One has nothing to do with the other though. The original designs of VII would look just as weird next to the Remake NPCs. The problem is that the style is no longer consistent and they used real-world stock clothing for all the NPCs instead of actually designing them to fit into the world. NPCs in the other sequel games didn't have this problem because Nomura took the time to make them match.
I mean they sort of did, considering there is quite literally fifteen hours of cutscenes. Then again, that's what "RPG" means to a lot of people I suppose. Sounds more like a VN with some mediocre combat slapped together on the side, especially considering the player has no real involvement in the cutscenes/story.
They did talk how the story will take 30-50 hours but if you get into the deep end of side content you can go to 100 hours. Which i think it is a balanced format that works like the og game.
I expect them to screw it up. No, really, as someone whos very excited for rebirth i really dont see that happening, because it is such an specific part of the setting that i doubt they do it

I hope one day Square contracts Itsuno to direct Dragon's Fantasy, and both companies work together and genuinely make a production that will define and inspire the medium through the century.

If XV was Versus it would have been a 15/10
Instead Tabata threw out all the good ideas and even completed work and delivered a half-mutilated corpse. Even the demos were better than the finished product.
XV needed one more city to explore. Tenebrae. And then some story cutscenes to explain the starscourge and feud Ifrit had with Soheim. Or the Ardyn DLC should have come with the game.
The worst part of the DLC was needing to exit to the main menu to play them instead of being organically woven into the game itself. What a trash fire.
I"ll be honest, at least XV's issues are being used to do a better product in Rebirth
It is clear how they are using the strong parts of XV, like party interactions, linked attacks and focus in your party activities, but also fixing the problems XV had.
And that's what a franchise should do, learn with past entries and enhance the newer ones. Throwing everything away is stupid.
As for me the game was ok, but i didnt bother finishing FF mode after i realized it wasnt neither hard enough neither different enough from normal.
It was basically the same as one playthrough. Crafting never took off at no point in the game and FF mode is just spamming the same strat you have over and over again, since the bosses dont change. Nothing changes. Its just another playthrough with higher stats from both sides.
I'll probably wait until the smaller revision is more available, I'm in the most expensive country on the continent, so price is going to be what it's going to be.

I feel the inverse, i think SE evolved graphically for sure since that gen but there's still some magic in visuals of things like AC that i cant explain.
