Kek, there's a hacked event flag going around that causes this behavior. Apparently it can infect other players so he could have been some poor moron who got infected and now is stuck teleporting all phantoms to his location. You might want to check your own save to see if you got infected.

How viable is a split build of STR/DEX/FAITH? I’m fairly early in my first playthru, lvl 54. I currently have the golden halberd from the first knight sentinel, which I love on horseback. Has a great move set. However for boss fights I’ve been using Roger’s Rapier and the Frost Needle Rapier. I really only have the DEX and INT because I started as a prisoner but I did put some points in DEX. Now trying to get to 30 STR to be able to 1 hand halberd. I also have 20 FAITH and hope to put more points into it.
So would this be viable or should I reset my levels with egg thing I got from Academy and go either hard into DEX or STR?
having played through as just STR, then mostly int for damage, and now trying a str/faith, its really piss poor I think. Wait until you get high level before you respec into faith, and splitting into all those offensive stats just sucks because you still need vigor and endurance to not get 1 shot, and be able to wear armor.
no such thing as overlevel when the enemies get harder in new game+ and ng++. you can do anything you want and play however you want to advance your character and win. including summon. also I dont invade so who cares
also I didnt mention its fine if you just want to hit min requirements to wield something. but for me I ended up being annoyed having to farm my ass off later for more vigor

gravity stone fans and cold infusions are OP. there's also a cool str/int gravity lance in the dlc that you should use.

Do what I do: unlock all the maps/graces and give yourself all the items with CE then just hop from grace to grace with area-appropriate gear.

Just get to liurnia ASAP (dont even have to do stormveil, sneak around it) do white mask varre's questline to get the item that warps you to mohg's temple, and then backtrack to the 1st grace to farm the bloodshreks there up to lvl 100+
You could do it all tonight if you wanted
The hardest part will be doing the madness villiage in liurnia as part of the quest, but stick with it and you'll be fine.

Only reason to use daggers is as an offhand for criticals, or status buildup. Both are good reasons, but ER ends up pretty close to reality where the best general-use weapons are long & stabby, then swords are good backups, and everything else is pretty situational.
the humble broadsword has this thing where its hard to miss. sometimes dogs or those puddles of slime are really low to the ground, right? and when you try using some fancy weapon or a mace or a flail you end up swinging over their heads or retaliate and hit nothing but air. but the humble broadsword always hits whats infront of you, even if its not quite as far range as the slower bigger weapons.
You also have to account for attack speed. If you can get 4 hits and kill something in the time it takes you to do 1 big giga-swing, maybe the daggers ARE better.

Statuses aside, dual big ungabunga jump attack spam is your strongest melee option. Unsheathe and Giant's Hunt are strong contenders as far as ashes of war go.

You'll see people complain about magic then jump attack a boss with two UGS 20 times in a row.
my second character was dex + int. I mostly spammed glintstone sorceries and comet. had some fun getting the flask that lets you have infinite mana for a short bit and then using comet azur on bosses and mini bosses. used moonveil as a melee backup weapon. on rare occasions I'd use ambush shard to hit human-invader type enemies, and got enough int eventually later to use the full moon sorcery for some fights where they are weak against it.

Fact: you at level 150 and 2 others ~150 in co-op is equal to 450 in stat points. When OP or I beat our boss (and playing through all content to get there) without summoning, we did it with fewer stats used than you did, less attack rate, and fewer targets.

I leveled to 140 by end game and then got an additional 10 from helping people with Elden Beast/Maliketh/Malenia, since I thought 150 would be a good starting point for the DLC. PVP homosexuals in 150 usually boil down to people trying to bum rush the host or friendly invaders with torches.
It's actually much the opposite, where most genuine human beings end the game at 140 whereas the reddit PvP meta is 120.

