So I've played about 12 hours of this now, so feel qualified to give my oppinion on it.
Its good, exploration is top notch I think people just get too hyper focused on the bosses. People that are struggling with the boss fights, I suspect that both Dancing Lion and Rellana are not suppose to be encountered until much later, I smashed my head into a wall and made it past both. But in hindsight I think I did them at the wrong time.
>dancing lion
goes to a dead end (for now) so there's no point beating him unless you want a spell
>Rellana
Opens the world map up more
I suspect Rellana is actually the first boss of the game, but I didn't realize until after I beat her that I'd miss a load of other areas you can access from the base area which I suspect means you're suppose to fight her have your shit pushed in then go and search for other areas because there's numerous other areas you can go to instead of her to get stronger and I'm doing those areas now after her and they feel too easy (except for bael who I just walked away from and left until later)
exploration is shit. In my 5 hours of exploring I didn't have one memorable encounter like in the base game. Name me one cool encounter or thing you found well exploring?
The pot cave, dragon cave the foundries the cerulean bay. I've seen plenty of cool places.
The pot cave was fun. I just got done with that level.
The only other other thing I can think of are the giant lightning rams which were funny.
Pot Cave was a chilling experience. Then you die, and realize you have to slog throguh the whole thing again. The boss you fight is Yoda who seems hard until actually get hits on him. And your reward is...a spirit ash. Not even the weapon he uses.
Lamenter
Just who the frick was this guy? That dungeon was great. But seriously why did this guy seem so unique?
He would hit you with a skullbash type of Ash of War and you'd have Hornsent skulls circling your head and if you got hit again, more would get added. I had a full ring of like 6 of them and didn't notice it doing anything different to me.
Then he also gives an item that transforms you if i read the description right. I did not use it.
Who is this guy??
If the circle of faces completes it instakills you
What you didnt fight the same dragon 2 times, which is the same dragon that you already fought 15 times but this time his fire is black and white?
>Mfw the jagged peak
>1 dragon
>Then 1 big dragon and 1 small dragon
>Then frickhuge dragon
This is so stupid
The npc questline for it was pretty entertaining though.
i found shit ton of the same stupid fricking bird enemy that just hovers and stunlocks you if you miss the first hit. thats pretty cool right
I killed the Wickermen with Ancient Dragon Lighting from underneath, that was pretty memorable.
My gut feeling is nothing anyone here says will satisfy you. You already made your mind up about this game being shit and uninteresting.
it's a hard dlc and it's not for casuals
you can definitely cheese it but that requires actually knowledge of the game which casuals don't have
even Miyazaki made the easy mode so fricking blatant
Boc's vengeful twin brother had a katana and raped my ass doing flying ninja moves
The river cave. You’re exploring, it’s boring at first just some wolves. Then you fall through some rocks and end up in a river of blood. You follow the river down and see some giant mole/omen freaks doing some sort of sick ritual. And you have to kill them all.
I found the same thing bro. It’s just some retextured omens standing in ankle deep red water.
I fricked around and accidentally came across a gorgeous sea of blue flowers. Before that, I accidentally meandered my way into a sea of red flowers and fought a mariner, only to ens up getting jumped by one of those homosexual nobles.
Giant fires that have protected legs so you can't just smack them for ten minutes have the funniest interesting gimmick than anything in base game
You have to make big fire pots and chuck them into their basket from the high ground
>have to play basketball with wickermen
>Rellana has CHAIS DUNK attack
>Messmer does a slam dunk
Someone at From really likes basketball, huh?
The way to the mountaintop dragon was KINO
Call me a pussy but I legit scared when I trek it. Sky crackling, narrow bridge, the alien structure on the right, the reddish tint etc. The lack of living things really hammers down the solitary feel of the area, making it scarier than it should be. When I reached the area where two dragons fight I actually felt relieved.
So yeah, kino, but I think I will only return to beat that ancient dragon then leave the area alone.
>fighting 2drake
>only the weak one remains
>get summoned as a blue
>come back, drakelet is gone
Literally got NTR'd by From's bad design. Why would they do this?
>the pot cave
slop, no good loot, awful boss
>dragon cave
more slop
you people sicken me for allowing fromsoftware to get away with this lazy bullshit
>slop
Discord troony, you have not played it
The dungeons are all a step up and finding the new areas is great. At 5 hours if you've been casual then you'll still have a load of shit to find. The game did feel a little empty to me but as I progressed I stopped expecting secrets and unique shit to be everywhere.
>Stumbling upon Igon
>walking into a cave infront of him
>Defeating a dragon man that would one shot me with any move
>Walking out the entrance behind him and discovering the dragon peaks.
>Killing the various bosses as you descend
>meeting igon as he CURSES THAT wienerSUCKER BAYL
>Getting to the top and putting that fricker down
Organically discovering the depths where st Trina was actually pretty sick. Bayle the Dread was cool. Idk I think it's on par with from dlc quality.
So far the only place that was shit was that plateau with the birds and the cave with dragon-men. I was extremely pissed when visiting it, then I went in the canyon below and it was also mediocre. Rest of the map is way better thankfully.
This mf is lying, the saint knights hunting the dragon was magnificent
yeah its breddy gud.
Yeah I’m at dancing lion and getting frickin rekt
I explored but didn’t find a way further east so I’m gonna go try and do that to find a good int weapon and maybe try rennalla after getting a few more skibidis
My trust long sword and carian big sword ash of war doesn’t cut it here
Renalla is gigarape compared to the lion
If you can’t be satisfied then your opinion is meaningless.
chink wukong gacha shill spotted
>5 hours
laughable, though doubt your troony ass even played the base game. theres the lava caves, cerulean bay, belurat, that vertical area east of lavacaves full of plants and shiet. the entire south that i hevent even finished yet. Theres like 20-30 hours of shit to do that rewards you with skadu shards and the ones that buff your ashes BEFORE you even fight Rellana. Its like DS1 in its level of interconnectivity
>cool encounter
the curseblade in the Belurat spiral staircase was pushing my low END shit in before i realized you can use REJECTION to yeet it out of the air and over the balcony
Im tired of being killed in one hit. Its hard to get good when you dont have any wiggle room for making a few mistakes
I played through the entire base game with the DLC patch and just started the DLC. Last I played was a few months following launch.
WHAT DID THEY DO? Every boss just fell over. Bosses stagger like twice as often and are way less agressive now. Status and ash summons are still just as strong. And I feel like I have even more iframes. The worst part? I restricted my weapon upgrade to the highest bell bearing I could buy. Which was +4 somber for most of it until post Margot. Then it was +6. I could have a max level somber weapon rn.
Did they really nerf the base game that much? I thought they nerfed most of the cheese? I just leveled vigor and barely touched other stats just to meet requirments. Bleed, rot, and mimic is still nuts on amy enemy they affect. The rest you can just stagger lock now.
Youre playing with summons and youre surprised theres no challenge?
Nothing with enemies was changed in the base game with the DLC. The Radahn nerf & un-nerf was in the first month iirc, the only thing that's really been kept notably easier is duo AI. You're just good, and using summons.
this game will be dick rode by weebs here all summer
Found lion much easier tha rellana.
the clearest sign that this dlc is dogshit is that no one is doing coop. there is not a single summon sign to be seen anywhere in the dlc areas.
That seems bizarre. Really? Coop is dead in the dlc?
Because the people who day 1 and preorder Elden Ring DLC are typically the type of people who would actually want to experience it firsthand solo first dumbass.
I get summoned the second I put my sign down.
I literally get five seconds summons even with hilariously overlevelled character, 130-150 range must be instant
That is dead wrong homosexual. I almost always get summoned instantly
You forgot you have to use furlcalling remedy, didn't you?
ive gotten summoned instantly like 100 times over the past couple days moron
The frick are you talking about? I’m at 160 and get summoned immediately
At rl150 I almost instantly get summoned but for some reason almost never see summoning signs.
It's because more people are desperate to get help than they are to help others.
This right here is my biggest gripe with ER. There's no mechanic to incentivize pve like there was in prior games. On top of that, spirit ashes and the fact that they don't tune up boss health mean there is incentive not to do co op. Kinda sucks when that used to be such a fun part of souls games.
Sun bros... I don't think I like elden tree.
Try using the item that shows summon signs you dolt. I've been getting summoned non stop wherever I drop.
I've been getting instant summons everywhere but the big evil sunflower. Not sure if no one has really found it, or I'm just underlevelled for the place (120).
somethings fricked with summons there
if you use a remedy you'll probably just see no signs ever
Thats not true, im seeing coop signs even in dungeon caves. Stop lying you c**t
I beat Lion with level 1 scadutree blessing in 15 minutes and Rellana with level 3 scadutree blessing in like 25. no summons/spirit ashes/cheese shit. RL 140
people just fricking suck. only Messmer took me more than 1 hour.
You think 15 minutes of buttpoking a boss is fun? I've got just the right guy for you my man.
Lion's pretty fun if you try to dps him down during lightning, there's a few tight windows you can get him with.
Messmer's second phase is making me want to fricking off myself.
Its probably the hardest fight in the dlc, nothing else really comes close. Just keep persevering and try to learn his big attack, he's very vulnerable to roll spam, you can roll toward him for almost every attack and keep uptime. Even your light melee attacks will let you riposte him if you keep good uptime
Finger Print shield trivializes the entire game
Also, FRICK that fricking Black person the Putrescent knight, holy fricking cancer boss
>Shit ton of damage
>Runs rings around you
>Holds all his attacks and then combos you when you try to dodge
>Fricking AOE that spawns BEHIND you
Number 1 ranking on my cancer list at the moment, at least Messmer is a main boss and not some optional BS.
in terms of least fun bullshit bosses. Putrescent Knight and Gaius are competing for rank 1.
Scadutree Avatar is the #1 shitter boss in the dlc though, its incredibly easy but incredibly boring and repetitive.
