Xbox version runs on an earlier build and extremely buggy that it's near impossible to beat.

Map textures fricking up when it rained in game, and random button mash boss fight that was took forever to beat. Glitchy mess. My 17 year old self still enjoyed it. You could use people's explosion severed limbs ad clubs. City exploring was fun when it didn't freeze up.
True crime had a level of batshit insanity that just wasn't in Sleeping Dogs for me. Plus the actual free roam sandbox type of gameplay was handicapped by the fact that Wei was neither a cop or a gangster. In NYC you can plant drugs on people and play the game like an absolute psycho and get a kino heel turn ending. I think I just got lucky with those games on the PS2, avoided the game breaking bugs. I always wondered if maybe the developers got another year and the game launched on the 360 with some extra horsepower, would it have beaten GTA 4 to the punch.

Sleeping Dogs has shitty shooting mechanics with less abilities, less driving moves and nothing in the story is as memorable as kung fu fighting a North Korean general on a skyscraper to Deftones or an underground Chinese wizard throwing supernatural entities at you.
It's a certified classic for sure. The driving and shooting are garbage but still fun somehow. The kung fu beat em up aspect is great. To this day it has one of the more interesting morality systems. Neither PCSX2 nor Dolphin can emulate it well either (graphical glitches, low FPS, random crashes)
