Pro Tip: You can now pickle mushrooms, while its not amazing with common shrooms, if you are getting Morels or Purples from your logs(which you should be using) they make a really really good amount of money completely passively.

I dabbled with hacking the patched version of MTV a few months back to customize some of the scripts (e.g. integrating Jas portraits), and learned a good bit of how patcher stuff works reading through all of the mod jsons.
Several of the dependencies have official or unofficial patched versions on 1.6 now. Event Repeater, Mobile Phone, etc. DGA is apparently base functionality in Content Patcher too.
I sifted through 1.5 Jas mod and found that except for things like TPPK and NPC Adventures much of it still works. A few broken scripts with the same kinds of errors you got there, though, which hang events so you gotta skip past after they lock up.
Beebz 1.5 loaded fine, probably has some of the same kinds of script errors in events. Ashley & Spooky have an actual mod in it and map patches, so I didn't try loading it; your standalone version mod I tried before it and gave up after banging my head against WizardHouse tilesheet errors that were beyond my understanding.

That was the first thing I fixed, as well as redesigning her room for the souped up tower interior. I'll still have to grab other existing mods (and hope they're not split into a gorillion .jsons like they love to do) since I can't wrap my mind around the wiki migration page at all. There are a few basic examples like a copypastable set for the new dispositions, only to have absolutely nothing for more complex entries besides "this uses a model with these fields". I also have to wonder how much people are struggling with this because there are almost zero updated NPC mods on Nexus despite months of prep time.
Good to hear. Yeah, my experience has been much the same. The documentation seems to really gloss over anything but the simplest possible use cases. Programmers tend to suck at documentation, unfortunately.
It started out well with a layout like that, but then I sort of started adding the random small sprinklers and planting crops around them. Luckily it's all fixed now but I just wanted to share the atrocity that it has become for a while.

It totally is but if you like the base game it's kinda worth it because the FRICK OFF HUGE Farm is kinda nice to experience.
Day 1 of each season is death for any minmaxer, I have 9 Junimo fields to tend, all the fricking kegs, gramps shed etc. you can do anything you ever wanted without space constraints. Also more cellar for even more fricking money.
If for you it's not the farm, the added "content" is kinda dumb. Butterfish, Catfish... yea. The mines are the old mines but farther away, the island didn't change, but there's a new desert for people who REALLY like the combat in this. Exciting for a moment but immediately a grindfest which should've been another game entirely.
If you like putting things in kegs, try it. If you like stardew for the whole package it can be a bit shitty, but a lot of nice ideas come from here.

The only mod I used is the UI Info Suite 2 for sell prices (without buying the book) and other qol stuff like showing scarecrow areas, which is just info that you could look up anyway and that offers no real gameplay advantages.
That being said, as was already pointed out, you can do way better if you want to try really hard. While I tried my best, I didn't really plan things out too much, didn't reset and also didn't do shit like clayfarming or animation canceling since that feels like cheating and makes rushing the skull cavern in particular super busted.
How do you earn that much bank in 1 year? Kegs?
Yeah, I started planting and tapping oak trees as early as I could, and mid winter I had enough kegs to instantly process all ~820 starfruit that I'm getting per batch. Spring was potatoes + strawberries while getting as many sprinklers as possible, summer was blueberries while getting the island farm started with starfruit, fall was cranberries (+ starfruit) and winter was winter seeds (+ starfruit). I doubt it's optimal, but it's straightforward and good enough for me.

Chair-trick into Secret Woods from Day 1 for more forageables, get every forageable on the map, cutting down trees like a beaver on PCP (planting as many as you can on top of that).

was turn all the winter roots from farming the ice levels of the mines into winter seeds, grow them in the greenhouse and island to have ~1000 seeds ready for winter so after the first harvest there were enough seeds for the whole farm. Winter seeds are surprisingly profitable, but harvesting forage from wild seeds also gives you 2 foraging exp (used to be 7 even before the update) so when you're growing thousands of them you'll quickly reach level 10.
nah, I also have like 30 trees on the farm tapped for acorn syrup and as soon as I get the Quarry I plant another forest just for wood. What else do you do with all the tree drops? You ALWAYS need more wood, those kegs aren't gonna build themselves.
Chop the stumps in the secret woods every single day because they're each worth more than two full trees of exp. Also have a small patch of wild seeds grow on the farm.

