Switch wasn't shown at all at E3 2016, they just announced that BotW would be a crossgen release on the NX. They gave us the NX codename years out because the company was collapsing and they had to convince people they weren't jumping ship to mobile when they announced Mario Run. Nintendo isn't collapsing right now so they don't need to assure investors and consumers that they will still exist in a few years, like they did after the WiiU flopped. They don't need to acknowledge new hardware until it is time to reveal it.
The Switch actually had 134 days between announce and release. Applied from today that only puts us on the forth of June. So, there is still lots of time for it to come out this year.

March reveal is certainly possible, but I think anyone predicting it is only doing so off of the idea that they will wait for Princess Peach to release before announcing it. Which is fricking moronic. Peach is clearly a small, cheap game aimed at little girls who bought into the platform for Animal Crossing. It has zero crossover with early adopters of new hardware, and will have no effect on when Nintendo chooses to reveal their next gen hand.