Gaius was trash because they made Torrent mostly shit against him despite it being intended as a mount battle
using the physick that enhances dodge rolls has really turned a majority of these bosses from unfun bullshit into actual fun fights
Knight is based, here's how to make him more fun:
>Get your Scuddy up to 12, i beat it with 14 and it was overkill
>His Orphan double hand potato masher always comes down twice, literally FREE opening
>The AOE THAT SPAWNS BEHIND YOU has a 30 minute tell, he does nothing else until it ends, and has probably the most forgiving jump hitbox in the game. Just unlock your camera, turn around, and sprint jump into it
>If you roll his boomerang throw and sprint into the boss, he'll often try to follow up with a sweep (won't always do it, but if he follows up this is his only follow up) which you can jump R2
>The horse tag team super combo has 100% learnable roll timings and is not nearly as clusterfricky as you think, just try resetting the boss over and over to learn it because he usually does it as his first attack
Unlike Rallana he's not a gross orgy of input reading and combo extension, you can actually learn his moves. The only moves I think are 100% bullshit are 1. the horse scream and horse stomp, because they have identical tells but one demands INSTANT roll and the other is made to punish instant roll and 2. The instant single ghostflame line, bullshit move, just a scam move to get free damage on the player
>12 scadutree
He was the second remembrance boss i fought, my scadutree was like 4. This fricker was cancer, it took me like 50 mins.
I've beaten him, think I was Scuda level 8? Anyway yeah, shit was fricked. 0/10 for me on thta boss, cancer fight and not particularly memorable other than difficulty.
that's cool and all but the problem is he 2 shots me and I have 65 vig, I probably spent more time running back to the arena than fighting that fricking piece of shit.
there's almost 0 margin for error, frick up once and it's back to bonfire with you, learning his tells and patterns is a fricking chore.
He's actually one of the easiest bosses what the frick do you mean?
His attack pattern is so simple. He comes at you, then the horse comes at you, then he comes at you, then the horse and then he gives you AMPLE time to hit him while he gets back on the horse.
If you fight him near a wall he won't run away as much.
Easiest fricking boss, dude.
Petruscent Knight is one of the few Elden Ring bosses that I fully enjoyed tbh. The flow/rhythm is intuitive, you have plenty of time to heal between combat exchanges, his combos are short and simple, and hitboxes for the fire attacks and club attacks are lenient. Dodging the tag team rush is intimidating at first, but it's actually straightforward and provides you with a two hit punish with the greatsword. Very satisfying boss imo.
Of course, part of this is contingent on being powered up with scadutree fragments (I was around level 11-12), but I gotta rep this guy. It's a great boss
>just went into a fight with dryleaf dane
>he was invisible and killed my ass because I couldn't read him
I laughed but that wasted some of my precious buff materials
In terms of FROM DLCs where are we ranking it so far?
1. The Old Hunters
<POWER GAP>
2. Shadow of the Erdtree
3. Ringed city
4. Ashes
rest
>3. Ringed city
No idea why people rank this so high I thought it was awful. Ashes and all the Ds2 ones were better.
gael story and flashy and fun fight. And midir even though midir was a piece of shit to fight. Everything else was pretty forgettable. The ringed knights did have a cool design though
1. Shadow of the Erdtree
----Gap----
2. The Old Hunters
3. The Ringed City
----Gap----
4. Artorias of the Abyss
5. Brume Tower
----Gap----
6. Frozen Eleum Loyce
7. Ashes of Andariel
8. Shulva Sanctum City
It feels stupid to compare SotE to any of the other DLC's. It's a full blown expansion, not a 4-5 hour at best DLC. It's almost a new game.
>SOET above The Old Hunters
Wew lad
Well it's gold quality but also very very short. There's the entrance with nightmare yahrnam, the clinic, the fisherman village and that's IT.
and it costs about as much as a new game
except it's not
The cost is irrelevant in the long run
Only the content
And the content is superior to The Old Hunters
I's got so much content they could have made it a standalone game. While playing I constantly got the bizarre sensation of "soft sequel"
Have you even played BB and toh? Toh wasn't as big, but it was great, and it fixed the biggest complaint people had with the base game, which sote didn't at all do for me.
1. Old Hunters
2. Aota
<GAP>
3. TRC
<GAP>
4. Sote
Never played DS2, but I heard the DLC is the only thing worthwhile.
I was voicing my hatred for the DLC in every thread I could recently but re-exploring the earlier areas made me realize my character just wasn't strong enough to start it when I did. I want to try it again with a fresh mindset but the closest save I can do so with is only Level 76 in the mountains so I guess I'm better off sticking with my current save.
Yeah, the DLC isn't overtuned, homies just be going in here undetuned and not realizing that it has a Sekiro style system to boost damage and keep it interesting without massively over-levelling you and making base game trivial.
Oh people are realizing very well what the mechanic is. We're just calling out like it is: bullshit that doesen't belong in souls. There's nothing difficult about scavenger hunting for collectibles until an artificial wall is lifted. It's just not something anyone wants to do.
That would be relevent if ER was a souls game, it's already fundamentally different from DS and BB because you can jump, mount, open world, summon spirits etc.
I don't mind them taking ideas that have worked in previous games and adapting it.
I only protest taking shitty ideas and implementing them poorly, because like I said, nobody likes that. A hard boss should be hard because it's got interesting mechanics, not because devs just gave it gorillion health.
>Uhm...ER isn't a souls game
are you morons still on this bullshit? 95% the same game and you try to excuse its flaws by saying it cannot be compared to DS3? Why, dumbfrick? Is it because you know that in comparison to DS3 this game is amateur and shitty?
Nice deflection, troony. You haven't even played Sekiro and are pointing at it to justify this awful mechanic in ER
btw prior souls games didn't butcher the tuning to make you explore, and they never demanded you spend over half the playtime doing a full circuit around the map to find fragments
Don't bother responding. I already know you'll suddenly find the system as shitty as I do when you replay SOTE in the future and realize that if you want to play without ashes you have to do the mandatory 20 hour exploration sidequest
Ay yo this homie seething rn because his autism pattern of going straight to the next boss with no deviations has been broken
>"deviation" consists of doing every single drip of content in the DLC sans the final zone before doing any bosses
lol
you'll agree with me in time. The only way you won't is if you always just ashes cheese the bosses, but at that point your opinion on ER doesn't matter because you're barely playing it.
that boss is so based
by the way his giga nuke is easy to dodge, it doesn't actually fill the whole room. as soon as he starts charging just sprint away and jump last second
>Sekiro style
never post again Black person, sekiro's was based on boss completion, not turning around when you find a fogwall to hunt for more fragments for 20 straight hours. have a nice day
The boss is awful with buffs that low. Much more fun when you don't need to chug 2 estus for every 1 hit you take. I recommend trying it again on a future run with cheat engine to give you a more reasonable amount of fragments without doing the easter egg hunt for two dozen hours
the only bosses that remain awful even with scuds were rellana and gaius
>Being this upset about doing exploration in an game from a studio that has always rewarded thorough investigation
Remembrance boss ratings so far:
Lion: 7/10
Rellana: 7/10
Putrescent: 4/10
Scadutree Avatar: 2/10
Messmer: 10/10
Gaius: 3/10
Mother of Fingers: 5/10
not a remembrance but the big frick off dragon: 5/10
Still gotta fight the big plant and the final boss.
midrabros... we've been forgotten..
Oh, I didnt fight him yet, cool. Hopefully he's fun. Forgot he was a remembrance boss.
>exploration is top notch
stopped reading there.
Radahn is fricking moronic
This is like Goku ultra instinct vs Yamcha
Is skibidi 12 enough to beat that shitty Black person midra? I almost had him
Recently played ds 1 and I was struck by how slowly and deliberately the player drinks estus.
And the same feeling arose in this add-on. Enemies and especially so accelerated that now even seemingly super-fast drinking can turned into animation from ds 1.
Instead of a calm and thorough exploration, the whole series has descended into some rhythm game about rolling and clicking to timing.
> the whole series has descended into some rhythm game about rolling and clicking to timing.
They gave us Sekiro tier bosses without Sekiro combat.
Yep, that's exactly right. Dark Souls 1 was more about knowing what to do, not necessarily about having excellent timing or reflexes. Elden Ring is a reflex game unless you use the easy mode options.
So the game is better then because it is more about skills and preparation?
It's better because it plays to its strengths
>more ancient dragons
>more deathbirds
>furnace giant spam
>hyper agro bosses that punish you for being close and far
every boss has been a genuinely a fricking miserable experience whether they are easy or hard.
at least it looks good i guess, too bad the framerate is constantly tanking for no discernible reason
It's not just the bosses either. I haven't had a single combat encounter in the dlc that wasn't infuriating. Then I go back to the main game to dick around on a different character and holy shit it's fun again and the framerate isn't a piece of shit! Wow!
I'm currently on dancing lion. He's hard, but not beyond being beaten. It took me a few tries to understand the bread and butter of his first phase, which is crucial to his second.
Dancing Lion is essentially punishable after a telegraphed grab attack (I call it lion chomp) and after his 2 twirl, head slam + breath combo.
It's his second phase that has a learning curb, as he has the same move set but with different elemental buffs. Lighting creates the problem of fast spear launches and "random" lightning strikes, but eating a pickled liver or getting in a lightning barrier on really helps with this phase. Beyond that, he still does his basic attacks.
Frost adds hoar stomp frost to his attacks and gives him one new stomp attack. Dodging into the clear space to the right is the learning curb on this one, as is keeping distance from old "vulrnable points" because the frost crystals. Honestly it's his hardest buff.
Third is the Wind buff, basically just an enhanced version of phase 1. He does an easily telegraphed Tornado. And his "Leap forward, bite, then jump back and do a sweep kick" combo is granted a Godrick style wind blast.
Overall, pretty fun fight, but I've not quite mastered the frost storm phase which usually fricks me up.
The phrase is "learning curve".
I beat the dancing lion by applying as much pressure as possible in phase 1, so that when his phase transition triggers he's already down to 2/5ths of his HP. At that point just play very defensively.
>Ice Jump
>Wind Keep distance
>Thunder is your time to go on the offensive
The death rite bird boss is literally not possible at any scud fragment level.
>Massive multi proc AoEs, flies around so you cannot reposition, ADDS with HOMING RANGEDF ATTACKS and a massive frickoff AoE that instant kills you
what the frick from????
