The first one fricking sucked because it was so hard to see some enemies out of line of sight so you had to memorize the level through trial and error.
This game taught me there are times where I will frick up a thousand times but I'll eventually get it right and beat the damn level. That was when I went for S ranks years ago. I love HM2
I couldn't even make it halfway through the first game it was such fricking shit.
ugly art.
awful music.
terrible controls.
pretentious story.
trial and error gameplay.
if you unironically like this shit I can confidently discard all your opinions on anything else. You have abysmal taste and there is no cure.
I don't like saying this anon, but I think you just got filtered.
Yeah the art is ugly, but the ugliness serves its purpose far more than most pixelshit or even AAA realistic graphics games.
The music is specifically composed to put you in a trans/flow state, you might not like it, but it serves its purpose well and conveys the themes and mental state of the MC.
The controls work perfectly on kb+m, did you play on controller?
The story is definitely not for everyone, but its one of the more well-executed unreliable narrator stories in games. You just don't like non-traditional storytelling and that's fine.
Apart from a few levels and the bosses, the gameplay is very far from trail and error, especially if you only made it halfway through the game. If you feel early Hotline Miami is trail and error it is unironically just a skill issue.
Hey Anon, the game isn't for you, and that's completely fine. You weren't good at it, the themes didn't vibe with you and that's all good. However, Hotline Miami is unironically one of the most well-designed games out there, and that's coming from a game designer. It knows exactly what it is and perfectly executes on that aesthetic, which is exactly why people were so mad about HLM2 which threw a lot of that out the window.
Only if you haven't actually played the games, anon. #1 offers the player plenty of cover, #2 is basically just a crapshoot where you're lucky to not get sniped by an enemy outside your screenspace. The Hotline Miami formula works best in extremely close-quarters.
There's nothing wrong with the level design when you can pick up a gun and fire and everyone in the vicinity will try to rush you and you can get the jump on them if you plan it right
Laughable opinion.
Katana Zero doesn't even come close to Hotline Miami in terms of gameplay or music, and is far too short to properly execute the narrative it was going for.
I bought the game because the gameplay looked cool, but stayed for the story. It's not even that complex or original, but the way it is told is just superb imo. Everytime you think a constant has been estabilished (wheter it be in gameplay or the story), it takes that constant and turns it on its head, and yet it still manages to be be very cohesive from the beggining to end. Beacause of that there's really no downtime throughout the game and so I ended up finishing it in a single sitting, and stared at my screen watching the end credits, feeling like I've just finished reading a really long book. It's the kinda game where I would do a lot to be able to experience it for the first time again.
It's fun and really REALLY hard on hard mode with no slow motion ability, i swear to god, just stomp through the base game, activate hard mode without slowmo and feel your brain EXPAND and reflexes GROW, I'm CERTAIN i could reflect a bullet with a Katana in real life thanks to this game
I mean every playable character is evil or insane in some way except for maybe Richter(he still killed Jacket’s gf though)
50 Blessings just takes advantage of them
Too many guns
Shitty level designs
No free choice of mask per level
Inferior music
The music would be tolerable but the game was too much story blabla and no pleasant gameplay. And I 100% the first game, I really dont know how they fricked it up this badly
As some anon has probably said before, HM2 soundtrack isn't bad, it's just doesn't feel quite put together like the first one, every HM song in it's soundtrack fits together with one another, but HM2 soundtrack is all over the place but sexualizer it's one of my top 10 songs of all time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaE20aXxCz4
sucks
they stop using the walls you can shoot through in HM2
i know they're only used like twice in the first game but they're fun
The first one fricking sucked because it was so hard to see some enemies out of line of sight so you had to memorize the level through trial and error.
2s level design sucks dick
surely you are speaking about 2
Filtered

That blu-ray disc has under a gig of data on it. It could fit on a compact disc, let alone a DVD. That's a pretty serious flaw

Thats so fricking rad
it sucks on the vita cuz you can't change aim sensitivity
The first game was based
The 2nd game is the worst shit in the world
Pic related
Both look good

Thankfully most of 2 is close quarters.
damn nver seen the roll actually work. Respect.
>what is the zoom button
>what is baiting enemies
>what is good level design
There's nothing wrong with the level design when you can pick up a gun and fire and everyone in the vicinity will try to rush you and you can get the jump on them if you plan it right
The second one is better than the first one.
When is someone going to make a good version of hm2 maps?
This. It's supposed to be quick and violent not some stealth game.
Too addictive.
How do I get gud on switch?
because the one you posted is on console
Mogged by Katana zero
absolutely based
Laughable opinion.
Katana Zero doesn't even come close to Hotline Miami in terms of gameplay or music, and is far too short to properly execute the narrative it was going for.
Is it really that good? I thought about getting it on release, but it looked like discount HM with added stealth.

The artist for these is shit
Post bangers
GOTTA GET A GRIP
what the FRICK were they thinking?
FRICK these levels
First game good gameplay, good story second game bad gameplay, decent to bad story.
2
too repetive, one sided mechanics
Melee was great fun in 1 and garbage in 2.
Roller Mobster is still the best part of both games.
The graphics look like a horse trying to wipe its ass with an eagle.
Off the screen gunfire.
The soundtrack
Jk I can't
Well the most glaring one is the esrb rating is not right in the bottom left corner
>durr-hurr, evil nationalists control minds with hate speech
Stupid story. Great game.
I think it's more about questioning why people enjoy violence in media.
I mean every playable character is evil or insane in some way except for maybe Richter(he still killed Jacket’s gf though)
50 Blessings just takes advantage of them
What about the Pig guy? Wasn't he just an actor?
Actors fall in the insane category, anon.
He was an actor and director who used his movies to act out his grotesque fantasies. He was a jab at the "it's okay because it's not real!" argument.
What crack are you on? The game's message is about violence in media
50 Blessings was glorified flavor text
when the frick's angerfoot coming out?
Getting shot from off screen
>indie shit
everything
You sound underage
Born in '04.
2nd one sucked balls
Too many guns
Shitty level designs
No free choice of mask per level
Inferior music
The music would be tolerable but the game was too much story blabla and no pleasant gameplay. And I 100% the first game, I really dont know how they fricked it up this badly
>Inferior music
Bait

the second one is obnoxious
For the physical PS4 version? Only Hotline Miami 1 is on the disc. HM2 is on a download code inside the box.
One of the few truly 10/10 moments in vidya.
So everyone is in agreement that Paris is the best song, right?
Not when Crystals exists.
There wasn't enough screentime with the Miami Multilator