Mushroom logs are 100% better than shroom cave and you can craft them super fricking early, I have like 15 on my farm and they are amazing passive energy and money.
Stardew Valley is probably the most depressing game I ever played. Everything that was out of reach for me irl was so easily, effortlessly achievable in game.
He's a hoe that can't commit and she clearly wants a man, not someone that hides. Farmer + rancher. Also your argument can be used to everyone else that people want mods for but you're silent on--actually even 'worse' as those are married.
I'm a totally inefficient scrub unaware of the meta but I like growing as many hops as possible in summer and just fermenting that shit all year as you build more and more casks. I think wine can be more efficient but beer brews way faster and my brain likes the more frequent stimulation
Catfishing is the best money you can make in the first few days but it's really tough, if you haven't played in a while and you aren't VERY confident with the fishing minigame I wouldn't try it.
You can still make good money fishing other stuff that you can reasonably catch with a low fishing level. Days 2-4 you should focus on getting your fishing level up (buy the Training Rod from Willy for the first few levels, it makes it much easier to get a Perfect Catch which gives a ton of bonus XP), making enough money from your catch to buy the Fiberglass Rod and some bait, and then earning money for new seeds once your Parsnips come in on Day 5. If you get a lot of cash to spare, like if you got a Diamond from a treasure chest, getting the backpack upgrade from Pierre is also really nice.

Iridium quality large eggs feel like such a waste considering mayonaise doesn't give a shit what quality they are.
But they do make for good gifts I suppose, since they're liked by a lot of people and iridium is a 1.5x multiplier.
Well, basically on the new farm you get two chimkens right away, and it's pretty easy to scrounge up the 1.6k for another two. Within a couple days. From that, mayo will get you over 1k per day, more when you get to higher hearts with the chimkens. It's pretty easy to set up a barn with four cows before the season is over. Give ranching a real try. It's pretty good. I was able to end the season with a full barn and coop, a few upgraded tools, and 10k in pocket. I had 40 strawbs, tho, so they obviously pulled weight, but I go those strawbs mostly through the animals. I hardly fished at all beyond the CC requirements

Did any of the recolor mods fully update yet? Thinking about playing again- vanilla, no extra 100 fricking fish from mods- but the yellow dirt is still eye searing.
It's way too goddamn bloated. It has loads of good changes like the new ranching profession that lets you befriend animals quicker and sell them for huge amounts (also they're born with a few hearts already), but then you have to carefully go through the settings every single time it updates which is extremely often because it's a buggy mess (to the point it was temporarily removed by the Nexus mods due to a memory leak before the author got pissed and took it down). I also had an unfixable bug with it which brought down my iridium truffle profit to their non-iridium values which absolutely killed my no-farming run, but I can't 100% say for sure if it's due to MARGO or not.

The only cheaty one is Eidee Easy Fishing which I use to both skip the minigame and the need to press the catch button. But the quality of life is immense. Also I've already completed fishing only playthroughs so I did my share of the fishing minigame, not gonna bother with that shit anymore.
It just adds one extra row in the inventory for the price of 50k.
Also I just realized that expanded storage is not a mod in itself, just an api that better chests used, but I don't use that mod anymore because the color picker is bugged

Everything is weirdly arranged in SVE, some of the flowers and fruits are entirely found in different locations and there are new areas that add entirely new seeds and forageables which is even more bullshit if you're going for perfection.
1.6 now allows you to mark custom items as not needed for perfection, but I really doubt such a self-centered mod that makes breaking changes for nearly every vanilla map in the game would just do that.

