Why does every fricking item I find require a level 5+ above what I'm at? Why do all the cool legendary items require level 80+? There's no way I'm possibly playing the same character that long.
Why does every fricking item I find require a level 5+ above what I'm at? Why do all the cool legendary items require level 80+? There's no way I'm possibly playing the same character that long.
>NOOOOOO!!! I NEED MY DOPAMINE HIT!!! ITS BEEN 12.3 SECONDS ALREADY!!!
>nooo you can't criticize the pace of a game that automatically means you have adhd think of the poor producers who wanted you to play hundreds of hours to retain player counts
Why slow morons are so proud of being slow and autistic?
anyone tried the new dodge mechanic? haven't played the new patch yet. thought about repairing the bridge early in order to kite some higher level mobs.
Its good and it makes fire and forget builds like bomber demo broken against bosses
Lately I've been playing 2H nightblade. Having an actual evade seems like a massive buff. excited to check it out.
It's a good repositioning mechanic. Before I just didn't give a frick and didn't bother with moving to evade attacks. Giving the limitations of this kind of games, it is a proper addition.
but when Path of Exile 2 does it, suddenly the game is trying to be dark souls. Hmmmmmmmm
go one thread without starting shit. I dare you.
Idk, I didn't play PoE 2.
I'm not gonna play path of reddit until they show damage numbers.
like floating damage numbers when you hit things?
>path of reddit
>one of the most hardcore game
i'd say that too if i got filtered lmao
do you really want to clutter the screen even more with numbers when the game is barely visible with all the ondeath effects + delirium
between the dodge mech, movement augment for medals and blitz spam, I am basically immortal on my blitz build with this. hopping around like a sperg dodging everything is fun
Blitz build is legitimately the most fun melee shit you can do. Vire's Might spam always seemed very dull to me, but charging directly into enemies and bonking for big dick damage never gets old.
DOGSHIT Black personLOVER VICTOR VRAN KNOCKOFF
If you open yourself to insight, you are at one with insight and you can use it completely.
Quick reminder, that in steam you can switch to beta, that actually is 1.1.9.8, just like with Witcher 3. Or just pirate it.
I still haven't finished my spellbinder. I'm at like level 40. It's a good thing to get the items too early for you to use them. That way you have a few levels cushion to plan to use them.
Someone tell how to play pyromancer. I wanted to focus on chaos and fire damage but the occulist skills feel awful to use and i probably need high level items to convert vitality to fire and chaos damage. Its moronic that ive found more items that work on demo + necro than demo+occulist
It's because enemies actually use the items they drop, so once you get within a few levels of an affix breakpoint they'll often be using weapons with too high of a level requirement for you.
Depends on what skills you want to use. There are monster infrequents that convert specific skills completely, like Bloodsworn Repeaters from the gun-using cultists in the Blood Grove will convert 100% of Doom Bolt's vitality damage to chaos.
Blackwater wienertail is good shit no matter what you're building.
>I wanted to focus on chaos and fire damage
you focus on one of them not both anon.
>attack damage converted to health
>tfw 25% minimum on necro/nightblade
Are the classes from the DLCs any good?
Yes, all 3 are good.
All 3? Aren't there only 2 DLC classes?
Inquis and Necro from AoM
Shieldy-lad from FG.
i'm level 10 and i haven't found any unique mythic legendary items
*sigh*
going back to diablo immortal
>going back to diablo immortal
great! never come back here again
>going back to diablo immortal
enjoy your slop I guess?
>tfw playing demolitionist and just chaining all the different grenades together
>grim yawn

boring
b***h attack builds are king
offmeta cannot clear endgame
wrong on both. but keep being a homosexual shitter who can't into building lmao. c**t n1gger
>n1gger
Black person. Grow a pair of balls.
>anything offmeta cannot clear endgame
Even the deliberately non-viable meme shit (like my numerous summoner tanks with soldier as a base) can rather easily clear all Ultimate. If you want to do the actual endgame content like high level shards and superbosses, you obviously need something optimized - but even then the build variety is massive.
And the fact that both Ultimate and the endgame require decent equip goes without saying.
Grim Dawn 2 when???
It actually might be a thing and or coming in a few years. Maybe after the new expansion there'd be a teaser.
Or not, i don't know.
it's like a decade off. they're making an RTS that takes place in the GD universe first. They're also working on a new in house engine that said game is gonna use and will also eventually be used for GD2.
>RTS
they're actual madmen. the RTS genre died many years ago; shhh, only moba now.
>they're making an RTS that takes place in the GD universe first.
joking, right?
Nope. https://forums.crateentertainment.com/t/crates-grim-dawn-related-rts-project/109927/45
>So in terms of setting it will be a bit more Age of Empires but with some magic and fantasy units, alongside more traditional army units. In terms of gameplay feel, it will be a bit more toward SC2.
welp, sounds like they're falling into every pitfall face first
>game releases
>>ugh SOVLless why wouldn't I just play aoe/sc2???
Well anon, the owner of the company quite literally worked on AoE2 so of course an RTS they work on would be AoE-influenced.
doesn't make it a good plan
most likely, audience will take one whiff and stick their noses up
unless their behaviour changes radically soon, but aoe2 is still going strong and blizzdrones still chew on whatever blizzard excretes in front of them despite grumbling
They keep updating and expanding the original. It's basically already Grim Dawn 2 at this point when compared to the original release.
Just remake this one in an new engine. Not sure how they can expand this game or not frick it up to attract a bigger playerbase.
Even then, the game is pretty much perfect actually, even the artystyle is okay and they could frick it up in a remake. Character designs are terrible though
>Just remake this one in an new engine
You say that like it's just as easy as copy pasting. That's not how engines work. Not to mention crate is a very small team and they all work remotely from home. GD2 is coming, it's just a decade away or so. They're working on their own new in house engine already
>Tfw I'll be like 45 when GD2 will be out
I just want to play an updated version of that game, but yes I understand that's not how engine works, just wishful thinking.
Hopefully their town building game and RTS one are good and doesn't kill them, they are both hard to make and dead genre.
They also have a few guys making a survival horror game.
Apparently they said that the RTS is gonna be much cheaper to make financial wise and apparently their CEO already has experience in RTS game design.
>their CEO already has experience in RTS game design
He was so good at Age of Empires that he was hired to help make AoE2.
Please no. Later chapters in the game are fine, especially the DLC ones, but I can't stand the god awful brown swamp and ruins shit anymore
Playing the primal strike right now, never get bored of the lightning exploding all the trash and with and wendigo totem i've just facetanked every boss fight so far.
Most of my gear is trash, hardly got into devotions so still a lot more power to be found.
Can't wait for the dlc bros. I hope the new class is good
Shapeshift druid was my favourite class in d2 and not many arpgs have that playstyle for some reason.
Because it's a shit game made by shit developers.
>grim yawn
Feel free to stop shilling this shit anytime
why don't you stop breathing instead moronic homosexual
just started a warlord.
That's what I've been playing. Alternating between Forcewave and Aegis of Menhir while the other is on cooldown.
I wish Aegis had a cooldown modifier skill. I wanna spam that shit all over the place without spending hours and hours hoping for rng.
