Going back to Monster Hunter after playing Lost Planet 2 is painful. The lack of the Gun Sword from Lost Planet 2 being implemented as a weapon class is tedious. Can't believe people prefer this franchise

Unfortunately because of Games for Windows Live fricking up the PC release of the best entry in the series, Lost Planet 2, you will never get to play them for the foreseeable future.

Lost Planet 2 was a co-op third-person action game that featured humans shooting Alien bugs called 'akrid' on a frozen planet, harvesting akrid blood as thermal energy in order to survive. This thermal energy would function as both health and ammo/resources in combat, so it encouraged really aggressive combat. It's not like EDF where it's just swarms of thousands of bugs, there were also certain stages where you fight giant boss akrid that were colossal in size, much bigger than a rathalos in monster hunter. One example is where you fight a giant salamander akrid who can call down lightning bolts on you while you are fighting it in a storm, and you can actually get eaten by the salamander and fight it from inside its body while your allies are still fighting it normally on the outside. You could also engage in combat against bandits or criminals also trying to harvest or steal your thermal energy. The story is split in chapters as you and the entire human race on this frozen planet eventually work together to stop a giant akrid from destroying the planet, but you really are just a ragtag team of regular soldiers.

After beating the story the game's replay value is in its non-shitty gacha system. You earn credits and pick up in-game currency during stages to spend on a gachapon which gives you new weapons, cosmetics, emotes, and ways to customize your character. You cannot purchase any in-game currency with real money, and any unlockables you get are permanently removed from the loot pool, so you are always unlocking new things and you can eventually just get everything by playing.

Honestly sounds like cool. Shame about GFWL junk, are there no mods to get rid of that?

The community every few months has to come out with some new method or fix to bypass GFWL, as new windows updates usually end up breaking the old fixes, this was actually so problematic that Capcom took the ability to buy Lost Planet 2 off steam and said they were going to "fix" it, I think this was back in August, so I'm not getting my hopes up. I hope that one day either capcom fixes it or just gives it the REmake treatment and remasters it. I'd even consider a monkey's paw to the remake, like paid dlc.

Bow is leagues above in Rise
Dodge Bolt alone makes it way more fun
Shot Types are nice (but the majority of the Bows have trash shot types combinations and coating)
Absolute Power Shot adding KO is king (100% not returning in Wilds)

It just proves most gamers are drones incapable of thinking for themselves. They'll just play whatever is popular in whichever media they consume.
