Eh I wouldn’t say that either. After all, she had actual brain damage from the bridge incident after her mum tragically died then subsequently, Sephiroth killed her dad. No wonder she’s all sorts of fricked in the head much like Cloud. They were never gonna work out as a couple.
Her having faults makes her interesting. Cloud and her both are people with issues. The tension between them and their own misperceptions about the past are significantly more interesting as a dynamic than her just being a big tittied moron in love with with nothing else going on. She's growing more assertive and there's a tie in even before Remake (I forget the name of it) where she acknowledges she can be an attention prostitute.
If those elements weren't there they wouldn't be interesting. They are both making some effort to work their problems out, them missteping along the way is the whole point of an arc. Neither tifa nor cloud are bad people and routinely put their lives on the line for others. Most of what they do is good, but the issues make them interesting, even if they can't be paired romantically. The way I see it the way forward for Tifa is to not get with him as a form of personal growth.

I would hesitate to describe any of them as horrible, she mostly does nothing but good things for people, and it makes more sense she and Cloud would be having this problem since they both have warped perceptions of the past. If anything that's how long term friends can be. We all know our friends' faults, but we still accept them. I don't think she ever does anything truly heinous, she's still very heroic and doing her best to help save the fricking world. She made her own friends after Cloud left, she helps take care of a kid that's not hers, she remains friends with her romantic rival when she can clearly tell things are growing between them and she never takes it out on her new BFF. She seems like a pretty brave decent person to me, but decent people can still have major flaws.
There hasn't really been a Wakka moment where she's trying to talk about fireworks when someone just watched their entire home explode. Her mistakes are smaller and make more sense. I can't hate her at all, I think she's a good character.

You can hate good characters. Though I do project Tifa's flaw into the real world. I see Tifa's all over place in reality, and they are woman that should be avoided at all costs. Its probably one of the reasons she is so popular.
The whole cloud half remembers zack thing is another gigantic plot hole that makes tifa look like a moron because now we have cloud conceding that tifa’s memory of the soldier and sephiroth is correct, which leaves a helmeted unnamed grunt, so when there is one person unaccounted for and one person who remembers intimate details, clearly that shinra grunt is cloud, yet tifa doesn’t connect it.
I think she just didn't want to press him. I also don't think she understands fully how much Sephiroth can manipulate him. From her perspective Cloud basically attacks her, and in Remake she explicitly states she's afraid of him after he threatens to kill Johnny, which was not Sephiroth talking, but Cloud 100%. So she has precedent that this guy she's known for a very long time can be unstable.

This is why the interlocked handholding feels more intimate than the kiss. They actually give the scene time to breathe and let the camera linger on it multiple times. Why they didnt do this on Tifas date is a mystery.

To be fair Aerith just has a lot less baggage in the arraignment than Tifa does. She wasn't there at Nibelheim and didn't have to see her parents murdered in front of her in an extremely confusing arrangement, Aerith has her own very serious issues but between the 3 of them she's the one that seems to know more of what is actually going on, and also has a clearer head about things. Tifa is growing substantially in her own way. It's not like she's trying to sabotage Cloud and Aerith, she's now close to both of them.

