Hogwarts is a Ubislop type game but it definitely should be above Spider-goy 2 imo. SG2 felt like a remastered version of the first game, not an actual sequel.
I never said the quality or fun factor was bad. I'm not even necessarily opposed to remakes winning goty, but I'd rather see games built from the ground up get nominated where possible. It's analogous to designing/engineering a completely new piece of tech while referencing existing works vs. taking a solution that already exists and improving upon it. Both are valid, but in my opinion completely new works are more deserving than a new iteration.

The game itself was, but the plot points, the areas, the characters, dialogue, etc. was created a long time ago and only had to be adapted. Recreating all of that stuff properly and improving it is definitely a lot of work too, but having what is essentially a finished plan laid out for you before you spend a dime on development is less impressive to me than creating a game entirely from scratch.

Spider-Man 2 actually has decent gameplay, even if the story itself is bland.
Both games do a decent job in making you feel like you're part of that franchise's world though, and they're great games for audiences who like that franchise (I know some will disagree on SM2 because of culture war stuff, but again, the gameplay does a great job with doing spider-man shit)

The level design and narrative structure are low effort, this means combat is the only thing carrying it.
The combat of AC6 has been ruthlessly torn apart, even on Ganker, for being overly simplistic despite the variety in weapons. Again, this might be fine if the bosses were engaging. However, as far as combatively engaging bosses go, there's the Final Bosses, Balteus, and Ibis.
Make an Armored Core game with more interesting locales, more unique bosses like Balteus, commit to interesting narrative branches instead of diluting them with irrelevant or uncool missions, then it will win GOTY.

AC6 only has combat going for it, and its combat isn't that great. That's why it doesn't deserve GOTY.
Mario Wonder's environmental traversal and gameplay interactions have far more detail and novelty than anything in AC6. AC6 is mostly pick the ideal weapon and then go full dacka. This is ideal in a game with diverse bosses with special move sets, but the best bosses are Ibis, Balteus, and the chapter end bosses, other than that, the bosses have minimal impact or relevancy. The AC bosses are child's play.
The art design also blows AC6 out of the water. Yes, it's just a Nintendo game for kids, and not my thing, but this is undeniable.
It's not that Mario Wonder is special, it's that AC6 isn't SPECIAL ENOUGH.
AC6 has 3 story paths, one of which is tacked on and irrelevant, meanwhile the other 2 give the player the bare minimum of information to understand until the last chapter. I was fully aware of these story elements, but a non-autist wouldn't pick up the relevant details I picked up by chance.

AC6 is literally the best mecha game in fricking AGES, revived a series that was dormant for a whole decade (and did so without completely destroying everything about AC as a series), and is basically a mecha wet dream. CoH3 has a great foundation with its 4 factions and battlegroup system replacing CoH2’s commanders but it came out so blatantly unfinished it shouldn’t even be considered. A lot of 2023 games are good but not quite good enough to be GOTYs. It's oversaturated in the 7-8.5/10 range, and has no real 10/10 that would compete with previous GOTYs.

Hogwarts isn't a god tier game in any sense, but it definitely deserves a nomination over garbage like Spider Man 2. I would be okay with it replacing RE4 as well since it's a remake.
Hogwarts is a Ubislop type game but it definitely should be above Spider-goy 2 imo. SG2 felt like a remastered version of the first game, not an actual sequel.

It's analogous to designing/engineering a completely new piece of tech while referencing existing works vs. taking a solution that already exists and improving upon it. Both are valid, but in my opinion completely new works are more deserving than a new iteration.

The game itself was, but the plot points, the areas, the characters, dialogue, etc. was created a long time ago and only had to be adapted. Recreating all of that stuff properly and improving it is definitely a lot of work too, but having what is essentially a finished plan laid out for you before you spend a dime on development is less impressive to me than creating a game entirely from scratch.

I've never played a full Nintendo game or owned a Switch. AC6 isn't GOTY yet, it's just a starting point. I'll give you an example: Does AC6 deserve to stand on a podium with Elden Ring , God of War (2019), The Last of Us, or Sekiro? Frick no.

The combat of AC6 has been ruthlessly torn apart, even on Ganker, for being overly simplistic despite the variety in weapons. Again, this might be fine if the bosses were engaging. However, as far as combatively engaging bosses go, there's the Final Bosses, Balteus, and Ibis.
Make an Armored Core game with more interesting locales, more unique bosses like Balteus, commit to interesting narrative branches instead of diluting them with irrelevant or uncool missions, then it will win GOTY.

Mario Wonder's environmental traversal and gameplay interactions have far more detail and novelty than anything in AC6. AC6 is mostly pick the ideal weapon and then go full dacka. This is ideal in a game with diverse bosses with special move sets, but the best bosses are Ibis, Balteus, and the chapter end bosses, other than that, the bosses have minimal impact or relevancy. The AC bosses are child's play.
The art design also blows AC6 out of the water. Yes, it's just a Nintendo game for kids, and not my thing, but this is undeniable.
It's not that Mario Wonder is special, it's that AC6 isn't SPECIAL ENOUGH.
AC6 has 3 story paths, one of which is tacked on and irrelevant, meanwhile the other 2 give the player the bare minimum of information to understand until the last chapter. I was fully aware of these story elements, but a non-autist wouldn't pick up the relevant details I picked up by chance.
You're really just proving you have a Nintendo bias here. Mario Wonder is quite literally just another 2D Mario game but with a new coat of paint. Said coat of paint only really looks good because they just copy and pasted NSMB over and over again for so long. Wonder is, quite literally, nothing more then another 2D Mario game and not really anything else.
AC6 is literally the best mecha game in fricking AGES, revived a series that was dormant for a whole decade (and did so without completely destroying everything about AC as a series), and is basically a mecha wet dream. If you think its "low effort" you clearly just don't care for mecha in general, or as you've clearly have been showing, just have a bias for Nintendo products.

My expectations lower every year and I still end up disappointed.
Baldur's Gate 3 or Zelda will win everything and that'll be the end of it.
AW2 doesn't have any cinematic music, it's basically 50% rock stuff and a variety of other genres.