It does though? It's just baked into items
I'm level 51 and I've yet to find one
that would be the hours and hours of hoping for rng part.
if it's on monster infrequents then it's ez to get (idk about aegis though)
send the fricking grimtools for this build, this is like 1 of 5 builds that isn't just a glorified auto attack
there's quite a few builds that aren't just auto attacks though
Fevered rage pox bleed sentinel
acid sigil spam sentinel
stormbox allagast vindicator
storm totem/ravenous earth vitality ritualist
tss trozan druid
nade spam sorc
burning DoT shieldbreaker
just to name a few. all very strong in current patch
You need to make a Conduit of Divine Whispers that rolls with this image.
Getting the blueprint is rng from the forgotten gods skeleton key dungeon
Once you have that, just go ham on Aegis skills and weapons.
well that's the first step, you also need to put together a good build around it. otherwise it'll hit like a fricking pillow.
You'll be fine, vit RE oppressor are completely viable and do very well at end game if you build it right
Does going vit RE change the colour of the animation? It's such a small thing but I love it when that happens
It should. For some reason it's not on my current vit RE ritualist. But i could have sworn i've seen it be red before
it does.
RE looks kinda lewd
Are you using the conduit of divine whispers with the pierce / no cooldown modifier for aegis there?
ye
I thought so. How does the conversion work with the skybreach bulwark and scion of burning vengeance, which I'm guessing you're using? What else do you have on? I've been meaning to make aegis retaliation build for a while now.
It just werks
https://www.grimtools.com/calc/JVlozjx2
Thanks mate, I'm going to try this out later. That damage looks insane.
the damage is good for how tanky it is. but it's not gonna compete with the likes of say, belgothian infiltrator or a DW lightning savagery trickster
oh sorry, i completely missread your post. Yeah, Aegis is spammable, but it's locked behind level 94 gear.
I found a cadence/forcewave build I'm going off of. I think I can pull it off.
I'm playing a ravenous earth oppressor. I think I should have gone ritualist instead but it's been going well so far.
>Conjurer pet build with Wednigo and Dreeg
I love being immortal.
are you? go do naked 150-170 glad crucible and report back
This thing is carrying me so far. Getting so much damage for putting a single point in a passive is wild.
yeah there's a few of them like that in the early game that really make some skills shine
been wondering for a while now but what does the symbol next to the item name mean? I'm guessing it's an item with affixes suited for your class(es)?
that symbol is brand new to the game and it indicates that it is a monster infrequent item.
that is, it only drops from that specific monster.
if that's the case then how do I farm a higher level version of this specific helm
?
I assume there are Elite and Ultimate versions past a certain level.
And by that I mean by killing Milton hart, he's a quest guaranteed spawn, impossible to miss and very easy to farm.
Go kill Milton Hart in the Sodden Hollow again
and tell him I'm coming for him next
Reminder to slide autoloot radius to the max in accessibility options.
It means guaranteed drops from that specific corpse/monster.
Monster infrequent. It's a drop that only comes from specific monsters. They're kind of like uniques in that they provide special effects except they can also roll regular modifiers on top of that.
Yeah I have a level like 20 helmet that added physical damage to Shield Training and now it's impossible to ever replace with how much DPS it adds and I'm level 51 now
I have to grab one of these tonight for my early game warlord. great piece.
lol I was reading your DPS as your bottom stat and was thinking how the frick did you reach 1000 spirit at level 15
i still dont understand if each element has status effects for each element like in Path of exile and i put over 300 hours into grim dawn
They don't. They're just different damage types
All damages have a DoT except for Chaos, Piercing and Aether.
Cold and Frostbite
Lighting and Electrocute
Physical and Internal Trauma
Acid and Poison
Vitality and Vitality Decay
i tried to play this game like a couple days ago and i cant tell if its diablo 2 tier where you can frick up your build so i got overwhelmed by the menus and the shitty outdated ui that i stopped
Bro, Lazypeon just did a video where he cleared the game for characters, SSF, just putting points into the first arcanist attack, wearing what looked good and whatever he liked from devotions.
I think you're just subnormal IQ
imagine getting filtered by a game that a peak moron like lazypeon can beat
imagine knowing who that homosexual is in the first place
>i cant tell if its diablo 2 tier where you can frick up your build
You can respec anytime with the first DLC. Only thing you can't change is classes after you spec into them, but there's no unplayable class combination and anything is endgame ready.
Yours might be "suboptimal" compared to other classes in context of Shattered Realms clear speed, but that's infinite dungeon autism. Every mastery can eventually clear screen after screen of campaign and crucible baddies.
>faction reputation hard stuck because the item I need hardly ever drops outside of ultimate
can i have it to where my character swings his sword and shoots magic out of it or is it some bullshit dual class crap where i also use my hand to cast spells and can right click morons with my sword?
>can i have it to where my character swings his sword and shoots magic out of it
that's literally what primal strike does when used with a two handed melee weapon
Just put devotion spell procs on your weapon attacks.
Soldier is still too good
nothing wrong with having the noob tanky class being good, it's the same in poe with juggernaut
nah. most top tier builds don't have soldier in them. Soldier is solid, but not any more than the other masteries. Not anymore.
>Rebuild bridge in Sodden Hollow
>Still go through the tunnels
you miss out on a devotion shrine otherwise
And the sekrit undead hideout but that requires dynamite so you have to come back later if you want to see it.
>look up the speedrunning meta out of curiosity
>turns out people still haven't decided whether rebuilding the bridge is faster for the run than going through the tunnel
That extra devotion point is almost perfectly balanced compared to outright skipping the area even for speedgays. The bridge really is a trap.
I was about to ask if they could build the bridge and go in the back but it's blocked isn't it?
Damn, kudos to the map makers, that's some good design.
why does the multiplayer not work?
The meta is that you WILL end up playing multiple high-level characters of different builds because it is fun. I wish I had somebody to play GD with. I haven't touched my 2H ranged Cadence build today because I got busy reading Frieren.
>different builds
I've played 4 saboteurs and 2 purifiers with pretty much the same builds. Still had fun.
>The meta is that you WILL end up playing multiple high-level characters of different builds because it is fun.
Because literally nothing is more fun than infusing your normal grenade AoE skill with eldritch energies that let it shoots out 11 phantom falcon
OR
Making your skelebros summon frickload of meteors by just whacking their blade on enemies. Seriously, the dude who designed constellation should get a raise.
I wonder how much they regret not turning this into a seasonal based game. They could have made so much fricking money.
Why would they? They're a small team and that wasn't ever their goal. And they're doing fine financial wise. I'd rather they just keep doing their thing instead of turning into a souless chink wienersucking team like GGG did.
good, it doesn't need seasonal bloatslop like poe
>calling anything bloat when grim dawn items are the way they are
>1 inventory compared to 1 + 5 inventory per character
nta but how
gd items are the opposite of bloat. unless you mean how they are packed full of stuff for different builds?
Think he means number of item mods
they do have quite a lot going on with items when it comes to reading shit that drops
The game being self contained and complete is literally its strength. The other games are wanking about who's the biggest moron, meanwhile you can simply play GD and actually mod it like its a real video game.
