What's the alternative? Eroge companies (especially ones that have gameplay) basically don't exist anymore or if they do their main focus is on DMM gacha games not package releases

Unity, there are a few RPGM games that don't feel like clones of each other that actually have effort behind them but for some reason they're all netorare

    I fricking hate MV.
Name one standout MV games. You can't? Thats right, all the good games are either made with VX Ace or 2k/2k3

I also hate MV but for a different reason.
I already have enough Chromium installations on my system, I don't need every porn game to be one as well.

This was made with MV, it's just hard to tell

Omori one of the greatest games of all time was made in that engine

That's not the intended use of the engine

It's the artists engine so there is no particular goal. The limitation encourages creative individuals to find unique solutions while they don't have to worry about the technical parts of gamedeving. Omori is the perfect example of that.

I believe people are buying RPGM games for the story.

The problem isn’t the engine. The problem is incompetent devs. You’d be amazed at how most people don’t have the slightest idea how to design a good game. Lots of people don’t understand how to get creative with the engine either.

      Actually, the problem is you.
It's a RPGM game. There's no need to be "creative". It's a bonus, but not needed.
RPGM games specialize in good art and possibly story. The combat can be generic RPGM.

      >RPGM games specialize in good art
Doesn't that include game assets and sprites? Both of which are lacking.
A good RPGM game has a stillframe shot of the character you're controlling on the right of the screen like

      Yeah

. Imagine that, an RPGM is revolutionary for including minimal effort features like that
