Why do guest characters trigger fighting game troons? The base game has a complete list of characters. The dlc are bonus characters "adding" to the game. It's not deleting anything.

Anon I'm going to play Terry in SF6 because it'll be a game that doesn't have four jump heights which filter me in every game they appear in, if I need to hyper hop to play him properly I'm going to end up sticking with Marisa until S3.

1Dante, which is the version that almost always gets picked for crossovers anyway (3Dante being in Marvel just fits what Marvel is). He's generally more grounded and has somewhat short combos but hits like a truck and can cover different angles in the mid-range, but then he pops DT install and now he gets airdashes and Air Raid. Put him in the SamSho-equivalent Groove and he'd be a threat but not totally break the game.

too wild and crazy tbh, I think a CVS game is best when its got mostly the grounded KOF and SF martial artists in it without trying to appeal to MVC gays who want to see megaman and shit. Those gays got their own games of crazy crossovers, let CVS be a celebration of those old arcade fighters before everything had to be about jamming everyone's favorite corporate icon into it.
I would agree, but at the same time I found CvS2's roster to be really bland despite how good the game is as a whole. SvC Chaos maybe went a bit overboard, but it had some interesting choices like Tessa & Shiki. I don't see why Captain Commando or Jin Saotome wouldn't have fit into CvS2 using their MvC1 sprites, given Morrigan is there, Linn Kurosawa was planned until rights issues came up, and Yun calls in Yang as a striker like CapCom does. Marco would've been great for the SNK side as well, proven by his appearance in NGBC.
A few crazy picks are expected, like Morrigan and Haohmaru, but I think its easy to kind of slop up the game and lose focus. I think SFxT's roster did this too, and as a result it doesn't really invoke feelings of either Tekken or SF. It feels like its own mess. A CVS game should make you feel like you're in the world of SF and KOF, not have like Megaman and Mars People being these big distractions.
IMO Captain Commando feels over the line because he's not just a superhero, he's from the future, and his assists are a big part of him. Linn Kurosawa vs Marco or Fio would have been great, I agree, and there's precedent for them, it's just I think CVS is served better when its focused mostly on if being the grounded martial artists from places South Town, Metro City etc, merging those two grounded worlds together and giving them enough respect to take them seriously enough to not need everything to be a flashy mess like every other game feels like it needs to be. The only reason not to is fear that zoomers will find it boring if they don't have several scrunkos to meme about
If Haohmaru is your idea of a crazy pick then I think we're just not looking for the same things. Having only three characters split between SamSho and Last Blade felt really low to me, and a CvS3 should have at least enough SamSho characters to fill a team. Personally I'd go with Haohmaru/Galford/Darli in that instance but there's plenty of options.

Why is movement so stiff in Guilty Gear Strive?
It's literally the exact same framedata for the majority of movement options from Xrd which was hampered coming from X2-+R era to seduce the non anime fighting game gays
A lot of walking and jumping speeds per character feel a lot faster and more responsive in Rev 2 than in Strive.

Combo string changes most certainly relate to basic movements changes and effects them, also when you say a fighter feels "stiff" you don't only mean basic movement and JUST that. Move execution can feel stiff, recovering from moves can feel stiff, flow of combos can feel stiff.
They removed gatling, so alot of stuffed that use to combo into each other constantly doesn't. The change up from Xrd to strive is that instead instinctively doing a P>k>S>HS opener before you go into specials, strive becomes more about knowing when to do specials outside of long ass combos.

Gatlings were the most intuitive and fun stuff from previous GGs, even casuals could use them by pressing random buttons.
To break away from long ass combo lock meta and create more balanced back and forth matches is my guess, but that's was more of a blazblue problem than a guilty gear one.
Because if it was exactly like Xrd or +R people would not want to buy or play it and arcsys were trying to avoid making another gg that they put effort into but does terribly like xrd

Notice how neutral is them walking back and forth with pokes. Neutral in SF6 is largely about checking eachother's drive rush instead and pokes really only play a factor when in burnout.

Goto about a minute in the video. Akuma only gets crazy once he's in after the knockdown or when he uses that crazy button the video is talking about to get in close more easily and start his pressure. Otherwise general neutral in SFIV involves projectiles, pokes and focus attacks.

On steam how do I download just the online and training mode for SF6? World tour is unecessary and not worth the space but I don't see the option anywhere to exclude it.
I don't know if you can choose not to install the full game, but if you go to it in your Library and click "Manage my DLC" you'll be able to uninstall World Tour from there.

Any of SF's titty monsters (and most of SNK's, including the characters with canonically bigger busts than Mai) have more interesting gameplay than Mai. I feel the same about Elena and the rest of the 3S roster, I'd take any of them over her except for Remy & Twins.

Would Capcom vs Jump be powerful enough to make fighting games mainstream again? I feel like they should try for the sake of the entire genre.
Fighting games are more mainstream now than they've been for a long time. Multiple franchises are selling multiple millions and mid-range games have dedicated online scenes due to good netcode, on top of Fightcade slowly growing with time.
Also Capcom vs Jump would need to jump through Bamco rights hoops and even then the Jump half of the roster would only cover like six manga because of how many obligatory characters the most popular ones have.
Fighting games are doing okayish but they remain in a steady decline and are far off from their peak in the 90s. There's a barrier to entry and every new generation of players needs a Capcom game to train them to like the genre. SF6 has good player retention (fuled almost exclusively by vtubers) but it is selling slower than SF4 and its nomie tekken/MK competition which draw large casual audiences that only stick around for a week or two.
Since marvel is dead and everyone under the age of 30 is a weeb it feels like the right time to give the genre a shot in the arm. As a millennial id probably hate all their choices because it would be zoomer jump shit but whatever, id like to see fighting games return to prominence and spark a new age of experimentation rather than playing the same IP made for the same nostalgic boomers.

you can buy the steam edition if you want but it's 100% dead online since the netcode is garbage and the entire playerbase has been using the fanmade rollback caster for the past decade and a half. The steam release was basically just a minimum effort job because there was no legal way to play the latest version of the game at all for years.

tekken is tekken, it barely ever changes. In terms of quality and player count its basically the same as 7, it just looks bad now because SF is no longer shit and is outcompeting it on every level.
The only reason you thought T7 was setting the world on fire was because Capcom shot themselves in the foot multiple times and made everyone else look good by comparison. Tekken was always a 2nd tier fighting game.

The only major fightan releases on the horizon are 2XKO and Fatal Fury CotW.
2XKO will have a big playerbase at the start since it's F2P, but who knows how the player retention will be. CotW on the other hand is hard to gauge, there seems to be much more buzz about it than previous SNK fighters, but the actual playerbase is anybody's guess, SNK fighters aren't known for being popular worldwide.

2XKO is a Riot game, it'll be the most popular fighting game for pretty much ever. LoL > Dota / Valorant > CS. It's free to play and will have a massive roster in a few years of it's lifespan, costumes will be added frequently, it'll also be an investment to get good at it since the prize money will be huge and the game won't be replaced by a sequel in a few years like other fighters. It'll easily take over and be bigger than Street Fighter, Tekken and Mortal Kombat.

anyway just buy the base game and use creamapi/koalageddon to get the dlc
but you seem dumb and annoying so maybe it's for the best if you stay away
