Oculus Quest, tries to connect to facebook to fetch user data etc and just shows an error, can't launch applications, even to play your PCVR games.
But if you disconnect it from wifi it goes to offline mode and works. You can launch VirtualDesktop and then reconnect to PC to launch SteamVR games. But the in HMD interface will keep failing to load, or shows errors. You still can play games on Steam.
>have Oculus account from Rift >get a Quest 2 >have to merge my Oculus account with a fake Facebook account to download the drivers to hook up my Quest 2 to the PC
It should be illegal for a company to say you will not need a unrelated service's account to use a product and then make it that way. Especially a product you've already bought. Blatant lying. It's not that big of a deal to make a fake Facebook, sure, but it's the fricking principle. I left that shit platform for a good reason and now its crept it's way into something I strongly care about. Frick Facebook
they'll probably find a bullshit reason to kill all the CV1 headsets when the merge happens
>oh no our big must have update isn't compatible with old rifts guess we'll have to just discontinue them and you can finally start giving us your money and data again
The wildest it part to me is the constant conversations that people had about this very subject when the initial investment rumors and discussions began to emerge. Like, this is something that was a voiced concern by many... But bro, just watch the thread and see how many ignorant midwits have conveniently forgotten.
>Got an OG Rift 3 years ago for free >Quest 2 us tempting, but >Facebook required
I heard Valve might be making a rival to the Quest 2, so I'm holding out for that.
>$2k stolen
SteamVR works without steam, or without internet connection.
GET ZUCKED.
Also, disconnect it from wifi, and it should work
only for questbabbies
>without internet connection
really?
For real or are you joking?

So all it takes is a ragtag terrorist team with a personal vendetta on facebook and all quest buyers get cucked?
Seems like a design flaw.
Well, same goes to any game store.
They still can use Quest in offline mode.
It should automatically enter offline mode if frickerbergs servers piss themselves because pajeet pulled the wrong lever.
no shit sherlock

I heard something about Facebook being sued and told to split that shit up but who knows when or if that will happen.
The Checked it out. The store and app thumbnails won't load but I can access the programs fine.
>VR is not a mem-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
NO REFUNDS
Actually I can use it, just not any online functionality except for the built-in browser. Was wondering why it wasn't working just now. Thanks OP
How do I use my rift without Facebook? 1 year left before forceful merge.
get a headset from a company who hates their customers a little bit less
I bought rift eons ago, calm down moron.
they'll probably find a bullshit reason to kill all the CV1 headsets when the merge happens
>oh no our big must have update isn't compatible with old rifts guess we'll have to just discontinue them and you can finally start giving us your money and data again
block all the Oculus crap from your firewall so it never updates

>buying an oculus headset
>tacitly consenting to this crap
>directly financing facebook
