Because BDSP is a faithful remake to flawed entries that were greatly improved with the third version
SMRPG Switch is a faithful remake to an already great game while also adding in needed QoL features.
I disagree personally, I think all faithful remakes are bad
BDSP put no effort into they toy aesthetic and it was just an excuse to be lazy. Frankly I hate when they do it in general but of the 3 examples I can think of off the top of my head SMRPG did it best and BDSP did it worse. I just wish there wasn't this need to go classic game remake = chibified graphics
I personally think smrpgmake looks about the same (bad)
Pokemon remakes had some sembalance of standards that bdsp just forgot to add, meanwhile Mario RPG had no standards to uphold so being like the original works in its favor.
M&L remakes exist so your point is moot
Thank you all for discussing with me and not making strawmen like
no, I like QoL features and expanding upon the OG game, but I think uprooting the entire formula is bad
for me, an example of a good remake is samus returns or maverick(irregular) hunter X
mario rpg was originally a cult classic on the SNES so it was praised with the switch remake. M&L remakes flopped bad because you can play the original Bowsers Inside Story on the same 3ds console
But M&L still added entire game modes, just because something will sell, doesn't mean they should not put lots of effort into it, besides, everyone and their mother can access a SNES emulator these days
Never mind, while typing I remembered most normies and non normie nintendo fans are vehemently against emulation

Anon, Nintendo fanbases in general pirate more than any other fanbase outside of the entire country of Brazil.

I don't deny that, but where I live piracy is considered bad (even if it is morally correct)

Don't be one of those morons who try to justify piracy. It's morally wrong and will always be morally wrong but who gives a shit? Do it anyway.

>explain how SMRPG is a better game than DP
Better music.
Better combat, obviously.
Better sound design.
Better style.
Better story.
It's not unbearably slow.
BDSP is a downgrade with no polish and rushed out. >TMs aren’t labeled with move names >Its actually way easier to softlock yourself thanks to using free movement in a grid based map >Its harder to navigate the map, especially oneway ledges >If you buy the game without updating it, you get crappy midi versions of the music and you can’t even access the postgame >The underground is no longer a customizable base and is instead a glorified spawn room for certain Pokemon >Still has removed moves in the game like Return and Pursuit and Hidden Power being something only Unown learns, Toxic isn’t universal, etc.
It’s a downgrade in every sense.
>If you buy the game without updating it, you get [...] midi versions of the music
What the frick why did no one tell me? This is a major bonus not a negative.
SMRPG on the Switch looks goofy, but at least looks good for what it's trying to achieve, I also heard they reviewed some areas of the game so it's not impossible to unlock stuff if you missed them during the story.
BDSP not only looks like shit, but it's worse than Platinum, arguably the original DP.
Yeah that one infamous hidden chest from the mushroom kingdom castle lobby that was originally accessible only during the scene where a toad leads you into the throne room is now accessible afterwards because there's a toad near the door you can jump on now to reach it after that scene.
Super Mario RPG was perfect, the remake just added to it.
Diamond/Pearl was flawed, had refinements from Platinum if not later games and simply regressed trying to recreate Diamond/Pearl rather than take ideas from Platinum and later Pokemon games.
Everything Mario makes is masterpiece compared to pokeshit lmao, Pokemon still has not a successful spin off like Mario even the mario movie was better lmao how embarrassing "biggest franchise" just selling the same plushies
BDSP was clearly using its artstyle as a crutch to cover for the fact the devs didn't have the time, budget, or evidently desire to spit out an actually good looking game (especially apparent by how awkward and inconsistent the game's graphics look even in spite of the extremely simple style)
whereas this game makes an active attempt to accurately adapt and expand the style without making the game look like a low budget mobile game
to say nothing of BDSP both removing content from the original and actively ignoring almost all of the positive changes from platinum on top of what it actually added into the mix being mostly mediocre
>soulless Unity engine remake >devs were involved in a couple of DQ games nobody played >homosexuals like will pretend it's nothing like ILCA or anything better than what Pokemon gotten
Trying to catch legendaries with this shit was so annoying, I wanted the false swipe Pokemon to die to safely switch to my hypnosis Pokemon, but it kept surviving somehow.
>one of the devs taking 15 minutes out of their day to give smogon teams to exactly five postgame trainers is effort according to pokemon fans
That's really sad actually
SMRPG remake also added post game rematches against bosses that are significantly harder than their main game versions. The remake also made the game extremely easy by making perfect timed hits smack the entire enemy party instead of just one guy.
Did you ever notice how in BDSP they fricked up the animations of the pokemon's eyes, so whenever they blink it's really slow and jittery? This was also never fixed in any of the thousand patches for the game.
I just thought that was interesting.
There's a giant quality gap between cheap chibishit and soulful chibishit. It comes down to how the art direction is implemented not only for the characters but for the world around them.
>postgame in pokemon
how boring
why is he hot?
This is literally just a dark fricked up version of the gen 5 genies
no it’s just generic final fantasy boss
This, his obsession with crystals is just the devs making a joke about crystals being a recurring plot device in most FF games.
>most
all as of the time the original came out
Still all
>the "Dark Knight of Vanda" shit was literally Ted Woolsey fanfiction
Localization... localization never changes...
they kept the antimater line
I don't understand how this was praised but bdsp was lauded

