How do I actually deal with the ayylmaos? Am I supposed to enclose my entire factory in a giant wall and line it with turrets, or do I just put turrets up anywhere aliens are frequently attacking?
The former feels wrong because the game is all about leaving space for infinite expansion and I don't wanna hit walls as I expand
>put turrets up anywhere aliens are frequently attacking
this at the beginning
then explore and find choke points and build walls there
That makes sense, thanks anon
Yeah I kind of wish I started with them disabled, but there's also so much military content in the game that would have zero presence otherwise so I wanted to try it
https://wiki.factorio.com/Console#Enable.2FDisable_peaceful_mode
not sure if it disables cheevos tho
You really don't wish you had started with them disabled, taking away all of the urgency really makes the game stale
I don't know, the urgency is just frustrating. I just wanna zen out and build machines. Having to constantly run around building turrets and repairing shit takes a lot away for me
You only have to run around building turrets at the beginning. Once you automate your defenses with automated repairs and ammo delivery the defense becomes part of the zen.
If you want a middle ground you can also disable them migrating into your fart cloud so you only have to worry about already existing nests as you expand
The bugs are a bit stressful at first, but it calms down when you have walls and turrets in place.
Lots of people like to play peaceful, but as you noticed, you'll miss out.
Build away from the ayy lmaos
Or better yet, just disable them
If you abobawdely must play with them on then you literally need two bases, one larger main one and a smaller forward military base so you can completely exterminate them then take their land
yes the game is about automation. Automate everything you need for defenses and place lines of walls and turrets, then automate their repair. I generally use natural chokepoints and try to draw a straight line through it, then have a train station that delivers everything for the bots to use.
anyone else getting filtered by train signals? im trying to build an efficient train unloading station but i dont know what the frick i am doing
Just put them on the right side and everything magically works.
ive also heard chain (signal) in- rail (signal) out of intersections, but the ui is confusing me and im still trying to figure out a good design
Everytime two tracks cross, place on the right side of each track
-A blue signal before the crossing
-An rgb after all the crossings
Pic related, consider the path of the train that has to go from A to B
each time tracks split or cross you put a chain (in circle) before it's relative crossing (triangle)
once all the tracks are crossed you put a rail signal (square)
Don't bother with bi-directional single rails, make always 2 parallel tracks because otherwise you're getting bitten in the ass sooner or later
You'll learn the nuances with time, don't worry, everybody took some time to get used to it
what is there to understand? only one train can enter a railway section between two signals, a chain signal reads the next signal ahead and copies it
>metadoom
>no metafactorio
fine i'll try the demo
stop
why what's the worst that could happen
don't do it, factorio is a gateway drug to autism
