Conquest. The story is ass but its arguably the best gameplay in the series and probably one of the best tactical RPGs of all time, not just in Fire Emblem.
Compared to
1- Gary Stu and Gary Stu 2 featuring Mary sue on a quest to save Gary Stu 2 from becoming DA EVIL LORD!!!
2- Gary Stu has only 3 choices in life and everyone wants his dick
Awakening is a fun enough FE with a competent enough story. Supports get kind of generic (muh food supports) but they have some good shit in there. Difficulty curve is fricked though, hard and below are too easy and lunatic and above are moronic. Maps are also mostly uninspired mob rushes.
BR is Awakening with better gameplay but way worse story and characters.
CQ has great gameplay, awful story and a mixed bag of characters.
SoV has amazing presentation, a real love letter to Gaiden. Too bad it feels as archaic as the original in regards to actual gameplay.
>every map has a stupid gimmick >this is good because... ummmm
I think it's funny the amount of squealing edelgard gets for being evil when the story of conquest is standing up to dad is just too spooky and it gets endless shilling
You're given too much shit with how the reclassing works in this game and there's a lot of balancing issues, especially regarding Master Classes. You also have Battalions to pump up your stats.
Mediocre gameplay, shit story, well written characters if you ignore the few shitty ones, boring maps, the hub area gameplay is a fricking terrible attempt at emulating Persona, the game is ugly as sin, the customization and unit building options are strictly worse than the 3ds games, the difficulty curve is good, permadeath is poorly implemented thanks to the lack of recruitment for half the game, and you can tell that Treehouse got their grubby hands on the game during production and ruined some aspects of it.
Oh no, a few bad maps. Suddenly I will ignore the other maps, the weapons, the skills, the dungeons... well, pretty much everything that makes this game vastly superior to the rest of the series outside 4.
Frick swamps. Frick castles with a single fricking entrance. Frick Cantors. Frick Witches. Frick Zombie Drakes. Frick the reused dungeon maps. Frick Magic using HP. Frick the Dread Fighter loop and most importantly, frick you.
Post one good map and I will concede. The dungeons were really insubstantial too.
Finding screens of maps is a pain in the ass.
?t=638
Flat layout, enemies run to you, the advantageous position is at the center of the map so you have to move, no place to hide, no shitty chokehold. You really don't need more than that to make a good map.
You weren't a fan of rescue Mathilda, Lord of a Dead Empire or the one where you reclaim Zofia?
Different anon and I honestly thought the maps were a little lackluster, and don't really measure up to some of the ones in 4 through 10, but I do feel Birthright and Echoes get overhated on their map design based on that one map that is designed to be storytelling for how good Zeke is, and an over-usage of pirate ships with auto-summon enemies
I played Awakening and Echoes. Both are good.
I skipped Fates because frick that disgusting localization, plus as soon as they announced it was 3 games sold separately I lost interest.
Conquest. Maybe Echoes if you want something different even though I wouldn't call it great. Awakening did save the series, but it's not a very good game. It's horribly broken in the worst way possible and all its systems encourage you to play in a boring, snowbally fashion.
>Shadows of Tellius
There is no way IS will go to the commitment of remaking two games, let alone selling it as one.
This applies to Jugdral more or less too, I can only see it with Elibe
i find very annoying how all the phoenix wright games on the nds are great and the ones on the 3ds are ass, while every fire emblem on the 3ds is great and those on the nds are ass
Awakening for a better overall package than the other 3DS games and Conquest if you're purely wanting to play a good strategy game.
Anyone who says Echoes is a fricking liar. That game is so fricking shit to play that it's nicer to recommend someone to just watch the story on Youtube rather than trying to fool them into actually playing it.
>if you're purely wanting to play a good strategy game. >conquest >we don't know how to balance difficulty so we'll add reinforcements every couple of turns every single map
They're not instant reinforcements so you can at least play around them and they're typically not the hardest part of the map. It's not like Awakening which sends out Falconknights with Spears out of nowhere that snipe kill your healer.
Half the main Conquest exclusive maps have either 0 waves or 1 wave of reinforcements. And in most cases they're triggered by entering a space or triggering a specific event. I think there are only 8 maps with reinforcements higher than 2 waves.
They're all awful honestly. The 3DS era suck ass compared to nearly everything before and after it. Just play Three Houses or Genealogy of the Holy War instead.
It's when the royal families have a meal together after a nohrian general captures Ryoma and co and then your posse fights that general because killing the Hoshidan royals (which they were planning on doing anyway) and ending the war quickly would be dishonourable.
Conquest. The story is ass but its arguably the best gameplay in the series and probably one of the best tactical RPGs of all time, not just in Fire Emblem.
All of them
Echoes has the best story
Fates is kinda fun for the maps if you ignore the story
Awakening saved the series so you should play it anyways.
But really play them all if you liked one of them.
Too bad Echoes gameplay is literally the same as the NES version. All that good production value ruined by big ol maps and shitty gameplay.
Conquest is the only answer.
>Echoes has the best story
It's still a terrible story.: a thematic mess with bland characters and a head-scratching plot
Compared to
1- Gary Stu and Gary Stu 2 featuring Mary sue on a quest to save Gary Stu 2 from becoming DA EVIL LORD!!!
2- Gary Stu has only 3 choices in life and everyone wants his dick
none of these
sacred stones
but that's a 3DS free title, I have it since 2011
Conquest is the only one with good gameplay, imo. But Echoes has the best story and post-game.
Luci's voice warms my heart when nothing else will.
Bernie Bernie Bernie!
Conquest. Great maps and great difficulty even on hard. Having limited resources just makes the experience better.
Awakening is a fun enough FE with a competent enough story. Supports get kind of generic (muh food supports) but they have some good shit in there. Difficulty curve is fricked though, hard and below are too easy and lunatic and above are moronic. Maps are also mostly uninspired mob rushes.

