Pretty good game; considering it came out in 1991 though there wasn't much of a point in templating it after the original TLoZ instead of ALttP.

What are the best games in the
>No, actually I swear, really, this is totally better than Zelda, I mean it this time
genre?
Final Fantasy Adventure.
You'd know if you actually played retro games, zoomie.
The fact that the original Zelda is better than ALttP probably had to do with it
One of the only master system games worth playing
If you don't count the other couple dozen or so. Still not that many, but there's a solid small library of quality releases in there, some of them system exclusives too.
Master System had way more than just a dozen of quality titles, its library was stellar and fun to play even today.
Aladdin
Alex Kidd in High-Teck World
Alex Kidd in Miracle World
Alex Kidd in Shinobi World
Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars
Alien Storm
Alien Syndrome
Altered Beast
Asterix
Asterix and The Great Rescue
Asterix and The Secret Mission
Ayrton Senna's Super Monaco GP 2
Aztec Adventure
Batman Returns
Bonanza Bros.
Bubble Bobble
Castle of Illusion
Deep Duck Trouble
Dynamite Headdy
Golden Axe Warrior
Land of Illusion
Legend of Illusion
Lion King
Lucky Dime Caper
Master of Darkness
New Zealand Story
Ninja Gaiden
Phantasy Star
Shinobi
Rastan
Sonic 1
Sonic 2
Sonic & Tails
Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin
Streets of Rage
Streets of Rage 2
Wonder Boy
Wonder Boy in Monster Land
Wonder Boy 3: The Dragon's Trap
I'd say that Master System has a very strong library, its main issue was having the NES as its major competitor, that's a death sentence really, but overall it did well and if you had one, either on Europe or South America, since US didn't really get many releases, you'd be well off.
You missed Forgotten Worlds. An excellent port.
Now gimme a list without portjunk.
I don't see the problem with ports, a lot of them are similar to their 16-Bit versions, a few even stand on their own or are better somehow. Also, something being a Game Gear title that was ported over in regions outside of the US doesn't mean it isn't an actual part of the library, nor that it's not a good vídeo game that many played as a kid on their Master System, it's still good.
Master System is still one of my favorite consoles to play, and there's tons of good stuff I've played on it, it's a great system.
Pretty sad list, lots of bottom of the barrel scraping and you didn't even include Zillion

Try harder or accept the fact that most of the SMS is for 3rd world trash who are used to eating shit
SMS ninja gaiden is dogshit.
Actually the tiny weapon kills it. The biggest difference between the action games we all love (zelda, castlevania) and mediocre ones is how big your main weapon is.
The weapons in the game had a point to it though. Axe could side sweep resulting in a more broad hitbox, while the sword was longer but narrower.
Actually the sword is shorter than Link's, which makes you expose your character more, which in turns makes you more vulnerable and requires more movement to hit and to avoid hits. This is one of the reasons why LoZ was the best of its kind, it's the little things.
ok but did you try use axe?
No, it's been a while though. In LoZ you get a sword which is almost as tall as your sprite which helps positioning yourself against the enemy. Whereas Castlevania your whip is usually longer. Honestly this is the greatest difference between every zeldaclone I have tested so far, and also why zelda 2 sucks. Just modding the sprite and hit detection would improve the game tenfold.
sure, but
's point is about the axe and different weapons. its like, you completely ignored the post you replied to? like wtf bro. if he brought up the axe you at least try it to see, ok maybe its got an appeal to it. maybe its not as good as sword, or just different. WHY you reply to that post or me?
Because acquiring a weapon later on doesn't fix this fundamental problem. Yes different weapons have different roles, but it is not a matter of role, it is a matter of balance. I mean you could argue "git gud" but this attitude is what makes LoZ more memorable.
You literally get the axe in the first dungeon.
>it is a matter of balance
Yeah, and the two weapons are perfectly balanced, one gives you a wide attack, the other gives you range.
Zelda 2 is one of the best games ever made. Congrats on outing yourself as a moron whose opinions on anything can only be categorically wrong.
I didn't mean to hurt your feelings, sorry.
gay contrarianism aside, i think its pretty fun too
its the only game in the entire series that had any depth to its swordplay. learning how each enemy type moved, attacked and blocked, you could then counter each of them simply by gitting gud at timing and aiming your attacks.
no other zleda game has ever rewarded the player for approaching attacking in a more nuanced way. its always just B button mashing.
meanwhile zelda 2 DEMANDED that you learn how it worked, or it would filter you
Dueling an Ironknuckle with a low ceiling (so you can't cheese your jumping stab) is still one of the most tense moments across the entire series.
You know that the longsword you get later in the game has a larger hitbox, right? Or were you too shit to even get to that point?
The way damage scaling works through the game only the most recent weapon you got can kill enemies in less than ten hits though. So the game feels great when you've just got an axe power up, but then you get a new sword and have to go around trying to stab monsters with a box cutter until your next axe power up.
>only the most recent weapon you got can kill enemies in less than ten hits though
At this point I'm convinced no one who criticizes this game has played it.
I'm sorry I didn't memorise the damage tables for a mid tier Sega game anon.
Mogs Hydilde btw
zased
This was their only good game anyways
AURA BATTLAH! DUNBINE! AURA SHOOTAH DUNBINE!!
This is actually very sad.
Sadness, like joy, fades into the sands of time
Considering Falcom makes nothing but trash the fact that they blew out T&E Soft really says something.
ill stick up for super hydlide
the music is unironically fantastic and outside of the genesis ver of shadowrun, probably the closest to a CRPG that 16bit consoles ever got
I only played the first half before I got filtered, and it was almost better than Zelda 1, but was held back by the master system's controller and over powered enemies.
