This usually means they were aiming for like 14-28 age range and got primarily only like, either the younger half or the other half and are saying "ok we tried to do something and fricked it up so we're gonna try to do that thing again but in a different way that hopefully works better"

some imaginary audience that plays every single type of video game, the imaginary ideal consoomer that consists entirely of data processing, the type that this atrocity would appeal to (nobody, yet apparently also everybody according to research)

      >"we're putting a lot of focus in esports"

One is unironically more likely to create a good esports game by actually trying to focus on an entertaining casual experience and develop it than suddenly deciding to instantly gain esports appeal. Unless its a genuine cashgrab that expects to die within a few months

I actually legitimately enjoyed Heroes of the Storm until this mindset killed it. MOBA with a rare niche of being the perfect casual game of the genre killed by forcing competitive esports autism on it.

Things only get worse. When I was a dumb teenager playing Halo 3 I was excited for all the new stuff that might come around in the future. Now we have 343 and the Halo show. I would be disappointed if I still cared.

I remember talking with my freind as a kid about what might happen with the franchise. Arbiter focused spin off, new cool aliens, maybe something about fighting ONI, something with space combat.

We were naïve and hopeful. I try not to let it get to me too much but I get nostalgic. Entertainment today blows. All of it. Music is all Black rapshit, games are corporate trash that appeal to normies and gays or indieshit with a few gems. Movies and shows are almost entirely worthless trash. It's a shame.

        >Is that a real picture from 343?
yes, they showed it in a conference about Halo 4 development I think, but I don't remember if it was at an E3 or something smaller.
Frank O'Connor was a forum moderator during the first trilogy, he wrote the moronic Halo 3 terminals, then got promoted to lead writer for Reach, and now is one of the leaders of 343.
343 is literally made of people who hate Halo and people who where in the mere vicinity of real Halo devs.
Frank, Bonnie and Kiki are executive producers of the TV show.
For Halo 5 they asked some fans to help them and they still shat out a shit game. For Infinite they had 6 years, 500 millions, and Staten, and still fricked up.
343 Industries is the worst dev studio ever and absolutely no-one could ever convince me otherwise. They are far beyond incompetence, they set a new standard for mediocrity.
They fricked up 3 main games in a row, and a collection of ports (2 times !), and raped the Halo lore and universe as well and multiple times.
If you're looking for a cursed pilosopher stone, something that transforms gold into shit, there is 343 Industries.

Okay this is one I kinda have to disagree with. Everyone either remembers or has been told that 2 was a classic without ever playing or learning about 1. So when almost every other game in the series is a sequel to 1 and not 2 people got confused and angry.

        Anonymous

SH was never big. It enjoyed a dedicated fanbase and special spots on forums and magazines because it was a take on fear which most survival horrors didn't explore.
        >Everyone either remembers or has been told that 2 was a classic
Since when though? Most people that actually was there will tell you that their favorite was 1 or 3. 2 at the time was popular but it also had people point out it's fair share of problems. People wouldn't shut up about the plot twist and ended up giving devs a wrong idea of what the games were about. After Origins every game attempted to be about what SH2 was when SH2 was the odd one out in the original 4.
        >So when almost every other game in the series is a sequel to 1
Only 3 is a sequel to 1. Origins is a prequel. The other games attempt to tell stories that use the "series" overarching mythos, with varying degrees of success.

          Exactly
          >Only 3 is a sequel to 1. Origins is a prequel. The other games attempt to tell stories that use the "series" overarching mythos, with varying degrees of success.
I should have said follow-up not sequel. Most of the later games followed the theme of spooky cult with spooky gods in spooky town and not "Spooky town teaches you a lot emotional lesson"