SoV has amazing presentation, a real love letter to Gaiden. Too bad it feels as archaic as the original in regards to actual gameplay.
anything before awakening
>no marriage or supports for MC
pass
>the mc can get married
>but everything else is shittier
i won, but at what cost...
>everything else is shittier
>conquest best gameplay in the series
pick 1
>every map has a stupid gimmick
>this is good because... ummmm
I think it's funny the amount of squealing edelgard gets for being evil when the story of conquest is standing up to dad is just too spooky and it gets endless shilling
The difference is that nobody is defending CQ's story or pretending that Corrin isn't a complete moron.
Conquest for sure. Best gamepay and music, I had a really fun time replaying it on Lunatic too.
what do we think of 3 houses? Im on maddening classic ch 9 of Crimson Flower and having fun perfecting my units stats
Enjoyable cast, story and world building, but broken gameplay and awful pacing.
>but broken gameplay
What do you mean?
You're given too much shit with how the reclassing works in this game and there's a lot of balancing issues, especially regarding Master Classes. You also have Battalions to pump up your stats.
so its too easy you mean? I guess thats true although some of the paralogues have been pretty frustrating. Especially on classic.
Amazing characters and world but suffers from horrible presentation, unfinished story, and unbalanced/repetitive gameplay
Awakening. Fates has a quantity over quality problem. I never played echoes though.
Echoes. It's Gaiden but in a much better package but still keeps the Kagajank.
Echoes. Best gameplay, best story, best presentation.
This exact map appears at least 5 times too.
Literally just a JRPG
Oh no, a few bad maps. Suddenly I will ignore the other maps, the weapons, the skills, the dungeons... well, pretty much everything that makes this game vastly superior to the rest of the series outside 4.
Frick swamps. Frick castles with a single fricking entrance. Frick Cantors. Frick Witches. Frick Zombie Drakes. Frick the reused dungeon maps. Frick Magic using HP. Frick the Dread Fighter loop and most importantly, frick you.
Literally nothing wrong with all of this
Finding screens of maps is a pain in the ass.

The name of the website where I got
is in the bottom right corner so it shouldn't be that hard to find.
Let enemies come to you is also not something I find particularly challenging,
> few bad maps
> celica route exist
Post one good map and I will concede. The dungeons were really insubstantial too.
You weren't a fan of rescue Mathilda, Lord of a Dead Empire or the one where you reclaim Zofia?

did my corrin shitposting start a fe boulder that wont stop?
fire emblem is not, never was, and will never be a jrpg
who started this meme?
was it you, 3dsbabs?
No. It's an SRPG
japanese tactical/strategic RPG.
doesn't make it a jrpg moron
elaborate. is it not a type of RPG made in japan?
It's a streategy game
JRPG refers to a style of game, not the origin. Dark Souls isn't a JRPG.
Yes it is
I like to pretend that im the main character that is actually there making the decisions and getting all the ladies so it is a role playing game 🙂
They're all bad
Anything but echoes.
Birthright is the only one not worth playing, the other three have their merits. But Conquest is the best of them.
i just want one more game like conquest
I played Awakening and Echoes. Both are good.
I skipped Fates because frick that disgusting localization, plus as soon as they announced it was 3 games sold separately I lost interest.
Awakening and Conquest. Disregard the rest.
Echoes is the only bad one there, shame because the art is great.
Conquest. Maybe Echoes if you want something different even though I wouldn't call it great. Awakening did save the series, but it's not a very good game. It's horribly broken in the worst way possible and all its systems encourage you to play in a boring, snowbally fashion.
Are we ever getting Shadows of Jugdral? Shadows of Tellius? etc.
>Shadows of Tellius
There is no way IS will go to the commitment of remaking two games, let alone selling it as one.
This applies to Jugdral more or less too, I can only see it with Elibe
Magvel could potentially get a rare win
Awakening and Conquest are the only ones worth even considering. Birthright and Shadows of Valentia are so fricking bad.
Literal goddess
I have all of them
i find very annoying how all the phoenix wright games on the nds are great and the ones on the 3ds are ass, while every fire emblem on the 3ds is great and those on the nds are ass
anyway, conquest and birthright are the same game, the picture is lacking the third: Fates
>the same game
yes, same game different parties
Awakening for a better overall package than the other 3DS games and Conquest if you're purely wanting to play a good strategy game.

They're all awful honestly. The 3DS era suck ass compared to nearly everything before and after it. Just play Three Houses or Genealogy of the Holy War instead.
Conquest is the best for gameplay but make sure to use the fan translation because the "localization" isnt even the same story.
The Jap version is still moronic. How could something like the Zola map ever make sense
The fact that I don't even know what the frick that is is proof enough for me. Though it has been years.
It's when the royal families have a meal together after a nohrian general captures Ryoma and co and then your posse fights that general because killing the Hoshidan royals (which they were planning on doing anyway) and ending the war quickly would be dishonourable.
I just played the black sheep of the series, Revelation.
I ignore the stories though, I just play the game. It was decent but felt pretty easy - I feel like it was pretty chill for a Fire Emblem honestly.
Conquest
