In the lore, marines that don't wear helmets usually have those circlets around their heads. They're called Iron Halos, and project a mini-force field around their heads. I'm not joking. The marine in the pic with the giant sword has one above his own helmet for extra protection.
Yeah, but nobody in the first game used those except Titus, and that was a late game upgrade. It's fairly common to see unhelmeted astartes with no halos.
Unlike SM1, there's a lot of gameplay footage where Titus has his helmet on. It's very likely a toggle for people who prefer it. At least I hope so anyway.

Actually they aren't, a Devastator for instance can't hop on a bike and be a Fast Attack Marine. The only chapter that fully trained their marines to do everything was the Alpha Legion and that was so their marines could fulfill any role needed of them.

The whole point of Tacticals is that they have filled every role. They started as a scout, learned heavy gunnery as a devastator, learned close quarters as an assault, and finally earn their place in a tactical squad that can do a bit of everything.

I read the first 3 Gaunts Ghosts books, and while I liked them I got tired of how it was just chaos over and over. And the chaos forces didn't even have deamons, just a bunch of corrupted normal humans. Haven't read any other 40k books
Well the gaunts ghosts series is entirely about guard vs chaos although some demons show up from time to time. If you want a series about the guard fighting against more varied factions ciaphas cain would be good to read.
I also read the trilogy. I found it to be quite enjoyable along with the ultramarines series. I heard that graham mcneil became pozzed though, is this true?
I wish they chose a better antagonist then Tyranids. Tyranids look cool but they're boring. I did see some Thousand Sons in one of the clips so maybe TS are the real BBEGs.

EC and Slaanesh are the impossible to properly represent in a game for the US market who are somehow prudes but also massive prostitutemongers.

Judging by Titus getup the first one took place several hundred years in the past so I highly doubt you'd need to even think about it from a story perspective, the first game is pretty fun though

The first game is solid, and it goes on -80% sales pretty often. It's definitely worth playing since its gameplay is unique and entertaining enough. It's not a masterpiece, you can tell there's many points that can be improved upon, which is one of the reasons I'm excited for SM2.

Apparently, they did exist in the first iteration of 40k, in 1987. Since it was just a table top game at this point and the audience were all male nerds who didn't want to play as women, nobody bought the femstodes and femstartes figures. GM decided they'd just make up a canon reason that females can't be marines and used that as an excuse for saving money by manufacturing less figure types.
I'm inclined to believe that so much lore has been built on that decision that it's not reversible at this point.

In the lore, marines that don't wear helmets usually have those circlets around their heads. They're called Iron Halos, and project a mini-force field around their heads. I'm not joking. The marine in the pic with the giant sword has one above his own helmet for extra protection.

Yeah, but nobody in the first game used those except Titus, and that was a late game upgrade. It's fairly common to see unhelmeted astartes with no halos.
Unlike SM1, there's a lot of gameplay footage where Titus has his helmet on. It's very likely a toggle for people who prefer it. At least I hope so anyway.

Actually they aren't, a Devastator for instance can't hop on a bike and be a Fast Attack Marine. The only chapter that fully trained their marines to do everything was the Alpha Legion and that was so their marines could fulfill any role needed of them.

Tactical marines are just basic infantry marines. Assault marines are fast attack/close quarters while devastators are long range/heavy weapon support
The whole point of Tacticals is that they have filled every role. They started as a scout, learned heavy gunnery as a devastator, learned close quarters as an assault, and finally earn their place in a tactical squad that can do a bit of everything.

Not counting chapter specific deviations like space wolves, where devestators and scouts are the final two, or BA where assault squads come before devestators.

I read the first 3 Gaunts Ghosts books, and while I liked them I got tired of how it was just chaos over and over. And the chaos forces didn't even have deamons, just a bunch of corrupted normal humans. Haven't read any other 40k books
Well the gaunts ghosts series is entirely about guard vs chaos although some demons show up from time to time. If you want a series about the guard fighting against more varied factions ciaphas cain would be good to read.
I also read the trilogy. I found it to be quite enjoyable along with the ultramarines series. I heard that graham mcneil became pozzed though, is this true?

It is the only other fleshed out Chaos Legion they can use other than Death Guard and Nurgle has been the default Chaos enemy for 85% of the last decade of games.

EC and Slaanesh are the impossible to properly represent in a game for the US market who are somehow prudes but also massive prostitutemongers.
Everything else is either too bland by being multi chaos like WB and BL, for non 40k fans or indistinguishable to normalgay sensitivities when compared to the Imperium and general public perception of them ala IW/NL. Alpha Legion is absolutely too complex for the average video game dev to use in any decent capacity.

Judging by Titus getup the first one took place several hundred years in the past so I highly doubt you'd need to even think about it from a story perspective, the first game is pretty fun though

The first game is solid, and it goes on -80% sales pretty often. It's definitely worth playing since its gameplay is unique and entertaining enough. It's not a masterpiece, you can tell there's many points that can be improved upon, which is one of the reasons I'm excited for SM2.

I just want to see the new "gameplay mechanics that we put in because he's a Primaris now AND he's a not-official commander". So far all I've seen is some Mass Effect 2-style commands for companions and you get a bolter+chainsword+shield combo instead of the hammer+shield or gun+sword combo from the first game

Apparently, they did exist in the first iteration of 40k, in 1987. Since it was just a table top game at this point and the audience were all male nerds who didn't want to play as women, nobody bought the femstodes and femstartes figures. GM decided they'd just make up a canon reason that females can't be marines and used that as an excuse for saving money by manufacturing less figure types.
I'm inclined to believe that so much lore has been built on that decision that it's not reversible at this point.

I hate when they do this, the older white men who created these setting had a more open liberal viewpoint so obviously they could see these other types of social orders existing but these younger 'woke' writers can't even tolerate such things in fiction so they end up writing out the entire original theme of the setting.
I can understand individual characters in the setting having more tolerant egaltarian viewpoints but when every character starts being written that way it just degrades the theme of the setting.
