Follow the instructions on SH2 Enhanced Edition's home page to the T, and you should be fine.

-Turning OFF the flashlight can really help w/ stealth!

Because the guide is old, and the GOG version is NOT superior. It has bare minimum fixes to make it RUN on modern systems. The fan-patches do much more nowadays.
