The wolves are annoying not difficult. I don't know why you can't just drive past the bears, it's not like you have to fight one them more than once. And the toughest enemies are objectively the roided out zombies.

How is the map unintuitive? Its simple as frick, put marker, you even get a GPS trail. Major events are marked clear as day.
The map is too big and traveling from one place to another takes too long and you run out of gas. Forcing me to search for gas then memorize the locations of gas is bullshit. It's forcing me to "explore" when I don't want to. Basically artificial exploration.
Gas cans are practically in every camp you clear out, gas stations are marked on the map. You can also upgrade your gas tank for more mileage. This isn’t an issue.
And you can fast travel, forgot to mention.
Mate there's infinite gas at the stations and there's red little gas cans littered everywhere.
Remember to conserve gas early on by not accelerating downhill and just let it roll and later in the game you'll be wondering if your gas tank ever runs out.