I struggled with that homosexual but Holy Damage really fricks deathbirds. Just an ash of war with some holy damage and you'll rock tweety's shit
Put Sacred Blade ash of war on
They die in like 5 hits
Last rites from golden epitaph, in left hand while two handing, then swap to miquellan knight sword in right hand, use sacred blade, power stance the two swords, death birds are dead in five seconds. You could even use the faith and holy booster physick. I’m doing 5k damage to the birds in the field with one scared blade beam at level 160
this dlc shits itself so hard in the final 30%. All the new zones are completely fricking empty
don't worry bro the reviewers never get that far just like in DS1 :^)
>get to big fingers area
>all you do is ring a bell for an item
>zero dungeon
so disappointed.
Also the end of the main questline is unfathomably lazy. A gank fight against NPC's immediately followed by a rehashed boss (I don't care if it's a new moveset, the final boss being somebody you've fought before is disappointing)
Gank fight is awesome and a lot of choices and consequences.
>Count Ymirtalks about a little boy around the church
>find a gravestone for a child named Yuri in the graveyard
>find nothing doing circles around the church
okay what did I miss? I only did one ruin bell, is it for later?
Continue the questline
is it feasible to stagger with dex weapons? I'm using the backhand blades and I never stagger bosses with jump attacks.
The godskin peeler and Milady are stagger MACHINES with the L2 move. Absolutely murder those black knight homosexuals as it pierces shields too
They patched the game so jump attacks literally never stagger, you have to charge heavies now
Big weapons really only stagger nowadays.
How should you stat your toon if you use a dex weapon with bleed affinity added to it? Go all in on dex? I'm only level 151, so I can't do something stupid like 99 dex and 80 arcane.
Arc to the minimum requirement for your weapon and then focus on dex. Arc is a bit of a meme state and doesn't make a massive difference when bosses have HP pools in the gorillions
In this particular case it's the backhand blade I added bleed affinity too because it felt like it would fit their quick attacks, together with the art of war allowing you to stay on the offensive. It doesn't have arcane requirements.
Rellana is in a similar boat to Margit/Goddrick - technically you can get to the area past them without beating them, but the path seems to be intentionally obscured. She is meant to be the first boss
Arc is good... If you infuse a weapon with inherent bleed to occult. Which is what I did in the main game and now that I'm trying to change to a new weapon it is utterly terrible
dancing lion is like margit
rellana is like godrick
>Spinning blade + bleed
Thank me later
My biggest gripe is that not only you have to dodge the attack of bosses, but also their AOE that STAYS for a while on floor.
yeah the random lightning strikes on the ground are complete bullshit
None of you sound like you’re having fun with this game. It’s either b***hing about it or people who probably spent 5 hours dying to one boss gloating about how easy it is. I hope the next game is even more casualized
Is that Mogh in the shadow keep?
>never played ds2
opinion discarded
>goes to a dead end (for now) so there's no point beating him unless you want a spell
when you finally get to enter that area, you get teleported inside anyway, so i'm not even sure if he's a required boss
>dragon babe fricks off after you kill bayle
i won... but at what cost?
There's a furnace golem that's not taking any damage wtf?
if you're at red flower area, you need to throw flamepots into his torch. I just looked it up but never killed him myself.
>fire beats the fire guy
how the frick am I supposed to figure this out? they literally are fire.
Just beast Messmer and i expected more?
I thought i needed this dude's flame to open the tower behind the dancing lion, but they gave me nothing or any cinematic about the world changing.
Found the note from Leta directing me to the ruins of Ruah (which i opened earlier just exploring) but should i have gotten anything else from Messmer?
Favorite boss so far btw by a country mile.
anybody? was the world supposed to change or anything?
do i just move on or did i miss something in the keep
You use the flame to burn a tree which will unlock way forward towards the end of the game. Tree is in area to the left of Messmer's castle and the road there leads through castle as well, to put it vaguely. Also if you manage to reach the church district of the messmer's castle, you'll get access to two other remembrance bosses through there.
>you'll get access to two other remembrance bosses through there.
three*
>I suspect that both Dancing Lion and Rellana are not suppose to be encountered until much later
The grace from Dancing Lion is the first one with guidance which points straight past Rellana who is blocking the lift that opens up the rest of the DLC. Yes, you can go around her with a bit of digging, but you can skip the first two legacy dungeons in the base game as well. These are definitely the first two major bosses you're supposed to kill.
the boss fights are abysmal, the optional bosses are abysmal (im looking at you, not-orphan and big fingers boss)
genuinely worse than DS2 DLC for bosses.
Just spent 12 hours trying to get a character to DLC. About to fight Mohg and don’t even feel like continuing. Burnt out on it, these games are so tedious and it doesn’t even matter that I’ve beaten it before, can’t remember where things are and trying to find a smithing stone or whatever can derail into hours. All in all I think I’m 120 hours into this character hope the DLC is worth it. I’ve been chasing that first feeling of Elden Ring exploration.
apologize RIGHT FRICKING NOW
They bastardized the lore in Elden Ring with SOTE
The final boss has broken be bros. I unironically don't think I can beat him without cheese...
>Secret area hidden by finding a random emote in the wilderness in an already secret area, and then performing it at a random statue with absolutely no hints
>Sick I wonder what's behind here
>a fricking tree sentinel
>then ANOTHER fricking tree sentinel not ten feet behind it
>then a fallingstar beast
>finally reach the end and my reward is: a shitty talisman
Hinterland feels like a practical joke at my expense.
>get to giant finger field
>it's just a bell
>no dungeon
>ring the bell and get a talisman
at least that quest leads to a hidden fun boss
>absolutely no hints
This shit infuriated me. Because there is something that looks like a hint, one of those message-placard things, but it's not a hint, it's more like a description what's behind the statue.
I swear, it makes me want to go through the entirety of the game and simply rate how "gettable" these types of "secrets" are. It's the same with NPC quest shit. Ansbach runs off with no warning and you find him reading quietly in the first floor of the storeroom. None of this is new though, the base game has loads of this shit.
There is a hint, but the problem is that hint is also hidden in the middle of bumfrick nowhere
ASSETS FROM MY LAST SOFTWARE
How is the exploration good? It's mostly an empty map with reskinned enemies sprinkled throughout without any rhyme or reason, and thus far, all the legacy dungeons I have played through are nowhere near as big as Stormveil or Leyndell, nor do they have all the bells and whistles. They are more akin to the smaller dungeons like Castle Morne and Redmane. Game is beautiful though, art direction wise. I will give it that.
The scardtree and boss difficulty is covering up the biggest issue with the DLC nobody is talking about.
The absolutely fricking pathetic weapon selection.
>NEW WEAPON CLASS
>1-3 weapons total each
>NEW WEAPONS FOR EVERY TYPE
>Most of them got 1 (one) (uno) weapon
>NEW SORCERIES AND INCANTATIONS
>all of them fricking useless
>NEW ASHES OF WAR
>Most of them are still trash, and most new weapons have an innate AoW anyway so you can't swap
Lazy japs got away with doing no work at all and people are lapping it up
Absurd how dogshit all the new spells are, and of course any art of war that takes more than 1 second to come out is quite literally useless against anything you couldn't kill with one r1 anyway.
>find a bunch of new weapons
>they're all split damage hybrid class horseshit
I thought they added over a hundred weapons? I killed Messmer and still haven’t found any interesting physical weapons besides martial arts and milady. Everything else is fai/int/arc
Are backhand blades better as pure dex or with bleed in your opinion?
weebs will jump on any dick and dick ride
Why the frick does Blackgaol knight have like zero turn rate? He spins around like fricking Sonic
DLC deserves its 60% positive rating on Steam. Its not god awful, but it almost feels like a doubling down on all the worst aspects of Elden Ring.
Is there a way to progress past Ensis Castle without fighting the boss?
Yes
Keep going left when you reach the castle and you'll find new areas and Spiritsprings that boost you past Ensis Castle
Any triggers that permanently alter the state of the game world that I should be aware of?
Getting too close to Shadow Keep (in Scadu Altus, after Rellana) will trigger all NPC questlines to progress, potentially skipping stages. That's the only one I've found so far.
I triggered it. I hope I didn't miss much.
>after Rellana
I keep hearing about this person, but haven't come across them yet. So far have seen the Lion and the one that appears at the Shadow Keep. Feels like I skipped a major area. It's been fun exploring at least.
>have 19/20 blessings
>can't find the last 2 i need
>don't feel like looking at a guide and going to each location
ehh, im stuck on boyrape final boss, will 1 more blessing really make a difference?
>fall 10 miles, dont die
>fall 20 feet, die
makes sense.
Abyss was a cool area, and Midra was a great boss. Though I have two questions.
1. Can you actually not kill those eyeball guys? Do you have to avoid them?
2. Can you get to the south of the manor after beating Midra? I feel like I'm missing a door somewhere.
>Eyeball guys
Parry them frickers and they can be hit.
I'm tired of hunting for scatfrags, these empty fields just aren't very fun to explore. When I can very easily bypass enemies with my horse I do just that. Making Souls open world was a mistake
Bayle was fun and not too hard, but I did summon Igon. It was kino as hell to summon him in, but next time I will probably try to solo him.
I like most the bosses so far, but the furnace golems can go frick themselves. Its either just tossing pots in them or slowly knocking them down over and over. They don't even fight back they just take forever.
I feel like he didn't even do much, just spammed his bow for not very much damage and in return you get absolute kino, basically Ahab cosplay. The voice actor for Igon was amazing and made the already cool dragon fight even better.
What's the highest Scadutree level? I'm struggling to tell if bosses are just tanky or if I'm way underlevel for Midra and Bayle. I don't mind so much for Midra because he's fun anyway but Bayle is so shit that I'm definitely not doing him underlevelled.
20 scatfrags is all the toilet can hold
As in you go up to level 20 or there are 20 fragments?
level 20
Found the abyssal forest and Midra. First time ive felt legitimately spooked in a souls game, this entire area is dripping with atmosphere and gripping in terms of focused gameplay. Culminates in a brisk dungeon at the end with a good boss. Its something outside the norm and it might be the peak of the dlc so far for me.
Let me guess though, the majority of the normie audience hates it because they cant bonk anything with a pulse?
No clue but I thought it was kino. The boss was fun as hell too.
