Played this a few years ago when it was in very early access. Maximum road and logistics autism. They recently started the terraforming update. It looks like it's about to be released.
Plan B: Terraform looks like a neat low-poly dyson-sphere program. The scale of the game is massive which makes up for the mediocre low-poly graphics. I haven't played it but it looks promising.
Planetbase
Do you even terraform in that one? I played it like 6 years ago and I just remember living in bubble domes.
Yeah it's just a base builder. Is that much different from Surviving Mars though? I didn't play it that long, but I don't recall there being anything like actual terraforming in it either.
Not much different. You just have tubes instead of domes and less content overall.
There's this but I haven't played it so I don't know if it's any good:

It's like a Factorio for kids. Entertaining but not too deep.
>factorio
actually, this is more of a transport tycoon than factorio, yes the factorio part is very simple but the big focus here is the transport of resource from one side of the planet to another, the cities here work exact like the old school transport tycoon, they are basic mouths you feed with resources and as they grow you need to adapt the transport of new resources while also avoiding jamming the traffic
Perimeter
not nessicarily "strategy" more sim and puzzle

I fricking miss SimEarth, anons.
getting my lava world to finally cool down and life to emerge made me feel like an actual god as a kid
You miss it? What's stopping you from playing it?
Aurora 4x has an amazing terraforming system, just saying
>Planet occupied and fortified by Xenos? park an orbital terraformer and start pumping poisonous atmosphere.
>Planet is inhospitable to human
Terraform it with highly detailed atmospheric composition
it's a shame it's hobbled by its autistic dev who doesn't want to see it find its true potential
you need to be like, seriously, seriously autistic to enjoy Aurora
>it's a shame it's hobbled by its autistic dev who doesn't want to see it find its true potential
his vision, his game, his rules. no one is stopping you from making your own aurora 4x clone with your vision.
>you need to be like, seriously, seriously autistic to enjoy Aurora
Thanks you? I suppose.
Plan B: terraform just got into early access this week, it's pretty fun. It's a bit of a mix between Transport Tycoon and factorio. It's a bit lacking in late game content but that is the first thing the dev wants to work on.
I hear it's like Factorio for kids.
It's like factorio where you don't have to deal with logistics for buildings. Once you assemble a building in a factory, it just adds to your global stockpile of buildings which you can place or remove instantly, anywhere.
You also don't need to deal with electricity.
In a good way
Of course it's simpler. It's only like factorio in the sense that factories work like black boxes with an input and an output. As the game moves on you have to move arround more of those outputs. The game is a bit like transport tycoon because some of those outputs need to be fed into settlements to make them grow. Sure the game is simple, but it's fun.
bump
I liked conquering, terraforming, stripping resources off of, and blowing up islands like an evil tycoon in Driftland. Otherwise not such a great game. I thought it looked rather pretty, tho.
Farlanders came out recently and it's a pretty comfy 2D turn-based Mars colony sim. There's plenty of terraforming there, including underground
Looks like Sim City 2000 in space, which is great.
