Goddamn it, I want to play this game so fricking bad, but Subsistance runs like shit on the fricking PS2 emulator... And I don't want to pay a ton for a ps3 or Xbox 360 for one goddamn game. The only other ps3 game I think I'd want would be Demon's Souls and Metal Gear Solid 4. So frick, I'd be in the hole like $300 at the very least. FRICK, just let me play the goddamn game!! Release it on PC like with MGS 1 and 2!! Will the original Snake Eater version run better on an emulator?

Snake Eater version will probably perform better on the moment to moment gameplay due to the camera angle forcing less stuff to be drawn.
Try out MGS3 on RPCS3 though. It performs better than PCSX2.

Does anyone know if original Snake Eater will run better than Subsistance though? I don't wanna play an hour or so into the game and find the framerate drops to the single digits in a certain area and it lags like a motherfricker. I've only ever played 1 and 2 so I have no nostalgia or care for having the camera free to use in third person like on Subsistance, though it would be nice.

Well the HD is what I'd buy, but I doubt my pc could emulate ps3 games, I can barely run PS2 games. Gamecube emulator works very well though with most games and it had better hardware than the ps2 iirc.

just buy a 2nd hand slim and use dvdboot sell it afterwards as a modded ps2
Buy a cheap second hand PS3 slim and (this is the important part) hack it.
You get the whole series on there, plus whatever PS2 games you want through mostly working software emulation. If you try hard enough you can even play a ton of PSP games on the thing.
Buy a PS2.
