It's not that the synths themselves are the problem but the idea that they represent.
The brotherhood is scared of rapid technological advancements such as synths because it will eventually lead to great weapons of mass destruction or other dangerous fields of science and since there are no governments or laws keeping the scientist in check it might lead to misuse of the technology leading to more disasters like the great war. The brotherhood essentially thinks they are the only ones careful enough with technology and that they are responsible for keeping the people from killing themselves.
As to why synths especially are disliked I suspect its something along the lines of "muh machine uprising" or "if we don't stop them now they will try to replace us."
Not entirely. Their biological tissue is synthetic in some way, and they aren't affected by radiation because of it.
Meaning, there's no cellular division going on, no actual living tissue.
Fallout 4 has better combat with interesting companions and world to explore, if your world is uninteresting then no amount of story will make it enjoyable.
Having a full suit within ten minutes does undermine it a good bit, I agree. They were probably aware it was one of the few things they actually got right and wanted everyone to see it.
>Having a full suit within ten minutes does undermine it a good bit, I agree
eh, if it was a really shitty suit like raider power armor or required a lot maintenance/ drank a shit ton fusion cores, it would be fair.
You should only have 1 core by the time you get that first suit. It is trivial to find more but I don't think the intention was for the player to get the suit and then remain in it until the end of the game.
I wish Power Armor training came back or at least gatekept higher tier armor.
The male MC was supposed to be a veteran so it's understandable he could have received training. The female MC shouldn't have been able to use the PA I agree though. She could have had some alternate quest ending to account for that.
>You should only have 1 core by the time you get that first suit.
You can leave Sanctuary for the Junk Yard and get the Sentry bot to kill itself via the holotape and take the PA right outside the air force base
Synths may be more than robots and have actual consciousness but frankly when you have the ability to instantly wipe and reprogram someone's mind it kinda doesn't matter.
Like sure from the position of the human animal any loss of control is instinctively bad because in the natural world loss of control means death. But if you could rewrite someone's brain to be perfectly happy and content doing whatever it is you want of them then it's kind've a lot more grey. Like if the goal of conscious experience is to live long and not suffer, being programmable is kind've the best outcome assuming the programmer isn't a sadist.
Especially true in the wasteland where people are constantly suffering, if you could wipe all that out and have someone live happy for the rest of their days even if they didn't want it prior it's kind've a net plus don't you think?
Really the issue ends up being the the institute is shit at it and the system breaks down.
>Especially true in the wasteland where people are constantly suffering, if you could wipe all that out and have someone live happy for the rest of their days even if they didn't want it prior it's kind've a net plus don't you think?
Its funny how bethesda went back to their utterly boring first person cam conversations because “fans” didn’t like how the dialogue worked, then bg3 comes through with dialogue that is veeeerrry similar to fo4’s and walks all over starfield. They never should have gone back to that shitty dialogue format. Never listen to “fans”, the loud minority of mentally ill, terminally online autists.
Fans had a problem with the lack of real meaningful dialogue options, not the fact that it wasn't static and in first person. It's like Bethesda misunderstood the criticism, much like you.
Thats just one facet of the complaints and an over simplification. Everything about the dialogue was panned in fan circles, from the choices, to the voice, to the presentation.
Fo4 sucked overall, but they really nailed the whole synth boogieman
At first you might think all the characters are stupidly paranoid, but then you find out some established characters were skinstealers all along and it really does make you paranoid yourself.
The whole Synth boogieman thing was half-baked
What should I be paranoid about?
Especially when the Synths are easy to kill & are cannon fodder just like most of the other enemies in the game
You literally would never know if someone is a synth or not unless you kill them(If they aren't marked as essential) which is just murderhobo shit
Honestly true.
The game really tried to hype up courses as some insane level enemies that you'd have to be very prepared to fight.
...and they're just tankier generic humanoid enemies with stealthboys
>What should I be paranoid about?
Because the institute would abduct people and replace them with synths? It's not just that your friend could become a synth, it was the institute was literally hunting the commonwealth and abducting people to kill and then make them synths.
Why?
Nobody knows. Not even the guy who ran the institute.
>It's not just that your friend could become a synth, it was the institute was literally hunting the commonwealth and abducting people to kill and then make them synths.
Literally why should I care?
It means nothing other than just set dressing
There's no examples in the game that I can remember where it's had any significance
The only significance it's had is shit that's been told to you like how a Synth shot up people at a noodle stand or killing high officials trying to make a Commonwealth gov't because reasons
You never experience anything in the game of a synth freakout, or how it has any relevance to you
All you do is shoot up robots that have the forms of people & that's it
The only relevance that synths have is that you are told that people are synths or have something in their inventory & that's it
>There's no examples in the game that I can remember where it's had any significance
The whole premise is to make you see the bad sides of the institute before you get there.
Someone steals your baby. You investigate and find out it's likely the institute. Guess who basically everyone in the commonwealth hates? The institute. Why? Because they keep kidnapping people and replacing them with synths.
You can say supermutants kidnapped him & there's a new subspecies of mutant that can shapeshift to look human & nothing would fundamentally change
There is nothing in the game that makes you feel like synths were needed
It's just set dressing
Synths are just glorified raiders that just kill & replace people because they feel like it & it's not even a satisfying mystery since there isn't any payoff or interesting opportunities in the game about it
The one instance I remember it being a bit interesting was Danse being a synth, but the quest was lackluster
>What should I be paranoid about?