Neptune's Glaive feels way stronger than its level indicates. Obsidian Edge is still better, but the Glaive was the first real weapon I found until I got OE.

Planning on getting pigs eventually but I'm pretty strapped for cash since I'm backed up on crops waiting to get processed, I've got literally a thousand Cranberries sitting in a chest waiting to get jarred. I've also been struggling to hit Level 10 Foraging which is somehow the last skill I need, I guess I was slacking on Secret Woods runs but I can't believe how long it's taking to catch up.

There were a couple times I went in and some of them were grumpy with the food missing, so I assumed that it wasnt working (there was pleanty of hay in the silos) maybe they were just grumpy for another reason

because I'm "at work" (moronic) and didn't wanna start the game right now
turns out I knew how to do that in 2019 apparently, have an updated one. No crops because done with money (24M I checked) and the Island and greenhouse are full of ancients.
The shed with the watering can on the left is my living cropdex so I always have everything grown if needed, some strawberries if I ever need something to grow in spring and fast, new shed being built is for animal stuff which accumulated (close to just deleting the animals), the random-ass looking sheds right in front of the house WERE color-coded with what's in them, now it's all ancientfruit for obvious reasons. damn sprinklers are pretty damn expensive for a first timer like me. was never a dungeon hunting type but now ig I have to mine ore and reach 50 lvl underground asap because it's already 12th of summer. the basic sprinkler concept is moronic and if I use them,they will destroy the design of my field and make it look ugly . And I was never quite sure how the seed maker works. It produces seeds for the produce you feed it, but you need the produce in the first place, and how do you get it without fricking buying the seeds first?

Pro Tip: You can now pickle mushrooms, while its not amazing with common shrooms, if you are getting Morels or Purples from your logs(which you should be using) they make a really really good amount of money completely passively.

I dabbled with hacking the patched version of MTV a few months back to customize some of the scripts (e.g. integrating Jas portraits), and learned a good bit of how patcher stuff works reading through all of the mod jsons.
Several of the dependencies have official or unofficial patched versions on 1.6 now. Event Repeater, Mobile Phone, etc. DGA is apparently base functionality in Content Patcher too.
I sifted through 1.5 Jas mod and found that except for things like TPPK and NPC Adventures much of it still works. A few broken scripts with the same kinds of errors you got there, though, which hang events so you gotta skip past after they lock up.
Beebz 1.5 loaded fine, probably has some of the same kinds of script errors in events. Ashley & Spooky have an actual mod in it and map patches, so I didn't try loading it; your standalone version mod I tried before it and gave up after banging my head against WizardHouse tilesheet errors that were beyond my understanding.

That was the first thing I fixed, as well as redesigning her room for the souped up tower interior. I'll still have to grab other existing mods (and hope they're not split into a gorillion .jsons like they love to do) since I can't wrap my mind around the wiki migration page at all. There are a few basic examples like a copypastable set for the new dispositions, only to have absolutely nothing for more complex entries besides "this uses a model with these fields". I also have to wonder how much people are struggling with this because there are almost zero updated NPC mods on Nexus despite months of prep time.
Good to hear. Yeah, my experience has been much the same. The documentation seems to really gloss over anything but the simplest possible use cases. Programmers tend to suck at documentation, unfortunately.

Day 1 of each season is death for any minmaxer, I have 9 Junimo fields to tend, all the fricking kegs, gramps shed etc. you can do anything you ever wanted without space constraints. Also more cellar for even more fricking money.
If for you it's not the farm, the added "content" is kinda dumb. Butterfish, Catfish... yea. The mines are the old mines but farther away, the island didn't change, but there's a new desert for people who REALLY like the combat in this. Exciting for a moment but immediately a grindfest which should've been another game entirely.
If you like putting things in kegs, try it. If you like stardew for the whole package it can be a bit shitty, but a lot of nice ideas come from here.

