Of course part 3 will have a lot of Tifa shipping, Aerith can't be with the party the whole time. Rebirth was very much Aerith's game, so it makes sense if Tifa gets a lot of focus in the next one.
I don't know. If they're handling things how they did in this game, Tifa will get a lot of screentime, but the shipping content might be optional just like her romance.
It makes sense to me. Remake gives them both a lot of shipshit(the flower going to Tifa was pretty big IMO, and Aerith even mentions it), but this one needed to be about Aerith at least somewhat nonoptionally because otherwise she'd get nothing, really. If they didn't give her the song and didn't give her a few nonoptional dates it'd be entirely about what happens to her rather than her as a person. It would not surprise me if at least the first half is pretty heavy on Tifa.
Either way, the game should be enjoyed beyond a ship of just 2 characters, reducing Aerith to just needing to date Cloud basically makes her a plot device.

I don't get how you see it this way when the first game gave us plenty of material. I think both ships get their fair amount of content, with Aerith getting just a bit more in the main story since she plays a bigger role overall. I see Part 3 giving us more Tifa scenes, what I question is whether her romantic moments will be optional or not. I want to see how they handle this since they made the dates optional in this game.
Because they have the added context of her being there with him in the lifestream. Her first date at the Gold Saucer was always optional, it's after the Temple that Tifa gets more romantic focus. The firs half of 3 is where they'll either "break up", or where they'll show them getting closer. It'll be settled before the game is over IMO. She'll either realize they can't be together or they'll use it to give them their big moment without ambiguity.

The lessons Sakaguchi leaned from dealing with the sudden death of his mother are brilliantly conveyed in the FF7 scene (and NOT in Rebirth scene). Aerith as a character was not created TO die, but Nomura advocated that either Barret or her (since that was the party outside of Cloud at the time) needed to die to convey the message of the game, and Barret dying woudl be too anticipated (which would detract from the message of the game), so he advocated for Aerith dying.

Sakaguchi wanted to convey that death was sudden and senseless, without fanfare or great purpose. Aerith's death in FF7 perfectly conveys that. You have no idea why she was shanked, it was done silently, she did not cry out or shout or go down in blaze of glory, she is just dead right there. Barret would not have the same effect, as he is the type of character you would EXPECT to die, to go out in a blaze of glory (something they reference on the stairs in Remake).
The Rebirh scene, by contrast is not about this message at all, since its all caught up in the multiverse stuff. Its almost the opposite; Aeriths theme that plays as you battle Jenova Lifeclinger is triumphant in a way (since Aerith dying is what ultimately proves Sephiroth's undoing not only in FF7, but in AC and undoubtedly the Remake project ("I must say, I underestimated you" he says to Lifestream Aerith when she shows up in the final battle).

Any idea that the compilation is in anyway canon would be swept away. Between FF7, CC and TLO there are three different versions of the Nibelheim Incident, and I have no doubt that R3 will add a fourth. Honestly, the last people you should listen to about FF7 lore are the people that make it.
TLO is irrelevant and has never been canon, while the difference between OG and CC is explained to you in the games themselves: it’s experienced by different people. Cloud’s perspective is more limited, hence he knows less.

Rebirth's gameplay is amazing but I'm kinda annoyed that to actually fully fill how good it is, is only when you do Hard Mode. A lot of the materia you get aren't that good because of them being not leveled yet. Also they really failed to explain why certain materia's are good like Quaga.
Was it logical for Cloud's trial to be the pillar? Seems like Nibelheim and the loss of his mother was a much more logical place to go

The god awful execution of the ending, the pointlessly padded open world with tasks that are boring and serve no purpose than being busy work, the butchering of certain scenes from the original for no reason(the ending is not one of them, it's bad for a different reason but I don't consider it the same scenes, more like the Dine's death), the combat is still lacking in polish and is flawed as an action game and having way too much animation lock making the more defensive and evasive options not flow well. It for some reason still has the same padding issues as the first part despite not even needing to since there's more than enough grounds to cover a full length game. The stupid way hard mode is designed with it's artificial difficulty that is counter intuitive to it's own mechanics and design. Chadley being more involved and yet serving absolutely no purpose(though Mai is cute so I'll forgive it), they still overshow Sephiroth, they didn't do One Winged Angel justice cause they already blew their load in the first part(why the frick did they use OWA in part 1?) That's to name a few that pop to mind when I think of egregious flaws.

From recent interviews I think it is the definitive end for VII. Nomura is done with it. Kitase just wants to give the characters a happy end which suggests he's ready to close the book aswell. Nojima is closing in on retirement age.
And fatigue will set in, you can't milk the same shit forever (see Marvel) and expect the fanbase to remain engaged. This remake already spans 12 years or so since announcement to the final game. It's time to move on.