Grim Dawn is one of the few games I play and I've spent money on, and I'm happy to pay them for being so honest in a sea of grifting. I haven't even played Diablo 4, and the only Diablo 3 I've played is my Switch copy which is the only one I'd buy because I don't want only online shit.
they don't, crate just wanted to make a complete game free of all the bullshit that plagues this particular genre for the last decade, and they succeeded
The most fun i had was the bleeder build i made
Did this get updated or something? Should I play it again?
nah, wait until expansion some time next year instead
Best combo for chaos? Occultist is so weak
Sentinel (Occultist+Oathkeeper). Obviously you still need to know how to put together a build
When do you guys typically transfer to Ultimate? Maybe around that tier of late 60s/early70s gear upgrades like the legendaries? Or just rush some resistance threshold and immediately swap?
Better question, when you do go to Elite?
I just finished the base game and I'm onto the first DLC it's like I don't really want to restart the entire game.
You could always do AoM on elite and then do FG on ultimate
Can you go straight to AoM?
AoM is post-Loghorrean
I don't know what that means.
Means ashes of malmouth is available after you beat the vanilla campaign. Forgotten Gods is available after you beat the warden in act 1
Oh no, sorry i mixed it up. You still need to beat the campaign to access malmouth. FG just requires you to beat act 1
Yeah I don't want to do the whole campaign again that's the issue
For me it's around 45 or so. Any lower and the item rolls aren't high enough to deal with the resistance penalty. If it's your first run you might as well go through AoM and probably Forgotten Gods as well before moving up. Everything scales and you'll be in no danger of hitting 100 early even if you enter Elite at 65ish.
>Better question, when you do go to Elite?
Immediately after beating Loghorrean.
The replay through Elite usually kills a natural playthrough for me, was hoping to find an easier way to make that transition and skip Elite or most of it. If only I could find some kind of 'template' or guideline or how much overall x stat/resist I need, some minimal reputation progression maybe, or something overall to easily get me started on Ultimate.
The main game (up to this referenced boss) is the first four Acts--you can progress to the next difficulty after completion of the main campaign which is the first four Acts; Ashes of Malmouth, the first content expansion, is Acts V and VI; and Forgotten Gods, the second and currently-last content expansion is Act VII.
I move up immediately after killing Loghorrean on Elite and see how Burial Hill feels. If it's sketchy as frick I go back and do Elite AOM, otherwise I just continue.
after I kill loghorean on elite.
I could have sworn there was an update ages ago that let you start characters on any difficulty you wanted, and play all the way through with them. And it introduced level scaling. But then I came back to the game, and nope, gotta kill loghorean twice. IDK if I dreamed that update, or if they rolled in back, or what.
There's an item you can use, but you can't get it until you're already on ultimate, so you have to run the game three times, then use that character to buy the difficulty item for your other characters. I have no idea why they don't just do away with the 3 run shit altogether but I guess D2 boomers just can't be convinced to change anything.
Oh, that makes sense. I probably bought that item on my occultist who's beaten the game thrice, because I remember starting a character on ultimate at some point. And then just forgot after years of not playing, and thought it was a permanent account-wide unlock.
It's a real update but it's well hidden. They added items to the shop at the Conclave of the Three on higher difficulties that you transfer with the shared stash, and eating them on a new character unlocks the lower difficulties. You still need to play through the game twice + act 1 Ultimate to get a character there to buy them, though.
With FG, they introduced the tokens which allowed you to immediately open Elite/Ultimate with any character.
>start characters on any difficulty you wanted
With this latest recent update, beating Loghorrean on Normal/Veteran now opens Elite AND Ultimate. You are correct in that you can play through to level cap on the difficulty that you want, that is, on Normal/Vet if you wanted, and the level scaling is much greater now because of it.
i just wish they let you start in ultimate from the get go without the use of merits
well, the pros of GD being a single player game is that you could just use GDstash to change that on a new character. takes like 10s max
But you'd melt without resists. Which I get in a way.
>But you'd melt without resists
i like this
I start on ultimate, run to the first boss at level 1 to lock him down at low level, drink xp pot, put on lokar's set and kill mobs to level 10 or so, go kill boss, turn in quest to boost to level 30 near instantly
then I do the same thing on elite but up to where you save the tinkerer guy's apprentice, turn in all quests for level 40. should bbe just enough time for an xp pot to run out if you grab all the available shrines up to that point as well
then jump back in to ultimate and don't look back
I follow "beginner guides" for builds though so its usually something powerful
yeah man some anon linked me a blitz build a couple days ago and been having a blast. watching a cluster of trash mobs just evaporate is pure bliss
I need to finally do the Lokarr quest and get the set, or make a character who can beat him. Same for Ravager/Mogdrogen. I could probably look up some 'powerlevel' guides to ease things out a little faster.
G O A L S, zoomer, G O A L S
In what situation is Duncan better than Arngrim?
His exclusive items/affixes are slightly better for early game casters but in the long run it doesn't really matter.
I used to hate bosses summoning adds but them proccing this baby makes them a godsend
Is the crab star good for a twohand soldier/barbariabian guy?
Well, what are the bonuses of the crab star? If you're playing 2H, Kraken is the big one you typically want to rush first. It's up top.
Damn I went with th white and purple ones, so probably can't kraken, I was gonna try for the soldier one or the shrieking guy on his knees
But he also attac, shell strong, pincer stronk
>Damn I went with th white and purple ones, so probably can't kraken
if you're going 2h then you legit can't skip kraken. it's too good for 2handers. just respecc dude
You absolutely want Kraken for a 2hander playthrough.
>Kraken
how the frick did i miss this
use the search function that they added years ago you nit
sure, it's a good defensive constellation
filtered by Kino Dawn, its tough
>find an item that changes a skill, would be perfect for an X build
>have to wait until level 90 fricking 4 before you can use it
They really need to change this. Would being able to use these items a little earlier really break the bank?
would you rather it be a level 50 item that you use temporarily and then have to replace rather than be a good item you can use when you're max level? Also what item was it
it would be exceptionally cool if items would "level-up".
If you got it at level 30, it's the level 30 version. When you get to level whatever, say 45, it rolls the level 45 version (rerolling the stats it already has, not changing prefixes).
Casual as frick? Maybe. But frick it would be convenient.
What devotions are good for elemental/shield? Going Battlemage
>level 80
>still using a shit level 40 ring with no resists because it's literally the only usable source of attack damage converted to health i've found
what's a good build for this feel
what build would Chio run?
gun
frick
i didn't even realize it was a secret area cause of how obvious it was
>frick
it's not really that much effort unless you legit have zero scraps and absolutely refuse to farm anything. crafting a ring is like 2 scraps and 5215 iron bits. Honestly you're better off just respeccing your constellations and getting ghoul/fox/toad for some life leech until you can get proper gear for your character
crafting a ring with vampiric or dread lords affix. or farming cronley until you get one with adcth.
You DID go to the secret area under the bridge in Burrwitch Estate right?
What the frick with all these Grim Dawn threads as of lately.
Is this CRATE shill campaign before the next expansion?
I welcome this
There was a major patch last week
1.2 dropped anon
>Is this CRATE shill campaign before the next expansion?
yep
marketing israelite israelites have worked out that it's a good game recent update
You must get some really good sleep with that much yawning
low quality mobile port
>blizzdrones absolute seething
>le epic super funny xd joke posted in ery thread so origenelle
Wow, it really hurt that much? I will keep posting it in every shill thread you make.
alright if any of you remember this korean chink shit from back in teh day, there was Amazon women who used diablo 2 skill trees, slayers(humans)who could use guns/blades/sword+boards/guns/magicstaff to level up by using those and vampires who used diablo stat point leveling with allocation
i want to make a slayer equivalent. bladers were 2handers who could shoot out frickin tornados, spirit images, and quake eruption lava shit. sword and board were more about aoe lightning shit and fast attacks
what do i do?