5
>scadutree avatar
wow id honestly rather fight mesmer again this is so fricking aids and it isnt even fun, frick this homosexual
Mother of Fingers might be the worst boss in souls history
Really? I haven't fought Messmer yet, but the Avatar was the most honest boss I've fought all DLC so far.
It actually had openings and it didn't layer 50 attacks on top of you at all times. The gimmick of getting his next health down on a downed attack was neat too.
I'm stuck on the stupid hippo, gotten it to 15% a few times but I figure I just need a break.
Its funny how Ganker complains about how exploring in this game sucks despite having some of the collest locations and dungeons in an open world game
but they will say the boring empty plains of dragons dogma with 0 good loot to find, boring ass dungeons, boring locations, MMO tier quests and the same 4 enemies for the entire 20 hour game is considered peak open world kino
its obvious Ganker has a seething hatred for fromsoft games
Swallow of The Turdtree would've benefited greatly from a living city like Grand Soren, I'll understand what Fromsoft were thinking with not including some towns and cities
fromsoft is not capable of creating a world that is not dead and insane, it would be too much work for them
There's no problem with the exploring.
You're a moronic homosexual.
just like Radahn and Miquella
Dragons Dogma 2 is kino. It is a living breathing world that feels dynamic and alive. There is civilization to find relaxation and respite in as well as the harsh wilds and cave systems and dungeons to explore. There is a sense that this world could truly exist in another place and reality. Meanwhile you enter Fromsoft… and it’s all “he le heckin dung rot Black person shit ! Le heckin rotting Black person dung rot decrepit shit amirite? Here’s a smattering of mobs and boss bloat… isn’t this epic to explore??”
Boring.
>and it’s all “he le heckin dung rot Black person shit ! Le heckin rotting Black person dung rot decrepit shit amirite?
scatfrag bros we've been called out!
>muh isekai
Heck off Souls is about challenges and end of civilization.
WHY IS EVERY SINGLE NON PHYS THING I FIND EITHER FAITH OR HYBRID?!
I have not found a single int ash, weapon or spell. I have found a thousand faith things though.
I just killed Mesmer and his shit is faith based. It's fricking edgy lava, it should be int/faith hybrid leaning more towards int, like Rykard's spell.
Even the fricking CARIA boss' weapon is hybrid instead of full INT.
Are there any INT weapons that are at least almost as good as the Darkmoon GS? I don't want to spend the entire DLC with a weapon I already used a lot in the base game.
I'm at my limit INT bros. I'm considering changing my build to a faith one, so I can at least use spells that are not "different sizes of blue projectiles".
elemental ashes still scale on physical stat if your weapon scales primarily on physical stat moron-kun. Sounds like a skill issue to me.
Also the caria twin sword is just a dex/int weapon. You're supposed to treat it like night and flame where you put dex for phys and int for the projectile and ignore the fire ash part of it
I didn't beat any bosses yet and just started exploring organically no tp no torrent I ended up in the bonny village then the cathedral then the dark castle then crossed a bridge to the indiana jones ruins, was stuck there so I had to go back to the plains, was pretty neat actually, only had to tp once
Reminder that the DLC isn't canon.
There are two areas (Raur Ruins and the Jagged Peak) that are amazing locales but absolutely worthless for exploring, because there is nothing to actually fricking find there. No dungeons, no anything, just mediocre boss fights. Bayle is at least cool
I found out why people b***h so much about the bosses while trying to help some idiots beat Messmer.
>They double summon every time, giving all the bosses like 4x the HP
>They don't study the attack patterns before wasting their 2 summons time trying to kill the boss
>They have like 20 VIG and get one shotted while spamming roll on every combo
>They can't block or roll for shit but they bring their nothing personnel katana build and get caught mid combo every time
It's just embarassing to look at. But the worst part is the double summon. I could clutch the fight for them but with another summon I just run out of heals before the boss is close to dying.
>Hug the Lion when he does the spinning breath attack and most of the breath wont hit you.
>However right before the attack is done one of the projectiles seemingly goes in the opposite direction to nail you every time.
Anyone else notice this?
>Go to Enir at +12
>use dual great spears
>every enemy no sells my attacks
yup, time to respec with 80 vig and dual great stars lol
I didn't even get to the dlc but I made a video on the shadow of the torturer and for some reason now that DLC for ER released, I'm getting more views for some reason.
beast claws are fun as frick. anyone been using them in pvp? havent finished the dlc yet so i havent gone to the colosseum/online
No, because pvp is even more garbage than it was before
anyone knows who to reach this place?
it's the only thing I'm missing in the shadow keep
I recall reading somewhere that you can access the upper, upper portions via the church district.
>exploration is top notch
stopped reading right there
kys shill
I use mimic tear +10 on every fight. I have mine to make, a wife to sex, weights to lift and hobbies to pursue. I’ve easily cleared most of the content while my puritan friends with nothing going on in their lives spend hours slamming their head into a wall for the false sense of manufactured pride and artificial accomplishment that comes with beating Fromslop combo spammer #1846. I always make sure to placate them of course. “Damn bro… how are you so good at this game? Your skills are amazing… I couldn’t do that heh, I just have to cope with my summon.” And in return they don’t sperg out on me with incel rage when they see me actually winning in the real world. It’s a clever little system From has built and I thank them for catering both to functional adults such as myself as well as children and no life losers who only have the illusion of feeling like they’re doing something with their lives to comfort them.
>Cerulean Coast
>beautiful area
>fricking NOTHING there except a recycled dragon and demi-human queen
Also if I find another Greater Potentate Cookbook (Infinity) I'm killing Miyazaki.
that entire area was very odd, I must've spent an hour just looking around and not fighting anything besides the demi queen. (not fighting that dragon frick that)
NOTHING
There's a mausoleum where you can get the dancer set and the gaping hole that leads to the the dicky juice dispenser.
Fricking St Trina and a remembrance boss are there
another spastic big boss that delays his attacks and runs around like a 10kg twink, ty miyazaki
Messmer and Midra were fun, even though they had too many delayed garbage atleast there was some flow to their patterns
commander gaygayoil and everything else is just boring slop, i dont CARE FOR BIG ENEMIES RUNNING AROUND LIKE SONIC ON COCAINE BACKHOPPING
>use backhand blade when messmer does one of his many epic delayed spear moves
>fricking Black person does a 480 on the spot in 4 frames to land it anyways
i wish death upon every single person involved in the creation of this garbage
what's a good dlc boss for rune arcs?
>had 400+ rune arcs on my ng+9 character going into the dlc
>down to 230 now
stopped using them now, theyre useless in the dlc
So Marika's big betrayal was trying to save her shaman village from being stuffed into people-jars?
This was a betrayal of what exactly?
The great betrayal was betraying the Gloam-eyed Queen and killing her to create her Golden Order.
Personally what is the point of build variety when nothing is actually fun to use
Bayle is kicking my dick in
Please halp
Every single boss with 20-hit anime combos will face the pest threads cheese, simple as that.
so every single boss in the dlc?
Yeah except the tree sentinels
Dancing lion wasn’t even that hard
>70% damage mitigation
>it doesnt actually mitigate anything
>leveling the skadootree shit in every area
>still die in 2 hits to basically every enemy
really makes you think
I respecced to wear armor that weighs like 8 billion pounds and looks cool and provides a lot of mitigation but it literally doesnt matter. Its release dark souls 2 all over again lol
tried that too and it gives you an extra hit sometimes but who cares when you need to perfectly dodge another 20 hit combo before the boss gives you two seconds to heal
>Ganker is warming up to Erdtree
It's joever for Shazamtroons.
it's just that most people have been busy playing it instead of here
I was fighting messmer and getting completely raped, then I remembered there was a sekiro parry flask buff and holy shit the fight became actually fun, I'm willing to bet that buff fixes every other bullshit boss in the game too. Why the FRICK wasn't that a talisman or better yet, a default mechanic? Next time I play this game I'm just modding that shit in as a constant buff because it's way more fun.
how high does the erdtree blessing go
lvl 20
dumb question but its my first time playing elden ring and I can two hand a sword but not one hand it. Does it matter when im on the horse because its showing the sword in red? Seems tedious to remember to two hand it ever time before I mount
- moronic scaling system - Skibidi Fragments, there are 50 (too many) of them, sometimes in bulk of 2 and 3 (but very rarely), some can be found under distinct statues but they are not located in immediately distinguishable places over half of the time. This leads to moronic situations where some pushover Black person fodder npc with a jar on his head in the middle of some side ruins has an important progression item - too easily missable. Exploring will yield enough to contend with the final boss, albeit you will not be at your full damage potential. Not a massive issue until you reach:
- Final boss - I am convinced it is the hardest, most tedious, most broken, most overtuned fight Fromsoft has ever created. Took me 3 hours of nonstop attempts with Backhand Blades, melee only, Skibidi Level 18. You cannot fricking see anything. You cannot intuitively dodge half of his phase two moveset and just hope that you did the right thing to avoid damage. AoE blasts after every attack that stagger you into sword combos. 2 shots and 3 shots everywhere, bloated health. He even has attacks that target you, the player, personally! Such as the AoE pillar which drops your FPS to a lovely 28 so you can enjoy a cinematic experience. And the shitty low effort lore. It has it all. Worst DLC finale of all time. At least it wasn't too easy.
- Enemy design - spin 2 win infinite combo philosophy is present everywhere, notable offenders include enemies such as Curseblades, those Horned Knights and Bird Knights, Fire Knights in the Shadow Keep, the list goes on. Spinny 8 hit combo guys are just not fun to fight in my honest opinion. You get used to them at some point but I feel like a wheelchair veteran racing Olympic runners when comparing my mobility to theirs.
Besides these points and few performance issues around waterfalls and particle effects, it was a very fun ride. Great weapons, great dungeons, mostly hard but fun boss fights. It's just topped off by a pile of the steamiest shit ever.
Okay I can't fricking do Sennesax I've done Fortisaxx RL1 naked with a club and I can't do this butthole on my level 150 character I've tried a couple weapons and damage is ass. Is Scadu level 8 considered low for this area?
Use the dragonslayer great katana and spam the weapon art to the head. Went in with the katana fully upgraded and scadu 10 and made quick work of the dragons.
