Turn-based RPGs are one of the simplest games to make which is why there's approximately 80 trillion of them in existence and we really don't need any more.
Good japanese turn based RPGs are few and far between these days. A lot of them are low effort and low budget slop. There was a lot of effort put into them during the PS2 era, since everyone saw how successful DQ and FF were in terms of sales.

We have to confront a hard truth that few people seem to want to face about the Souls games, but here it is: the combat is nothing remarkable. In terms of actual complexity there's not much going on. There's not much depth, and that wouldn't be a problem, except the series has increasingly leaned on its action elements more and more as time has gone by. If you're a staunch defender of the series this is where you might be tempted to rattle off all the attack animations your favorite weapons has... It's true that there are differences in range and damage, but the effect on the enemy is usually identical. They lose some health, possibly suffer some hitstun which either lasts long enough to get another attack in or it doesn't, in which case you go back on the defensive until your next opening. Positioning is important, but that's about the extent of it. In terms of defensive options the series is a lot better, with the ability to block, parry, or dodge most regular attacks... Unfortunately, against bosses, parrying is often completely impossible and blocking is often ill-advised, which leaves you with rolling as your one and only defensive action. So prepare to roll again and again, and again and again and again. When you're not rolling you'll generally be getting 1-2 hits in with whatever weapon you choose, hits that usually provoke no response from the boss whatsoever making every weapon basically the same thing apart from whatever damage types and numbers it has. You go in, you learn the moveset. maybe you die a few times along the way, until you know the boss's moves like the back of your hand. Then you dodge past them, punish at the right times, and win the battle. It's perfectly serviceable gameplay but doing it 20x in one game is just excessive. I'm not saying you should be able to juggle Hollows or anything, but if the game is going to be so relentlessly focused on action then I have fewer reasons not to just play a better action game.

In Disco Jackboot, you would play as a group of soldiers like Commandos 2, but it would be either like MGS3 gameplay, or a turn-based system (as is my new idea), and in it you would be fighting against the Nazis in World War 2, but Hitler would want the primary character, the Irish Green Beret, to be a specimen for his Aryan program.
There are very few original stories to tell anymore, and yet there is mine.

That chapter is about the antichrist coming rather, that's how it ends, not that exact verse. We don't just read one verse out of context. The chapter starts with a description of those led astray by antichrists (like Judas, the israelites who rejected the Spirit who spoke through the prophets, etc) and as a result rejected the God of Israel and broke His covenant. It then goes into a description of the new covenent being broken by those of the nations who ends up following the future antichrist into lawlessness and disobedience and how it results in the exact same consequences.

turn-based games have always been trash. they're fine for tabletop, that's where they came from, but using them in an interactive video game is a design crutch. it was excusable in the 90s when tech was more limited but making them in current year just says you're a lazy homosexual who doesn't know how to actually make video games.
Knowing Miyazaki I could see it being more western influenced, and like the Souls games a mix of both east and west style gaming philosophies. With the gameplay being more like Last Remnant and with a story/world like Lost Odyssey.

They all grew up on Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. Most of the Souls games have roots in D&D anyways. It's all there and it won't be much to slow it it down and just throw a turn based system on it.
I think with his style From would be better suited to a FP dungeon crawler since that suits the dark fantasy style better. That said a traditional dark fantasy JRPG would actually be kinda neat and not something we have many of. I wouldn't be against it.

The JRPG is something that, in principle, should be so easy to do way better then 99.9% of the genre gameplaywise. But nobody fricking does shit and everything ends up being "attack, then heal to not die".
I went to one of those final fantasy concerts and I can confidently say that JRPGs are a genre for women. You can't make them complicated or difficult.

We have to confront a hard truth that few people seem to want to face about the Souls games, but here it is: the combat is nothing remarkable. In terms of actual complexity there's not much going on. There's not much depth, and that wouldn't be a problem, except the series has increasingly leaned on its action elements more and more as time has gone by. If you're a staunch defender of the series this is where you might be tempted to rattle off all the attack animations your favorite weapons has... It's true that there are differences in range and damage, but the effect on the enemy is usually identical. They lose some health, possibly suffer some hitstun which either lasts long enough to get another attack in or it doesn't, in which case you go back on the defensive until your next opening. Positioning is important, but that's about the extent of it. In terms of defensive options the series is a lot better, with the ability to block, parry, or dodge most regular attacks... Unfortunately, against bosses, parrying is often completely impossible and blocking is often ill-advised, which leaves you with rolling as your one and only defensive action. So prepare to roll again and again, and again and again and again. When you're not rolling you'll generally be getting 1-2 hits in with whatever weapon you choose, hits that usually provoke no response from the boss whatsoever making every weapon basically the same thing apart from whatever damage types and numbers it has. You go in, you learn the moveset. maybe you die a few times along the way, until you know the boss's moves like the back of your hand. Then you dodge past them, punish at the right times, and win the battle. It's perfectly serviceable gameplay but doing it 20x in one game is just excessive. I'm not saying you should be able to juggle Hollows or anything, but if the game is going to be so relentlessly focused on action then I have fewer reasons not to just play a better action game.

turn-based games have always been trash. they're fine for tabletop, that's where they came from, but using them in an interactive video game is a design crutch. it was excusable in the 90s when tech was more limited but making them in current year just says you're a lazy homosexual who doesn't know how to actually make video games.

They all grew up on Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. Most of the Souls games have roots in D&D anyways. It's all there and it won't be much to slow it it down and just throw a turn based system on it.
I think with his style From would be better suited to a FP dungeon crawler since that suits the dark fantasy style better. That said a traditional dark fantasy JRPG would actually be kinda neat and not something we have many of. I wouldn't be against it.

Nah action combat often ruins an rpg. Only times it has kinda worked great that comes to mind is KH2, DeS and DaS.

It makes perfect sense. Elden Ring is the pinnacle of the formula. Another game too soon would feel unnecessary especially after it got such a huge expansion.There's a distance of 7 years between Dark Souls 3 and Shadow of the Erdtree. In 5-6 years I'm sure they'll make whatever spiritual sequel to their Action RPG format, when they can implement more mechabics and ideas.