>sword and board were more about aoe lightning shit and fast attacks
Lightning Archon
>bladers were 2handers who could shoot out frickin tornados, spirit images, and quake eruption lava shit.
uhhhhh, 2h fire warder? or maybe a primal strike something idk
whatever can i just make a whirlwind barb in this?
yes
>whatever
if you're gonna be like that then go have sex with your dad homosexual
Yes, Shieldbreaker Eye of Reckoning will be the base.
Poison/acid version with occultist is also viable.
The Oathkeeper class has a whirlwind abiliity, and they they added sets for every damage/other class type so if you wanted to you could make a rainbow of whirlwind barbs
Path of Exile is better
No.
Nope.
they are both good, probably the best in the genre.
I mean yeah I agree but this game is still pretty fun. Something to do while waiting for the next league.
Maybe but I feel like it's way too late to get into that game now.
No damage numbers so POE is bad.
Literally what is the point of these games if you can't see your numbers get bigger.
so what if you're doing a trillion damage per second? the only thing that matters is
>is stuff dying fast enough?
PoE seasonal and live-service nature are its undoing in comparison to GD
GD feels like you came back home and boot your own PC to play what you have
PoE feels like you have visited computer club, boot no-ones PC, played for an hour and quit, and someone else took this PC for his turn
I find POE obnoxious with its 400 sub systems where only like 4 are relevant at all. Its pure bloat. Ill give POE2 a try, since itll be fresh and probably good as a result but the current POE is a nightmare.
I got into poe 2 years ago. You can safely disable all the content you don't like and things like heists are actually a refreshing take on mapping since they utilise mostly different mechanics while still letting you play the same core character you wanted to play as.
What really ultimately kills the game for me how the game is built around trading as a core mechanic.
>trading
Why I'll never play POE
>400 sub systems where only like 4 are relevant at all
this is entirely dependent on what build you are playing and not the game as a whole
>Ill give POE2 a try, since itll be fresh and probably good
you vastly underestimate how autistic chris wilson is
>you vastly underestimate how autistic chris wilson is
Isn't chris sticking to poe while a fresh team handles poe2?
it's still both chris and jonathan, and it's stil chris's love child of a game.
Is there a build where I just have an aura of frick you that I can alt-tab and let everything run to me and die
no. there used to be a lawnmower build like that a few years ago, but it was literal hell to play and squishy as frick and required the use of consumable potions constantly to reach it's potential.
Aura of Censure can do it up to Elite. Not sure about others.
You need the scarab MI to do it + a shit ton of elemental damage
There are retaliation builds where you do a frickton of damage when things hit you and your tankiness is off the charts.
Ranged enemies don't trigger it however so you have to slowly beat them to death with abilities that do % retal damage on attack.
>There are retaliation builds where you do a frickton of damage when things hit you and your tankiness is off the charts.
melee retal builds are kinda eh right now because of sunder. the caster ones are still great though. This one
is actually a lightning retaliation build
Unlike PoE, Retaliation isn't actual dogshit, but as the other Anon said, it has some noted downsides.
Also, I miss when Crown of the Pale King + The Retch was a real combo in PoE.
>They recently buffed Crown of the Pale King..
>It's still limited to damage you reflect WHEN HIT and thus does nothing
theres nothing like righteous fire but if you like retaliation like other anons have said that should be an ok substitute. though righteous fire is a lot more fun
mines was the one fun season in PooE. The visual design really lends itself to a cramped cave system.
Delve is still my favorite piece of content in the game, i'm glad it's still a profitable niche.
https://forums.crateentertainment.com/t/1-1-9-0-empyrions-judge-paladin-crucible-4-42/107547
>[1.1.9.0]
i doubt that build works any sort of well now.
it does, sunder doesn't fricks it up like melee retaliation builds
You've tried it recently? Cause a lot of items have gotten balance passes since superfluff posted that.
Bros I'm addicted to Primal Strike and Doom Bolt, how do I free myself?
why
This. Who needs anything else when you can fricking smite shit.
play a trozan tss druid
Trozan is garbo, they miss your target half the time. I wish it was just one big one.
>Trozan is garbo
Really isn't. Especially now with health regen buffs.
Like I said, I can't stand that they miss. If it was just one big projectile like the fricking name implies it should be I'd agree, but it's not.
It kinda is a shame crate hasn't added an item that does exactly that. someone should tell zantai to add a set or an MI that does it in the new expansion
Lightning PS and Doombolt or the vitality damage build? RED or BLUE?
Take the Shadow Strikepill
i thought the dodge sounded like a stupid gimmick but it feels great
Honest question, what is the point of whites or yellows even being in the game? Once I have all greens, I set the filter to only show MIs, Epics and Legendaries for the rest of the fricking game because there's no point to seeing anything else.
true.
for people starting out i guess. it's just progression. as for yellows, craftable yellows (gloves, boots and sometimes pants) are still a thing and can be very strong with the right affix combinations and crafting bonuses
for the first 10 minutes of the game I guess
also
>not showing all greens and just quickly selling all greens any time you're at a vendor
literally throwing away bits. a char I've played for like 15 hours total got around 4 mil playing through ultimate.
immediately spent it all on xp pots for alts
they changed the prices in 1.2 right? does anyone know how much things went down? and how big iron bits drops are?
I'm not sure how they changed it but it feels like stuff in general is worth far more than it was. 3-4k per green at max level
as for dropped bits eh its still pretty low. just guessing I'd say around triple the old amounts
>it feels like stuff in general is worth far more than it was
Oh really? That's great! I must've misread, I thought they dropped prices.
for me, it's bloody pox
on hardcore
ultimate
with the skill mod that gives enemies +150% speed
Do you guys usually finish the xpac once you complete the campaign, or just straight to the next difficulty?
Varies. And now that doing anything on Elite/Ultimate also rewards the points from it on Normal/Normal+Elite, I'm more inclined to do it all on Ultimate.
Wait, really? So if a build can handle it, just jump straight from normal to ulti? Is that with the new patch? Sweet, there's enough constellations in the game where skipping elite sounds like you're not missing out on anything.
>Is that with the new patch?
Yes.
>[Major New Features]
>Completing a quest that grants Skill or Attribute points on a higher difficulty (Elite or Ultimate) will now reward you the Skill and Attribute points from the lower difficulties as well
The caveat is that this doesn't apply to Devotion Shrines, so you'll either need to grab a few on lower difficulties or do almost all of them on Ultimate to cap your Devotions.
Thankfully, the ones that cost materials aren't too bad unless you're intentionally choosing to not use excess resources from your shared storage.
yeah. Forgotten Gods xpac let your high level character buy unlock tokens from a vendor and transfer them to a new character to unlock higher difficulty straight away.
people were having fun playing Ultimate Difficulty with fresh noobs since it gave them a challenge that Normal/Veteran never really offered to begin with.
