aspects. I hope they correct it if they ever make a third installment, like bringing back zombies ragdoll physic from 1 and using the combat against human from 2. Also enjoyed the op crossbow as ultimate frick you weapon that just one shots everything.

Night was actually stressful in DL1, the hookshot was better, it had a kick-ass car portion, had guns, and wasn't even close to being as buggy as DL2

In dying light 1 the atmosphere was oppressive and the nights were terrifying, for me the action also blended well into the horror so it was a perfect mix.
I also find I plan my movements more in dying light 1, there’s a reason to stick to the rooftops even in the day. I also really like the stuff you can do in fights, I love the bone breaking mechanic a lot it means I can actually think on the fly and change what I’m doing depending on what’s around me; in dying light 2 everything that was a part of dying light 1 just felt like a formality to me, all the same stuff just less sustenance also the parkour feels weirdly floating and I like it a lot less

        >tries to pull rank with time played
Looks like I outrank you if thats the metric for who to listen to. As I said before, it is not a bad game, it is just not as good as DL1. They improved it a lot since the launch but there is no getting around the dogshit story and core mechanics of the game, like the way ragdolls and combat works in 2 is just not as fun as in 1. They have written themselves into a less fun setting with just the daylight thing in my opinion, virals are super rare spawns in daytime, where in 1 they were the consequence of making too much noise
        >but thats the same as in 2
and they die in seconds without you doing anything becuase they take damage from the sun now and since there is no guns there is not many ways to make a lot of noise unless you are setting off bombs, guns were integral to DL1s experience of "I can kill them easily, but I will draw stronger enemies" that the second game utterly lacks. I would go so far as to say the DL2 event they did where they just ignored this piece of writing and had virals spawn constantly in day time as regular zombies would mutate was the most fun the game was, because there was an actual threat in the daytime and something to fight with that wasnt fricking bandits who are anti fun to fight.

One thing I can't stand about DL2 is that there's no option for playable character customization for a game that ostensibly is multiplayer online. Original DL was a long time ago with a AA studio so it was at least understandable to have 4 Cranes running around or whatever, but DL2 being based on a single character or whatnot just seems lazy as frick, especially when it was sold at $60-100 at launch depending on version. Though the better choice instead would have been
      >Pick character sex
      >Customize appearance
      >refer to character by "last name" if they really needed to deal with it for script reasons.
      or at very fricking least
      >Pick either Aiden whateverthefrick or Rosario Dawson character, whichever you don't pick will be the npc you meet.
      >Customize hair and other physical features, outfit/gear.

but just "single fricking guy, referred to by his first name, all online play is 4 copies of the tard" is not fricking acceptable especially for a full priced title.

No, that's the second hardest difficulty that was added by a patch or a dlc (i don't know because i get my games for free).
It removes the loot witcher sense and reduces hud elements, healing is done over time, opening your inventory no longer pauses the game and stuff like that.
The enemies don't have as inflated of an inflated hp pool as on the hardest difficulty and the hardest difficulty has the fully gamey ui together with a semen meter.