This is what the devs meant when they said there will be “equal screentime” between Aerith and Tifa kek. Based in this claim, Aeriths role will be equal to Tifa in Part 3. Additionally since they are blatantly copying moments from each pairing and just model swapping Aerith and Tifa, I expect more copied moments in Part 3. Aerith kiss (thats more intimate than Tifas) is imminent
The main issue is what universe of plain of existence the fight with Sephirot happened, since its the place where Cloud meets both Zack and Aerith? 3rd game will have them appear once more, probably even together. But how they'll interact Cloud depends on the answer of my question. But during the overall plot development, Cloud will be the only party member able to see Aerith like at the end of Rebirth, causing more confusion as Sephirot and Aerith blends in his mind (thats why Sephirot gives him that smug face when he retreats at the end, he will use Aerith to mindfrick Cloud even more). Im sure the rest of the party will end up fighting Cloud at some point. I was bummed with the Advent Children confirmation, but after actually reading the subtitles of the interview, its more vague, so I think its still up in the air. Still, we know Aerith and Zack are together in AC, lifestream is basically heaven so theres a happy ending for them, the whole "cant leave in the past, gotta move on" motto is about letting her go as she becomes a "goddess" in the lifestream, helping the party from the inside.
Also, who cares if Crisis Core already had the title, third part is being called Reunion. After that they'll put the 3 games in a single package simply called Remake.
Cloud's final fight with Sephiroth is physical, and occurs at the Edge of Creation. It's not a metaphor for his mental struggle, it actually happens. Evidence:
1) After the party defeats Jenova Lifeclinger, the rainbow effect engulfs them
2) When next we return to the party (right before they fight Bizarro Sephiroth), they're all talking about how Cloud has physically disappeared and are looking around for him
3) Cloud is physically present during Zack's "together as one" Synergy Ability
4) After they beat Sephiroth, Aerith asks him "Ready? Everyone's waiting." We next see him returned to the party.
It's possible that Bizarro Sephiroth was Cloud's last physical fight at the Edge of Creation and he just sat there afterwards being schizo until Aerith returned him, but there's no evidence for this. When Cloud goes schizo, the screen flashes with static and that never happens during the EoC fights. Conversely, the multiversal rainbow effect clearly appears when Aerith joins him.
Yes, the final fight is real, thats why Im saying Sephirot smugs, he will use Aerith for the mental games. The question about the physicality of Aerith and Zack has to do with, since we WILL play with both of them sooner or later, Cloud will need to reach the Edge (or some oniric world like in the date) to meet them. Maybe that happens till the end, maybe that will be the time where Cloud isnt in the party while the rest of the gang (with Cid and Vincent finally in) does the heavy lifting, and Cloud makes his heroic return in the end.
Been thinking about Loveless. The directors have repeatedly emphasized its importance to the plot. The parallels are clear on a rewatch, and may point to the conclusion of the series.
The end credits show Loveless with Aerith Rosa, which is consistent with Cait Sith's prediction in Act II. Then during Act III, Cloud Alphreid blocks the villain's ultimate attack against Aerith Rosa, she then summons Phoenix, the symbol of Rebirth. Clear parallel with the ToTA scene. "Proof that true love indeed conquers all, is it not?"
But the real meat is the parallel between the endings of Loveless and the game itself. Rosa asks Alphreid "must you go?" and Alphreid responds that "those he holds dear" are waiting for him. Rosa is distressed by this but wishes for his safety (parallel to Aerith's prayer this game); it's implicit that she cannot accompany him further.
I think this is the context of Aerith's "Sayonara" at endgame. She must either be in the Cetran place of power, or within the Lifestream, in order to properly direct Holy, and dislikes being separated from Cloud. Regardless of whether she lives or dies, her time with the party is at an end, so it's a sad farewell.
Returning to Loveless, Alphreid finishes by saying "you needn't promise to wait, because I know I will find you here" and we go into NPTK.
This blatantly foreshadows the canon final scene of FF7, where cloud "thinks he can meet with her... there." Maybe they'll change the line so that Cloud says "I know I can meet with her there" instead, but I doubt we're getting any other major changes. They will increase Aerith's role in Part III compared to canon just as they did for Tifa in Part II but the conclusion will remain broadly similar. I hope I'm wrong about this, as an ambiguous end like this would be extremely unsatisfying after three games of build up.