Let me guess, you like FF7R
why shouldn't he, it's great
BDSP are bad
VII Remake is also mediocre, luckily Rebirth seems a lot better.
no, I like QoL features and expanding upon the OG game, but I think uprooting the entire formula is bad

yeah i do because im not a miserable Gankergay who will never be happy
>because im not a miserable Gankergay
So why do you enjoy 7R?
You have to be a contrarian Gankergay to enjoy it.
nah i find it a very fun action RPG and its ironic you are accusing me of being a miserable Gankergay
That's not what irony means.
nah it does because you are acting like one
Anon, you're literally here attempting to derail a thread to defend it.
That's the epitome of miserable Gankergay.
If you really liked it you wouldn't need to defend it.
nah you just want to lash out and be a whiny gay because society has rejected you you wont be getting your support here
That's a lot of projecting on to him, anon.
nah he is
>im not a miserable Gankergay
Ironic it's fricking Ganker that eats up Remakeslop
Meanwhile, boards like /vg/ and /vr/ vehemently hate it with no end

lol, I'm going to spend time with my family
GN
>Mario fans have no standards and praise everything
You don't really know Mario fans and it shows.
All the games b***h about all sold great, they're not anything better than Pokemon Normalgays
They all lost their collective minds over the most mediocre movie of all time and attacked every reviewer who didn't like it
and that resulted Peach looking like Illumination Peach in that new game.
>"I-It won't influence the games!!!"
>people forget Koizumi is trying to push for stronk woman Peach since Odyssey.
it's ok when mario does it
explain how SMRPG is a better game than DP
yes it is. what are you gonna do about it b***hboy?

Better question is how would DP be considered a better game than SMRPG
BDSP is a downgrade with no polish and rushed out.

It’s a downgrade in every sense.
>quality of life that makes then infinitely better than OG DP by miles
>downgrade
You didn't play it.
and yet it’s still a better game than the SMRPG remake.
nah its not
Pfft, no. And I'm saying this as someone who didn't even like SMRPG in the first place.
>Toxic isn’t universal
that's a good thing
its not
>If you buy the game without updating it, you get [...] midi versions of the music
What the frick why did no one tell me? This is a major bonus not a negative.
Sinnoh is shit and praised only by people who don't play/buy the games.
SMRPG on the Switch looks goofy, but at least looks good for what it's trying to achieve, I also heard they reviewed some areas of the game so it's not impossible to unlock stuff if you missed them during the story.

moron
Mario is good, pokemon is dogshit simple
Everything Mario makes is masterpiece compared to pokeshit lmao, Pokemon still has not a successful spin off like Mario even the mario movie was better lmao how embarrassing "biggest franchise" just selling the same plushies
It's the second Mario rpg game in years, Pokemon is making the same rpg game since 1997 and it's worse and stagnant
BDSP was clearly using its artstyle as a crutch to cover for the fact the devs didn't have the time, budget, or evidently desire to spit out an actually good looking game (especially apparent by how awkward and inconsistent the game's graphics look even in spite of the extremely simple style)

SMRPG is faithful.
BDSP is not.
>soulless Unity engine remake
>devs were involved in a couple of DQ games nobody played
>homosexuals like will pretend it's nothing like ILCA or anything better than what Pokemon gotten
ILCA BAD
PIAZZA GOOD
Ignoring everything else, there was no better version of SMRPG that the remake completely ignored.
You wouldn't get it
>flawed entries
The reddit mascot is so cute, recommend me a similar Pokemon.
the elemental monkeys
Gimmighoul
Sableye
>BDSP put no effort into ...ACK!
read the entire line shilltard
>your pokemon landed a critical hit wanting to be praised!
>your pokemon avoided it with your shout!
>Being a grindgay
Trying to catch legendaries with this shit was so annoying, I wanted the false swipe Pokemon to die to safely switch to my hypnosis Pokemon, but it kept surviving somehow.

Don't tell the discord that BDSP is the best selling remake
Sex
Sex with Bowser
Me as bowser
Yikes sweetie Gamefreak cant make postgame content because they're a small indie developer.
they kept Culox? meh, i'll stick with the original then
???
WTF did you expect? Remove him? You were actually going to be happy if they removed content?
stupid c**t!
>wanting less content
Sorry it wasn't a homosexual Sephiroth cameo fujo
SMRPG remake also added post game rematches against bosses that are significantly harder than their main game versions. The remake also made the game extremely easy by making perfect timed hits smack the entire enemy party instead of just one guy.
It's called "Splash Damage" and it only happens if the timing's perfect.
>it only happens if the timing's perfect.
I did say perfect timed hits and for a lot of moves that's really easy to get.
So, basically, the game's easier when you're actually good at it?
Did you ever notice how in BDSP they fricked up the animations of the pokemon's eyes, so whenever they blink it's really slow and jittery? This was also never fixed in any of the thousand patches for the game.
I just thought that was interesting.
There's a giant quality gap between cheap chibishit and soulful chibishit. It comes down to how the art direction is implemented not only for the characters but for the world around them.
exactly the modeling and shading for BDSP is the kind of shit i would expect to see from those shitty mobile game farming simulators
>Unity
Literally ILCA
Can Culex kill Rhydon?
Also, Punchinello is better.
