Dragon's Lair is basically all QTEs with different scenes for failing each, an extremely soulful game. The only thing that could have made it more soulful is instead of trying to save that prostitute Daphne, he was trying to obtain the empire carpet blunt from /ourguy/ Lynn Hauldren.
The Metal Gear series is probably the best example of that “soulful” game mechanics, to the point where it’s sort of ridiculous that anyone even found some of them or that they would program it in the first place.
QTEs can be used well, though. KH2 is a particularly good example.
Bayonetta is a fricking awful example, though. They're okay in Bayo 2 since they're mostly just relegated to end-of-boss "mash for bonus points" sections though. Kind of like a pinball scoring event.
That has literally never happened in a video game

>>That has literally never happened in a video >game
>he hands you the empire carpet blunt
>you fail the QTE to catch it
>every cutscene in re4 with a qte technically ends with leon dying horrible every time
this freaks me out more than it probably should

Only game that I can think of is RE4. Maybe asura's wrath since QTE's are it's gimmick but never played it
I like "enemies have a unique kill animation" myself
There hasn’t been a soulful game in years, the AAA market has made sure of that.
The Wonderful 101
Is Empire Carpet still in business?