Well that's disappointing.
The only mod I used is the UI Info Suite 2 for sell prices (without buying the book) and other qol stuff like showing scarecrow areas, which is just info that you could look up anyway and that offers no real gameplay advantages.
That being said, as was already pointed out, you can do way better if you want to try really hard. While I tried my best, I didn't really plan things out too much, didn't reset and also didn't do shit like clayfarming or animation canceling since that feels like cheating and makes rushing the skull cavern in particular super busted.
Yeah, I started planting and tapping oak trees as early as I could, and mid winter I had enough kegs to instantly process all ~820 starfruit that I'm getting per batch. Spring was potatoes + strawberries while getting as many sprinklers as possible, summer was blueberries while getting the island farm started with starfruit, fall was cranberries (+ starfruit) and winter was winter seeds (+ starfruit). I doubt it's optimal, but it's straightforward and good enough for me.
You can earn like 50 mil in year 1 without mods if you are turbo autist that is willing to reset days.

I plant a frick ton of trees and use fertilizer on them. I need both the wood and xp.
Chair-trick into Secret Woods from Day 1 for more forageables, get every forageable on the map, cutting down trees like a beaver on PCP (planting as many as you can on top of that).
What I did in this run
was turn all the winter roots from farming the ice levels of the mines into winter seeds, grow them in the greenhouse and island to have ~1000 seeds ready for winter so after the first harvest there were enough seeds for the whole farm. Winter seeds are surprisingly profitable, but harvesting forage from wild seeds also gives you 2 foraging exp (used to be 7 even before the update) so when you're growing thousands of them you'll quickly reach level 10.
nah, I also have like 30 trees on the farm tapped for acorn syrup and as soon as I get the Quarry I plant another forest just for wood. What else do you do with all the tree drops? You ALWAYS need more wood, those kegs aren't gonna build themselves.

Chop the stumps in the secret woods every single day because they're each worth more than two full trees of exp. Also have a small patch of wild seeds grow on the farm.

Mushrooms were nerfed into the dirt now that A) You can only pick them once every two days and B) the Mushroom log exists. I used to be a staunch proponent of the mushroom cave but there's no going back now. Fruits 4 lyfe.
Bats can give you high-quality fruit (with sufficient Foraging level) that would normally take years to age a tree to that point.
Mushrooms have their own dedicated cave on Ginger Island anyway, and the new Mushroom Logs let you just fricking grow them yourself.
Mushroom cave is cooler than fruit cave. Imagine how awful a fruit cave with batshit everywhere would smell.

I'm a totally inefficient scrub unaware of the meta but I like growing as many hops as possible in summer and just fermenting that shit all year as you build more and more casks. I think wine can be more efficient but beer brews way faster and my brain likes the more frequent stimulation
Catfishing is the best money you can make in the first few days but it's really tough, if you haven't played in a while and you aren't VERY confident with the fishing minigame I wouldn't try it.
You can still make good money fishing other stuff that you can reasonably catch with a low fishing level. Days 2-4 you should focus on getting your fishing level up (buy the Training Rod from Willy for the first few levels, it makes it much easier to get a Perfect Catch which gives a ton of bonus XP), making enough money from your catch to buy the Fiberglass Rod and some bait, and then earning money for new seeds once your Parsnips come in on Day 5. If you get a lot of cash to spare, like if you got a Diamond from a treasure chest, getting the backpack upgrade from Pierre is also really nice.

well you start with a coop and 2 chickens on it so you've effectively a 5k gold headstart.
Well, basically on the new farm you get two chimkens right away, and it's pretty easy to scrounge up the 1.6k for another two. Within a couple days. From that, mayo will get you over 1k per day, more when you get to higher hearts with the chimkens. It's pretty easy to set up a barn with four cows before the season is over. Give ranching a real try. It's pretty good. I was able to end the season with a full barn and coop, a few upgraded tools, and 10k in pocket. I had 40 strawbs, tho, so they obviously pulled weight, but I go those strawbs mostly through the animals. I hardly fished at all beyond the CC requirements