Right now I'm trying to figure out the context of Cloud's dialogue lines during the Jenova Lifeclinger fight. He tells himself "you've done this before," so Cloud at this point has some future memories. You can draw a line to his final words to Aerith before the fight in the JP dub, "wait for me" - something that future Cloud would more likely say. But he clearly isn't this coherent at the end of the game, being so oblivious to the rest of the party's sorrow. Did we get bait and switched with the Clouds at EoC? This is the one major plot element I can't reconcile.
If you reach the dog that means you already know how to beat his first phase? Just accumulate limit break and summon, once the dog appears keep focusing on Rufus and then unleash your shit so you hit both.
Once dog is out just hit them with triple slash or a magnified spell to break their tether. Then go crazy on Darkstar, and once he's dead Rufus will enrage and pressure and you should be able to finish him off easily

She is, but part of that is Aerith is frankly too preoccupied and burdened to let her own faults show up at the time the game goes on. She knows she's going to probably die soon. She probably has all sorts of little issues with her from her own baggage. Also it is what it is, Cloud lucked out. Tifa is no worse of a person than Cloud to me, so if she got her own new romance where she isn't tied to Cloud that would probably do her a world of good.
Legitimately wouldn't mind, and pairing them together would give Rufus a reason to still exist in the story more, and he was underutilized in the OG after disc 1.
The best end would be she grows as a person to such an extent she can now help someone else with their own issues in a healthy way and it kind of seems like they're doing that with her.

Her having faults makes her interesting. Cloud and her both are people with issues. The tension between them and their own misperceptions about the past are significantly more interesting as a dynamic than her just being a big tittied moron in love with with nothing else going on. She's growing more assertive and there's a tie in even before Remake (I forget the name of it) where she acknowledges she can be an attention prostitute.
If those elements weren't there they wouldn't be interesting. They are both making some effort to work their problems out, them missteping along the way is the whole point of an arc. Neither tifa nor cloud are bad people and routinely put their lives on the line for others. Most of what they do is good, but the issues make them interesting, even if they can't be paired romantically. The way I see it the way forward for Tifa is to not get with him as a form of personal growth.

I would hesitate to describe any of them as horrible, she mostly does nothing but good things for people, and it makes more sense she and Cloud would be having this problem since they both have warped perceptions of the past. If anything that's how long term friends can be. We all know our friends' faults, but we still accept them. I don't think she ever does anything truly heinous, she's still very heroic and doing her best to help save the fricking world. She seems like a pretty brave decent person to me, but decent people can still have major flaws.
There hasn't really been a Wakka moment where she's trying to talk about fireworks when someone just watched their entire home explode. Her mistakes are smaller and make more sense. I can't hate her at all, I think she's a good character.

I think she just didn't want to press him. I also don't think she understands fully how much Sephiroth can manipulate him. To be fair Aerith just has a lot less baggage in the arraignment than Tifa does. She wasn't there at Nibelheim and didn't have to see her parents murdered in front of her in an extremely confusing arrangement, Aerith has her own very serious issues but between the 3 of them she's the one that seems to know more of what is actually going on, and also has a clearer head about things. Tifa is growing substantially in her own way. It's not like she's trying to sabotage Cloud and Aerith, she's now close to both of them.

