You're not wrong. I remember there was a lot of criticism over FNAF 1 being far too easy and boring, and in response FNAF 2 was made to be a lot more difficult requiring you to multi-task heavily. I'd recommend trying it out to see if its far more challenging. Another game you can try out is UCN which is completely free.

The entire series exists in response to the criticism received from the dev's previous game. It was never supposed to be a huge franchise with "lore" adored by kids.
That being said, I would consider the first FNAF to be a well made horror game.
