I want to get into gundam, should I watch mercury witch or whatever the frick it’s called or watch the first anime from the 80s? Or should I read the manga with the nice covers at Barnes and noble?
And what gundam model grade do I start in? There’s so many grades
gundam grades are size and detail, except RG which is the same scale as HG but has more movement in limbs and more detail. HG->RG->MG->PG>PGU
so start with HG since fricking up is only a $10-20 investment. as for media, 80s show requires you to be able to handle old anime with extreme jank animation and pacing issues but go ahead if you want, look up the UC timeline as that's the main one, I don't have a good list on hand but WFM kinda relies on the mythos of gundam to be effective, though it is standalone, same as turn A and others that aren't the UC timeline.
>I want to get into gundam, should I watch mercury witch or whatever the frick it’s called
LMAO don't even think about watching g-witch.
Absolute garbage.
Go for the first, ask for directions later.
Have you watched any other mecha?
kotobikuya kits require a lot of extra effort to look good whereas with gundam you can sorta get away with the bare minimum. it'll only really filter snapshitters (someone who just snaps the kits together like legos and doesnt put in anymore effort). people who already paint their gundam model will be fine tho
nothing really, but a lot of people will spend months painting and detailing a single gundam model and they dont like being lumped in with people who just snap the kits together in an afternoon and call it a day. the term snapshitter exists to differentiate them from people who put in lots of effort
I don't care, as a paintchad you are my friend, my snapshitter friend.
Kek I guess I'm a snapshitter, I've only ever made one model though but it's nice to know so I don't buy models from that company unknowingly.
Kotobukiya has become a lot more "Bandai-ish" in recent years so the kits might look tolerable, so I wouldn't completely avoid them if you aren't painting.

if you dont already id recommend at least spraying your kits with a clear top coat. it'll get rid of the plastic sheen and make your kit look 10x better for almost 0 effort
Bandai = really easy models to build that look okay even without paint
Kotobukiya = target audience is more dedicated modelers(people who build gunpla tend to complain a lot about these models)

>t. last built a kotobukiya model in 2009
They make toys with waterslides now, their only saving grace is bandai's plastic is putty now
The standard version doesn't come with any decals. Like any Kotobukiya kit, you're supposed to paint the camo pattern and details yourself. The black version does have a decal sheet, but it's for cringe shit that isn't in the game.
enjoy your plastic doll anon!
I'm going to enjoy this very much
frick yeah, I love spending $100 for 2 tiny bottles of vallejo air brush paint and cleaning the clogs in my air brush every 5 minutes
>using shitllejo with your airbrush
Why the frick would you punish yourself like this?
it's either that or buying mr color paints from ebay and waiting 2 months for them to arrive
skill issue
Don't remember the last time I had to unclog my eclipse when I used vallejo
good for you, anon - enjoy it!
I got mine couple months ago
it's obviously still boxed, need to finish my YF-19 first
>kotobukiya
hope you got a full airbrush setup, those models are made for painting.
>vallejo
ewwwwwwwwwww
>complains about painting
>buys Aoshima

have fun with your Japanese Funko Pop (anime figure) anon
Sorry only White ver.s are allowed here
It looks like shit out of the box, you better get that paint ready.
Also, frick you Kotobukiya, where's my Aaliyah Supplice reissue?
>love model kits and building robots
>hate painting
truly life is a curse
You can always just do bandai kits if you accept that they all will look like toys
I'm envious. post a pic of how that's supposed to look like when it's finished.
I've had the original color version for months and still haven't put it together. Good thing I didn't order the MGS4 version too after all.
new video when you frick
>Black
Your nub game better be on point.
going to be funny seeing all those gundamgays get filtered by the upcoming armored core vi models because it's made by kotobukiya.
kotobukiya has improved over the years but their old model kits are embarrasing tier
pic not related?
White glint is a 10 year old kit it's fricking awful
maybe if you just snap and judge it based on that.
even 2008 AC kits are pretty good if you know how to paint as their detail and mold is really good.
I don’t understand
I don’t buy models, who’s kotobikuya
Why would gundam guys get mad
I don't know. He's probably some moron trying to stir up shit. I'm a Gundam gay and I like Kotobukiya and Armored Core.

Wait, w-what’s wrong with being a snapshitter
I have a minimum wage job man, I don’t have time
I don't care, as a paintchad you are my friend, my snapshitter friend.

Thanks dude, I'll keep that in mind. I have that exact same model too
Just don't spray the translucent parts without testing on the runners first

i bought this exact kid years ago. never even started it because you need to paint it. it's just collecting dust in my closet somewhere.
nice
I have the racist version
why haven't you applied decals or painted?
there are no decals

I HATE PAINTING WHITE
I HATE PAINTING WHITE
I HATE PAINTING WHITE
I HATE PAINTING WHITE
YOU WILL PAINT THE CUM GLINT
YOU WILL BUY THE VOB ADD-ON
YOU WILL SPEND DAYS TO GET THE WEATHERING RIGHT
AND YOU WILL BE HAPPY
all kits needs to have those NO STEP decals, they improve any model dramatically
A full sheet of those costs like $5
Fricking tiny.