The main issue is what universe of plain of existence the fight with Sephirot happened, since its the place where Cloud meets both Zack and Aerith? 3rd game will have them appear once more, probably even together. But how they'll interact Cloud depends on the answer of my question. But during the overall plot development, Cloud will be the only party member able to see Aerith like at the end of Rebirth, causing more confusion as Sephirot and Aerith blends in his mind (thats why Sephirot gives him that smug face when he retreats at the end, he will use Aerith to mindfrick Cloud even more). Im sure the rest of the party will end up fighting Cloud at some point. I was bummed with the Advent Children confirmation, but after actually reading the subtitles of the interview, its more vague, so I think its still up in the air. Still, we know Aerith and Zack are together in AC, lifestream is basically heaven so theres a happy ending for them, the whole "cant leave in the past, gotta move on" motto is about letting her go as she becomes a "goddess" in the lifestream, helping the party from the inside.
Also, who cares if Crisis Core already had the title, third part is being called Reunion. After that they'll put the 3 games in a single package simply called Remake.
Cloud's final fight with Sephiroth is physical, and occurs at the Edge of Creation. It's not a metaphor for his mental struggle, it actually happens. Evidence:
1) After the party defeats Jenova Lifeclinger, the rainbow effect engulfs them
2) When next we return to the party (right before they fight Bizarro Sephiroth), they're all talking about how Cloud has physically disappeared and are looking around for him
3) Cloud is physically present during Zack's "together as one" Synergy Ability
4) After they beat Sephiroth, Aerith asks him "Ready? Everyone's waiting." We next see him returned to the party.
It's possible that Bizarro Sephiroth was Cloud's last physical fight at the Edge of Creation and he just sat there afterwards being schizo until Aerith returned him, but there's no evidence for this. When Cloud goes schizo, the screen flashes with static and that never happens during the EoC fights. Conversely, the multiversal rainbow effect clearly appears when Aerith joins him.
Yes, the final fight is real, thats why Im saying Sephirot smugs, he will use Aerith for the mental games. The question about the physicality of Aerith and Zack has to do with, since we WILL play with both of them sooner or later, Cloud will need to reach the Edge (or some oniric world like in the date) to meet them. Maybe that happens till the end, maybe that will be the time where Cloud isnt in the party while the rest of the gang (with Cid and Vincent finally in) does the heavy lifting, and Cloud makes his heroic return in the end.
Been thinking about Loveless. The directors have repeatedly emphasized its importance to the plot. The parallels are clear on a rewatch, and may point to the conclusion of the series.
The end credits show Loveless with Aerith Rosa, which is consistent with Cait Sith's prediction in Act II. Then during Act III, Cloud Alphreid blocks the villain's ultimate attack against Aerith Rosa, she then summons Phoenix, the symbol of Rebirth. Clear parallel with the ToTA scene. "Proof that true love indeed conquers all, is it not?"
But the real meat is the parallel between the endings of Loveless and the game itself. Rosa asks Alphreid "must you go?" and Alphreid responds that "those he holds dear" are waiting for him. Rosa is distressed by this but wishes for his safety (parallel to Aerith's prayer this game); it's implicit that she cannot accompany him further.
I think this is the context of Aerith's "Sayonara" at endgame. She must either be in the Cetran place of power, or within the Lifestream, in order to properly direct Holy, and dislikes being separated from Cloud. Regardless of whether she lives or dies, her time with the party is at an end, so it's a sad farewell.
Returning to Loveless, Alphreid finishes by saying "you needn't promise to wait, because I know I will find you here" and we go into NPTK.
This blatantly foreshadows the canon final scene of FF7, where cloud "thinks he can meet with her... there." Maybe they'll change the line so that Cloud says "I know I can meet with her there" instead, but I doubt we're getting any other major changes. They will increase Aerith's role in Part III compared to canon just as they did for Tifa in Part II but the conclusion will remain broadly similar. I hope I'm wrong about this, as an ambiguous end like this would be extremely unsatisfying after three games of build up.

Right now I'm trying to figure out the context of Cloud's dialogue lines during the Jenova Lifeclinger fight. He tells himself "you've done this before," so Cloud at this point has some future memories. You can draw a line to his final words to Aerith before the fight in the JP dub, "wait for me" - something that future Cloud would more likely say. But he clearly isn't this coherent at the end of the game, being so oblivious to the rest of the party's sorrow. Did we get bait and switched with the Clouds at EoC? This is the one major plot element I can't reconcile.

Once dog is out just hit them with triple slash or a magnified spell to break their tether. Then go crazy on Darkstar, and once he's dead Rufus will enrage and pressure and you should be able to finish him off easily

The Dyne scene was fine. I don't know why people complain. The only problem I had with it is that Barret's VA is so much better than Dyne's shitty English anime dub voice actor doing his 'I'm so evil and crazy' shtick.
Also, I haven't gotten much further than this point yet, but Cloud comforting better and the "I mean it, man" was the best moment of the game so far.

She is, but part of that is Aerith is frankly too preoccupied and burdened to let her own faults show up at the time the game goes on. She knows she's going to probably die soon. She probably has all sorts of little issues with her from her own baggage. Also it is what it is, Cloud lucked out. Tifa is no worse of a person than Cloud to me, so if she got her own new romance where she isn't tied to Cloud that would probably do her a world of good.