Flame infused Nagakiba with Unsheathe + Pest Threads for big enemies
the lightning bolt you chuck is kinda mid, its good vs undead bats and rats. bestial sling you get from feeding deathroot to the guy is a short range shotgun blast but it comes out VERY fast and can do some decent damage
honestly i dont even know what faith weapons are good. i respecced to it after going through as int. and I just use the greatsword you get from the elden beast in NG+ and I use wave of gold to kill tons of weak albinaurics at mog's palace and farm fast.
I feel like the appeal of a holy weapon was way more in dark souls when you could more easily perma kill skeletons, but dealing with tapping their souls when they are down now is not a huge deal.
Coded Blade is pure faith and is very cool. it weighs like nothing too.
Honestly just play around. All of the Incants in this game are just pretty dang good. Play around which everything you get. You'll quickly be able to min-max based on how everything operates. Really the tiers of spells boils down to FP to damage which doesn't really consider situations. Like the giant's fire ball that is massive and blows up in a huge AOE has meh FP/DMG value but dat coverage and knockback is pretty goat'd.

Good range, good movesets, attacks get extra poise which in combination with thrust attacks makes them really good for trading.
They have massive poise damage and big AR values
The Treespear is available very early and is one of the few weapons with mixed type AR that can also be buffed. Throw Order's Blade on that shit and it destroys everything except things that are resistant to holy which is like 80% of everything in the game :^*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~)
Tree spear is my first playthrough weapon. I feel like no one ever uses that weapon.
A lot of people do. There was a glitch they patched a while back that let you put the buff on other weapons, including sombers, which was cool.
I'm hoping Messmer's spear is good. It's what I'm most excited for with the dlc by far.
Lance, Siluria’s, Tree, and Mohg’s are great. The other two are fine, Vyke’s ash is neat and spammed in PvP but it’s probably the worst of them overall.
Mogwhyn's Spear is literally one of the top 3 weapons you can get in the game.

Playing through for the first time. Got two characters right now, STR/FTH warrior that I finished Liurnia on and pure INT mage that's still behind on Stormviel. The sheer amount of magic shit I've gotten in Liurnia is strongly making me consider powering through it on my mage as fast as possible since there's no way I'm gonna get to the DLC on launch day.

Does Thorny Cracked Tear (the tear that increases damage on consecutive hits) work for when you're dual wielding? Like, when you attack with both weapons in one attack animation, and your first weapon hits, does it increase the damage of your second weapon when that hits in the same attack?

I remember spending a good chunk of the day as an int character fighting her, and I think in the end all I did was run away from her and cast Stars of Ruin for p1 and a good chunk of p2 after trying to meme beam her.
I wasn't intending to fight her again on future characters, but I kinda have too cause I accidentally got locked into the frenzied flame ending.

Gransax is sort of a one trick pony, the damage scaling gets pretty good when you get into the 70s with DEX though
It’s amazing now. They fixed the projectile’s tracking and greatswords got a big buff overall a while back. Without a doubt it’s the most powerful MLG since From’s older games where it was just the de facto best weapon. Bloodborne’s is still more fun though.

Int is great at 60+, before then you’re just gonna be spamming carian slicer. Once you get int to 80, then you’re a real wizard. Don’t even need the ground seal at that point though it 100% makes a lot of bosses just pushovers where you stay in the back of the arena or something and shoot Kamehameha waves at them. A lot of the niche spells are kinda… niche, yeah. Like the lava spells are fine but they’re mostly utility for int builds and if you wanna be a pyromancer, you’re better off going full faith since the giant’s flame and black flame stuff are amazing. Burn O Flame > Gelmir’s Fury all the way.

I'm going in on NG+ with an int grug character that only uses Royal Greatsword
multiple people have told me I'm a complete moron for doing NG+ and I really don't understand why. The scaling is only like 10% compared to NG
A lot of people do NG+ so go for it.
I personally don't bother because NG+ just doesn't add anything to the game. DaS2 is the only Souls game I've played that actually does interesting stuff with its NG+ cycles, but Bonfire Ascetic means you don't have to go into cycles to see it.
You can get duplicate weapons for dual wielding but that’s about it.