>tfw playing as a Deathknight shock waving everything
Shit, i totally forgot that i had a retaliation shield breaker
Never really went ahead farming stuff for him
Needs more Aetherial breeding factories to explore.
Does this game have ng+? I beat the game & two expansions years ago wondering if I can just continue with this save.
Yeah. It has 3 main difficulties, Normal (with the Veteran modifier to make it start a bit harder), Elite, and Ultimate. When you beat the final boss on Normal, you unlock Elite. Elite>Ultimate.
If you have the 2nd DLC, you can unlock scrolls that let you skip a new character straight to Elite or Ultimate.
Sweet, thanks for the info anon.
they expect you to play the game twice over to even hit max level, it's pretty shit honestly, not to mention lore and quests are locked behind grinding reputation in an ARPG of all things
does 1.2 multiplayer work on Linux and windows 7? I haven't updated to .9.8 yet because of that bug.
So if I want to level up different characters, how do I get the XP potion? Is it after beating ulti?
yeah, then talk to the emissary, go to that expansion, then talk to one of the vendors near the shattered realms gate
xp potion and ultimate unlock stone then doing the basic act 1 quests in elite and ultimate will put you around level 40, not too hard if you're using a ranged build
I guess I could spawn x100 tokens but effort, etc.
I don't remember. It's been a long time since I paid any attention to powerleveling meta. I know at one point there was some forum discussion about how you could quickly level from 1-10 in Crucible, and have 3-5 constellation points, THEN you could start the main campaign if you wanted a little quick boost. Yes you can buy constellations through Crucible mcguffins.
They added so many extra shrines now that the crucible shit feels like a waste of time
Reading all the lore notes you can grab easy at the start after using a Merit to unlock all the teleports, with a double exp potion, already gets you to like Lv10 without doing anything
What are some early-game methods to level quickly through the Crucible? I know you can get a few constellations earlier than the actual campaign too which is a big boost.
QRD on Crucible constellations?
I played this a long time ago, and completely forgot builds and shit. What's the best summoner build these days?
someone make a coomer patch for this game and il play it over Diablo
Does the game have active abilities specifically designed for ranged weapons yet, or are guns still reliant on auto attacking and stacking buffs/passive effects?
😉
Left click the mobs, chud!
Most weapon-based active skills work with guns as well as melee. You can primal strike with a gun, for example.
True, but it would be nice to have things specifically designed for guns. There are several melee-only skills, after all.
Kinda bummed you don't see much physical augmentation beyond Act 2. Act 2 is also a bit of a narrative mess.
the best part of transferring a save is not being able to play the game for a few minutes because the screen keeps shaking
>auras suck
>"bows" suck
>summons suck, cant make skelly horde
>magic comes in 2 flavors, line or circle
what do you even DO in this game
i just killed the loghorrean by shooting a bunch of RIFLE ROUNDS into its fricking body and now i'm Elite(TM)!
Played up to Burrwitch last night and completed most of the objectives before succumbing to sleep. I grabbed the one-shot chest from the trash dump, gathered fabric, found some evidence to frick up Diremi back at Devil's Crossing, and cleared the desecrated Devotion Shrine. Now I need to 1) grab the next rift underneath the Warden's home, and 2) complete Hallowed Hill.
I need to swap back to Norm and craft some Dynamite so I can frick up Grand Priest Rlongword. I have a melee dual-wield poison man and a melee dual-wield ice woman at or in the 50s so I can throw related blues and legendaries to them. I may respec my ice lady into a cold caster instead of a cold melee. Or level a cold caster to have yet another character collecting e-dust.
This turned out way longer than I intended. Good morning, Grim Dawn gays?
>summons suck
works on my machine
>can't make skelly horde
not D2 tier but you can have a half-dozen boners at once.
suck, cant make skelly horde
This is what pisses me off the most about games that let you be a necromancer, they get killed as soon as you summon them.
Just started my fourth fire strike dual wielder. Send help.
How can I improve my survivability?
I got juggernaut relic and some skills that should help but I doubt I'm doing it right.
Please ignore red items, I'm working on it.
Sir
Your resistances.
Holy frick man
If they aren't 80% by the end of normal you're doing it wrong.
You need more points in Physique. A decent leveling baseline is having 100 HP per level.
>negative resists
Fix those. I don't blame you for skimping out on components; there are so many to memorize which does what. Wish there were a better organization/highlighting system in the game after all this time.
As others have said, fix your resistances.
You also have access to Arcanist, so get Maiven's Sphere of Protection.
>that ui
vomit
Can I change it?
yeah, by deleting whatever ui mod you have.
>there's a transmute merchant in the crucible
holy shit i have thrown away so many duplicates from sets i wanted to finish
More like Grim YAWN
So original!!!! NARWHAL THE BACON XD
I bought this thing today and I've been playing for 9 hours straight. My head hurts. I can't remember the last time I got this addicted to a game.
Grats, Anon.
I'd recommend storing your excess loot in the bank at Devil's Crossing. You'll get more access points later too.
Like you don't need to be carrying all those Components on you when you aren't changing your gear often enough to need them. And you likely don't need all that Scrap.
I have 1,160 hours in it and Grim Yawn is very appropriate and I personally think it's really funny.
SO FUNNI
MUST SAY IN EVERY THREAD
HAHA NARWHALE THE BECON
Man, just chill out a bit.
Levels drop like rain in this game. How are you not level 80 after 10 hours?
I can't beat the Crate of Entertainment superboss.
My dilemma with hack and slashes is that I play and level up blind without a real plan or knowledge of what's good hoping to find my own way. Then I hit a brick wall and my character sucks ass so I go look for a build guide. Takes a while to find something I find interesting then I play it following a recipe with specific level progression and gear to obtain to copy what someone else made and then I get bored and uninstall.
Then I reinstall and the cycle repeats.
>then I play it following a recipe with specific level progression and gear to obtain to copy what someone else made and then I get bored and uninstall
That sucks. Glad I don't share this issue lol
Sounds like a (you) problem because you choose the easy way out the moment you hit the slightest bump in the road.
i do not get people who get bored looking at guides, the fun is putting the puzzle together and figuring out why things work the way they do. this is universal too arpgs.
just use the save editor to de-select your classes tbqh
lets you re-pick them afterwards
doesn't this frick certain things up like the guaranteed legendary at the end of act 4?
As long as you don't frick with quest flags it shouldn't, but if you can't make it through act 4 then you really fricked something up.
Arcanist is the dullest / shittiest wizard adaptation in any arpg
you no liek penettis megic missil?
MOMS PENETTI XD
i started my 2h callidor tempest battlemage and got bored
i should just go see if my stun jack spam elementalist is actually playable now with the new update
I was looking at my characters. My 2h callidor battlemage made it to the 20s and my stun jacks + storm mystery box made it to 61.
I thought about doing a FW or Blade Arc build but I already have a 2H Cadence and 2H Primal Strike.
all of my characters are either 100 or deleted because i didnt get to the actual part of the game lol
and the answer to my storm jacks ele is no hes still shit but at least he doesnt have mana problems anymore
Im level 45, been leveling with 2h forcewave because apparently leveling with thorns is a pain, but now I want to switch because theres a good thorns set at 40, but its been 5 levels now and I only found 3 pieces.
Is there a specific way to get set pieces or do I just grind more?