Is MARGO good?
It's way too goddamn bloated. It has loads of good changes like the new ranching profession that lets you befriend animals quicker and sell them for huge amounts (also they're born with a few hearts already), but then you have to carefully go through the settings every single time it updates which is extremely often because it's a buggy mess (to the point it was temporarily removed by the Nexus mods due to a memory leak before the author got pissed and took it down). I also had an unfixable bug with it which brought down my iridium truffle profit to their non-iridium values which absolutely killed my no-farming run, but I can't 100% say for sure if it's due to MARGO or not.

Planning on getting pigs eventually but I'm pretty strapped for cash since I'm backed up on crops waiting to get processed, I've got literally a thousand Cranberries sitting in a chest waiting to get jarred. I've also been struggling to hit Level 10 Foraging which is somehow the last skill I need, I guess I was slacking on Secret Woods runs but I can't believe how long it's taking to catch up.

Every time I enter my barns on a rainy day the troughs are empty. When do they get refilled? At night? Is it because the animals eat immediately at the morning so it looks like it's not working?
I think eating and refilling should happen at the same time but I'm not 100%
I have to check and see in the winter if stuff is being taken out of my silos and if my guys are happy
There were a couple times I went in and some of them were grumpy with the food missing, so I assumed that it wasnt working (there was pleanty of hay in the silos) maybe they were just grumpy for another reason

turns out I knew how to do that in 2019 apparently, have an updated one. No crops because done with money (24M I checked) and the Island and greenhouse are full of ancients.
The shed with the watering can on the left is my living cropdex so I always have everything grown if needed, some strawberries if I ever need something to grow in spring and fast, new shed being built is for animal stuff which accumulated (close to just deleting the animals), the random-ass looking sheds right in front of the house WERE color-coded with what's in them, now it's all ancientfruit for obvious reasons. I had bees once and ripped the fricking flower out one too many times, so those are gone. I play mostly on other files with friends or in concept saves like the newest one where I try the new map in an animal run, I did all the maps with their associated skills.

I think Ape nerfed sapling prices and buffed tea prices/effects because everyone was just making sapling and selling them instead of making tea since it was more profitable

anyway the bats suck now. i havent had a single piece of fruit or forage spawn in the 2 weeks since i got it, whereas before 1.6 i was getting new shit pretty regularly. very convenient way to get fruit for cc bundles

And I was never quite sure how the seed maker works. It produces seeds for the produce you feed it, but you need the produce in the first place, and how do you get it without fricking buying the seeds first?

Last played it when it came out, after following the progress on Ganker for a few years before that. Jesus you'd think it'd have a cool modding scene but from what I've seen most of the mods look quite questionable. I can't believe I was going to install that Ridgeside shit. Wouldn't say no to any cool quality of life/actually good ones though but otherwise vanilla it is, I guess. There's probably plenty of new shit compared to the release build.
if you don't want to risk cringe writing just stick to portraits of your liking, better artisan goods (kinda fixed in 1.6) and maybe NPCs on the map plus their likings in the profile which saves you wiki clicks when you actually want to interact with the idiots.

1 chest for each type of food and produce (so about 7-8 chests in total here) i'm hoarding in case of the apocalypse, or gotoro takeover
1 chest for minerals, ores and smelting that I keep in my basement
1 chest for farming, that contains equipment, fertilizers etc. I keep in the shed
1 chest for timber and misc stuff, also keep it in the basement

I fricking hate the way fences don't connect to buildings so they leave that gap. I always put my fences behind a building by 1 tile/block whatever to give the illusion that it meets the wall. here are some tips, cut all the green grass so the blue grass can expand, put some tappers on the trees, so you can get Maple Syrup and make a honey farm, its one of the second faster maker money, specially on fall, thanks to the Fairy Rose