Collusion from Skyrim modders to undercut FO4 sex mods. Skyrim sex mods didn't take off until like 2014. They wanted to focus more Skyrim because that's where all their work went into. But Skyrim has an animation limit and to this day, no one has found Fallout 4s animation limit.
it doesnt help that skyrim's world is just better acclimated for the sex mods. Fallout 4 has no settlements except diamond city and good neighbor, everything else you need to build yourself.
At least in skyrim I know I can find a nearby town and some tavern wenches for some fun.
It will, the Elder Scrolls has global appeal and doesn't get banned or heavily censored in some countries like Fallout does.

I just hope there's still talented modders out there when the game comes out, since tech literacy is dying, there probably isnt a lot of new modders and the old modders will eventually stop making mods

Why do morons want ES6 to be Daggerfall again??
Give us Elsweyr or Black Marsh. >but durrr the inhabitants of those lands are non-humans
Didn't matter for morrowind.
>Why are coomer mods still last century compared to Skyrim
Many years have passed since skyrim, many modders from that time have become functional adults
They really should have made a bigger version of the laser and plasma rifles for PA use. It is strange that they chose a bulky form for the Assault Rifle that looks fine in the hands of PA but the weapons they actually used in the Great War are tiny little things that look like pistols.
I agree. There definitely should have been a host of power armor exclusive weapons, particularly stuff like Power Fists or a high caliber pistol. There should have been a greater sense of distinction between power armor combat and regular combat.
The idea of synths that are indistinguishable from humans even to a medical examination is moronic. That whole topic was already chewed through to get the last bland taste out in Battlestar Galactica. Bethesda writers are hacks.
Frick fallout 4 attractive females thats the only appeal of the game besides assaultrons and art style change and mpving of crappy 7th gen colour filters
Should I get a mod to restore the RPG stuff and finally do a first playthrough?
I have it because I got it for like a 5 dollars but when I saw the new "leveling" system I nearly wanted to vomit and lost interest.
It's downright fricking disgusting.
>new "leveling" system
It's not new, it's just more spread out, the rest of the skills and perks are in the Perk Mags that you find throughout the game.
>frick synths
>but y tho?

for the sole purpose of procreation
>nuts and bolts
>procreation
they're literally flesh and bone, they are just test tube humans with mind control chips in their brains
we don't know if synths can get pregnant
I am willing to try, for science
Test tube humans programmed to imitate an already living regular human. Face it anon they're just worse Mr. Handy
Not entirely. Their biological tissue is synthetic in some way, and they aren't affected by radiation because of it.

With a sex doll? You failed health class, didn't you?
Curie will forever be cuter as a robot

Hey, frick you buddy!
Seethe NV troony
I just couldn't really get into new vegas even when I tried modding it I just prefer Fallout 4 more

God bless the Enclave

You can and should shit on 4 for a lot of things, but the power armor was really good.
I wish Power Armor training came back or at least gatekept higher tier armor.

Hail Sinths
Frick a synth
>power armor+small gun
Why
It's not the size that counts it's how you use it!
If a robot dreams, is it human?

Would you?

BG3s actual dialogue menu is more similiar to older Bethesda titles though, so it has the best of both worlds.

What's the prognosis for Starfield mods?
No mod kit yet until next year, but Milk has done some shape mods

what is the point of making synths when robots exist?
why do you want to frick a clumsy machine?
Do people on this board make a thread for every thought they have?
The idea of synths that are indistinguishable from humans even to a medical examination is moronic. That whole topic was already chewed through to get the last bland taste out in Battlestar Galactica. Bethesda writers are hacks.

gladly
sex dolls would be a better use of synths than the shit the institute is using them for
>we murder people and replace them so we can measure what they’re doing
>it’s very important work because
>IT JUST IS OK
