>Who's this wider audience?
This usually means they were aiming for like 14-28 age range and got primarily only like, either the younger half or the other half and are saying "ok we tried to do something and fricked it up so we're gonna try to do that thing again but in a different way that hopefully works better"
some imaginary audience that plays every single type of video game, the imaginary ideal consoomer that consists entirely of data processing, the type that this atrocity would appeal to (nobody, yet apparently also everybody according to research)
One is unironically more likely to create a good esports game by actually trying to focus on an entertaining casual experience and develop it than suddenly deciding to instantly gain esports appeal. Unless its a genuine cashgrab that expects to die within a few months
I actually legitimately enjoyed Heroes of the Storm until this mindset killed it. MOBA with a rare niche of being the perfect casual game of the genre killed by forcing competitive esports autism on it.
Does anyone else think torturing ducklings would be insanely satisfying? Think about how fun it would be to cut off their bills or rip off their fur. Or shove batteries down their throats.
>The core audience who bought our last game will 100% buy our game >Let's market exclusively to people who didn't because clearly they just didn't know about it last time >Wtf, our fans didn't buy our game because they're pissed we ignored them and the people who didn't buy our last game still haven't bought our game >How could we have possibly predicted this?
>games sell 10 million units on 1 fricking platform >NOOOO IT'S NOT ENOUGH, WE NEED A WIDER AUDIENCE >wider audience doesn't care, fans abandon ship, series is ruined.
great job 343
Is that a real picture from 343? >Help new players find success
I hate how globohomosexual corps use this sort of sanitary language when dealing with games, which are supposed to be fun, not help people "find success"
These are brainwashed idiots who think putting more minorities in media is going to bring about world peace and is therefore more important than good game design.

Things only get worse. When I was a dumb teenager playing Halo 3 I was excited for all the new stuff that might come around in the future. Now we have 343 and the Halo show. I would be disappointed if I still cared.
I remember talking with my freind as a kid about what might happen with the franchise. Arbiter focused spin off, new cool aliens, maybe something about fighting ONI, something with space combat.
We were naïve and hopeful. I try not to let it get to me too much but I get nostalgic. Entertainment today blows. All of it. Music is all Black rapshit, games are corporate trash that appeal to normies and gays or indieshit with a few gems. Movies and shows are almost entirely worthless trash. It's a shame.
>that pic
You know what really bugs me? That I have to read webcomics look for other tiny independent projects to see cool aliens that I'm not getting from these multi million dollar projects.
>Is that a real picture from 343?
yes, they showed it in a conference about Halo 4 development I think, but I don't remember if it was at an E3 or something smaller.
Frank O'Connor was a forum moderator during the first trilogy, he wrote the moronic Halo 3 terminals, then got promoted to lead writer for Reach, and now is one of the leaders of 343.
343 is literally made of people who hate Halo and people who where in the mere vicinity of real Halo devs.
Frank, Bonnie and Kiki are executive producers of the TV show.
For Halo 5 they asked some fans to help them and they still shat out a shit game. For Infinite they had 6 years, 500 millions, and Staten, and still fricked up.
343 Industries is the worst dev studio ever and absolutely no-one could ever convince me otherwise. They are far beyond incompetence, they set a new standard for mediocrity.
They fricked up 3 main games in a row, and a collection of ports (2 times !), and raped the Halo lore and universe as well and multiple times.
If you're looking for a cursed pilosopher stone, something that transforms gold into shit, there is 343 Industries.
>bomberman act zero >ace combat assault horizon >DmC: Devil May Cry >hitman absolution >dead rising 4 >resident evil 6 >dead space 3
All commercial failures or tanked fan goodwill to the point that people wanted the company to outright fail. Any other cowadooty-ized entries I missed?
Silent Hill did this. Company desperately tried to make it into mainstream when it was never mainstream material in the first place. Now you have games that long time fans are either indifferent to or outright hate
Okay this is one I kinda have to disagree with. Everyone either remembers or has been told that 2 was a classic without ever playing or learning about 1. So when almost every other game in the series is a sequel to 1 and not 2 people got confused and angry.
SH was never big. It enjoyed a dedicated fanbase and special spots on forums and magazines because it was a take on fear which most survival horrors didn't explore. >Everyone either remembers or has been told that 2 was a classic
Since when though? Most people that actually was there will tell you that their favorite was 1 or 3. 2 at the time was popular but it also had people point out it's fair share of problems. People wouldn't shut up about the plot twist and ended up giving devs a wrong idea of what the games were about. After Origins every game attempted to be about what SH2 was when SH2 was the odd one out in the original 4. >So when almost every other game in the series is a sequel to 1
Only 3 is a sequel to 1. Origins is a prequel. The other games attempt to tell stories that use the "series" overarching mythos, with varying degrees of success.
>Since when though?
A looooong time dude. >People wouldn't shut up about the plot twist and ended up giving devs a wrong idea of what the games were about.
Exactly >Only 3 is a sequel to 1. Origins is a prequel. The other games attempt to tell stories that use the "series" overarching mythos, with varying degrees of success.
I should have said follow-up not sequel. Most of the later games followed the theme of spooky cult with spooky gods in spooky town and not "Spooky town teaches you a lot emotional lesson"
The worst possible thing is when the attempt to reach a wider audience by destroying the series is wildly successful and attempting to discuss or compare the newer games to the older ones is met with nothing but shitposting
It always means women, trannies and colored people. But honestly colored people are the main consoomers of vidya anyway so Idk wtf they mean about that
No they still want the old fans to buy it and they want to wrangle in new fans too. Sad thing is a lot of the time old fans are such consoomer homosexuals that they'll buy it anyway despite it being shit that's nothing like the previous games in the series.
fat people
my exact thoughts
people who dont like videogames
people that dont like videogames AND screeched on twitter about what was "wrong" with the original.
The people that DIDN'T make the first game a success. Thanks devs.
the chinese
women. It's always women

Did this game suck as much as it looked like it did?
qrd me on this game, whats so bad about it?

troons, toons, and platoons
No idea, I don't even remember games that did that. Dragon Age and Mass Effect maybe? The audience seemed mostly the same for those entries.
i bet if they made a game like Stray but with a duck it would be just as successful
>"we're putting a lot of focus in esports"
RIP Dissidia
I actually legitimately enjoyed Heroes of the Storm until this mindset killed it. MOBA with a rare niche of being the perfect casual game of the genre killed by forcing competitive esports autism on it.
Normalgays/NPCs
The people who didn't like the game meaning it's going to be a sequel in ™ only.
Probably Americans.
They want to sell their sequel to those who didn't play the first one
has it ever happened that devs said they don't care about wide appeal and are focusing solely on fans of the series?
Sonic Mania
Inti
People who never bought or ever cared for their games.
The game is being made for them now. Frick you.
(You), you fricking casual

Pajeets/asiatics/Beaners who can give them 500 million sales without a second thought
People who didn't play and aren't interested in the first game.

Armored Core Last Raven
it wasn't explicitly said, but it shows. It's a game for hardcore (autistic) fans and no one else.
Any game that tries to "reach a wider audience" doesn't deserve whatever audience it had to begin with, much less a wider one.
Get this pic of me off the Internet. Frick you homosexuals.