Transmuting
>With the Forgotten Gods expansion, inventors become able to exchange one piece of an item set for another random piece of the same set. >The ability is unlocked for all inventors after completing the side quest The Tome of Eanatum for Kargon.
Sadly this is the only way. It let's you roll items in multiple different ways. Get some set blue items that have a matching level and try to roll them into it.
And if you get any copies, you can roll those within the same set, so keep any copies you get!
Can I just go to the dlc zone now and do quests there or should I wait until I finish the base game?
You can do Forgotten Gods anytime after beating Act 1.
The quest for the tome, iirc, is about in the middle of the expansion. There might be some lore that goes over your head but I can't recall exactly when and where the various story beats happen.
The unfortunate reality of Grim Dawn is that low level equipment usually isn't worth it because a lot of it is harder to get than level 94 stuff.
Also what this Anon said:
Honestly, stick with FW.
Forcewave is an absolute powerhouse of a skill.
The spammable version, with really very little support, will rock everything in the game.
you're gonna have a really meh time with retaliation at that level. you're gonna take forever till kill stuff. just so you know
anon. please use your components.. and how are you at level 45 and don't have a relic?
I never use components on anything I know I might replace in a few hours, and even then all the "good" components are either crafted which I cba to do, or so rare I might not have it on me at the moment so I just forget it.
>I never use components on anything I know I might replace in a few hours
literally a non issue since they drop like flies now and there's no longer parts you need to combine anymore. Literally just use whatever drops, you're gonna have an abundant amount of them anyway.
>just use whatever drops
Never.
Stop hoarding.
nice
FRICK MALMOUTH
Did the changes from the last patch make it worth a new playthrough if I've already exhausted my enjoyment with the game?
I don't really think any of us can answer that for you. Sorry.
nah it's a QoL and bugfix update, wait for the expansion.
I did a quick run and it didn't feel that different on an existing build.
The dash is probably nice early but I didn't feel like I needed to use it over my other movement abilities
Have you poured one out for little Alister this year?
can i be a bear?
Soon.
Next expansion, expected q1 2024, is adding a Shapeshifter class.
For now, no.
nice
>expected q1 2024
no it's not. They only said 2024 for now
You appear to be correct. Not sure where I got q1 from. My mistake.
I'm making a Demo + Occu chaos gun build.
They need to make constellation skills be able stack on a single ability, having to waste a dozen points on a filler ability just to proc a -resist constellation fricking sucks.
they also need to make skills bindable to the same key like chronicon does. there are quite a few piano builds in grim dawn that i stopped playing cause how fricking exhausting it was to spam 5 buttons constantly. and that was before the movement runes and additional evade button
you can technically do this by swapping between the 2 hotbar sets, using one for spam skills and the other for duration/cooldown ones.
it's not even remotely the same anon. In Chronicon you bind whatever skill you want to mouse 1 and it'll use all the skills whenever they are off CD. There's a 3rd party utility someone made for GD that functions like this but it's also a hassle to set up and even more configuring it for 3 dozen characters
Update is great.
- SR now spawns exit portal in the immediate proximity to the player. It's great.
- Dodge mechanic not just really good but it can cancel the walk delay after other movement skills. High tier movement glyphs are generally have same cooldown as dodge.
- Difficulty mods got simplified and there's no increased defenses/resistances for monsters anymore. So damage numbers are always BIG and JUICY.
- MI and double rare markers are great
- As a minion player I do significantly more damage to celestials but the boys are squishier. Especially skeletons. I'm getting gear to tinker with buffed blight fiends.
Shit is great.
>only way to play melee is to play shaman and use primal strike
>my bar is literally empty except for my lube, primal strike on left click and leap on right click
This has to be one of the worst games ever designed. That said I got pretty hard when I finally got my bis weapon
>Primal strike level 25
Went with soldier since I figured thats the only other two hander class but most of my damage is lightning and I feel some other one would've been better? Fighting spirit and menhir's will are pretty good though.
I just got this axe and I'm deleting fricking everything and I cant die with 13k hp
>I feel some other one would've been better
demolitionist would've been pretty alright to splash some extra "fire and forget" skills for debuffs/constellation procs
>only way to play melee
Or dw nighblade or soldier or demo or oathkeeper.
It's a bit moronic but generally if you have issues it's usually a skill issue. Get this instead. It will drop scaled up according to your level. There's also a gun that does about the same thing but require more dicky.
It's target farmable from those korvan reanimating statues with halberds. And those who can drop this exact version hold blue-ish halberd in their hands.
Just for the +2m range? The hp is fine too
It doesnt look that better in terms of deleting things
You are arguing with another anon
yeah man making it a whole second faster and adding 35% weapon damage is nothing dw about it
nta but that looks like what you would build PS around. even better than legendaries since it can be easily farmed at any level
It also has 35% more weapon damage added to PS. They also drop with affixes so if you're willing to farm (or lucky) you can get one with more OA, speed, etc. Biggest issue with your current weapon is that there's no end game version, and even if there was it won't be easily farmable.
>only way to play melee is to play shaman and use primal strike
sounds like a you problem.
>I just got this axe and I'm deleting fricking everything and I cant die with 13k hp
K. now hop into gladiator crucible and get to wave 170 and then reset at 150 and do that 3 times without dying.
>ha were you having fun?!
>well why don't you do the absolute top tier difficult content if you're having so much fun!
ok moron
>bragging how little knowledge he has spouting moronic shit about how only PS is the way to play melee, continues bragging how awful and unkillable his babbys first build is
>gets told
>WAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH LEAVE ME ALONE I'M HAVING FUN *SHITS AND PISSES HIS PANTS*
Always a laugh looking at you fricking newbie shitter thinking you're hot shit with your absolute noob babby first builds. Coming here posting how awesome they are. So fricking pathetic. Learn 2 make a proper build fricking homosexual lmao
This might shock you but I wasn't the PS anon.
You're an annoying frick.
You've been an annoying frick before in this very thread.
We get it. You can leave.
having a lot of fun with a 2h ranged build. something different after completing a blitz warlord
feels frickin nuts at this level, can't wait to have it maxed
how do i build a blunderbuss character? i want to blow holes in people
Oh and calling it one of the worst games ever designed when you're literally using 1 of the 2 strongest babbies first taste of a strong starter skill? Fricking moronic pathetic homosexual. Go play Torchlight 1 instead
>you're having fun AND using a good skill?
>well, time for me to piss all over you because i'm miserable to be around!
so what is THE best build that can do anything with ease then?
The King of the Crucible won't tell you because his ego has been bruised.
I'm genuinely curious. I only follow guides cuz making my own char only to find out its garbage in ultimate makes me sad. I just want to kill stuff not fret over getting devotions just right when respeccing is so annoying and cumulative in cost
>salty as frick for being called out
Hilarious. But keep thinking your hot shit with your baby build homosexual n1gger. LMAO
Currently? Probably an Aegis of Menhir spam build.
>Brags about how his shitty baby first time discovering primal strike ''''build'''' and how fricking amazing his dogshit build is thinking he's some immortal tank
>give him a reality check
>spergs out completely and doubles down
Hahahaha every time with this site. Always tons of homosexual who think they know anything coming into threads to brag thinking they're hot shit. Please sperg out more you fricking homosexual cum drinker
The base game is at 10 euros on Steam currently.
