It wouldn't be worshipped on Ganker cause homosexuals would always want to have the next big contrarian opinion to feel smart and special and get lots of (You)'s, which is exactly why OP made this thread in the first place.
dropped being used to represent something being released isn't any more moronic than other slang that originated with whites so it's origin doesn't matter. senpai gets singled out because it is moronic.
I played it in VR and it was fantastic. Speaks to the versatility of the engine, the gameplay and the physics engine. Yeah the vehicles are jank but the airboat was still fun. Frick the cars though.
Should have clarified, I didn't know if there were multiple mods or anything but I found out it's in the steam store. I already downloaded them and plan on playing them soon. I loved Alyx and playing HL1/2 in VR sounds great.
>cinematic walk and talk cutscenes that are unskippable and waste dozens of minutes of your time >gun variety is worse than hl1 >enemy variety is worse than hl1
yup, half life 2 sucks
I like Half-Life 1 & 2 for different reasons. They don't feel like they're a part of the same series, if that makes sense. While 2 has the aliens and the references, sure, it never gave me the same feeling the first game did. It felt like they had a pitch for a game and they had to slap Half-Life stuff on top of it. But Ravenholm and the Coast levels give me such a unique feeling no game has captured since. >but muh vehicles >but muh tech demo >but muh useless bee gun
Love them both. Half-Life 2 is alright. You can't change my mind, nor should you try.
It was revolutionary at the time anon. That physics engine and those graphics and those facial animations and that lighting -- you take all that for granted today, but in 2004 HL2 was like Star Trek-tier technology. There's nothing to really compare it to nowadays, because technology has kind of plateaued and nothing in the space of tech or videogames, short of actual Star Trek technology, will impress anyone.
It's remembered for its impact. If you think it's aged like milk, fine -- that's OK. But you're likely just too young to remember or to have experienced it when it was new.
its fun and the shotgun from hl2 is still one of my favorite guns in any fps it's so satisfying to watch combine or zombies ragdolls after getting a perfect headshot
Are you talking about half life 1 or 2? Because I really can't tell.
But it's, fine, I'll answer for you. Half life 1 is even more of a "tech demo" than half life. The story was supremely unimportant in the development process, while half life 2 had to carry on from half life 1 at least.
Point being, who the frick cares. Tech demo just refers to the neat things they put into the game for people to have fun with.

I'm a HL1 fan myself but HL2 is still a decent game and has a lot of fun stuff in it. The physics are still fun to play with and the game gives you lots of explosive barrels to throw around. Stop halfway if you get bored, it's still worth a spin.

I love the original Half-Life, even at its "lowest" points like On A Rail.
Not with the slog of an intro, poor enemy variety and the awful vehicle segments.
>awful vehichle segments
you lack a soul, it's pointless to discuss farther with you
The intro and vehicle segments are awesome
It was always bad.
I agree, it was always too long and not as fun as Half Life 1.
if a game like half life 2 dropped in 2023 it'd instantly be consensus game of the year and it'd be worshiped on Ganker.
It wouldn't be worshipped on Ganker cause homosexuals would always want to have the next big contrarian opinion to feel smart and special and get lots of (You)'s, which is exactly why OP made this thread in the first place.
you are smoking crack
>dropped
what is it with you morons and constantly using Blackspeak? it's "released" you fricking brownoid.
"dropped" has nothing to do with ebonics moron. It has been used for ages to denote a release.
SHIEEET TRUE DAT MY homie YOU SPITTIN FIRE ON THESE SORRY MFS FR FR
let me guess, you're in your twenties
33 actually.
>It has been used for ages
no, it's been used for about the last decade or so which is when everyone started using Blackspeak because of social media
dropped being used to represent something being released isn't any more moronic than other slang that originated with whites so it's origin doesn't matter. senpai gets singled out because it is moronic.
If anything it's aged like water, in that it's more or less the same just a bit more stale
I played it in VR and it was fantastic. Speaks to the versatility of the engine, the gameplay and the physics engine. Yeah the vehicles are jank but the airboat was still fun. Frick the cars though.
What's the best way to play this in VR?
Not sure what you mean, anon. If you haven't built up VR legs, do the teleporting. Otherwise movement is more immersive.
Should have clarified, I didn't know if there were multiple mods or anything but I found out it's in the steam store. I already downloaded them and plan on playing them soon. I loved Alyx and playing HL1/2 in VR sounds great.
I've played through half 2 like 3 separate times all separate by at least 4 years. Fun game.
It aged better than Metal Gear Slop: Snake Shitter.
It controls better than Half Life.
they feel exactly the same
>cinematic walk and talk cutscenes that are unskippable and waste dozens of minutes of your time

The fern mod makes it look great
The Ai agreed with you wtf?
AI failed to respond without sounding mad
Idk it's scratching the (you) itchy
Maybe I can escape this place and hang out with my mentally disabled Ai buddy
>AI is a better conversational partner than me
it's over
why the frick would I even care what you think about a game I enjoyed *20 fricking years ago*?
It really did. It shows that they only put the game together within a year. The episodes aged much better IMO.
I played it for the first time this year and enjoyed it ¯_(ツ)_/¯
begone zoomer

Painkiller and Max Payne 2 also used Havok.

I can't change the mind of someone who willingly chooses to be an annoying contrarian. I'd be wasting my time.
Still better than Opposing Force.
On the subject of milk has anyone tried Goat milk? I was wanting to try an alternative to cow milk for my protein shakes
Zoomers sure do have a very specific hate boner for this perfectly decent game.
hl2 is a zoomer game
No it isn't? You don't even know when zoomers were fricking born
I don't give a frick what you think.
How long do we have until the "half life 2 bad" contrarian take flips again?
everyone knew it was garbage since the beginning. le boat ride simulator and physics demo.
It was always supposed to be just a tech demo. it was fun to mess around with but no one really took the story that seriously
Are you talking about half life 1 or 2? Because I really can't tell.

I feel like playing black Mesa now.
it's fricking nuts to me that hunt down the freeman came out FIVE years ago