Dude, use the horse.
sennesax just drops an ancient dragon smithing stone just run past unless you need it
I don't even know where to post this, so here it is. DId I frick up by not summoning him? He says he couldn't fullfil his vengeance
No he'll still invade you in Church of the Bud, his quest is at the endpoint
Obviously you fricking moron.
This Black person is everything bad about this fricking DLC in a single package
>Never stops attacking
>Every attack is a 10 chain long multi-hit or a giant AOE
>Summons multiple adds non-stop
>Adds have giant AOEs too
>Can teleport away so you can't punish him
this guy was pretty easy compared to the other bosses, still a fricking shit boss that feels like thee average invasion.
just nonstop ranged spam while youre getting ganked by constant adds, you rike?
this guy with the billion ads is secretly the hardest boss unless you afk for 10 minutes before starting every attempt
That was the only frustrating fight for me so far..
Giant dragon attacking a bunch of the black knight dudes and great archers... get within 300m and they ignore the giant frickin dragon pushing their shit in and all chase the player, then dragon can't drops out of the sky onto one of those ficks and one shots if you're within view distance.
It also takes like 15 mins for the dragon to actually kill a decent number of them.
I like it but the quests are way too convoluted with tons of missable items, I hate reading the wiki.
How do you beat Radahn's second phase?
That AoE is fricking me up terribly whereas I can avoid his attacks in the first phase.
how do i get over here? i figured beating the scadutree avatar wouldve unlocked a path but nothing
Church area has another way up to the secret side of the specimen room. You'll be climbing ladders and at the end you'll find a statue you can gesture too.
so which fricking marika statue is it?
before gayus
i had completely forgotten about that one so i was backtracking way more than i shouldve, thanks
get a gesture at Bonny Village and use it at a Statue of Marika at the room by the Shadow Keep's Back Gate grace.
It's real fricking obscure.
You need the "O'Mother" emote. Use in front of the headless statue in the building where you fought the pig riding boss.
>adds weapon catalyst into the game
>spell scaling is so shit it's unusable
>fixed aow
INT got shafted so hard in the dlc
>literally just riding my horse around, minding my business
>loud magical sound plays
>huh
>somewhere, a great ruin has broken
>HUH?
>And with it, a powerful charm
>HUHHHHH???????
Great, I love it when NPC quest lines advance without my consent. Really genius that they tied it to just riding your horse around, and not like, I dunno, to a boss being killed. Fricking morons.
it advanced because you reached the shadow keep
NTA, but I had this happen when i was in Cerulean Coast. I had just rested at a Grace a little beyond the Ghostflame Dragon and suddenly it happened. I didn't know what the frick it meant.
I never even got close to the Shadow Keep.
>Have a +25 flame art milady with flame spear
>Have a +25 cold partizan with ice spear
>Have a +25 sacred claymore with sacred blade
>Have a +25 lightning infused black knight twinblade with crucible wings.
Who else here prepared? I switch up my weapons and talismans depending on the situation and haven't had any issue with the dlc so far. Most difficult boss was the second dancing lion because Fromsoft thought it was a good idea to just have basilisks spawn out od thin air to shit up the arena with death blight.
Who's the most fun new spirit ash? For base game I've enjoyed Engvall and Devious Doodoo Devourer.
Wing Stance is kino
Blind Spot too but it's locked to a single weapon
As far as fast weapons go, Blind Spot. No competition in my eyes. It is an offensive dodge that puts you behind the enemy and counter thrusts at the same time. Unexpectedly solid damage with Shard of Alexander. Having it as an option into the final boss made soloing it only take 3 hours instead of 3 days, the sidestep can outrange the light AoEs. I don't really play heavy weapons often so I can't speak for them.
Whoops, my bad, confused spirit ashes and ashes of war. Point still stands though, shit is insane.
Nevermind sennesaxx is easy I think they must've made this guy super tanky to make you use the specific dragon slaying sword because it destroyed him even with suboptimal stats for the weapon whereas the weapons for my builds stats only tickled him.
How do you get to the church area in the shadow keep, I got a key for it ages ago but I beat messmer and haven't seen heads nor tails of it
Separate entrance near manus metyr
Faith chads we finally have a strong lightning spear and it's fricking awesome. Made Metyr a cake walk too. Thee fully charged lighting spears is enough to stagger and get a crit in
any good faith weapon in the dlc? havent' found anything good yet
i feel like every faith weapon is outclassed by just slapping flame art/sacred on a weapon aside maybe blasphemous blade. that being said this bad boy with flame skewer is probably my favorite thing
aren't many late game bosses fire resistant in the dlc?
yeah lol but its still fun with sacred. i just really like it cause it has the same moveset as godslayers but with changeable arts and poking R2
Mesmmer is my favorite boss so far and im done almost all the DLC. He has clear attack patterns, you have a window to attack him at the end of every pattern. Its just a classic elden ring boss.
Least favorite is Gaius, frick that guy and his mount. That fight was zero fun for me I summoned a mimic and use bleed to kill him as fast as possible.
Radahn would at least okay if they got rid of all the moronic tiny light beams after every single attack.
Did you summon Torrent for Gaius?
>bashed my head into the wall for an hour and finally beat Messmer
>realize the enemies, dungeons, loot, and open world have been mostly lackluster
>realize all of the bosses have been excessively frustrating, not fun to fight, or both
>look up stuff coming later on and none of it looks impressive
>lore shit is lame, too
>realize I’m not even enjoying myself and the DLC feels more like a duty
Thinking I might take my $40 loss and just flush this mediocre ass Zanzibart DLC.
Git gud.
..at another game that isn’t shit.
It’s weird how every criticism about the dlc, especially the moronic final boss is being boiled down to as “morons find the dlc too hard el m a o” by fromsoft gays
I arrived at messmer but I haven't explored 70% of the map. should I go back and explore or can I do that after without consequence?
if you're struggling against messmer then go back and explore for more skibidi fragments
the DLC doesn't have any other worthwhile loot so exploring is more about "wow look at the cool setpiece"
I'm the opposite, I explored about 80% of the map and I can't even find Messmer.
hes in that big black building (BBB) right in the middle of the map
I figured but I went through shadow keep once, then through the church and only recently got rid of the water. I know there's at least one part I didn't explore because i got side tracked but i guess it has to be there
The same lesson from the base game applies here. Rolling away from bosses gets you killed instantly.
All these bosses become completely different once you roll into them and stay attached
>people just get too hyper focused on the bosses
Yeah, what the frick is up with that and how did it start? Most people I know just run past everything, sprint through dungeons, miss items, don't engage enemies, etc. It's like why even bother playing?
They should play a boss rush game like Cuphead or Furi if they just want bosses.
Spoiler for the last boss in case someone has been spared but they give out a unique gesture if you get badtouched twice
>boss turns you gay
that's gay as hell
Did Radahn get groomed? Last guy you would have expected.
>join our age of compassion tarnished-kun
It was rushed.
My god Commander Cadius is harder than Messmer, what the frick is this bullshit.
scarlet rot works pretty well against him
>I suspect that both Dancing Lion and Rellana are not suppose to be encountered until much later
Black person theyre literally the first and second boss what are you talking about
I encountered the lion within like an hour
RESKINS FROM THE BASEGAME AND DARK SOULS 3
RIDING THROUGH A FIELD
POORLY TRANSLATED LORE
there i saved you $50
>RESKINS FROM THE BASEGAME AND DARK SOULS 3
kek I wish there were more dark souls 3 reskins I at least enjoyed the bosses in dark souls 3
>that’s the reason I buy it, poorgay incoming
got consort radahn down to 1 hit and died, gave up and used mimic tear. I just want a fight that doesnt lower my average fps to 40 and doesnt cause eye damage from the visual clutter
>Opens the world map up more
You can go around the castle to the back of her boss room before beating her
Tell me what the white serpent skin is for you damn autisys.
>Figured I was getting close to finishing exploration, and would get back to the main progression
>Find some shit I somehow missed in Gravesite Plain
>Explore a path I previously ignored
>Actually do shadow keep and the library instead of ignoring it
>Now I have no less than 7 different threads to pull on and explore
>Still haven't fought Messmer
jesus christ messmer phase 2 sucks so bad
>Decide to do jolly coop with randoms
>Invaded by some guy with dual bleed thrusting weapons #4000
>Endure through his pokes and punch a hole in his chest with new punch weapon for 1500 damage
>He crumples because the only strategy he can do to win has failed
>tries to lead us to enemies to help him but we just go through the boss door.
It's time for red man to be phased out of souls games. It stopped being fun and exciting after demon souls, when the sad tryhards seekng shallow validation decided to take over.
Game literally encourages that behavior on both sides. I agree with you, as someone who loves being the red man right now it is just simply pointless for both parties.
They dont wanna make a decent or fun system with them anymore, invaders are at full strength because they are invading people with phantoms, which is obnoxious if you do wanna tongue red men in for an invasion experience, and with how moron high the elden ring damage is you either have invaders killing 3 people at once or 3 phantoms gangbanging the invader. Its just terrible all around, doesnt really play into the lore, and is simply there for posterity in elden ring, but it also impacts the game in a negative way nerfing what would otherwise be harmless options in pve content
I always thought giving yourself a huge buff but making yourself open to invasions as a tradeoff was pretty neat design, wish they'd have stuck with that philosophy instead of turning invasions into dogpiles
You're right its just encouraged on all sides. You're more charitable to it than I was. The pointlessness of it all is just really frustrating to see in action.
I understand both sides of the argument. While Dark Souls 3 system was far from perfect, it was by far the most cohesive. DS1 favored the invader too much, Ds2 invasions didnt exist until way after the game was figured out. Ds3 has enough systems to kind of deter invaders without it feeling unfair, but also having enough tools and better level design for invaders to shine should they want to mess with a dude with 2 phantoms. Its far from perfect of course but there is a reason why so many people still play Dark Souls 3 after 8 years. These interactions are far more fun for people. The meta isnt amazing, but its "good enough"
Or you know… just parry
i've really enjoyed it, but Gaius is one of the worst bosses they've ever made
most of his attacks are fine but the dodge timing on that stupid charge he always opens with is complete and utter bullshit and makes the fight an automatic F
>exploration is top notch
yeah i love empty fields of nothing and finding leafs and smithing stone [3] everywhere
frick you
uhhhh
there are more larval tears in the dlc, r-right?