Is the base game alone good enough or the dlc are made mandatory ?
Is it as mind numbing as Chaosbane ?
Does the game allow me to re allocate my skill points ?
does it require giga autism to build or it"s fine if you play casually ?
Are the classes varied ?
How is the latest update ?
>Is the base game alone good enough or the dlc are made mandatory ?
They are expansions and add tons of content. Get them
>Is it as mind numbing as Chaosbane ?
Only you can answer that. But probably not considering what i've heard about how shit Chaosbane turned out to be.
>Does the game allow me to re allocate my skill points ?
yes. allows you to respec everything except your mastery. You can do that too if you want with mods or 3rd party programs.
>does it require giga autism to build or it"s fine if you play casually ?
you can get through the game without any build guides or knowledge. Only thing you need to keep in mind is do not neglect your resistances and don't scatter your damage type.
>Are the classes varied ?
they are. some more than others
>How is the latest update ?
pretty good. it's mostly just a big balance patch more than anything.
is there a class like a necromancer with summons or life leeching ? I love hp drain
no not really
also keep in mind the game is meme'd on as grim yawn for a reason. starting out is really slow and seems to filter alot of people. there used to be a tool for this in previous patches that allowed you to speed up the game, but the dev of it fricked off and didn't share the source code so now you'll have to use cheatengine as an alternative if you feel the game is too slow.
yes there is a necro class.
>there used to be a tool for this in previous patches that allowed you to speed up the game, but the dev of it fricked off and didn't share the source code so now you'll have to use cheatengine as an alternative if you feel the game is too slow.
damn sad. Is there a risk am punished by the game like banned if I use cheatengine ? Besides v telling me I "didn't beat the game"
Its not an always online game so not sure why you would be banned.
A game isn't required to be always online in order to have anti-cheat.
you can cheat in custom made items so take a guess
no. it's a single player game with tacked on p2p co-op which allows modding.
grim yawn gays have never played the game. clearly diablo (wait) 4 (years for content) is the place to be.
take your meds schizo.
oh you're a tourist too, of course
Has the Reign of Terror mod added anything new since 2019 which was when I last played it?
Grim Yawn
>ANOTHER EPIC SUPER JOKE XD NARWHAL MY BACON ANONYMOOSE XDDDD
Struck a nerve?
that's not a joke, it's a fact
Whats a fun flashy build? I always find myself just going necro/occultist and let summons do the work for me. Want something a little more me focused.
Any big frick you spells I can spam that are actually good?
what kind of flashy are you looking for? like fill the entire screen flashy? or just low key flashy?
Mortar trap or grenade builds are the former, while stuff like spellscorge battlemage or a Callidors tempest builds are the latter
Something the equivalent of casting meteor swarm or something like that. I always get bored with caster types because their "best" spells are usually the low or mid level ones just getting spammed forever.
Because if you based your build on spells that are at 50 points in a class, you'd basically have nothing to cast for 17 levels which is extremely fricking shit.
Im fine using low level spells until I get the big daddy ones, but I always liked frozen orb builds i D2 and want more of that. Whats the point of having high level spells if they are actually useles?
They're meant to be a complement to what you already built at low/mid levels, not the core of your build.
I suggest a nade build then. just go demo and nade the screen with canister bomb, grenado and BWC. You can go lightning, chaos or fire. up to you. You can also do a burn DoT shieldbreaker. Or if you want a flashy melee build you can make a Nex/Ortus Saboteur using the epic elemental balance rings. It's not giga flashy, but flashy enough. But it's an auto attack build.
oh you can also do just pure mortar trap if you're so inclined too
there's nothing really all that similar to that. closest you'll get to that is olexras flash freeze using the mageslayer set. which is a level 94 set
I played Grim Dawn twice - first by making Demo/Occultist and years later as Shaman/Arcanist. Second time was more pleasant than first one and I felt like I have bigger damage output despite game claiming otherwise but in both cases, I stopped playing after reaching final boss but even then last portion of game was somehow not fun anymore. Somehow the only H&S I enjoyed for whole run (and by whole run I mean from start to final boss) was Diablo 2 and Path of Exile.
I just wonder if Im doing something wrong or this genre got destroyed by approach of "only max level and best gear builds matters".
>or this genre got destroyed by approach of "only max level and best gear builds matters".
that's literally the opposite of what Grim Dawn is though.
I've been leveling a gfxslinger build, which inquisitor aura would work better with dual wield pistol elemental crap chucker?
Censure.
>which inquisitor aura would work better with dual wield pistol elemental crap chucker
>one aura gives elemental resist debuff, the other gives physical resist buff
real tough fricking choice there huh?
well to be fair, most new players won't realize they need to stack -rr to do damage until they actually get to ultimate and wonder why they are hitting like a pillow
Does it have controller support yet
for years yes.
Yes but the devs are fricking moronic and disable your mouse if it detects controller input because they think it'd be too overpowered if you were allowed to use a joystick in one hand to move and a mouse to aim behind you. Actual words from one of the devs.
Well, I sort of see where they're coming from. With mouse and keyboard you either click enemies or dodge crap, while simultaneous moving + aiming on controller is balanced because autoaim on controller kinda sucks.
but I can't do any menu navigation at all with my DS4 as the active input device any more
yeah but it sucks ass because some moron thought it would be a good idea to make the right stick zoom the camera in and out so you'll constantly be fighting to zoom the camera back out every time you pan it around because of how sensitive it is
Necromancer's skeletons used to delete everything with ease and were pretty much immortal. What happened?
the competitive scene complained
>finally get the thermite mine
>everything just fricking dies
Okay, what’s the catch? It obviously can’t be this good, so what’s the downside?
-% damage resistance is king.
It's good for the entire game if you stack resistance debuffs
>competitive
>single player arpg
no one is competing. it's literally just the min maxers leaving feedback. Apparently you're not allowed to post minmaxed builds in this game cause all the shitter and casuals foofoos get hurt cause their garbage builds that are 'fun' are dogshit but good enough to get through ultimate and kill the celestials in 20mins with 500 deaths.
That's almost half of the builds posted on the "official" database. So many of them are objectively awful and get carried hard by the stashed items with high roll stats. It's next to impossible to curate the game in a way that everyone agrees is the "legit" way which makes the competitive scene a passing joke at best.
is there actually a competitive scene? i was making a joke.
no
Kinda. People compete against each other by pushing even fringier builds to higher heights in Crucible. But as I said there are no curated standards so it's largely meaningless numbers go up autism.
There's a mod that adds seasons to Grim Dawn. I think that attracts more of the competitive types, but I haven't played it and never will.
>Not converting pet attack to vitaly attacks or giving them the Toad constellation for the attack percentage heal
>Not using Shaman for Mordrogen's Pact
>Not raising your pets's attacks to 500% with constellations alone
convert yourself into trash and dump yourself into the nearest trashcan for playing shet builds
Grim Yawn would be more accurate for this snoozefest.
