I've played it twice and honestly it just lacks the magic of other zelda games imo. Maybe I'm just too much of a 'zoomer' (even though I'm 1995) to fully appreciate how good it was for its time, but it's still worth playing today. Don't kill me Ganker, but my favourite 2d zelda is Minish Cap

All of Nintendo? All 5,000 of their employees expressed the same opinion and were qualified to do so?

I would strangle you for even looking at the game box funny and not immediately performing a full ninety degree bow while in its presence. In fact you should be performing a dogeza just for being in the same thread as this legendary game.

Not even a top 10 game on it’s own system, and worse then the oracle games awakening and minish cap.

The only good thing about this game was the spritework.

Like a lot of older games, it's better on replay when familiarity smooths over the burrs of frustrating things you had no way to know or the particulars of weird mechanics. Much like Super Metroid it gets better every time I play it.

It's the best Zelda with the best Link, and there is a reason that people still revere it today as an amazing game. I wouldn't say it's the best on the SNES, but that's a Hell of a line up, anyway.

Based. Also that art is fricking great.

    >I know nintendo came out and said they thought this was overrated
This is literally corporate propaganda to try and convince gamers to forget the old games and to buy their new craps
Miyamoto doesn't like the NES and SNES games he worked on because he loves 3D gaming and only wants to make 3D games. He is appealed that 2D games keep selling.
Aonuma doesn't like the pre-Ocarina of Time Zelda games because he doesn't like action games and finds the early Zelda games too difficult for him. That's why he refocused the Zelda series to emphasize "puzzles" and convinced a large portion of Zelda players that "actually, Zelda was always about puzzles".

More people should realize this. It's a common theme in the industry to pull support for previous titles so players are forced to upgrade

The best thing you can say about LttP is that its a pretty big game, bigger than pretty much every other 2D Zelda in fact, it has more dungeons, it has more enemies and traps, two relatively big overworlds. The other thing you can say is that its pretty non-linear, especially once you get to the dark world, its less strict than the Zelda after it about when and where you go and if you get certain items early or late, although compared to the original its pretty linear and handholdy. The major problem with it is that they didn't utilize items in puzzles enough, most puzzles are just really simple although innovative for their time. Same with enemies, although I do appreciate LttP bosses are actual bosses and not the stun and wail on them bosses of later Zelda. The dual world mechanic is also a bit underutilized.

4 direction combat really sucks ass, and I have no idea why it couldnt have a dedicated shield button like the roacles, MC, or LA. Itd make fighting things so much better. Its a fun game but the artstyle is kinda sorta not great

I love this game to death, but the actual "game" has massive flaws due to absolutely no stat balance.
      >If you level enough to have a fair fight with Bloody Mary you are completely overpowered for the rest of the game
      >If you don't and cheese her you can get through the game fine and actually have fun boss fights while a few select enemies in those dungeons will rape you
I swear this could have been resolved just by inflating stats a bit and actually testing this shit or just going with fixed numbers like Zelda and Soul Blazer

I wonder how often stuff like this is cuz of a lack of playtesting, or too much internal playtesting. I've read a couple stories of devs that did all their own playtesting until they were so good at the game it warped their perception of how easy it was. I don't remember what game but they basically refined their own meta and until the whole game was balanced around high skill level meta strats and players would get mollywhopped effortlessly by the AI.

I don't really mind this cuz difficulty is a good way to add replayability, but it's bad when it leads to a single player RPG being an unbalanced mess. Underrail sorta has this problem. If you do the DLC when you're appropriately leveled for it, by the time you come out you're like 5-10 levels higher than the rest of the base game content, and even mediocre or bad builds can roll over the rest of the story mode like that.

      >non-linear
not even. they have a history of trying to bury fan-favorites, Period. look at what happened to Melee fans, Mother fans, SMRPG/early-Paper Mario fans, Pokemon Stadium fans... honestly the list goes on. Nintendo is never more spiteful than to the fans of their own IPs. it's almost as if it's safer for them to have casual fans dumb enough to slurp up whatever generic sequel-slop they churn out next than to have hardcore fans that are actually passionate about the games they play

              Anonymous

Well not just Stadium as far as Pokemon goes, but those games along with Colosseum actually had a fairly big cult-following going for them that Nintendo decided to bury in favor of churning out more handheld games. Just look what happened to Battle Frontier, not that I expect you to remember, you most likely weren't out of diapers yet if you're pretending Stadium wasn't successful
