I'm amazed there are any anons that think China will release a worthwhile console, let alone a fricking handheld. Chinks can't build anything decent.

      >built in taiwan

considering valve's goals with the deck, it could sell 3 units and it would still be a succesful product if steamOS starts shipping inside the chink handhelds

You must have missed the memo, guys.
Valve have officially reached out to GPD offering to tailor steamOS to their 6800U device and promote it on the steam store alongside the deck.

It is the cheapest and it is good but here’s the thing. It’s never comming out. I backed the fricking thing and it’s been delayed several times over. Firstly,
    >AMD 6800U handhelds are a flop, worse performance at low TDP, same performance at 15 watts, only better at 28w which burns battery in under an hour
Is just flat out factually untrue. At anything over 9w the 6800U devices steamroll the deck so hard that it looks like a redheaded stepchild by comparison, and this is early days for the the earliest of devices using it, where bios revisions are being made on an almost daily basis..

    >>Ayn announces they're replacing the entire screen for a worse one and delaying shipments even further for a board revision
On the Odin lite. Which is unfortunate, but also the kind of thing that happens. Compared to the deck, where they still haven't moved past shipping the first hour or so of units after a year, this is par for the course?
    >Ayn Odin Lite still not shipping but you will surely, kindly get the Ayn LOKI
The Loki is an entirely different team. Might as well get mad at the guys who made Half Life: Alyx because your deck has one of the shitty fans in it.
    Or stick drift..
    Or light bleed..
    or malfunctioning buttons..

the deck, unlike the index/link/controller, is almost certainly sold at a slight loss.
the entire goal all along is to put more devices with a focus on steam out there. steam has been valve's only real focus for over a decade at this point.
microsoft is selling the series s at a loss. losing money on the hardware is fine as long as those people buy in your ecosystem. microsoft is even wasting tons of money on getting games on game pass to get some control. valve is selling hardware and developing consumer-friendly software to do the same thing as microsoft here.
if people want their chinese handheld running steamos because it works great on the deck, then valve won. steamos makes people want to own games through steam because it's so heavily integrated.

the ammount of vitriol over the Steam Deck existing I've seen over the course of a few months has been absolutely absurd, especially since it's mere existence benefited literally everyone by revitalizing competition inside two stagnant markets, those being the UMPC market and the OS market
when it was announced, it was the absolute best deal available not only for UMPCs but for entry level PCs thanks to the components shortage, if new handhelds start competing with it's cost/performance ratio then that's a GOOD thing since it benefits the consumer

Why make anything when you can wait for others to design it and optimize everything and improve on their faults
This is one of the first times in a long time where the chink actually rushed to do R&D and its not working for them because the other competitors can just leap frog them one way or another.

Hollow Knight works on skyline, gets about 45-55 fps on high performance mode. Controller doesn't work straight up, but can be configured to work instead of the on-screen controls. Really want to test Octopath Traveller now

it's been functioning within the PC space for decades. It's almost a decade for hardware though. 9 years since the wet noodle that was steam machines.

Goddamn, they have been unsuccessfully trying to push steam OS for almost TEN YEARS.

              Anonymous

Their original steam box was just a proof of concept which iirc was made by Dell. Steam machines were made by other manufacturers. Other than that Valve has only made the controller, the link thingy and the index themselves. And now the deck.
Saying they've been making hardware for a decade is a bit deceiving.

The Steam Deck is made and assemble in China moron, there is no proof of anything that its made and assembled in the US. All the components are Chinese made. This is why they didn't show the Valve index or Steam deck being produced in a factory like the steam controller.

Not on the hardware itself. Those 100 million users can buy literally any other PC, laptop or handheld and they'll still be making the exact same amount of money from Steam.

MCC, DivOS2, Duck Game, Gothic worked fine for me without GE. All of those I tried 2 months ago, btw. FFXIV also works as of a few weeks ago. How old is your list ?

    >make a thread shitting on AYN for some reason
    >get your shit pushed in and spend the rest of the thread desperately defending the steam deck
when you can't even beat out the four people that own an android handheld, you know you're in trouble.

GPD win 3 is best handheld by the way, but the Odin looks nice too.

btw all the devices in your image were successful except for the steambox

There was no "the steambox". Those were all just prebuilds from different manufactures. The only thing Valve shipped was Steam OS.

why the frick would you buy a steamdeck in the first place? such a useless piece of technology
what are you gonna play hentai games on the bus? theres just no need you’re gonna be playing pc games at home

You can't win with these things.
    I'd rather buy a Deck.

    >Steam deck wins by doing literally nothing
Aside from having superior development put into it and being updated every other week, yes. Nothing.

All these shills and misinfo is confusing

Give it to me straight. Which China handheld is cheaper and has better specs than a Steam Deck?

    Also no "preorder" scams.

nothing is out yet until December or early next year and by then the 7800U will be released and the cycle starts all over again

I assume you have prices and specs. So which one actually competes with the Deck's positioning.

        Neither use a pc

I play games to wind down. Not going to a desk like a sweaty esport job.

buying handhelds which don't have software specifically tailored to them like the nintendo handhelds of old, is moronic