I don't know. I think people are vastly overestimating the initial jump in difficulty the DLC is going to have. I'd say even an NG+2 and +3 is fine.
Scaling for NG+2 and 3 and so on is small increments like +5% or +10% (it varies specifically for some reason)
But the INITIAL NG+ adds anywhere from x2-x5 modifiers to the entire game (aka +100%-+400%) depending on what part of the game the enemy is. The very first NG+ is the one that adds the biggest impact while any further ones add small increments, you can read this on any number of wikis
That said, anyone calling you a complete moron is a complete b***h, you can safely say if they didn't beat the DLC on at least NG+ then they didn't beat it
idk even if that is true I didn't notice it at all on the quick playthrough I did to set up. The only thing I noticed having a 2x buff was rune rewards for bosses. Malenia and Mohg felt almost identical to NG to me

Yes there is no grace at Redmane until the end. Which is why it is HIGHLY recommended that you only visit Redmane after beating Godrick+Rennala and the Radahn festival is active.

whips aren't great in ER but you can probably make it work
The one Patches gives you for completing his quest is pretty good
The best results I got with Whips came from combining them with ab offhand dagger.
The fast slashes compliment the slower whip movesets, after hitting someone with a whip you can often combo a dagger slash too.
Both STR Heavy with a Whip + Cinquedea and ARC with a Hoslow Whip + Reduvia worked well.
I think ARC is overall better against anything that doesn't resist Bleed.
Just do double hoslow's petal whips and go full Juno Hoslow
Mohg is harder the Malenia. Malenia telegraphs so much and has so many openings. Mohg phase 2 is pure chaos and fire fricking everywhere that staggers you out of your openings.
mohg is easier imo just because he can't improv string together combos like Malenia does in phase 2
the bloodflame spam in phase 2 is to frick over pussies that stay at mid range. His actual moveset is very simple

How is it that people manage to make compelling fashion looks with armor piece I've been staring at for 2 years and never managed to make look good.
Elden ring seems really shit for mixing armor sets.
so many have mismatched colors it fricking pisses me off
it's like in Nioh 2 where every set had a fricking different shade of red, at least in Elden Ring some colors here and there do match pretty well
- black hood is blue and not black and goes with nothing
- armor selection is bloated with zombie knight recolors
- can't alter to remove the weird as frick wigs/attached hair on helmets
- no everyman, low-key plate armor sets (like any of the souls game), every armor set needs to have some stylistic gimmick like scales or fingerprints
- female characters are built like fridges in most armor and robes
the dlc is my last hope to see something that's really bloodborne-level quality

I was level 143 when I beat the Elden Beast/game, people going into the DLC at level 250-300 seems like a massive overkill, granted I haven't played the game in over a year. I ran a DEX/INT build, or that's what I ended up shifting to towards the later part of the game.

The enemies are over-leveled vs. 150, and you must find Scadutree fragments in jars to give yourself buffs to kill them. It raises your attack power and defenses by 5%. The higher your base stats, the more stats the tree fragments give you.

Eleonoar's Poleblade is the most fun I've had in this game so far.
That character also has Bloodhound Claws with Endure which is the highest DPS in PVE, it's pretty busted. And also Regalia of Eochaid for bleed immune enemies. But I'm worried I won't get to try the new weapons.
ARC weapons are some of the most fun I've had in the game but I don't know if they're getting that many goodies
Have you tried the Bloody Helice? The I-frames let me style on enemies with that ash, it has incredible raw damage scaling with ARC too

Heavy Star Fists with Cragblade plus the Bloodflame Blade buff are the best fist weapons.
That or Bloodhound Claws, but they're the 'watch things explode' meta bleed weapon, so might not be up to your taste.

bloodflame blade is a weapon buff, cragblade is also a weapon buff. it doesn't make a distinction between spell/incantation/weapon art. one will just overwrite the other when you try to apply both

Bloodhound's Fang is the best early weapon, very easy to upgrade to +6 before fighting any bosses, which will let you 3 shot any boss before Leyndell.
But you'll need to settle for the weird 40/60 str/dex build, which will limit your other options.
