Original Sin 1 had a rock paper scissor game, where high persuasion lowered the amount of times you needed to win to "win" the persuasion check. It was both shit and good at the same time.

Here, from about 2:55 you can see a major issue. Look at the creatures and the way they move. What I see, having tinkered with Fallout 4 for a long time, is the same utterly broken movement and animations model that Fallout 4 had. You see that the creatures do not have fluent, lifelike movement; their legs move, but their movement is not in sync with their legs, and they seem to glide and hobble over the terrain, occasionally putting their legs ever so slightly above the ground.
What I'm expecting to see in Starfield based on that is the same thing we saw in Fallout 4 and Skyrim:

Have we not seen any swimming/diving yet? All their recent games have had underwater exploration, and in Starfield there are massive bodies of water on planets, of which we know can either be classed as safe or radioactive.
Am I overthinking why they haven't shown something so basic, or is there genuinely a possibility that they've cut water exploration and its unique flora/fauna? I don't remember seeing any skills that look related either.

Over a thousand planets, only a hundred of them have something to do on it, and of those 100 planets only about one to two procent will have something on it to do or see.
As always, mods will have to fix it, as with any bethesda game.
The toal amount of handcrafted content is more than any of their games so far. The barren planets will have resources where you can build your outposts to mine and defend them from attacks, if you wish. Or you can just ignore them and do missions and shit, its your choice
So just like fallout 4 where 1/3 of the map is pretty much empty and they expect it us to fill it up ourselfs with settlements.
Hated that part of fallout 4 and i will most likely hate it in starfield too.
You don't have to engage with it though, its optional side stuff. I don't know how important mining resources and outposts will be but there'll probably be plenty of other stuff you can do to make what you want

The map was full of content even in the outskirts since they had random encounters between the dungeons. If anything the map was a little too compact.

I don't mind a lot of the planets being barren, it kind of makes sense if you think about it. Also, just going to these barren planets and just fricking around for a bit every now and then might be pretty fun. I'll be happy as long as there are a handful of planets or locations where serious effort was put in. If they've got like 3 planets with enough care put into them, I'll be satisfied.
I am really curious how mods will work with these planets. I cannot imagine all the possibilities of having different mods for all these different planets to fill them up with life. Like a modder can take a random lifeless planet and put his own spin on it, fill it with all sorts of different shit. I'm glad Bethesda still fully support modders
I think the point of the barren worlds is they awil be very lucrative mining spots where youc an build outposts but also pirates may be there so it could be dangerous. SO I can see it being worthwhile flying around exploring as intended looknig for th planet with the right resources you need to set up a base.

Nah, you land and it loads that chunk of map like all their games work with cells. The random gen is it randomly deciding whether there is a pirate base or cave there or something. Me and you could both land in the same place in our games and see the same mountains and shit. There's no confirmation that I have been able to find as to the overall area of each world
It’s seeded so if you land on the same spot of the same planet you’ll see the same pirate cave too. Seeding is more of a thing done to save on memory in this case. Having the game try and generate the terrain for the cave real time without massive load times would be a technical marvel. Like Skyrim and FO4 there will definitely be predetermined points where random events will take place though
