Final Remix

Are the controls bad enough to ruin the port or is it worth buying?

If you've played the original then it might suck for you but if you're like me and haven't played it then it's fun enough, although people who've played both versions recommend using the coop mode by yourself to make it feel closer to the DS version

The game runs fine on Switch, but the unholy amount of filler ruins the entire game. This and FF7R are posterchildren for how to stretch 5 hours of story into a 35 hours game.

The post is about the original game, not the sequel

        >implying OG TWEWY doesn’t have its fair share of filler with shit like “the countless wrongs of our days”
That other anon is moronic but come on now, anon.

        >survive a week in our game and you can go back
        >Okay, now do it again
        >Okay, now do it again

        >plot twists and the stakes constantly raising is filler

You just play it in singleplayer co-op (Put both Joycons in the controller grip you got with the system, turn on co-op, then play with both controllers) and it's fine. Touch controls are unbelievably awful even if you have a stylus that works on the screen since I tried it, and because it's based off the mobile version it makes partners into pins unlike co-op mode.
DS is still better but it's still fine.

I'll be playing on a lite. Any idea how that will change things?

You will suffer because the touch screen gameplay sucks, like I said. It's just like playing it on a phone so your co-op partner is effectively just a seventh pin you can use that's on cooldown completely destroying the friendship you're supposed to see through gameplay. It also constantly feels like it never registers hits properly. If you're going to play it then you bare minimum need a stylus that works on the Switch's touch screen. Fingers feel like garbage.

Thats too bad, looks like I'll have to pass on this one. How about neo? Does it run okay on a switch lite?

If you're thinking of playing NEO before the original, then just don't play it altogether. Besides, that anon is being a moron, touch screen controls are fine, never ever play the remix, just get a ds flashcart or some shit but do yourself a favor and play this before NEO (I actually like NEO best, but I wouldn't have been able to like it as much as I do if I hadn't played Twewy first)

Thanks for the reply, always wanted to play both and heard you should play them in order but unfortunately im limited to what I can play it on. I might explore the avenue you suggested though.

Never played TWEWY, but I highly enjoyed NEO frankly, had a slow slum in mid week2, plus the turf wars are a slog. Otherwise quite a good game.

              >touch screen controls are fine,
They're tolerable at the best of days. I tried to do all of week 1 with it and I had to tap out fairly early on because of how bad of a control scheme it was and felt like.

See, I enjoyed Solo Co-Op quite a bit, but that sounds like an awful way to do it. Having each controller be free and being able to have them each fight their own enemies on each side of the screen was way more fun. I really liked Solo Co-Op in general, and the only change I can dream of is having the partners take damage, and then it'd be perfect. Them having their own pins and controls was incredibly fun to get used to.
I guess I'd wish for the Light Puck back too, but I'm not trying to be greedy here.

Most people can't do that kind of multitasking which is why it's my usual go-to recommendation. I know I can't do it and I've seen others say the same thing. By putting it in the grip you can sync both sides at the same time and focus exactly on the same enemies which leads to a higher damage output, constant sync bonuses, and you'll desync anyway so it'll eventually start covering a bit of a different area.

Fair enough, do whatever feels best. I suppose I consider it like DS "auto" control of partners. It's really rewarding to be able to control your partner fully while also keeping tabs on Neku, and FR's Solo Co-Op is much more a test of ambidexterity compared to the raw hand-eye coordination of the OG. I could definitely write better with my left hand after playing the game, that much I can say with certainty. That said, I could definitely see how it would lead to better damage output with the right pin sets, just seems less fun personally.

It's the best they could have done with a port of a game fundamentally tied to a system whose features no longer exist

i bought this dumbass port while drunk despite owning the original and i haven't even bothered to open the box
original is great though, nostalgia probably clouds my vision but i've never found a JRPG that quite scratches the same itch. even the sequel felt a little too derivative compared to the freshness of it.

The DS version is still cheaper than this one so there’s no reason not to just get that.