>down to 2
yes
Me when I use Palm Strike on another shitty boss
>The world design is the best, very beautiful areas.
Yet I fail to see why the combat system isn't updated. Why bother having cool and long chargeble weapon arts if I can't punish bosses with it? Make them give more posture damage and increase the FP usage by 200%
Make the bosses input reading less agressive.
Why I have heavy attack if I can't use it to punish when the enemy has a 6 hit combo and at the end of it he do something to hit you or dodge it
I think the game feel unfair because of those combat design. Also frick roll catches mid combo that I rant about
also
>no option to inscrease camera fov against big enemies
There's no fun in hitting feet and not seeing my enemy's face
Frick, Bayle design is so fricking cool but I don't remember his face
>Yet I fail to see why the combat system isn't updated.
Because it's a DLC, moron.
Imagine putting Orphan of Kos as a boss with Dark Souls 1 controls, that's my point homosexual
Except ER doesn't have DS1 controls. Every single boss can be defeated with no damage only using R2 of greatsword.
Charge your fricking weapon art without getting hit without any summons against Radahn and send me a clip.
Carian Sovereignty, for example.
They are just bloating the game with useless mechanics.
>noooo but you can trade damage with poiserinoo
And get fricked by Alien Magic Combo
>Charge your fricking weapon art without getting hit without any summons against Radahn and send me a clip.
?si=-Y2M4aHiksKNhMEh&t=925
>base game
kys poor gay
A week ago I booted elden ring to get ready for the DLC. At first I thought they’d change de animations (running, jumping mainly) to some shit tier animation for no good reason. Then I recaller, they’ve always been that bad. Been playing Dragon’s Dogma 2 a lot lately and how can anybody go back to Elden Ring after that game is beyong me. DD2 is leagues ahead in terms of gameplay and animations. Even the exploration is on par with ER considering ER only breathtaking zones are Limgrave, Lurnia and Leyndell and the rest is passable with tons of copy pasted content. The only big flaw of DD2 is being way too easy which is somewhat fixable with a mod. My only reason to come back to. From game is if the do a Sekiro like again (or AC7 if it builds up on good things from 6 but removes the moronic stagger).
I will use inboss room summons and my mimic tear in every boss and have fun rather than beat my dick with a hammer or scour the map for shitty skibidi fragments
>Putrescent Knight
>All of the messages leading up to it say something about healing
>using healing on it does nothing
Am I missing something?
I must me moronic because I don't know how to access the entire top right of the map, can anyone give me a hint?
Maybe try exploring the game instead of asking people on the Internet?
the room to the right of Gaius' fog gate
I don't even know who that is
noted ty
marika statue by the shadow keep back gate
its some really moronic crum bum esoteric shit
perform a random emote ina specific place
honestly I can't for the life of me find a clue as to how anybody figured it out
probably just a developer seeding it online
I won, and without using summons
What do I do now?
>bleed katana
yes yes you sure did beat it champ
>I-Is that a build that isn't complete dogshit?
>REEEEEEEEE
Cry me a river homosexual
You join the club of us proud few who outlasted the bullshit that is his second phase.
The absolute WORST part of the DLC is the exploration
They've made 1000 side paths and only 10% have anything in them, everywhere else is just "lol you wasted a minute getting here dumbass"
At least it looks pretty but goddamn
>Follow down a path
>Find purple item
>Cookbook
every fricking time
I'm fine with cookbooks
I'm NOT fine with gloveworts taking up 99% of the loot.
I honestly feel like something was lost in the priority switch from the broader base game development to the more focused dlc
It used to be that the world was really straightforward to explore, but there'd be shit like dungeons or other points of interest everywhere so your diligent exploration would be consistently rewarded
Now the world is designed like they took darkroot forest and stretched it out 10000 times in photoshop, and actual exploration is only occasionally rewarding, with builds focused on new shit being practically impossible to put together without doing the entire dlc first
There's an entire massive area where you are forced to walk on foot, and if you set aside an hour or two to comb the whole fricking thing for loot it turns out to have less items to find in it than any random fricking minor dungeon in limgrave
>but there'd be shit like dungeons or other points of interest everywhere so your diligent exploration would be consistently rewarded
moron, there is much more dungeons per km2 in the DLC than in the base game.
I'm not going to bother to check if that's true, but it takes way longer to get to them since the world is far more layered and winding
Putting aside the main progress stuff, you can explore for ten hours and see maybe one or two minor dungeons depending on where you're at
>but it takes way longer to get to them
No, base game had like 5 times more open empty space than the DLC.
I can walk 5 minutes in limgrave and trip over caves and catacombs and shit
Walking for 5 minutes in the dlc gets me lost and buffeted with field bosses or dogs or birds or committed to some long ass winding path to god knows where
>I can walk 5 minutes in limgrave and trip over caves and catacombs and shit
You can walk less time and see either a legacy dungeon or a cave in the DLC.
The opening area of limgrave has like 6 dungeons in the immediate vicinity
You have to really dig into gravesite plain's little offshoot paths to find anything other than the main legacy dungeons, the mausoleum, or the jar cave- and even most of those require a little bit of travel
Yes and Limgrave is only slightly smaller than the DLC area while DLC has a lot more caves
Then it's a good thing I wasn't talking about all of limgrave, just an area that's smaller than the first open field in gravesite plain
good bosses so far:
rellana
messmer
bayle
scadu tree avatar
ok bosses:
lion
bad bosses:
hippo
commander GAYus
I've fought all the main bosses except Radahn at this point. Midra, Romina, and the flower thing were really good. Gaius is irredeemable garbage
I will be summoning for Radahn because that just looks fricking tedious and not even remotely fun to learn. I'm generally fine with the anime shitshow bosses but that's way too much
How are people getting filtered by Gaius?
he's simply obnoxious
his first order of business is to kill you within 3 seconds of entering the fog
I just made him choke on scarlet rot and called it a day
I'm getting filtered by Bayle
he's weak to status effects
To be fair his charge is a really tight dodge and sometimes it can hit you for double or triple its usual damage. Really don't know why. He's fun otherwise.
his charge is absolute nonsense even with light roll
the timing is bizarre and the damage is also completely inconsistent for no reason. Sometimes it will hit for 25% of your health, other times it will hit for 80%
I got radahn down to his second phase, after seeing his bullshit teleport move I'm just not going to bother with this shit
oh also I really liked the silly finger boss, but that's a sidequest
malenia wages war across the entire continent and nukes caelid just to slay away the gay
truly the best girl
No. She did it at Miquella's request according to the final boss armor set. That whisper in the original trailer she did was her telling Radahn that Miquella awaited him
Watching people struggle vs Messmer makes me mad. All his attacks are intuitive and pretty easy to dodge in theory. I'm watching some dude just facetank the flurry of spear pokes mid combo as if you can't just walk and roll forward to avoid it completely.
Question regarding the final boss and npc questline. Do Ansbach and poison dude die no matter what or do they survive if you summon them? They proved to be more of a liability spiking up the boss hp so did it without summoning em. Then afterward their bodies were in the arena
apparently you need to summon certain NPCs to progress certain quests?
just the dragon dude I think
I've used Mimic Tear with my Dex build on every single boss that've been allowed to in this DLC and I do not feel a single iota of shame.
Are sharp gravel stones farmable?
So, are you supposed to poke the torchmen's fingers for half an hour or is there a cheese tactic for them?
Enir-ilim or whatever it's called from the first rise grace past the lion knight and caster enemies has officially made me just buy SMT V V. sup atlusbros? I can't take this shit anymore
Enir ilim is the worst designed area in series history. I hate on dark souls 2 a lot, but Enir ilim is as bland as a dark souls 3 area visually, as boring as a fricking hallway, and the enemy design is abysmal. It makes the run to Sir Alonne look like a fricking work of high art in comparison
It's fricking bullshit dude. I don't mind getting farmed by bosses for a while but repeatedly trying to get up this long staircase only to die at the last second as I kill the caster has killed all of my joy
I'll whip up some homosexual ass caster cheese shit to get by this part next time I play, but I'm gonna play some SMT for the rest of the night frick this shit. I have +17 blessings and still getting mogged.
The lion knights can one combo you no matter what your build is, so dont feel bad. Ive seen pepsi cans more durable than my character
I btfo the lion knight almost every time, which is already annoying enough. the last caster on the top of the stairs is the fricking bane of my existence man. I havent played anything ranged/casting in this game since release, this replay character is a meleegay so I dunno what I can even whip up that could even handle that lion knight
>tfw those bullshit elemental lion warriors
Go to Bonny village down from Moorth's Ruins
Explore until you find the O, Mother gesture
Go west until you're on the highway to Shadow Keep, explore the flooded area.
Eventually you'll find Gaius (on marker 1). The grace you rest before the fight has a room nearby - use the O Mother gesture there and go.
No matter how you might feel about the DLC, we all know Igon stole the show.
>CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURSE YOU BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYLE
>I HEREBY VOW! YOU WILL RUE THIS DAY!
>SOLID OF SCALE YOU MIGHT BE, FOUL DRAGON
>BUT I WILL RIDDLE WITH HOLES YOUR ROTTEN HIDE!
>WITH A HAIL OF HARPOOOOOOOOOOOONS
>WITH EVERY LAST DROP OF MY BEING
The VA was great going ham with it
Igon is based and surprisingly a good fighter but holy shit he literally stands there giving a speech for like 10 minutes before he joins the fight
summoning him is clearly the canonical thing to do
"you didn't beat the game" homosexuals will be forever in shambles about that. The fight is 10 times better with him screeching during it
Also accompanied by probably the best track in the DLC/base game
No, it's generic orchestra. Best track is either Lion or Radahn remix.
Fair, those are pretty good too. Music is better in the DLC in general
Also this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIJNkuHCXwk
Romina was so fricking kino. Actually perfect boss
I wish she could have had an intro cutscene
it's weird that she doesn't when she's required
FRICK YOUUUUUUUU BAYYYYLLLLL!!!!
