I still remember when this was rumored. It was like a year or a few months before launch and the rumor was that Switch is getting GTA or a port of something. Then it was a trilogy port remaster. And finally at reveal it turns out it's a shitty Unreal Engine cash grab. Rockstar has billions of dollars and this is the best they could do? Worst of all is that they outsourced it, meaning it wasn't important enough to have a real studio on it like Leeds who did the handheld GTAs and Rockstar games. And then they outsource it even more to Indians using AI and short cuts to make the games.
GTAV was shit, Red Dead 2 was shit. So GTA HD being complete shit was not a surprise to me. Its the first time I held back from buying a GTA game as soon as possible. And I will never buy it as I already have the classic PC ports. Have no interest in 6 because I lived long enough to see Rockstar rise and fall. They are now no different than the other AAA shovelware devs like EA, Ubisoft, Capcom, etc.
All the assets were passed through automated tools with no care. All the text was ran by OCR so it couldn't understand there was supposed to be an "I" there, all the textures were ran by some of the shittiest ML upscalers I have ever seen, and all the models were just subdivision surfaced, leading to such moronation as picrel. One of the most atrocious and blatant money grabs that people bought into. Anyone defending Defective Edition as some sort of masterpiece is a legitimate subhuman piece of trash. Frick R*, frick T2, and frick Grove Street Games or whatever the frick their current name is.
I would have been able to put up with all the other frickups if the character models didn't look so fricking moronic. It's almost unbelievable how anyone let this shit get out the gate, Grove Street Games Devs should be smothered in shit and banned from ever developing another game

They basically just used UE4 as a replacement for the Renderware graphics engine while all of the game code was copypasted in with the absolute minimum amount of work required to make it run.

What I like the least is the laughably tiny subtitles.
The original game had nice big text that was easy to read even on the shittiest hand-me-down TV since it was set up closer to television broadcasting standards in terms of text size proportional to the screen, letter count per subtitle, formatting, etc.

I prefer the definitive. The weapon wheel and radio wheel to me make it great, as well as the quicksave and mission retry too. The models looking gross doesn't matter to much as the original weren't that amazing anyway. Didn't pay full price for them though.

I still remember when this was rumored. It was like a year or a few months before launch and the rumor was that Switch is getting GTA or a port of something. Then it was a trilogy port remaster. And finally at reveal it turns out it's a shitty Unreal Engine cash grab. Rockstar has billions of dollars and this is the best they could do? Worst of all is that they outsourced it, meaning it wasn't important enough to have a real studio on it like Leeds who did the handheld GTAs and Rockstar games. And then they outsource it even more to Indians using AI and short cuts to make the games.
GTAV was shit, Red Dead 2 was shit. So GTA HD being complete shit was not a surprise to me. Its the first time I held back from buying a GTA game as soon as possible. And I will never buy it as I already have the classic PC ports. Have no interest in 6 because I lived long enough to see Rockstar rise and fall. They are now no different than the other AAA shovelware devs like EA, Ubisoft, Capcom, etc.

All the assets were passed through automated tools with no care. All the text was ran by OCR so it couldn't understand there was supposed to be an "I" there, all the textures were ran by some of the shittiest ML upscalers I have ever seen, and all the models were just subdivision surfaced, leading to such moronation as picrel. One of the most atrocious and blatant money grabs that people bought into. Anyone defending Defective Edition as some sort of masterpiece is a legitimate subhuman piece of trash. Frick R*, frick T2, and frick Grove Street Games or whatever the frick their current name is.

Reminder that Grove Street Games used to be called War Drum Studios and they were responsible for the atrociously bad "next gen" ports of the trilogy for the seventh and eight gen consoles, where they didn't fix any of the bugs the modding community fixed years ago and only introduced new ones. Not only that, they were notorious for leaving behind R*'s dev files in their releases, with the Defective Edition being the single biggest gift to the modding community as that had the most of that shit left.