HOLY MOLY LOOK AT DIS ORGINALLE POST
WWWOOOOOOOW SO FUNNI AND OGRINAL
Seethe
I wish the update had a proper loot filter. I guess I'll have to use one of these custom filters some modders did.
huh? you mean rainbow loot? those are just txt files that edit tag colors
Yes. But I'd rather use a filter that is actually integrated in the game. For all its flaws, Last Epoch has a top notch filter and I miss it in every other game.
that wasn't my point at all. i'm just correcting you calling them filters and modders is being generous, since it's just a bunch of text files that add colored text to stats. Not loot filters at all, just helps sectioning and reading stats
How good is this game compared to Diablo 2?
It's better than Diablo 2 if you care about more depth and mechanics. There's much more going on mechanically with Grim Dawn than there is Diablo 2.
There's ten main classes in Grim Dawn, and each one of them has much more skills than Diablo. But it's not just ten main classes, you can choose a secondary class and they combine to form a new class, like for example, being a soldier + necromancer makes you a death knight.
And with one class, there's multiple build varieties you can take that play completely differently. It apparent that you basically have options to pursue hundreds of different builds.
What's DoT damage? What does it stand for?
I have a bunch of lightning damage, but if I got electrocute up what does it do?
electrocute is the dot, which is boosted by electrocute %
What does DoT stand for?
My lightning damage is like 400. But my electrocute is 0, but I could put on electrocute items. Would I benefit by adding some electrocute damage?
>What does DoT stand for?
Damage over Time newfriend
i'd say i prefer grim dawn over poe by quite a lot even though poe is still fun sometimes
poe is about looking up a build and screenraping but the way grim dawn is about actually playing the game and homebrewing a build based on what you have available
Eh. I sort of like the game, but the fact that it favors 1 button press-builds, and that the visuals are somewhat muddy (my eyesight sucks), turns me off from it.
the visuals are certainly muddy yeah, and the bloom is extreme, but you really don't have to go for 1 button press builds at all
I do disable bloom, wish there were a way to adjust it, tho. Also, Ive made a mod that make a better highlights for characters, should probably release it.
>on't have to go for 1 button press builds at all
really? What sort of build are we talking about?
well for instance a blademaster will be using the default auto-attack + ring of steel + pneumatic burst
>really? What sort of build are we talking about?
see
I'm waiting for the new class, I love berserkers and shapeshifters
>Why does every fricking item I find require a level 5+ above what I'm at?
to keep you playing
Anybody use graphics mods? How is the Grimtex mod, which is a upscaled textures?
i can only imagine that upping texture res would make the game even noisier to look at
iz ok. i just use reshade to sharpen the game a bit more
I'm new to Grim Dawn and I could never find equipment good for my build, so I just went a lightning build for my spellbinder
Any advice?
Probably suck it up until you get a good weapon and higher level. There is probably some monster unique that can give you good aether damage boost.
Thanks. And yeah I geared up to do elemental damage because the only good weapons I've gotten have been elemental.
So, what were you trying to do originally?
I was trying to do like aether damage.
post damage bonuses on second tab
This?
yeah, judging by your bonusses im guessing you're stacking elemental damage % which you might as well build around until you actually get gear for aether support
bone harvest probably isn't really worth it right now so you could dump that somewhere else, also siphon souls, probably just buff up iskandra's elemental exchange some more and maybe pick up replicating missile
https://forums.crateentertainment.com/t/build-compendium-x-forgotten-gods/49673
What's a fun sword and board build?
Fun?
Fun
I guess oathkeeper is pretty obvious given its shield focus.
Aren't inquisitors more about casting Gun?
half of their tree is gun
the other half is magic
Only soldier and oathkeeper have skills that require shields, after that you can pretty much combine them with pretty much anything as long as you know what you're doing and have a clear vision of how you want to play. Which is pretty true for the whole game.
>have a clear vision of how you want to play
The problem with doing this is that you pick a few skills/classes that have obvious synergy, then find an item that has some wacky ass damage conversion and bonuses and go "holy shit I could've done so much with this had I picked X instead"
that's why you've got a shared stash and unlimited character slots
hey at least you can respec cheaply, i've flipflopped on builds with great effect before
reallt the rule should just be "do what works best for the gear you find for the class you're playing" also always keep 8 attribute points so you can be flexible and equip shit
Well, if you wanna go the full damage conversion route you might as well just scour the whole database on grim tools.
soldier is an obvious choice for that, either combined with nightblade, oathkeeper or there's probably something else too, maybe shaman
paladin
you will never die if built correctly
Deathknight.
Death Knight is just warrior with some spooky buffs.
Sentinel
this. chaos sentinel. Lightning savagery archon is also an absolute monster
I have this game in my backlog I debating on purchasing forgotten gods and crucible. Does this game run well on the deck?
it runs OK I've heard but the controls are a bit poor.
It's so bizarre to me how I'm level 87, I've pretty much swapped all my items since starting Elite difficulty but my weapon, which is still an item I got when I was level 75 or so.
Nothing else has such an inflated physical and internal trauma multiplier, shit's crazy.
That said, I'm greatly enjoying almost dying every so often again, the new dodge is so good
is 40K martyr the only sci-fi arpg?
There's Space Siege, but that's kind of bad even compared to Martyr
Vitality builds make me feel like a degenerate
>ravenous earth and acid purge
I'm running the same setup but Oppressor instead
Conjurer focused on vitality + bleed is fun too, with Devouring Swarm, Grasping Vines and Bloody Pox is also very fun
It's not the build, it's you.
>have this cool Victorian Era slash magic meets WW1 theme going on
>make a DLC campaign thats just Titan Quest again
what were they thinking???
Exploring the mythology of a world is good.
?
please tell me you're not one of the morons that think crate entertainment are all former iron lore devs
There's always one in every GD thread who inevitably spergs out. Absolutely baffling.
How much of the team is comprised of people that aren't former Iron Lore devs?
And I was just poking fun at the dlc. It's still great but I wished they focused more on the styles and themes from the base game instead.
There are only two people who were involved with IL.
Sounds fine to me. TQ suffers from an absolutely abhorrent early game that GD manages to totally fix.
I never got far in GD, when do I have to stop hoovering every single XP on the map to progress? I think I got to a place with snakes in Egypt or something and just didn't care to continue.
Which is a shame because the game looks gorgeous, hellenic spear and shield is underrated.
>when do I have to stop hoovering every single XP on the map to progress?
You never had to, even more so now being able to level to 100 on Normal difficulty.
Inquisitor is the only class with an inbuilt ranged DW skill, as Nightblade is the only one with a melee DW skill. You can find/make items that give you the ability to dual-wield ranged weapons and some of those are vital to builds. For Cadence, you want a 2H (melee or ranged) for the extra hard hit.
Also keep in mind cadence doesn't play nice with auto attack enhancers despite cadence basically being an auto attack
How to make proper Enhancement Shaman build from WoW in Grim Dawn?
you'll have to give a flavourful rundown of what that class does because not all of us are WoW veterans
Melee with two 1h weapons and lightning/flame enchanted attacks
Sounds like a Dervish, which is Nightblade/Oathkeeper
Shaman + Nightblade, top parts of the skilltrees.
Haven't played in a while, is griminternals still necessary or have they added most of the QoL features?
>have they added most of the QoL features?
yes
Friendly reminder gave runs great on steam deck. Only thing missing is official 800p support me thinks
What classes besides purifier can go ranged dual wield? Are there any decent cadence/savagery builds like that?
dual wield melee savagery trickster can hit pretty hard if you build it right