>spend 2 hours on Senessax
>kill Bayle third try
That was awkward...
Multiplayer pve is the future, hopefully From realizes this.
code vein.
>Try to use Messmer's spear
>realize its garbage unless I use finger but hole shield
>respec to great stars +25 x2 with 50 str 60 vig 50 end. Have roughly 70% damage mitigation on the physical side with my skibidi tree buffs, armor, etc
>shits trivial but boring
>get to last boss
>he literally tazmanian devil spins up to me and 1 shots me through all of my health, buffs, etc
>leave message saying "why is it always dung?"
>close DLC
>0 intent on opening it again
kino
Finally a boss that's actually fun and exciting to fight and not just some gigantic fricking thing spazzing out all over the arena. I thought fromsoft forgot how to make those
You are going to LOVE Midra.
I can't believe we're at a point where we collectively miss the dudes-in-armor thing going on in dark souls 3
also, Bloodborne never had this problem. Its monstrosities were perfect to fight. The only one where the camera was even a problem was the giant Cthulhu ayy. Still the best game from this "series"
The dudes in armor in 3 had a variety of fighting styles where as a lot of the elden ring bosses, despite their visual variety, are very samey in how they fight
Where do people pull this shit out of their ass? No, none of the Elden RIng bosses really have "samey" attack patterns.
Radan is mostly dives and broad sweeps to account for the "Raid" fight. Morgott mixes his sweeps with different weapon projections. Godrick does flurry attacks you have to basically avoid and then punish him when his Godfrey impersonations.
>Where do people pull this shit out of their ass?
They dont? Elden Ring reuses almost every single significant boss fight there is.
>The elden lords are the only bosses that are in elden ring
What? Do you understand what "Elden Lord" means?
oops sorry I meant runebearers 🙂
I don't know what you're trying to get at.
>Bloodborne never had this problem
>The One Reborn
>Mergo's Wetnurse
>Replying to bait
>Every chalice dungeon boss
>Rom if you die once
>Wetnurse
>The piece of garbage reborn
>Laurence the first vicar in the DLC
The rest were great at least
>mfw people are saying she's harder than Malenia near me
I feel like I fought a completely different boss. She's very challenging sure but she did not absolutely kick my ass. Dodging her is incredibly satisfying
>She's very challenging
Yes, she is so challenging that she is more challenging than Malenia.
she just isn't. I was disappointed when I found out that she was the "malenia-tier" boss that miyazaki kept talking about
>when I found out that she was the "malenia-tier" boss that miyazaki kept talking about
That's speculation. We don't know who he was talking about. Also she is harder than Malenia
how is she harder than malenia? You dodge all of her normal attacks by dodging forward to the right or backwards, all she does in phase 2 is add a few followups to her combos. The moons aren't as big of a frick you gimmick as waterfowl at all
I truly don't get it. She took me maybe an hour
>how is she harder than malenia?
She has insane damage + Extremely fast attacks + extremely short window of attacking her.
Malenia has
1) Slow as shit attacks
2) Low damage
3) Low HP
4) Extremely low poise
5) Shit ton of opportunity to hit
I'm sorry, Maleniasister, but Rellana is CLEARLY harder. Do you understand?
4 / 5 of these apply to Rellana too
>low damage
She has unquestionably some of the highest damage in the game.
>low HP
She has the third highest hp of any boss in the base game after Fire Giant and Rykard (who's fought with a gimick weapon so his hp total is misleading).
She's maybe comparble to just phase 1 Malenia if you squint
In believe the problem is people can't read the Lion at all because it doesn't use weapons, it uses its mouth.
People b***h non stop about the "spazzing tree lizards" yet I never had a problem with them because I picked up on how it telegraphed and used its whole body as a hit box.
How do I get this item? I already climbed the back (shadowkeep spoilerino)
Keep ascending the keep and you'll eventually make it move, then you can grab.
There’s a level near the seventh (or maybe fourth) floor grace that rotates the pillar in the middle
>attack radahn in the back
>he turns on a dime and slaps my shit immediately
man frick this guy
This is what's been bothering me the most. There is literally only a few points at all where it feels like I can even get a light attack in, and when he's in his second phase, literally nothing feels viable in regards to scoring any hit without it being a trade, and that's without his arena-wide superattacks he keeps throwing out.
>If ancient dragon was such a kino fight why didnt they make an ancient dragon 2
>heh heh... got you covered bro...
You can at least use a mount here unlike with Shit Dragon
Killed Radahn with scarlet rot and mimic tear. Literally just run around the arena until he dies while the mimic applies infinite rot. And yes I did beat the game.
completely acceptable for the level of nonsense he does
Used a frickhuge shield and mimic tear, tanked all his hits. Frick that c**t
What do I get for getting summoned? Seems like a waste of my time? I done it 4 times now and no invaders
lol I killed one of those forager pests. It was awesome. It cowered before me as I ended its lame life, then some homosexual with a cum jar told me about it. Great troll Miyazaki get the rubber mallet my balls are ready.
>the death rite bird in the red area
holy mother of cancer
it is 100% okay to always cheese him with holy bullshit
same with the ghostflame dragon fricks
If you kill the first two mini birds from the bonfire you can lure him out and not have to fight any of the other mini birds
The only reason why the DLC got a 95 on metacritic is because it has gay people in it 🙂
the base game had gays in it too
He was confirmed to be mind controlled so he's straight now
is that what you tell yourself when you wake up with your ass hurting in the morning
And it got a 96
How do you reach the top of the library on the shadow keep?
Maybe try playing the game instead of asking for a walkthrough?
explore you homie
you need to descend the town pit thing next to the shadow keep, go through the cave. Travel up the roads and bridges until you get to the church, where a tunnel leading to a different section of the black keep is
so you reach that via the church area? I unlocked both entrances to the shadow keep.
How the frick am I supposed to allocate my stats for this thing
You should allocate it in STR, DEX, INT and FAI
>Shadow of the Erdtree will be the only DLC
>no Godwyn DLC, no Ranni DLC, no Tanith DLC
The base game IS the Ranni DLC
why would there need to by ranni or tanith dlc's
their stories are already closed. Godwyn tho is a shame
Tanith is a loose end
she tells you exactly what she's doing after you kill Rykard (and then obviously you get the choice of killing her)
There’s a shed snake skin outside of Bonny village that nobody has any idea what it does. I think it’s a teaser since they always stick one in.
Miyazaki said this DLC is the only one for the game. A teaser would be pointless.
I don't think he's talking about another er dlc.
Fromsoft has this little hobby of leaving clues as to what the next game is gonna be. Like Chester in DS when they were starting the first art studies for project beast aka Bloodborne.
And then in Bloodborne dlc there's a hunter who's a reference to wolf in Sekiro.
What's the most out of place DLC character?
Dryleaf. Next FROM game is gonna be cringe kung fu shit.
Sekiro 2 set in China
thats where Wolf was going
>you play as a construction worker trying to survive one day on a construction site
>final boss is an escalator that needs to be crossed to leave the place and go home
What if they get the rights to use Kung Fu Panda?
anything eastern in this game is out of place. The land of reeds only exists to have japanese weapons in the game and to have an excuse of make bleed weapons.
also the last dark souls 3 DLC has the gold/regal but grotesque thing elden ring has going on
Messmer has the whole snake thing going on so maybe it's related to him. That or Rykard since some of his machines are patrolling around outside that one keep
>tfw 40+ hours in
>furthest story boss ive done is mesmer
>the side shit just keeps on fricking going and going
>havent even touched cerulean coast, barely touched the very far/top right and top left of the map too
this is reminiscent of the base game where i constantly wondered when the frick it was gonna be over after beating morgott
>Consort Rhadhan item description confirma Melenia was in on it
First of that seems moronic, secondly i guess that makes sense since in the very original teaser Melania's mouth is moving after she stabs herself and Rhadhan looks confused
So Malenia killed radahn to send him to the gay sex dimension?
must've been too strong to fall for Miquella's roofies otherwise
its the exact same as ranni/godwyn. You can separate the body and soul, so Mogh and Rhadhan are killed with Rhadhan's soul getting placed in Mogh. Problem is that Melania doesn't get the job done and is put into a coma, while Mogh, probably over tempted by Miquella, steals him away from the haligtree and goes underground. With Rhadhan a rot zombie and Melenia driven mad with losing and is physically too rotted to see that miquella was taken, miquella just has been kinda fricked as a lordless spirit in the lands of shadow.
>found pic related
>visit him after killing Messmer cause his bodyguard appeared as an optional summon
>he is not in his chair
>touch chair and find secret passage
>i rush in thinking its a set of stairs like Friede's church
>i fall on a hole
>he is back on his chair and cant get him off
>i fall on a hole AND die *
he'll leave again later
try night
Tried morning, noon and nightfall, moved around the map, sat several times on the bonfire and did a main menu restart but nothing.
Just progress his quest then. I don't think you were supposed to miss him at first.
you gotta actually progress his quest to make him leave again
If I use Lion's Claw and the boss staggers, then it's a good boss.
If I use Lion's Claw and the boss doesn't stagger, then it's a bad boss.
Bringing back Radahn is dumb and cringe
It should have been Godwyn, THAT would have been kino and fricked up
>Bringing back Radahn is dumb and cringe
>It should have been Godwyn, THAT would have been kino and fricked up
Why not both, triple fake out final Boss in which Mogh bursts out of Radahn Isshin style
>Phase three
>Miquella powering up Rhadhan
>Mogh takes over and the formless mother infests Miquella
>final act is Blood God Mogh
How about bringing soldier of Godrick with the same lightning fast attacks Radahn is using? That would be funny. And play the theme of elden ring being performed with a kazoo.
>whole DLC is centered around death and shadws
>the deadest of the dead Godwyn left in the deepest, darkest part of the map doesn't even get a mention
It really is a crying shame. I wonder if they planned for it but changed it last minute since Radhan was more popular and known.
Found a Godwin giant deformed head at the end of a tomb. Other than that not much yet.
That's all you're getting.
