Did boomers really start drooling over a game where you spend half your time driving around in that shitty boat solving badly forced physics puzzles?

Yes. You wouldn't get it though since you don't play games.
more like shart life 2
Why are some people just garbage at vehicle sections?
>omg the half life airboat is so hard
>omg the crysis vtol is impossible
>omg the mass effect mako is uncontrollable
Low IQ that doesn't allow them to comprehend how to drive vehicles.
Most people don't understand that you should break before turns to not crash.
It's the downside of giving third worlders who only ever have driven a scooter a pc&internet.
Most people can't drive irl
Just look at the average American driver
have sex, incel
The only good thing about hl2 are all the mods. You can't refute this.
>half your time
The game is like 12 hours long and the boat and buggy sections are 2 at most
And the buggy one especially has a lot more on-foot combat sections than it does driving.
I enjoy the boat section. I enjoy motorboating OP’s mom just a little bit more, though.
It was a massive downgrade from the first game and a glorified engine demo at best but console babbies will never agree because crouch and jump filtered them all.
You might be surprised to learn it was groundbreaking for its time, and is the progenitor of what half-breed broccoli haired twinks have reduced to fortnite skin market gaming. Instead of impressive and innovative mechanics, you get to purchase a flossing emote. Isn't that fun? You can play Nikki Minaj in the New CoD, that's innovative, right? homosexuals that couldn't handle a boat section are what turned games into this. Enjoy.
Fortnite is at least not a moviegame. Imagine your legacy being the origin of the 2000s cinematic shooter.
>oh noes this 12 hour game has a 15 heccin minutes of (interactable) cutscenes AIEEEEEE SAVE ME Black personMAN
>(interactable) cutscenes
Far worse than a normal cutscene that can be skipped. Even the worst of cinematic trash usually doesn't copy this.
And this was considered a story-driven game at the time
Now those numbers would be reversed
Imagine your legacy being the gayest generation to ever exist in the history of mankind while also supporting product placement and brand loyalty and blaming capitalism for your depression.
Fricking resonance cascade. We need to close off the portal that’s linking the broccoli twinks to our world and cut them off for good.
One day it will get better. Somebody will grow tired of virtual stores and currencies and just make a game with cool tech in it. If not, this is a creative medium that deserves to die.
it's seminal, so now it seems derivative. many such cases.
On A Rail is much worse than Water Hazard.
Dipshit zoomers wouldn't understand. Without HL2, you wouldn't have half the bullshit they shovel now. At least it was an original idea. The first time most games had experienced real time physics in game.
Now everything is just an iteration of the latest flavor of the week. Gaming peaked years ago. homosexuals these days just pay to be at the end of the game. Fricking sheep still paying for games they already own. Pathetic.
>Play Half-Life 2 in 2023
>running at 200FPS 8xMSAA with my fans hardly waking up
>Play Lethal Company or any other modern kusoge
>fans turn into jet engines to maintain a stable 60FPS with your options for anti-aliasing being smudging it up with either TAA and FXAA, but don't worry, the devs probably included a post-processing sharpening filter to compensate
People will defend this
Water Hazard is my favorite chapter in the game. I love getting hounded by the helicopter and it leads to a satisfying finale.
Yeah, they were dumb pretentious teens back then.
The airboat was easy to drive and speeding through the canals was a blast. The buggy on the otherhand was very clunky.
im gonna say it. hl2 was basically just a less janky, non dinosaur themed jurassic park trespasser.
HL2 is based and the HL series has one of the best soundtracks of all time
Zoomies have a nice day.
Zoomer here. I played HL1 AND 2 and enjoyed myself during both. have a nice day brainrotted Black person
You had to be there.
Your nthly reminder that games really do get better over time and only depressed moronic dopamine starved boomers think otherwise.
Now monetization has gone to frick, but that's not really the fault of creatives.
My half life hard crashes now since the update, and it is kind of sad.
This one spot in Surface Tension in particular, crashes on map transition consistently, so I was unable to progress past that so far.
Hope they don't frick up hl2 like this.
I didn't like it at the time. Still don't. Played it when they released the Orange Box. Couldn't complain because it came with TF2 and Portal.
At the time, physics puzzles were a novel concept and the Source physics engine seemed revolutionary.
This was mind blowing that you could actually pick shit up and chuck it.
Hi Alf. /vr/ got too small for you?
Something I just thought of
Why didn't Kleiner just make a teleporter to evacuate everyone to Xen? They can be safe from the Combine there and, most of all, the supression field wouldn't apply to Xen so children would be able to be made again
I mean yeah it's full of aliens but so is Earth. The only difference is these aliens don't shoot bullets at you
The combine arrived at Earth through Xen. It was game of cat and mouse and they ended up with something more valuable than vortigaunts and bullsquids.
>combine own xen
>no combineified vortigaunts and bullsquids and alien grunts and houndeyes
They found Earth because of the Resonance Cascade but never passed through Xen.
The Nihilanth used Xen to escape from the Combine so why couldn't humans
It's superior to HL1 in just about every way and I'm tired of homosexuals with nostalgia goggles pretending otherwise
thanks for the laugh