>doesn't even get a mention
My death knight gear says otherwise
>check steam reviews
>50% of the positive ones are some variation of "dlc good, people mad cuz bad"
>check negative reviews
>carefully worded, well articulated criticism of various issues the poster has with the DLC bosses based on the posters experience in other FROM games
>check review comments
>git gud
>go play kirby
>maybe souls games aren't for you
>its a fromsoft game, it's supposed to be hard
I can understand seeing those kinds of low effort responses around here because I assume its just bait/shitposting, but on steam? and that fricking many? I didn't know this was a real behavior out in the wild. honestly I'm worried about what these people will latch onto once FROM stops making this style of game.
keep crying pussy
worded, well articulated criticism of various issues the poster has with the DLC bosses based on the posters experience in other FROM games
... in an alternate world. In reality all negative reviews are about optimisation or saying it's difficult.
Git gud.
>go look because of this post
>most of the negative reviews are chinese people
wat
Chinese gamers play gacha trash, mostly games in which you simply pay to progress/win with barely any struggling involved. And their whole philosophy of life revolves around cheating, taking advantage of others, they're truly the scum of the earth and it's so good to see them getting pummeled by the dlc.
surprising as fromsoft games reward "cheating" with cheese builds. you would think that the DLC that basically tells you from the start that collecting the scardutree fragments beats the game would actually be their favorite
nobody wants to do 15 hours of chores before being allowed to play the game normally
No for the chinks to like it you'd need to include an in-game store so they can just buy them.
Look how much this shit board is crying about having to explore, and note how there's always a gacha thread in the catalog.
Coincidence? I think not.
maybe its cause i keep a plethora of every single weapon type in the game on me but i have had no issues with any of the bosses. was shit like mesmer hard? absolutely but eventually i learned his attack patterns and kicked his shit in. i could imagine i would also hate the dlc bosses if i was some stubborn autist and refused to change up my build for specific encounters. people can complain about this all they want but the base game had this same exact issue at launch where str weapons were complete and utter dogshit after beating the capital, so much so that the only viable way to use them was to spam jump attacks.
why was the midra fight getting shitposted about so much before release, it's the best fight in the whole DLC by far
>mfw using Light of Miquella incantation with Miquella headpiece equipped in PvP
Shadowkeep first or Bayle? I'm trying to keep things challenging by hoarding my blessings until I hit a brick wall so I want to do stuff roughly in easiest to hardest order.
This is the most nonlinear thing by From. You can go anywhere the FRICK you want.
If you can take on Bayle then you should be able to shit on Messmer easy
bayle if you want a challenge
where is bayle?
There's a whole dragon area
There's a lunatic screaming about killing a dragon if you follow the path he's on it'll lead you there
where? I'm at messmer area
There's a right turn in the road that leads up to rellena's dungeon, take it and then at the fork go down the path with the screaming lunatic and dragon statues
is it some dude called igon?
yep
Messmer can be easily beaten by any properly built endgame character. Bayle is the real challenge as has Igon who is the best character in the entire DLC. playing blood and thunder by Mastodon while you fight Bayle is also required
?si=CkVHHM1tKpuX1iRi
Commander Gaius is pure cancer. So is Radahn, but at least that makes sense from a lore standpoint.
Thank god Metyr was a god-tier boss and questline. Literally redeemed the whole DLC for me. Bravo Miyazaki.
yeah I really enjoyed that fight
the boss weapon is fricking nuts too
where is metyr? you need to do a quest?
Metyr was too Bloodborny for me (literally Rom) and it had THAT "LUL I SATURATE THE ENTIRE FRICKING ARENA WITH AN AOE WHILE YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR ME TO FINISH SHIDDING AND FARDING XDDDD" kind of attack that always detracts a point from the boss for me
map being vertically stacked makes reading the flat ingame map annoying it should have been redrawn differently
I like that it forces you to explore and think a bit.
this is my main issue with the dlc
it's fricking irritating. And it doesn't help that they placed 2 of the map fragments in completely troll locations
>all the messages in front of that cliff barring the way to the map in the fog valley
LEL
I agree, I think they should have added "levels" to the map view
i found the map to be incredibly misleading several times
biggest time was the moment you finally get into that southern area of the map, and it immediately cuts over to show you the fragment that is in abyssal woods that you can't actually get to. But because it cuts over like that you think that's where the map is. Who the frick thought that was a good idea?
It's not until you go all the way to Cerulean Shore that you see that there's a different map there
Went back to base game to farm level 7 smith stone so I can finish upgrading and I forgot how repetitive it was. You have 20 of the same dragons patrolling caelid, 200 dogs, 80 crows, it's flat and boring... Thanks God the dlc is better.
Exploration in the DLC would be more interesting if the things I find were more interesting. Would've preferred the DLC to be linear if they were going to fumble the exploration this hard. No finding the scadutree fragments isn't interesting or fun, and loses its charm real fricking quick.
>implying finding cerulean coast, hidden grave, and finger temple weren't all cool moments
>find finger temple
>"damn this is cool i wonder what kind of boss is gonna be here"
>only thing there is a fricking fallingstar beast thing
maybe i missed something but what the frick. also whats with the shaman village? the music changes there but theres fricking nothing once again besides a spell and a shortcut leading back down to that one tower
there's also a talisman, but that's it
>Exploration in the DLC would be more interesting if the things I find were more interesting
Thankfully every cave in the DLC has multiple rewards including weapons, while base game only had one shitty ash.
Most of the shit you find in the DLC is mediocre or outright trash to actually use. The base game had this problem too, but its more annoying in the DLC because there's not much
>Most of the shit you find in the DLC is mediocre or outright trash to actually use.
Incorrect. The quality of rewards is like ten times higher in the DLC. 90% of caves in the base game didn't even have a reward while all caves in the DLC have multiple weapons, armor etc AND (!!!) they even lead to secret areas which is insane.
is it brown people making all these posts? i'm white therefore my inate curiosity is pushing to explore regardless of rewards, but this mindset or "where muh reward"is incomprehensible to me
If I wanted to just look at pretty locations, I wouldn't be playing a Fromsoft game, I'd just go hiking in the mountains instead.
>G-g-g-guys *sniff*, how do I get to [X]?
What happened to this board?
Legit should snip this entire DLC into 3 smaller 20% ones, with Miquella, Midra and Metyr being the final bosses of each.
>snip this entire DLC into 3 smaller 20% ones
you sound like a bandai corporate wienersucker you know that?
>le frenzy face boss just dies and nothing else happens
Black folk didn't bother to add cutscenes to a majority of the main bosses you expect them to put effort for that? kek
Theres not even a cutscene of how we got there
>oh cool I bet I can ride torrent now
>oh
>Oh I bet that this will open up a passage to the huge abyss landmass behind the manor!
>oh
>back actually opens up
>another mandatory stealth segment
>reward is a grave glovewort 6
I'd glad they didnt
the abyss was such a fricking disappointment. i was so hyped just to find...
>1 human enemy
>a stealth segment
>billions of frenzied rats
>3 skibidi fragments
radahn, promised consort of tedium
I think it's possible to skip Rellana through the alternate entrance to Fort of Reprimand from a spiritspring coming from near Elder's Hovel and thus access Scadu Altus.
you are correct she is optional
I can't reconcile my own brain. I like previous from soft games, I look at this one and see it's supposed to be an improvement. But I just was disappointed. First with the whole back third of the game, then with this dlc. I don't like pretty much any part of the visual theming. Few parts of the world were visually interesting to me. I can't say they weren't beautiful, cause it's hard to frick up a basic ass forest or a lake. Caelid was at least interesting, sadly that interesting was a dysentery swamp bigger than any before. I can't name a single boss I enjoyed fighting, most were either a nothing burger I checked off a list, a random dude turning into another dude, or an actual cancer fight. Enemy design could be interesting for some, the gravity bull comes to mind, but all in all, i can't remember one that jumped out and excited me. The biggest draw for me was equipment, always has been, and elden ring did a pretty decent job of options, even if respeccing was a pain in the ass, and the bell system for buying upgrade materials is absolutely garbage. I just don't have interest in even getting the dlc after watching a streamer doing a boss run again and again to this dancing lion boss, a design which is vaguely creative, but once again is a decision I can't even understand, aesthetic wise. The enemies he was running past looked like spammy spinning garbage, the area was whatever, and the lion himself did a bunch of crazy bullshit. The more I watched, the more I saw patterns of course, but it didn't change the fact that the patterns I saw sucked. No amounts of pretty swords has me interested in finding out one more sentence about miquella or mickela or mickeyla or whoever the frick they're talking about this time.
I set Romina on fire
>You enter a dungeon
>You go down the elevator
>You fight through it
>Then you find an elevator
>Then you fight through it again
>Then you find an elevator
>Then you fight through it again
>Then you find and elevator
>Then you find a boss
Maybe the first clue that your dungeon design is kinda shit is the fact that you had to put 3 fricking Marika stakes in it to make it bearable
I like how big they are, wish there was no Marika statues for the endurance test.
I like that they feel bigger that way, it just sucks if you realize you missed something and have to go back up a floor
does anyone find renalla fun to fight?
>short ass openings, can only get 1 attack off most if not all of the time
>blink one time and half of your health is gone
>long ass combos strings, barely get to engage in combat
It was fun for me, just use summons.
>noooOOOOO I'M TRUE GAMER MY GAMER CREED NOOOO
ok autist, suffer then
That korean youtuber that does no hit runs used the new hammer's guard counter and blind spot on a reverse weapon to beat her. Seems like you actually can't reliably no hit against her without using parrys or bloodhound/blind spot.
it wouldnt be so bad if she didnt have so much hp
Haven't had this much fun in a vidya fight in a while, reminds me of Lady Maria's.
Also using the Milady which makes it that much more like a proper duel
Can we please stop calling em skibidi fragments? This shit makes me laugh nonstop
>introduce the shadaloo tree
>somehow, M. Bison returned
it's like pottery
Just finished it too. The whole DLC is the most kino game Miyazaki has done
Every single NPC is fricking great too, they really went above and beyond to the point I actually want to summon them for main fights for the first time
>Curse you, Bayle! I hereby vow! You will rue this day! Behold, a true drake warrior!
>General Radahn. A please to see you, after all this time. But those remains do nkt belong to you. Lord Mohg will have his dignity
